Chapter Index

“Hello, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen you.”

Bi Ryu yeon greeted him as he entered the Aesojeohoe. Im Seong jin greeted him happily. These days, he was also in a position to take classes together at the Black Sword Team.

“Ah! Ryu yeon, have you come? You’ve come at a good time.”

The reason Bi Ryu yeon visited today was because of a call from Im Seong jin.

“How is it? Are you having fun these days?”

Im Seong jin asked with a mischievous expression.

“Was there something fun to see?”

Bi Ryu yeon did not catch the hidden intent in Im Seong jin’s words.

“You’ve been spending time with two celestial beauties lately, haven’t you? I’m so envious I could die soon…”

Im Seong jin’s eyes were genuinely filled with envy. He was talking about the recent event where Bi Ryu yeon became the messenger for Eun Seol ran.

“Will you listen to my words? Why make such a fuss over such a thing…”

Bi Ryu yeon waved his hand dismissively, but Im Seong jin did not let it go.

“What are you talking about! Do you really not know how much you’ve become the object of envy among our members? There are plenty of people who would want to tear you into a thousand pieces out of envy. That’s how much they envy you.”

“Somehow, hearing that doesn’t make me happy at all.”

“Always remember that you are a member of our association and send us information about Miss Eun Seol ran! We are always starving for fresh information. Especially something like her three sizes, which are kept as top secret! Please, I beg you.”

Im Seong jin’s eyes were burning with misplaced passion.

    “For free?” (TLN : bruh)

Bi Ryu yeon spoke in a subtle tone. Im Seong jin flinched for a moment but soon regained his composure. Now he had realized where this guy’s dissatisfaction was coming from!

“Hahaha. How could that be! There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world. Don’t worry about that and just bring us some good information.”

    “I’ll think about it.”

Bi Ryu yeon did not outright refuse but left some room for consideration. He instinctively knew what diplomacy was all about.

“But was this really the reason you called me here?”

Bi Ryu yeon asked. He had come here because he was told there was an important matter.

“Ah! That’s not it. I called you because there’s something urgent I need to tell you. Some urgent information has come in.”

    “What is it?”

Bi Ryu yeon also leaned forward in anticipation. Im Seong jin decided it was time to get to the point.

“Have you had any dangerous incidents lately?”

“Well… aside from the occasional hidden weapons flying at me from behind while walking, traps set up on doors I enter, cursed letters filling my mailbox, or animal carcasses hanging outside my window, nothing much.”

Bi Ryu yeon answered with a grin, but the listener couldn’t force a smile. Im Seong jin’s face had hardened.

    “That… isn’t that a bit extreme?”

“It’s nothing. To think they’re trying to affect someone’s mind with such timid and weak methods, they must still be children. How could such feeble tactics ever impact someone’s psyche?”

Weak, indeed! How high must one’s level be to consider this level of action as low and weak?

“It must be the work of those who can only like women in fantasies, considering such childish actions.”

The members of the Ice Peak Protection Squad were the prime suspects for most of the crimes. However, there were too many suspects to count.

“And yet, you maintain a sound mind, which is even more surprising! Weren’t there people who got caught committing these acts? How were they dealt with? Surely not…”

Im Seong jin was inwardly worried about how harshly Bi Ryu yeon might have dealt with them.

    “they are fine.”

    “Really?”

“Of course! How could I be harsh to my fellow disciples? Hmm… to be forgiven with just a hole in one buttock, a broken leg, or a dislocated shoulder, they are really lucky guys. To end up with just that after failing a perfect crime.”

Bi Ryu yeon’s words greatly contributed to silencing Im Seong jin’s words and crushing his lungs. Im Seong jin did not want to imagine what the end of the criminals who failed at a perfect crime would be like. His right palm felt damp.

Suddenly, as if something had occurred to him, Bi Ryu yeon slapped his palm with his fist.

“Oh, right! I did see something quite interesting two days ago. It was truly amazing…”

The event of that day was still incredibly astonishing to think about. That such a thing was possible was a mystery of the universe.

“What happened that was so interesting?”

Im Seong jin suddenly showed curiosity.

“Oh! It’s nothing. It was just a fascinating magic. Have you ever seen a flesh dance?”

Bi Ryu yeon asked with a curious twinkle in his eye.

Im Seong jin was baffled. He couldn’t grasp what Bi Ryu yeon was talking about.

    “I haven’t seen it.”

“Too bad! You missed seeing the incredible and amazing antics of flesh. When you get the chance later, be sure to see it. It’s like the flesh moves freely like a living creature, that’s no exaggeration to call it a miracle. It’s really amazing.”

Bi Ryu yeon had narrowly escaped being implicated in evidence destruction.

“So, was it just for such a trivial matter that you called me?”

    Bi Ryu yeon asked.

“Of course, there was that matter. But that’s not all.”

And in fact, there was one more thing. Originally, that was the reason Bi Ryu yeon had been called here.

“Do you know that Gu Jeong Ju and Gun Ung Hoe ju have come out of their closed door training this time?”

    “Who are those people?”

    “What!”

Im Seong jin’s eyes widened. He had called him out of concern, but it seemed that Bi Ryu yeon had no worries or concerns at all. Did he really not know how the people of Gu Jeong Hoe and Gun Ung Hoe were looking at him?

“Ryu yeon! Do you really not know that you’ve become a target for both Gu Jeong Hoe and Gun Ung Hoe?”

It was a story that had already been widely known.

    “I don’t know!”

Bi Ryu yeon’s resolute statement hammered a nail into Im Seong jin’s heart.

Currently, both the Gu Jeong Hoe and Gun Ung Hoe factions were desperate to dig into Bi Ryu yeon’s past. Yet, the person in question was unaware…

    “Are they such great people?”

“Do you really, truly, not know about them yet?”

    Nod!

Without a hint of conscience or hesitation, Bi Ryu yeon nodded. Im Seong jin was shocked.

“I don’t necessarily feel the need to be interested in someone else’s identity, but they must be truly remarkable.”

“Of course! Not only are they remarkable, but they are also two of the most famous people affiliated with Cheonmu Academy! It’s strange that you don’t know.”

    “I don’t know.”

Bi Ryu yeon’s words were unwavering. Even if he was treated as an oddity (which he already was), he didn’t care.

“How can you not know about them when it’s been over a year since you joined? Even if you entered half day seclusion when you enrolled?”

Bi Ryu yeon answered that question.

“I’m not particularly interested in those weaker than me.”

Im Seong jin’s expression crumpled instantly. His heart was already pounding with shock. His head throbbed without a headache.

“Don’t carelessly say such things in front of others. Almost all the officials of Cheonmu Academy belong to these two organizations. If they hear that their leader has been insulted, it will cause quite an uproar! They hate having their pride wounded more than death itself.”

“Then I’ll have no choice but to die.”

    Bi Ryu yeon spoke nonchalantly.

He couldn’t die, so he had no choice but to annihilate all those who were hostile to him. This was the mindset that Bi Ryu yeon naturally held. It was also the spirit of the Bi Reyo mun, passed down from his master’s master’s master’s master’s master.

“Don’t even think about causing trouble with them! You’ll just be inviting endless annoyance. I called you here to warn you.”

Im Seong jin was worried about the movements of Gu Jeong Hoe and Gun Ung Hoe regarding Bi Ryu yeon, which had been caught by the Aesojeohoe’s intelligence network. His actions weren’t cute, but rather arrogantly grandiose, yet he couldn’t bring himself to hate him. The more he saw, the more intriguing he found him.

“What could happen if I don’t even know them?”

Bi Ryu yeon remained nonchalant, almost to the point of indifference. Seeing such a calm demeanor made Im Seong jin feel like all his worries had been for nothing. Where did this endless composure come from?

“But somehow, it makes me anxious. There’s this indescribable feeling that people have…”

“That’s what you call buying trouble. Don’t worry about it.”

Bi Ryu yeon was still carefree. And in truth, he was someone who wouldn’t worry even if a problem arose.

    ‘Maybe it won’t happen… I’m just overreacting.’

Im Seong jin tried to console himself with that thought.

But no matter how much he heard Bi Ryu yeon’s bold assurances, his anxiety didn’t fade. Instead, it quietly settled deep in his heart, lingering like a residue.

‘It won’t happen. Not unless the heavens capriciously intervene!’

    He wanted to believe that.

“Be careful! If something goes wrong, I’ll buy incense for your memorial tablet, so don’t worry about what comes after.”

“Well… Will I even have the chance to meet such high and mighty people? It’s not like I’ll bump into them on the street.”

“Especially be careful not to bump into them on the street. If it happens, I can’t guarantee your life.”

    It was no joke.

“Such a coincidence won’t happen, will it?”

Bi Ryu yeon just laughed it off. Im Seong jin also consoled himself with the thought that such things wouldn’t happen. But the ways of the world are truly strange. Especially since human intentions never seem to follow through as expected.

‘If only this were alcohol, how nice that would be,’ Im Seong jin thought as he sipped his tea and suddenly slapped his palm.

“Ah! Did I tell him that the leader of Gun Ung Hoe is a woman?”

Im Seong jin remembered something he had forgotten to tell Bi Ryu yeon, but it was already a while after Bi Ryu yeon had left.

    “Well, it shouldn’t be a big deal…”

He decided to tell him next time they met and to be at ease. If something happened here, it would be his own doing. Im Seong jin sincerely thought so. But then…

What to do about this situation? Sometimes, or rather very often, things don’t go as people plan. In such cases, reality usually leads to unexpected outcomes. When that happens, the person involved doesn’t understand how it came to be. And they can’t answer why because it just happened that way.

In other words, no explanation is needed for such random occurrences. Even if you claim it’s unreasonable, there’s nothing you can do. Because sometimes, the heavens are quite the unreasonable tricksters. At such times, the heavens often exercise a complete right to silence, becoming completely unresponsive. When faced with such a situation, there’s only one course of action! A foolishly bold breakthrough to overcome the heavens caprice and mischief.

After all, even Bi Ryu yeon’s current situation was like that! He had not intended for it, but it just happened by chance beside him.

And he had absolutely no intention of being harmed or suffering losses due to the whims and pranks bestowed by the heavens, which are known for their habitual slight capriciousness. Who dares to inflict harm and loss on others!

Bi Ryu yeon would never forgive such an entity, even if it were the heavens.

But this time, the entity wasn’t the heavens but a woman. Of course, the heavens, the god of fate, couldn’t be absolved from meddling in this affair.

Bi Ryu yeon had experienced quite a few things, but this incident was truly absurd and the epitome of coincidence. It was a good experience to learn that people could encounter all sorts of things in life.

The slim chance of such an occurrence didn’t take even a moment. In the short time it took Bi Ryu yeon to leave the Aesojeohoe and walk to the dormitory, the astronomical odds were defied, and the incident happened by chance.
