Chapter v7c18
by fnovelpia
The sword energy spread out like a meteoric arrow, instantly annihilating six lives that were coming at him. Mo Yong-hwi himself was not unscathed the wounds that were barely healing had reopened, and blood was flowing.
“Argh!”
The shock was so great that his legs trembled, but it seemed he barely managed to block it.
“Be careful! It’s not over yet!”
The one who warned Mo Yong-hwi, who was slightly relaxed and off-guard, was Hyo-ryong.
‘Not over yet?’
He suddenly felt exposed to a murderous intent, as if all the hairs on his body were standing on end.
‘Where is it?’
The answer was right above his head.
“Up!”
Hyo-ryong shouted urgently.
“Clang!”
Fortunately, Mo Yong-hwi’s reaction was quick enough. If he had been even half a second later, he might not have survived. Mo Yong-hwi frowned at the impact, which felt like his bones were shattering.
‘Did it shatter? Still, it’s cheap for the price of saving my life.’
A dislocated shoulder was a small price to pay.
As his ultimate move turned out to be futile, Gal Hyobong retreated outside the hall with a somersault. He was not in good shape either; his body was covered in minor wounds.
“Oh no! The secret sword technique, ‘Thunderous Division of the Heavens’!”
Hyo-ryong exclaimed unconsciously. He had forgotten the most important qualities of a spy, calmness and composure.
With a grim expression, Hyo-ryong, who had been focusing on the fierce battle, suddenly felt a strange energy.
“Hm?”
It was then that Hyo-ryong, noticing the unusual atmosphere, quickly looked around. Everyone had a dazed expression.
“Why, what’s wrong?”
Hyo-ryong was puzzled.
“How did you know?”
Cheong-heun, representing the stunned faces, stepped forward. His face was even more rigid than it had been that night.
“What?”
Hyo-ryong didn’t know what he had done wrong.
“How did you know the last attack was coming from above?”
“Of… of course, it was a feeling. A feeling!”
Hyo-ryong stammered his reply, which was, of course, a lie. It was an energy that couldn’t be caught with the eyes. Hence, it was named ‘Thunderous Division of the Heavens’!
Probably no one here would have noticed it. Otherwise, how could it be called a secret technique?
“Then how did you know the name of the martial art?”
“What do you mean? What martial art name?”
Cheong-heun’s eyes shone sharply, and his aura flared.
His mouth slowly opened.
“Didn’t you just say it? You mentioned ‘Thunderous Division of the Heavens’! I’m sure not only I but everyone here heard it clearly. How will you explain this fact?”
‘Oh no!’
It was a clear blunder of epic proportions. He was in a bind. His complexion turned pale. He was at a loss for words. What should he say in such a situation…
He knew the answer, but it was something he couldn’t reveal.
How could he say in front of them, ‘Because I’ve learned the ‘Heavenly Shadow Sword Technique of the Thunderous Sky’. It’s the legendary sword technique that only the direct descendants Gal Jung-hyeok of the Gwangcheon family can learn. Impressive, isn’t it?’
Hyo-ryong was stuck, his anxiety deepening. The one who saved Hyo-ryong from this predicament was, ironically, the Five Phantom Swords.
“Shine!”
“Kyaaaah! No!”
A tearing scream erupted from Lee Jin-seol. Cheong-heun quickly turned his head to look at Mo Yong-hwi’s location. The unbelievable sight that met his eyes shocked Cheong-heun, and he was not the only one.
Three heads were scattered around him, and two swords had pierced his abdomen and thigh. It was a fatal wound that could endanger his life if not treated urgently.
The ones who had planted two foreign objects in Mo Yong-hwi’s body were Five Phantom Swords. They had taken advantage of the moment when Mo Yong-hwi was focused on Gal Hyobong and had not paid attention to his surroundings, stabbing him in the back while he was defenseless. Although they had to become true Phantoms by sacrificing the third, fourth, and fifth among them, it was not a bad deal for the ‘Twin Killers’. That was their very nature.
“Argh!”
Bitter blood filled his mouth. It was a mistake to let his guard down. There was no guarantee that just because they hadn’t all attacked at once last time, they wouldn’t do so this time. He had momentarily forgotten such a simple principle…
A wave of regret flooded his heart.
“Die!”
Sang Jungha, who had deeply embedded a sword in Mo Yong-hwi’s flesh, shouted as he drew a small knife to head height with his right hand. His left arm couldn’t function properly because it had been severed by Mo Yong-hwi’s strike just moments before.
“Thwack!”
Sang Jungha swung down the knife with all his might. A flash of light sparked.
Swoosh!
“Ugh!”
Sang Jungha couldn’t carry out his will to the end.
The hand that had swung down no longer held the knife. Not only that, but the wrist that had been holding the knife was cleanly cut off. Blood spurted from the severed end.
A strike so fast that pain couldn’t be felt! The master of that strike was none other than Cheong-heun, the ‘Triple Section Sword’.
“Wham, wham, wham!”
As Cheong-heun’s angry sword flashed a second time, the heads of two ghosts cleanly separated from their bodies. Thus, the ‘Five Phantom Swords’ left no survivors.
Blood flowed down Cheong-heun’s sword blade.
“Ugh!”
Sam-Sal let out a groans. Especially, Cheon Sal’s expression was beyond description. The plan was going awry. The ‘Twin Killers’ hadn’t just been watching Gal Hyobong’s fight for their own amusement. They had hoped Gal Hyobong would cause more trouble.
Even if it wasn’t Mo Yong-hwi, there were many places where his strength was needed. If control was already impossible, the only option was to exhaust his strength until he was completely spent for the role he had to fulfill.
For the role of ‘Tidal wave of destruction’
…………………………………………………………………………………
“How could this happen…
It was a big mistake to underestimate them as novices.
The Five Phantom Sword and the Five Reaper Blades, which they wielded like limbs,
were defeated in an instant, leaving the Twin Killers feeling as if their own limbs had been cut off.
The Five Reaper Blades, which had been making noise, met their end with the appearance of Yeom do. It was almost reckless to try to block Yeom do’s blade with their own.
The price of recklessness was high.
The Twin Killers felt an unbearable sense of emptiness, despising the guys from Cheonmo Acadmy who had inflicted this feeling on them.
Unforgivable!
“Let’s kill them cleanly.”
Cheon Sal gritted his teeth and shouted.
“If you can do it, I won’t stop you! It’s the rule that when the underlings die, the boss shows up. Come at me.”
Bi Ryu-yeon taunted with a smirk. For the Twin Killers, it was the first time they had ever been insulted like this.
“Kukukuku! If you want, I’ll annihilate you all!”
“Screeeeech!”
His enchanted sword, Gwi Hon (Phantom Soul), began to emit a sword cry.
“Riiiiing! Ding-a-ling!”
The Phantom Soul Bell on his left wrist made a resonant sound, echoing through the air. Cheon Sal’s unique sword technique, The First Phantom Sword Method, had begun to activate.
It was a strange sound, as if calling the devils from hell.
‘What now?’
Bi Ryu-yeon pondered, recalling the conversation he had with Yeom do the night before.
‘You have to become weaker! First, you need to evoke sympathy!’
‘How?’
‘You have to run away!’
Bi Ryu-yeon decided to run away for now.
“Screeeeech!”
Cheon Sal’s sword emitted a humming sound as it thrust forward. Bi Ryu-yeon stepped back, escaping Cheon Sal’s sword circle. There was nothing good about being within the opponent’s attack range.
The distance between Cheon Sal’s eyebrows rapidly closed.
“How dare you!”
He swung his sword irritably again. But still, he couldn’t even graze Bi Ryu-yeon’s clothes. When he swung his sword, Bi Ryu-yeon was already far away, running.
“What are you doing?”
Cheon Sal shouted as he chased after Bi Ryu-yeon.
“Running away!”
Bi Ryu-yeon shouted back confidently. There was no shame in a strategic retreat.
‘Why ask when you know?’
Bi Ryu-yeon couldn’t understand why Cheon Sal was asking about the obvious situation. Besides, he was even getting angry. Anyway, running away as planned was the best course of action right now.
“That bastard!”
Bi Ryu-yeon’s speed exceeded Cheon-sal’s expectations. He had thought he could catch him and kill him within ten steps, but the bastard kept slipping away.
Slowly, frustration began to rise.
It was natural for Cheon Sal to feel ridiculous about Bi Ryu-yeon’s behavior, which was different from his initial attitude and just kept running away. The sight of Bi Ryu-yeon, who had been boasting loudly just a moment ago, now desperately retreating, was unbelievable.
Cheon Sal, enraged, swung his sword irritably. The sword energy spread wildly in all directions. It was puzzling why he wasn’t falling and bleeding out.
‘Like a slippery eel!’
It was incredible how the novice dodged his sword by just a paper-thin margin. But a runner is just a runner.
“Indeed, it was just the bluff of a novice, like an empty rice cake!”
Cheon Sal laughed scornfully as he pursued Bi Ryu-yeon. He took the opportunity to mock him to his heart’s content. It was an immature attitude.
“Did your master only teach you how to run away? Coward! Chicken!”
Suddenly!
Bi Ryu-yeon abruptly stood up straight while running away. Hearing about his master made him feel bad.
“I learned all sorts of things from master, but there’s one thing I didn’t learn! Do you know what it is?”
Cheon Sal shook his head. Bi Ryu-yeon’s attitude seemed too relaxed. Even though Bi Ryu-yeon had stopped, Cheon Sal didn’t think of attacking. Was it confidence that he could kill him at any time? Cheon Sal’s expression was quite distorted.
Once again, a murderous intent wriggled at the tip of his sword. The Enchanted Sword Gwi Hon was urging for the blood of that guy. Bi Ryu-yeon smiled faintly.
“One of them is the art of running away! And the second is the art of being a coward.”
Bi Ryu-yeon’s smile deepened. The fruitless play was over.
“Indeed, being the subject of others ridicule doesn’t suit me!”
Bi Ryu-yeon could stand many things, but his heart wasn’t so lowly as to endure others’ ridicule. The martial arts of Biryeo-do were not meant to be ridiculed by others.
In fact, there was no better martial art in the world for dealing with arrogant people with high noses. As he looked around a few times, carefully observing Na Yerin’s expression, there was no particular reaction from her.
“You didn’t learn how to run away?”
Cheon Sal looked at Bi Ryu-yeon with a strange gaze.
“Yes!”
“You didn’t learn how to be a coward either?”
Cheon Sal’s face grew increasingly fierce.
“Of course!”
Bi Ryu-yeon answered confidently. Cheon Sal’s expression became ambiguous.
“But you know…”
“Yes?”
“If you hide behind a woman’s skirt and speak with a serious face, it’s not convincing at all, kid! Do you know that?”
“Is that so?”
Bi Ryu-yeon still seemed unaware of his situation. Right now, he was hiding behind Na Yerin’s slender shoulder, with only his head peeking out from behind her. No matter how confidently he asserted himself, it wouldn’t be credible. It was bound to fall on deaf ears.
‘Hmm… was the strategy a failure…’
Considering the situation, her face was right in front of him, which was quite convenient to look at. but It didn’t seem like Na Yerin would show any sympathy for his weak appearance. Rather, did her gaze contain a hint of contempt?
It seemed the strategy was a complete failure.
“I shouldn’t have trusted the advice of a bachelor! I trusted him for nothing and suffered a loss!”
Yeom do, who was fighting with Jisal, had his face crumpled mercilessly at Bi Ryu-yeon’s grumbling. Anger flashed in his eyes.
Despite being busy fighting a bloody battle with Jisal, the words of Bi Ryu-yeon somehow entered his ears clearly and stuck.
“Aaaargh!”
Yeom do let out a sudden scream and violently swung his blazing blade.
Suddenly, the face of Hyuk So-un, whom he had unrequitedly loved and who had now become another man’s woman, flickered before his eyes. Jisal’s face overlapped with that of the ice sword guy he wanted to burn to death. Although Cheon Sal’s physique and impression were not similar, Yeom do’s eyes didn’t seem to see such things right now.
“!”
“Yah! You bastard! Die!”
As Yeom do’s blade collided with Jisal’s, a loud curse echoed from his mouth. He was visibly agitated. His eyes turned as red as the evening sunset, indicating that his Fire Spirit Divine Skill was being exerted to its extreme.
A fierce and terrifying heat, as if to burn everything around him, emanated from his entire body.
