55 – Noah’s Holiday (1)

    55 – Noah’s Holiday (1)

After the Klaus incident, a merit award ceremony was held in Cron.

The greatest contributor to this Klaus incident was Noah.

Thanks to her quick identification of the problem and response, they were able to subdue Klaus perfectly.

Calix called Noah aside to ask her personally.

“Noah is the greatest contributor to this incident.”

    “Me?”

“Because Noah quickly recognized Klaus’s treachery, we were able to win with almost no damage. So I want to reward you, Noah. Is there something you would like?”

At Calix’s words, Noah was filled with joy but fell into thought.

In truth, money held no meaning for Noah.

She didn’t particularly enjoy luxury and had already accumulated the wealth she desired.

As Noah pondered what to ask for, she recalled something she had longed for and spoke.

“If possible… I would like to have a day with the Lord.”

    “My day?”

    Noah nodded at Calix’s words.

A lord’s day is surprisingly busy.

He always has to meet and give orders to numerous people.

Having worked alongside him, Noah knew this better than anyone, but that was why she wanted to receive a day with Calix as a gift.

After a moment of contemplation, Calix replied.

    “That shouldn’t be difficult.”

    “R…really!?”

“Of course. If I can reward a precious vassal with my day, it’s a small price to pay.”

At Calix’s words, Noah was overjoyed, nearly jumping with happiness.

And they promised to spend time together on the holiday next week.

Calix also desired this promise with Noah.

As a lord, he had had no way to relieve his stress.

Under the pretext of a reward for Noah, he wanted to escape the watchful eyes of others and enjoy a moment of freedom.

Thus, the outing—or rather, the date—between Noah and Calix was set.

Noah and Calix decided to meet in Karan, a city that appears a bit higher up from the Cron stronghold.

The Cron stronghold had too many eyes watching, and the newly established city of Karan suited their date location better.

Karan, a symbol of prosperity for Cron, had become a meeting and socializing city for nobles from surrounding territories, with various restaurants, cafes, theaters, and shops established through Calix’s support and Noah’s planning.

Although Noah had been there as an administrator, she had never visited as a guest, so she felt both excited and nervous.

Noah arrived 30 minutes early to wait.

‘I prepared so hard; I wonder if the Lord will like it…’

With her beautifully managed white hair and wearing a purple dress, Noah adorned herself more beautifully than usual.

She also applied a hair treatment that cost 2 silver per drop, which had a seductive effect on men, making her hair look far more beautiful than usual.

However, since this was Cron’s territory, she wore glasses to disguise herself just in case.

As she waited for Calix, Noah thought of the merchants.

    ‘It’s Noah.’

    ‘It’s Lady Noah.’

‘Lady Noah, you look especially beautiful today.’

Noah was also the heir of the White faction.

Among the merchants, there were very few who did not know her face.

After about five minutes past the promised time, Calix arrived.

“Sorry. I’m a bit late. Did you wait long, Noah?”

“Oh! No, my… Calts, I just arrived.”

Since calling Calix “Lord” outside would be a big deal, he decided to use the alias “Calts” for the day.

And for Noah, what mattered now was not that.

Calix was dressed in casual clothes, unlike his usual attire.

He wore a suit-like design of casual wear and black sunglasses, which matched his silver hair and created a striking effect.

In short, it hit Noah’s preferences directly.

    “Shall we… go?”

    “Yes, Calts…”

Thus began the date between Calix and Noah.

As Calix and Noah were about to start their date, there were shadows watching them.

    There were two of them.

“L…Lana, is this really okay for us?”

“It’s fine. Azel, we are currently escorting the Lord. We are definitely not stalking the Lord and Lady Noah’s date.”

    “B…but…”

“The Lord is moving. We should move too.”

Azel and Lana, disguised in casual clothes, followed Calix under the pretext of escorting him, essentially stalking him.

Karan was one of the safest areas in Cron, with the most soldiers deployed for security.

So, Calix thought that he didn’t really need an escort, but Lana, Azel, and Hart thought differently.

Hart had decided to secretly escort Calix, adding his own selfish motives to ensure Calix’s safety.

The two followed Calix and Noah.

The first place Noah and Calix entered was a café.

The café “Golden Apple” was run by a pastry chef who studied in the islands, and Noah had personally lent him money.

This was because his apple tart was simply delicious.

Noah wanted to make sure Calix tasted this place’s flavors whenever she got the chance.

“Calts, please try this. It’s the specialty apple tart here.”

“Alright, I’ll eat it… no, I’ll enjoy it. Noah.”

    “Yes, yes!”

Noah felt her heart flutter for the second time today at Calix’s sudden casualness.

Calix had such charm when he spoke comfortably.

As Noah thought this, she watched Calix eat the apple tart.

    “This is really delicious, Noah.”

“Right? I was really surprised when I tasted it for the first time too.”

While eating the apple tart, Noah and Calix chatted comfortably like lovers.

And two people were watching this scene from a nearby table.

Lana was observing and taking notes.

“Indeed, this is how a date is done. I’ve learned something good.”

“This apple tart is really delicious, Lana!”

And beside her, Azel was enjoying the apple tart immensely.

Azel had tasted numerous dessert cafés in the islands, but this was just as good as any of those desserts.

She wanted to share this joy with her friend.

“Shh! Lower your voice. Azel, we are in the middle of a secret escort.”

But her friend seemed more focused on enjoying the tart.

    Azel sulked.

Thus, the surrounding people watched Noah and Calix enjoying their time, as well as Lana and Azel observing them from a distance, thinking.

    ‘It’s the Lord.’

    ‘It’s the Lord’s entourage.’

‘It would be rude to acknowledge them…’

    ‘I want an autograph.’

No matter how much they tried to hide their faces with glasses, Calix and his vassals were the most beloved and popular stars in Cron.

It was difficult for people not to recognize them.

Receiving the warm attention of those around them, the four enjoyed a delightful time at the Golden Apple.

After having a wonderful time at the Golden Apple, Noah guided Calix to the next destination.

It was a theater where they could watch a play.

    “Noah… what is this place?”

“This is the ‘Karan Theater,’ which is currently showing a popular play. Are you okay with plays, Calts?”

    “Ah… I’m fine.”

This Karan Theater was also a place Noah had personally vetted and invested in.

The director of the theater troupe performing there was an actor who had learned a bit of magic, albeit at a basic level.

Using that ability, he created interesting spectacles, and Noah saw potential in him and decided to invest.

Especially, the play currently being performed, “Monster of Dawn,” was receiving much acclaim for challenging the new genre of horror theater for the first time.

It was a play about a family struggling to survive against monsters that suddenly appear at dawn, and the poster of the troupe was drawn in a very frightening manner to convey that sense of horror.

However, to Noah, who had experienced war firsthand, that poster felt like a joke.

‘I wonder if the Lord will find it interesting; what if he thinks it’s boring?’

While Noah was thinking this, Calix was engulfed in fear.

Though it had carried over from his past life, Calix was strangely weak against horror.

He particularly struggled with jump scares that startled people.

He wanted to suggest doing something else, but seeing Noah’s sparkling eyes filled with anticipation, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

‘If I back down now, Noah will surely be disappointed.’

With that resolve in mind, Calix entered the theater with Noah.

And the two who were watching also tried to follow them in.

“We should go in too, Azel.”

“Lana, do we… really have to go in?”

    “We have to.”

At Lana’s strong statement, Azel’s eyes trembled.

In the end, she revealed one of her secrets to Lana.

    “I… I don’t like scary things!”

Azel’s words left Lana the most flabbergasted she had ever been.

She never expected to hear such a thing from Azel, who could purify evil spirits in one go and easily defeat trained knights.

“That’s a strange thing to say. With Azel’s Blessing, you shouldn’t have to fear monsters, right?”

“That’s that, and this is this!”

Azel had hated monster stories since she was a child.

She could fight monsters and evil spirits as much as she wanted.

But being the weak protagonist in such stories was too painful for her.

After a long argument in front of the theater, they were scolded by a staff member, and Azel was dragged into the theater by Lana.

The play was about to begin.
