Chapter 91: S#15. From Twilight to Space (5)

    The spaceship hatch opened.

Miller stuck his head out. Sharp fangs could be seen beyond his open jaws.

I took a mirror out of my pocket. I tilted the cracked mirror surface toward Miller.

Even though Miller was an alien werewolf vampire, his reflection appeared in the mirror.

It was a trait of the hybrid.

“It’s been a while since I’ve met such a persistent human. You seem to be worse than Mr. Brooke.”

    Miller jabbered.

I kicked off the ground and leaped. Miller quickly closed the spaceship hatch.

The Gatling gun mounted on the roof of the hull moved. The barrel spun with a whirring sound.

I didn’t want to become minced meat, so I reached out and pushed the Gatling gun with all my strength.

The barrel was lifted upwards, firing vertically. The barrage of bullets pierced the ceiling and roof, scattering into the night sky. It looked like it would reach the full moon.

I grabbed and tore at the hatch. I snatched Miller by the collar as he was about to start the spaceship.

    “Got you, you bastard.”

“You’re stronger than most alphas. Are you a hybrid like me?”

    “Where’s your leader?”

    “Next to you.”

Suddenly, a massive impact spread through my abdomen. It felt like my intestines were being crushed by a hydraulic press.

    It was someone’s kick.

I flew helplessly and hit a pillar. The pillar shattered. So did my back.

My dislocated body and mind rolled roughly from the shock.

    “Ugh…”

I barely lifted my upper body while coughing up blood.

The one who had landed a bomb kick to my abdomen was standing in front of the spaceship.

It was the girl next door.

A mysterious figure I had known as the daughter of the Miller couple.

The saying “the darkest place is under the lamp” was true. The leader lived right next door.

The girl looked at me intently as I stood up in an awkward position.

    Jet-black hair. Long, thick eyelashes.

Her skin was pale as snow. Her revealed black ears and tail exuded an air of dignity.

“So, it’s you. The one who disturbed my kingdom.”

A neutral voice flowed from the girl’s mouth.

There was a majesty befitting the king of alien werewolf vampires.

I spat blood and opened my mouth.

“You… How did you get in here… You shouldn’t be able to step into someone’s house without an invitation.”

The second trait of alien werewolf vampires: “Without an invitation, they can never step into someone’s abode.”

Even if hybrids were excluded, the leader of alien vampires shouldn’t be free from the trait’s restrictions.

The girl smiled coldly and headed towards Nancy, who was lying on the table.

“Of course, I was invited. By this beautiful woman.”

    “……”

“She drunkenly invited me into the house. Wanting to befriend this woman, I did not refuse the offer.”

She must have been hiding somewhere in this house and then kicked me. That cunning b*tch.

The girl licked her long tongue. Her red tongue licked Nancy’s white, slender neck.

“Among the women I’ve seen, she looks the most… delicious.”

Sharp fangs seemed ready to sink into Nancy at any moment.

I couldn’t just stand by and watch. I charged like a rugby player, ramming the girl with my shoulder.

We broke through the front door and rolled out onto the street together with the vampire leader.

A full moon hung in the night sky. The girl’s eyes, filled with moonlight, emitted a red, ominous glow.

To turn Ellen Strode back into a human, I swung my fist intending to destroy her.

But the girl was faster. She struck my jaw with her small fist.

The power of her punch was formidable. My brain buzzed.

While I staggered, the girl pushed my chest with both hands.

My muscular body, weighing nearly 125kg, was lightly thrown into the yard.

“I do not forgive those who disturb my kingdom. I gouged out the eyes of an insolent black man who defied me. You will pay with your life.”

“This city… is not your kingdom……”

    “Is that so?”

The girl leaped high. The large full moon became her backdrop.

    Two feet landed near me.

    Boom────!

The ground shook. The house jolted, and the lawn in the yard overturned.

A hazy smoke rose around the girl.

I held my breath. I narrowly escaped; if I hadn’t, I would have been in the afterlife.

One mistake in this fight meant death.

“You avoided my strike. You’re a slippery one for your size.”

“You’re pretty small for a werewolf.”

Provoked, the girl lunged at me.

    Clawed hands with sharp nails—

I dodged by tilting my body sideways.

I grabbed the girl’s forearm. It was thin, but incredibly strong.

Even with my grip strength, my muscles trembled.

I heard an engine behind me.

A flying saucer approached. It was the spaceship Miller was piloting.

It was rushing at us, so I let go of the girl’s arm and dodged.

As if one vampire leader wasn’t enough, now the spaceship was joining in.

The barrel of the Gatling gun spun.

“Yes, it wouldn’t be bad to turn an arrogant human into an unrecognizable beehive. Fire.”

The girl laughed and ordered Miller.

The gun was aimed precisely at me.

At this distance, dodging would be difficult. Was this how I was going to die?

At the moment of firing, someone clung to the Gatling gun.

“For the past nine years… I’ve waited for this moment…”

    It was Brooke.

Even without his lower half, he was conscious.

He hung onto the Gatling gun and redirected its aim.

The barrage of bullets was directed not at me, but at the girl.

The girl dodged quickly. Only shadowy afterimages were left in the trajectory.

“Summer… Remember the experiences we’ve had fighting up until now…!!!”

    Brooke shouted.

His voice was clear even amid the continuous gunfire.

The flashes from the Gatling gun flickered with his fury.

    “Use her weakness…!!!”

Blood gushed from the torn lower half of his body. The spaceship moved to shake Brooke off.

A shredded lung slipped out from the torn part.

Brooke struggled to breathe. He had long surpassed the limits of a human.

His dying body clung to the cold Gatling gun, but his resurrected spirit clung to his departed wife.

With all his remaining strength, he twisted the Gatling gun. The stream of bullets headed not toward the girl but a different target.

    The girl sneered.

    “You missed!”

    “…I didn’t miss.”

No, it wasn’t a random target.

Brook’s aim was the fire hydrant installed on the street.

The fire hydrant shattered, and water sprayed out.

A long, cool stream of water sprayed everywhere.

The weakness of alien werewolf vampires… water.

    “This petty trick…!”

I grabbed the girl by her hair and threw her towards the gushing water.

The vampire, now taking a shower in the moonlight, screamed and thrashed.

Brooke fell off the Gatling gun and collapsed onto the spaceship roof.

His skin was burnt from the heat of the barrel.

He lifted his burned arm, trembling. A crossbow attached to his wrist unfolded its wings.

    He fired a silver arrow.

The girl, having wiped off the water, opened her red eyes.

The silver arrows fired by Brooke flew towards her.

But in his dying state, his aim was off.

Many silver arrows missed their target.

The few that flew straight were easily deflected by the girl with a swipe of her hand.

    “This is the last… shot……”

Brooke turned his head with difficulty.

Suddenly, he aimed the crossbow at me.

    The trigger was pulled.

The last silver arrow flew towards me.

    The girl laughed cruelly.

“Ha ha, you fool! Where are you aiming?!”

    “…It didn’t miss.”

    Indeed, it hadn’t missed.

Brooke’s final aim was precise. I caught the flying silver arrow in midair.

The weakness of alien werewolf vampires… silver.

Using my remaining strength, I leaped high.

I drove the silver arrow I held into the girl’s eye.

    “Ugh… aaaaah…!!! My eye…!!!!”

    “I’ll leave you one eye.”

Because there was something I wanted to show her.

Something rose above the clouds. It was the round sun.

The cold moonlight vanished, and the hot dawn light enveloped the ground.

The weakness of alien werewolf vampires… the sun.

The risen sun’s light reflected in the vampire’s remaining eye.

    “Yaaaarrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!”

The girl screamed. Her wolf ears and tail turned into flames.

Unable to endure the pain, she collapsed as the spaceship hatch opened.

    Miller shouted.

    “Dad!”

    Dad…?

    I doubted my ears.

Miller ran toward the girl engulfed in flames.

    “Dad, dad… sob…!”

    Miller sobbed.

    “Don’t cry, son…”

    That’s what the vampire said.

    It was absurd.

Not a girl, but a boy… and he was Miller’s father.

Come to think of it, vampires didn’t age.

The old woman living in Miller’s house was this vampire’s wife.

    Miller wept bitterly.

The leader’s body disintegrated in the sunlight.

    I yawned contentedly.

    “Extermination successful. It’s over now.”

“It is not over… I am not the progenitor you seek…”

“What do you mean by that all of a sudden? Weren’t you the leader?”

“I am the king of this city, but I am not the true progenitor of the werewolf vampires.”

The vampire spoke as it crumbled.

    I was dumbfounded.

“I do not know where the progenitor is… Probably in India or Egypt…”

    India or Egypt…?

This was f*cked. I had vowed to turn Ellen back into a human.

Everything I’d risked my life hunting for until now had been in vain.

I stared blankly at the residential area, wrecked by the spaceship chase and the battle with the vampire.

The vampire turned to ash and was blown away by the wind.

    Raei  Translations

Four hours later, in the emergency room of the general hospital.

Ellen lay in a hospital bed.

There were no longer any ears, tail, or fangs to be seen. She drank water normally, and even ate a sandwich a little while ago.

Ellen was no longer an alien werewolf vampire. She was completely cured.

It was thanks to the injection given by Zelda Hyper.

“Zelda, what did you inject into Ellen?”

    “A rabies shot.”

    “Rabies…?”

“Yeah, you said she was afraid of sunlight and water, right? Sounded like rabies symptoms to me. I used a medicine I made myself.”

The true nature of alien werewolf vampires was none other than cosmic rabies. A simple rabies that could be easily cured with the medicine made by the Hyper sisters.

Next to Ellen’s bed was Brooke’s bed.

Despite having his lower half torn off and suffering full-body burns, he miraculously survived.

Wrapped in bandages like a mummy, he looked up at Zelda with a dazed expression.

    “No… then my wife…”

“Was your wife also infected with rabies?”

    Zelda took out a syringe.

“Don’t worry. It’s not that serious, if we treat her now, we can cure it!”

    “No, Zelda, his wife…”

    “Where is she?”

“She… passed away 9 years ago.”

And Brooke had killed her with his own hands…

Brooke’s shoulders shook violently. An indescribable emotion filled his one open eye.

    Beep── Beeeeeeeep──── Beeeeeeeep────────

The EKG monitor showed a flat line. The heart rate dropped to zero.

Thus, the vampire hunter died in shock with his eyes open.

I prayed for Brooke and his wife.
