Chapter 94: Rehearsal
by fnovelpia
There were times when viewers would jokingly bring up furries.
But it was always just a joke.
No one had ever actually offered a large sum of money to request a furry-related drawing.
The reason was simple.
There just weren’t many people willing to spend that kind of money on those kinds of drawings.
But now, to donate this much…
“Hmm…”
Since I had already said I’d issue a refund, accepting the request now felt a bit awkward.
[+HurryAndLeave:They gave you this much money]
[+HurryAndLeave:Wouldn’t it be weird not to do it?]
[If money solves everything, I’d donate 2 million won and tell you to draw what I want too lol]
[But is this really okay? I have no idea lol]
[Give me money please scratch scratch]
[Pepe:Let’s just refund and draw something else ;;]
[Yeahh drawing another furry pic is kinda too much]
“Uh, if you’d like, I can still issue the refund, so please send an email quickly. I’ve made up my mind not to draw those kinds of pictures if I can avoid it.”
Hopefully that would stop them from sending more money.
It was a bit of a warning, after all.
Right after I said that.
[User ‘Bunny’ has donated 1,000 won!]
—If it’s uncomfortable for you, I won’t donate anymore. I’m sorry.
Another donation that just made things more awkward arrived.
They could’ve just emailed me privately.
If I said no now, wouldn’t I just come off as the jerk who took the money and refused the request?
Feeling very conflicted, I opened my mouth.
“…Then I’ll draw just a little bit for you. Not too much, just a little.”
It was an unavoidable compromise.
I couldn’t just take the money and run.
[+HurryAndLeave:Can’t believe he’s actually drawing it lol]
[Thought he’d definitely say no lol]
[Pepe:Guess if you keep throwing money, it works lololololol]
[If I had money, I’d just make him draw only what I like]
[Sigh being broke is my only flaw..]
[This is exactly why Yott didn’t accept requests like this. It’s happening word for word lol]
[To be fair, it really couldn’t be helped.. lol]
[Draw lewds for me I’ll pay, draw lewds for me I’ll pay, draw lewds for me I’ll pay]
[Draw lewds for me I’ll pay, draw lewds for me I’ll pay]
[User has been temporarily kicked out!]
The chat instantly turned chaotic.
It couldn’t be helped.
This was basically the same as taking money to draw the picture.
“I’m not going to spend a ton of time on this, so everyone calm down. I’ll just finish this one, then we’ll take a vote and proceed from there.”
[+HurryAndLeave:Kyaa]
[This is it lololol]
[Let’s goooo]
[Taking a vote sounds right ;;]
[Let’s get that furry drawn quick]
[Pepe:LOL]
[Now this is how it should be]
[Furry or not, when are we playing Leore? Furry or not, when are we playing Leore Furry or not, when are we playing Leore?]
As soon as I said we’d take a vote, the chat revived again.
It amazed me how transparent their reactions were.
Thinking it was kind of funny, I started drawing the furry image.
Scribble scribble.
“A rabbit beastman isn’t too hard to draw. I’ve never actually drawn one before, but…
Rabbits in general aren’t all that tricky.”
Saying that, I began sketching out the overall shape.
If I hadn’t agreed to draw it, maybe I’d complain, but since I’d already said I would, I didn’t make a fuss or act like I didn’t want to.
It was already a done deal.
“The trick here is to give the ears a nice glossy shine. That’s the kind of thing fans of this genre care about.”
Scribble scribble.
I started adding key details.
Drew the torso too.
To make it clear this character wasn’t just a rabbit, but a rabbit beastman, I kept the human-like form noticeable.
[Kyaa]
[+HurryAndLeave:He’s seriously good at drawing lol]
[Wow he’s insanely good]
[Is this… legit?]
[Holy crap this is good]
[Pepe:Hurry and move on to the next one please]
[Please detail the butt]
Once the details were in, I wrapped up the drawing cleanly.
“Done. I think this is pretty much perfect. Or… is it not?”
[‘Bunny’ has donated 1,000 won.]
—I’m really satisfied. Thank you so much.
[Oh]
[+HurryAndLeave:Thank goodness lol they’re satisfied]
[As long as they’re satisfied, that’s all that matters]
[Lol]
[They’re finally happy, huh]
[Isn’t paying for a drawing like that kind of a rip-off?]
[Pepe:Well, other people wouldn’t even draw it in the first place]
Thankfully, they were satisfied.
I’d been a little worried they wouldn’t be.
Relieved, I saved the drawing and uploaded it to the fan café.
“I’ll post it on the fan café, so if you want to download it, go ahead.”
[+HurryAndLeave:No way anyone actually wants to download that, right?]
[No way… right? Lol]
[Ahem ahem]
[Why not? People can download whatever they want]
[That hate is insane lol]
[I’m writing down the names of anyone who downloads that ;;]
[Pepe:Bet there are people in chat pretending they won’t, but secretly downloading it]
[Still, the drawing was good. Cheers to that]
After uploading it to the fan café, I got started on the next illustration.
This time, it was based on what the viewers actually wanted.
“Alright, I’ll start the poll now. If something weird gets picked, it’s all on you guys.”
If something strange got chosen again, it would be entirely the viewers’ fault.
It’s not like I wanted to draw that kind of thing.
After continuing the stream for a while, the day of the concert finally arrived.
“Kinda nervous.”
I was a little shaky.
Of course, I wasn’t the one holding the concert.
I was just helping out backstage—but I still worried about messing something up.
“Come on, don’t be nervous. It’s not like this is some huge venue.”
“Still.”
“It’s seriously not that big of a deal.”
Seolhwa said that as she checked over the stage.
“Drums are good, and the guitar’s in good shape too.”
While she was doing that, I started warming up my voice.
“Ah, ah—”
My voice was in decent condition.
I could sing most songs decently well.
Of course, it was hard to sing as perfectly as the original track.
‘Well, singing s perfectly as the original isn’t even possible in the first place.’
As long as I sang well enough not to stand out in a bad way, it should be fine.
I was thinking that as I continued to test my voice.
—Hey, I told you to bring it.
—Ugh, I didn’t know!
Suddenly, a loud commotion came from somewhere.
What was that noise?
Sure, the concert venue was already bustling with people.
But even so, this particular noise cut through everything.
‘Who is that?’
Just as I was wondering.
“Unnie, you’re here?”
“Yeah. This place was surprisingly hard to find.”
“Come on, it’s not that hard to find this place.”
“Okay, true.”
I saw Seolhwa chatting with a group.
They seemed pretty close.
What kind of relationship did they have?
They definitely looked familiar with each other.
As I was wondering.
“Oppa, come over here for a sec!”
I slung my bag over my shoulder and slowly walked over.
Seolhwa turned to the others and said.
“This is the oppa I mentioned. He’s been working on some songs lately, and he plays a bit of guitar too.”
The sudden introduction caught me off guard a little, but I bowed my head slightly in greeting.
Seolhwa continued with a smile.
“These are some band members I know. We met while working on a project. I thought it might be fun for you to try playing with them sometime.”
One of them, holding a guitar, waved at me.
“You play guitar, right? Let’s do a jam session sometime.”
I gave a slightly awkward smile and nodded.
I didn’t know Seolhwa had friends like this.
They were unfamiliar faces, but I was curious.
“Ah, yeah, sure.”
After a quick round of greetings, we started walking around the venue and chatting.
“Do you think the sound will carry all the way here, oppa? I feel like it won’t be that clear…”
“I think it’ll be fine. We’re pretty close to the stage.”
I’d never been part of a concert before, so I wasn’t sure.
But from this distance, it seemed like we’d be able to hear everything just fine.
Of course, the concert venue itself was quite large, but that just meant they needed to turn up the sound more.
“Hmm… Still, I’ll test it just in case. You never know. Stay here for a bit, oppa.”
Seolhwa left me standing there and suddenly ran off somewhere.
Then, a moment later.
Brrr-ring.
My phone rang.
It was Seolhwa calling.
“Hello?”
—Ah, oppa.
We gathered the band members just now to run a test, so please check if the sound’s okay.
We can’t have it not being heard.
“Okay.”
I sat down and waited.
Then I began to hear the band playing.
And it was loud.
Even though I was seated way in the back, the sound came through clearly.
‘…If it’s this loud back here, the people in the front are probably getting their ears blasted.’
It was so loud I started to feel worried for the people sitting near the front.
I turned to Seolhwa and said, amazed.
“…It’s actually too loud.”
They’d probably need to lower the volume a bit.
Unless they wanted to blow out someone’s eardrums.
—Oh! Got it. Hold on a sec. I’ll try lowering the sound.
And so, we kept adjusting the sound little by little.
