    Chapter 92.1

    Chapter 92 – Rule 30: The Leader Doesn’t Lose (1)

    Moon Chae-won had awakened.

It was late at night when the sky was dark. After showering and changing into my school uniform, I took a taxi to Ahsung High’s detention center. From there, I used my authority as the Disciplinary Committee Leader to take the elevator down to the lowest level where the prison was located.

Moon Chae-won, bound in restraints that disrupted her magic, greeted me along with a Disciplinary Committee member. A magical barrier of reinforced glass separated the two of us.

    “Leader.”

The committee member saluted me. I returned the salute with a light nod.

Chae-won sat there, her face pale and devoid of makeup, staring blankly ahead. She seemed groggy, like someone who had just woken up from a long sleep.

    “Leave us.”

    “Yes, sir.”

After dismissing the committee member, only Chae-won and I were left.

I took a seat and looked at her. Slowly, the lifelessness in her eyes began to dissipate.

“Oh, you’ve come. Disciplinary Committee Leader.”

    Chae-won smiled brightly.

    “How’s the heart restoration?”

    “It’s done.”

I checked the device monitoring her physical condition.
    Everything was normal.

The full-body restraints were the highest level of confinement, requiring substantial costs. While they disrupted the flow of outward magic, they couldn’t completely block the manipulation of internal magic. Because of this, Chae-won was able to reinforce her heart even while restrained.

Still, I couldn’t help but wonder why Chae-won had willingly restored her heart.

“Have you decided not to die?”

“It doesn’t seem like the right time to die just yet~. But hey, can you loosen these restraints a bit? My back itches, and I can’t scratch it.”

“You seem cheerful, despite your situation.”

“I’ve always been like this. Or maybe it’s just refreshing. You know I slept for a long time after getting beaten by you, right? But seriously, can you scratch my back…?”

    “…….”

For a while, Chae-won and I simply stared at each other.

During our battle, she looked like someone who had given up on life.

Yet somehow, now she seemed to have regained the will to live.

“Did you have a nice dream or something?”

“With how messed up my life is, nightmares are all I can have.”

“No surprise, coming from someone who’s always been pessimistic….”

“You think that’s all there is to me? I do like some things too, you know. For example, I could dream about eating as much pizza as I want, right?”

“That’s trivial. I want to know the real reason you decided to live. What made you change your mind?”

“Haha. You really want to know? Weren’t you the one who said you wouldn’t let me die easily?”

    Chae-won chuckled quietly.

“Don’t ask personal stuff. It’s embarrassing.”

Her face didn’t look embarrassed in the slightest. I wasn’t even sure what part of this was supposed to be embarrassing.

Regardless, it was good news that she had changed her mind.

“…Then, let’s begin the interrogation. You’ll need to tell me everything you know.”

    “Leader.”

Moon Chae-won leaned closer to the glass barrier.

“I know this city’s secrets. But the moment I speak of them, who knows what might happen? Even you might not be able to handle it.”

Chae-won’s eyes widened as she grinned.

    ‘I expected that.’

There was no stopping the Head Principal’s atrocities without exposing the truth to the world.

Most importantly, I had to uncover why the Head Principal was utilizing five of the Six Sinners to cause chaos in the city. What was her goal?

Each of the Six Sinners, including Kim Dalbi, would eventually become figures who build a dystopia in the future.

    Moon Chae-won was no exception.

Was it because of the Head Principal’s will?

    Or was there another reason?

Why were they becoming the harbingers of dystopia?

I needed to answer all these questions.

Only then could I stop the Head Principal and bring her to justice.

    And also…

    “Moon Chae-won.”

    Click.

I turned off the voice communication device.

There were people in the adjacent room monitoring our conversation. Now, they could no longer hear anything that was said here.

I stood up, leaned closer to the glass barrier, and stared into Chae-won’s eyes.

I recalled the self-deprecating words she had uttered when she was disillusioned with her life. The image of her trying to give up on life.

But now, Chae-won was seeking to live again, even hinting at revealing the “secrets of the city.”

I had a hunch as to why.

    “You want revenge, don’t you?”

    Chae-won’s head trembled slightly.

“I know the person behind you can’t be taken down by this city’s laws or regulations. But I’ll catch them. I’ll catch them no matter what it takes.”

I clenched my eyes shut, feeling veins pulse on my forehead.

    I realized anew—I was angry.

For how they had twisted my relationship with Kim Dalbi.

For how they were trying to ruin my life.

For how they had driven Oh Baek-seo, Moon Chae-won, and so many other kids into misery.

“I don’t care if it’s the city’s secrets or something beyond my control. Cooperate with the investigation. If you do, I’ll make sure you get to see that bastard fall into ruin.”

My voice became forceful as I spoke, but it was my genuine intent.

    “Wow…. Haha, that’s impressive.”

Chae-won’s mouth hung open. She then collapsed into her seat and let out a hollow laugh.

    “Hoo….”

She took a deep breath, calming her emotions.

I had said what I needed to say.

Now, all that was left was the investigation.

“You’ll be conducting the interrogation yourself?”

“Yes. Right here, in private. It’s better for me to hear it first.”

Chae-won seemed willing to cooperate with me. If we didn’t conduct the interrogation now, her resolve might waver by the end of the night. There was no time to waste.

“Smart decision. I wouldn’t have spoken to anyone else but you anyway.”

Our conversation wasn’t being leaked anywhere, not even to the first platoon currently managing the area. This was so that I could hear the secret Chae-won wanted to reveal firsthand.

“From this point on, I’ll be recording our conversation. This recording could be used as evidence against you. Do you agree?”

    “I agree.”

Once the Head Principal was brought down, legal battles would be inevitable.

Unlike civil cases, criminal cases required legally recorded files to be admissible, hence the need for Chae-won’s consent.

    Click.

    I started recording.

“First question. I’ve thoroughly searched your underground hideout but found nothing. There was nothing noteworthy about your inventions, either. Is there anything you’re hiding?”

I had been looking for a link between Moon Chae-won and the Head Principal in her underground lair. But so far, I hadn’t found anything significant.

“Of course, you wouldn’t find anything. The hideout was just a decoy.”

    “A decoy?”

“The real purpose of that facility lies below. My hideout was designed to keep signals from being detected underground.”

    “There’s a deeper underground? What’s down there?”

“What you’re looking for. And… a top-secret that must never be revealed to this city.”

“Do you know what I’m looking for?”

“You wanted to find the link between the person controlling me and myself, didn’t you?”

    I sighed.

“…So, you’re willing to expose your connection with the Head Principal.”
