Chapter v7c21
by fnovelpia
“What are you looking at?”
Bi Ryu yeon casually threw out a word, with a look in his eyes as if he was looking at a fool.
“How… how can you be unharmed?”
Cheon Sal’s voice trembled with an unbelievable, undeniable fear. Already two people had rendered his Ghostly Demon Eye Technique, which had been activated, useless. It was a deep wound to his pride.
Cheon Sal could not accept the reality unfolding before his eyes. No one had ever maintained their composure so straight and unchanged even after being caught in his Ghostly Demon Eye Technique.
“It doesn’t make sense!”
Once again, Cheon Sal gathered all his mental strength to deploy the secret technique of the Ghostly Demon Eye Technique.
“Wouldn’t it be better to stop?”
Bi Ryu yeon spoke as if to persuade him. But Cheon Sal was not one to stop just because he was told to. Had they ever listened to others? Never, not once.
He once again raised the Ghostly Demon Eye Technique to its extreme. Bi Ryu yeon did not avoid his gaze. Was it Cheon Sal’s own delusion that he felt Bi Ryu yeon’s eyes shine like a golden flash?
“Aaaaagh!”
A desperate scream echoed throughout the mountains. Cheon Sal clutched his eyes. The power of the Ghostly Demon Eye had been reflected back. It was unimaginable.
Blinded, Cheon Sal began to flounder. An unprecedented fear and terror seized his heart.
“What on earth is this technique?”
“The Absolute Spirit Defense of the Void Path!”
With that, Cheon Sal lost the power of his proud Ghost Eye. Along with it, his lofty self confidence was also broken. He would never use the soul stealing technique again.
For the first time in thirty years, Cheon Sal felt true fear. It was a chilling fear that seemed to devour his heart.
Bi Ryu yeon’s right hand naturally rose, targeting Cheon Sal’s throat.
“Gulp!”
With that alone, Cheon Sal felt a chilling sensation as if an invisible blade was piercing through his Adam’s apple.
Like a fly caught in a spider’s web, he could not move. No matter how much he struggled, the net of murderous intent that constricted him only tightened more.
Bi Ryu yeon’s pupils were devoid of any emotion. Colder than eternal ice and harder than steel, an impregnable wall of a heart! An invincible spirit that showed no sign of any tremor!
Absolute Unmoving Heart! No variable could cause a ripple or disturbance in his gaze.
“Click!”
When Bi Ryu yeon released the Black Dragon Ring from his right hand, it fell to the ground with a thud, and the ground caved in under its weight.
“Swoosh!”
Bi Ryu yeon extended his hand forward. Infinite power was contained in the extended right hand of Bi Ryu yeon. It was both strength and terror.
“Huh!”
Cheon Sal inwardly gasped. For some reason, he could not move rashly. He knew that if he moved, he would die instantly. Had instinct overcome reason?
He tried to move, but his feet would not leave the ground. The fear of death, that moving even a single step could kill him, crept up on him. It was a strange emotion he had never felt before.
“Could it be… sim geom jido (the Way of the Heart Sword)? To be immobilized by a mere shadow of a hand!”
Suddenly, Bi Ryu yeon’s face seemed demonic. A primal, wrenching fear surged from the well of the unconscious deep within his mind. He was helpless to stop this outburst.
“Have you now gained a heart that can believe in others words?”
The smile on Bi Ryu yeon’s lips was like that of the Grim Reaper. He was toying with him.
“Ugh!”
He struggled to break free from the binding of the hand, but like an insect caught in an invisible web, he could only wriggle, unable to escape.
“Oh dear! Wouldn’t it be better to stop this reckless act?”
“Swoosh!”
“Gulp!”
The hand was extended forward once again. A terrifying pressure and suffocation came over him. It seemed impossible to shake off easily.
The battle seemed already decided. Bi Ryu yeon’s hand was merciless. His heart was not broad enough to show mercy to a being that harbored murderous intent towards him.
When you inflict wounds on others, you must be prepared to be wounded yourself. If it’s murder, all the more so! Any outcome must be born according to the law of cause and effect.
“Swoosh!”
Bi Ryu yeon’s fingers moved slightly.
“Gag!”
One by one, the precious things that formed Cheon Sal’s foundation fell away at the flick of Bi Ryu yeon’s fingers.
Even with his eyes wide open, he was helpless. He moved his body with all his might, thinking he had dodged to the side, but still, Bi Ryu yeon’s finger pointed at the end of his forehead.
“Clang!”
The bell on his left wrist, said to control people’s spirits, shattered into pieces. Never again would the Ghost Bell ring from his wrist.
“Aaaaagh!”
The price Bi Ryu yeon demanded next was too great. Cheon Sal’s beloved sword, Gwi Hon, would never again be held in his right hand. Because Cheon Sal’s right arm was no longer a part of his body. His right arm, which would never again hold a cup or a sword, fell to the ground.
Cheon Sal watched this nightmarish scene with his eyes wide open, unable to understand why he couldn’t avoid it. It was invisible to the eye. Caught in the illusion of the hand, he could only wriggle like a person hanging from a palm., like Sun Wukong on the palm of the Buddha!
The outcome was already determined. The only thing Cheon Sal could do now was to beg for mercy from his opponent.
Those who fall from a high place receive a mental shock as great as the height from which they fell. The Twin Killers of Heaven and Earth were once at the pinnacle of martial arts. They were always revered and feared by those around them because their martial arts instilled fear.
And then, in an instant, their glory ended.
It was a disgrace worse than death. A yoke and karma that would follow them for life. The defeat of today and the desperate fear he felt would be engraved in his heart, never to be erased, no matter how much time passed.
Nothing in this world is eternal. For the Twin Killers of Heaven and Earth today, it was the end of their brilliant glory. The sound of the end of glory faintly echoed around them.
“What is that?”
Jisal blankly watched a scene from a dream, which seemed fitting to call a nightmare, amidst the heat of battle.
“Am I dreaming right now?”
Suddenly, the intense heat that had filled his body felt as if it was cooling down.
“I can’t believe it! It doesn’t make sense!”
His close business partner, Cheon Sal, had not resisted at all and was now at the mercy of a youngster, as if his life as a swordsman was at stake.
He had given up his right arm.
Without any struggle, the Bell broke, the Ghost Eye was halved, and finally, his right arm fell. It was a scene so surreal, like a dream. The screams of his business partner echoed from a place too far away to feel real.
But it was true that his friend Cheon Sal’s right arm had been cut off, and it was also true that he was now in a situation where he could be roasted like a whole pig under Yeom do’s Crimson Seventeen Flames Sword Qi.
“Ugh!”
He felt a burning heat that could scorch his entire body, reigniting the cold skin and mind. The thirst tormented him more than ever before.
The fierce battle was still ongoing. Until just moments ago, it was a situation where it was impossible to tell who was superior, but Jisal seemed very shaken after witnessing what happened to Cheon Sal.
Now, anyone could see that Yeom do was driving Jisal into a corner. Jisal’s defeat seemed almost certain.
The situation was largely under control.
“Are you thirsty?”
Yeom do, still wielding his powerful sword with strength and without fatigue, asked.
Caught off guard by the question, Jisal nodded unconsciously. His desire for relief was desperate. His throat felt parched as if burning up.
Ashamed,His already flushed face from the heat turned even redder.
A piercing flash seemed to shoot from Yeom do’s red eyes.
“Then I’ll quench your thirst! But with your blood!”
Yeom do’s sword turned into a red line and slashed through the air.
“Thud!”
A heavy object fell to the ground shortly after. It was an arm, unmistakably Jisal’s, excessively plump arm. Yeom do’s beloved Red Flame was identified as the prime suspect for the dismemberment.
“Pssst!”
“Aaaaargh!”
Blood spurted from Jisal’s shoulder like a fountain.
“How about that, I kept my promise?”
Yeom do, covered in blood, looked like a demon. The battle was decided this way.
Even in the underworld, no one could have guessed that the infamous Twin Killers of Heaven and Earth would be defeated so easily. Their decades of notorious reputation vanished in an instant. Never again would the name of the Twin Killers be mentioned as a synonym for evil. Fame, even if it is notorious, is like a bubble!
Their names were erased from the long history of martial arts, and their era ended today.
“He will not forgive you.”
Such a cliché line! With that, the Twin Killers fled like rats. It was only regrettable that he couldn’t completely cut off their escape.
“They’re past their prime!”
That was Bi Ryu yeon’s comment after hearing their last words. Yeom do nodded in complete agreement next to him. How shameful to try to threaten others by borrowing someone else’s power. It was not like the Twin Killers of Heaven and Earth, who used to bring storms of blood under the name of terror.
“Who is he…………..”
Bi Ryu yeon pondered for a moment but realized it was something he couldn’t know.
“Do you know?”
Bi Ryu yeon turned his head towards Namgung Sang and asked.
Namgung Sang shook his head.
“It’s too vague.”
It wasn’t unreasonable for him to complain.
Speak more clearly! They were people who lacked consideration for others.
Now, the only one left was Gal Hyobong, who was still engaged in a fierce battle.
“Is he the only one left?”
Bi Ryu yeon glanced over and said. The two people fighting noisily entered his view. Cheong heun and Hyobong! Their martial prowess was outstanding, making one wonder if there was anyone else of their age with such skill. Meanwhile, Mo Yong hwi had hurriedly received first aid but was still between life and death.
Cheong heun and Gal Hyobong were in the midst of a battle against the strongest opponents of their lives. Despite the battle having started a while ago, the outcome was still undecided. It seemed that even after expending so much energy fighting Mo Yong hwi, they still had strength left.
“How do we handle this?”
With the leader having fled and the enemies scattered, only Gal Hyobong remained. His twin swords had lost much of their explosive power from the beginning. It was proof that his energy was reaching its limit.
“Do we have to kill him?”
No other sharp solution came to mind. The most urgent task was to finish things as quickly as possible.
Snap!
While Bi Ryu yeon was pondering over Gal Hyobong’s fate, someone grabbed his shoulder.
“Why?”
Bi Ryu yeon turned around with a puzzled look.
“Don’t kill him, please!”
Hyo ryong’s face was dead serious as he pleaded.
“Why?”
Hyo ryong couldn’t readily answer Bi Ryu yeon’s question. Bi Ryu yeon didn’t really expect an answer either. But he wanted to hear it. In such times, sorry to his friend, but a bit of pressure could be quite effective.
“Hyo ryong! As you know, he has lost his reason! It’s impossible to subdue him by ordinary means. Even if we do subdue him, there’s no guarantee that his lost reason will return! So the easiest way is to kill him! You know that too.”
“That can’t happen! Absolutely not!”
Hyo ryong cried out with a pale face.
“Why?”
“He is… he is…”
Hyo ryong clenched his eyes shut and gripped his fist tightly. He was desperate, wanting to grasp at straws. The vague hope that Bi Ryu yeon in front of him might do something had seized him. Even if that hope was an illusion, it was welcome. He was in a situation where he had to do something.
Finally, Hyo ryong gritted his teeth.
“He is… he is my own brother!”
The witnesses looked at Hyo ryong with faces filled with astonishment.
Their gaze was full of distrust. The warmth of the past was nowhere to be found in their eyes. Only coldness greeted him.
“Ho!”
The criticism Hyo ryong expected did not come. Bi Ryu yeon briefly turned his head to glance at Hyo ryong, then looked forward again.
“It looks like you’re telling me not to ask anything!”
Step, step!
Bi Ryu yeon walked towards the two still engaged in battle, without any hesitation in his steps. His steps were leisurely, as if he was on a stroll.
“Where are you going?”
Hyo ryong asked with a panicked face.
“A walk!”
That was Bi Ryu yeon’s carefree answer.
