    Will

I watched Luna stretch downward like sticky rice cake, then slowly turned my head to look at the devastated central government.

It’s fortunate that my identity is hidden.

If it were revealed that I did this… I thought our family might be accused of treason or something similar.

    ‘No… that won’t happen.’

Primarily, the people of the Lercier Family would try to hide my identity, so the chances of being discovered are extremely low.

‘Moreover, even if they fail to hide my identity.’

The moment the central government people realize that someone from the Lercier Family is involved in this incident.

They would likely try to compromise and sweep it under the rug.

‘Of course, they’ll make various demands, but that’s it. From their perspective, the Lercier Family is too big of an entity to truly bite into.’

So before the word treason could even come up, I thought there was a high probability that all the blame would be pinned on a suitable criminal as I turned my gaze away.

‘Of course, the family will hold me responsible.’

Even if they do, considering my recent actions, there’s a high chance they’ll let it slide to some extent.

After all, the family motto was that anything is permissible as long as one can prove their abilities.

As I was about to turn back with these thoughts,

I could sense a strange flow of magical energy from one side.

    ‘What’s this?’

It felt similar to when I found the ingredients for the elixir in the past.

As I walked sideways with that feeling, I noticed a magic book lying on the ground.

‘Did it fall when the central government meeting room was destroyed? Or did the bishop drop it while being disintegrated?’

I’m not sure which is the correct answer.

One thing for certain is that despite being subjected to attacks using spatial compression and expansion, it remained ‘intact’.

This suggests it’s not an ordinary item.

Realizing this, I picked it up and said to Luna.

    “Analyze this, please.”

Luna nodded in response while licking her paw.

    [Okay!]

Since she can see through the book anyway, I lifted it up slightly and left her to read it.

Luna examined the contents thoroughly and told me.

[It’s mostly about the Demon King!]

    “The Demon King, huh.”

Despite being called the Heaven God Cult and focusing too much on the Demon God, the final boss repeatedly mentioned in the original novel was the ‘Demon King’.

Hearing this, I slowly turned my gaze to Luna and said.

    “Tell me more details.”

[Hmm… It roughly says that if the Demon King uses a special medium, he can descend as the Demon God!]

    … Descent, not resurrection?

The moment I heard those words, I felt something twisting and had to stop moving for a moment.

‘Could it be that the Demon King is not trying to resurrect the Demon God, but rather trying to become the Demon God himself?’

As this thought crossed my mind, I could roughly guess why the Heaven God Cult had been doing such inefficient things.

‘Elixir ingredients, seeds of negativity, Rumi, the Library of Illusions.’

At first glance, it seems like a series of unrelated things.

But if you think of them as preparations for the Demon King to become the Demon God, it starts to make sense.

As these things fell into place in my mind, I could come to one conclusion.

‘I need to deal with the Demon King before he becomes the Demon God.’

The moment he becomes the Demon God, all the burden will fall on ‘Rumi’.

Furthermore, it would lead to a situation where it’s questionable whether Rumi could even defeat him.

I had to resolve all situations before such a scenario could occur.

    ‘The Demon King, huh.’

I let out a light sigh as I tucked the magic book I had just acquired into my chest.

Now that a clear goal had been set, all that remained was to do my best to achieve it.

With these thoughts, I slowly made my way home.

    *

As soon as I returned home, I was summoned by the family head after quite a while.

Wondering why he suddenly called me after leaving me alone with near-neglectful indifference, I entered the family head’s room.

As always, I see the family head processing documents in his office.

‘Nothing has changed since I first came here.’

The atmosphere he exuded then, the work he was doing.

I slowly met his gaze as the family head, exuding a cynical atmosphere, slowly turned his attention towards me while writing documents.

‘When I first encountered him, I was terrified because I had no abilities and was in a position of dependence.’

Now that I’ve sufficiently proven my abilities and gained the capacity to handle being expelled from here, there’s no need to be afraid anymore.

As I was thinking this while silently making eye contact, the head of the family spoke to me in an emotionless voice.

“I’ve heard you’ve been up to some interesting things lately.”

Not knowing what he meant by ‘interesting things’, I kept my mouth shut.

The head of the family put down the quill pen he was holding on the desk and said.

“According to the butler, you’ve had a conflict with a group called the Heaven God Cult. What’s the reason for that?”

Considering the Lercier Family’s intelligence network, it was highly likely that the head of the family had already grasped the entire situation and context.

Thinking it would be better to speak honestly rather than lie and arouse suspicion, I spoke frankly.

“They tried to assassinate me within the Academy, so I had to take revenge.”

Of course, since being completely honest would be disadvantageous, I omitted a few truths while speaking.

The head of the family silently looked at me, then turned his gaze away and said.

    “You may go now.”

    “……”

I’m bewildered by how anticlimactically it ended.

As I was feeling strange about the head of the family’s attitude and about to turn around.

The head of the family briefly added.

“… The Lercier Family doesn’t abandon members who have proven their worth, so there’s no need to worry.”

With those words, I was magically pushed out, and the door closed.

As I was feeling perplexed by the head of the family’s unexpected words.

The butler, who had been waiting nearby, approached me and spoke.

“Young master, the head of the family has promised full support, so if there’s anything you need, please don’t hesitate to tell me.”

    “… Full support?”

“Yes. From military aspects to financial matters. Please feel free to ask for anything.”

I couldn’t help but feel a series of surprises at this unexpected turn of events.

I never imagined the head of the family would back me to this extent.

‘Did they make a judgment and decide it would be good to support me? Or is it really because of the family motto of not abandoning its members, as mentioned earlier?’

I couldn’t know exactly why it turned out this way.

For now, I thought it was quite an attractive proposition and smiled.

‘In any case, what’s important now is that I can use the power of the Lercier Family even more freely.’

Thinking that I could use this to put more pressure on the Heaven God Cult, I spoke to the butler.

    “Then, I have one request.”

    “Yes. Please tell me anything.”

At those words, I made one request to alleviate the worry caused by the consecutive terrorist attacks.

“Please make sure to set up defenses in advance so that the Heaven God Cult cannot raid Sien and Delia’s homes.”

    “I will see to it.”

Seeing him nod, I inwardly sighed with relief.

If the head of the family is willing to offer such extensive support, they surely won’t settle for half-hearted defenses.

‘Now, the remaining headache is Rumi, I suppose.’

Thinking about how to deal with Rumi, I ran my hand through my hair.

‘It’s certain that she’s come to dislike me because of what happened last time…’

The problem is how to solve this… No, maybe there’s no need to solve it.

Come to think of it, I don’t even know what will happen to me after seeing the ending, so I thought there was no need to improve relationships for a future I don’t know.

‘I can think about it when the time comes, that’s the issue.’

So I decided to wait and see what happens before making a decision and moved to my room.

‘… And I just remembered. If a future where I disappear after the ending comes.’

Since I might be returned to Earth immediately regardless of my will, it seemed better to prepare for this in advance.

‘It would be good to write a letter or something.’

However, explaining the concept of possession and return is too complicated, and they might think I’ve come to dislike them if I’m not careful.

I thought it would be good to write a letter as a kind of will for those left behind.

    ‘A will, huh.’

If others were to discover this, all kinds of commotion would break out, so it would be best to hide it as thoroughly as possible.

    ‘But I don’t know when I’ll die, and I don’t know when I’ll return.’

It would be good to hide it, but in a place where it could be found someday.

After all, a ‘letter’ was something that needed to be discovered.

‘So let’s go back and write a letter for now.’

I decided that if I remained here even after defeating the Demon King, I would dispose of it, and slowly made my way to my room.
