Chapter 91: Death Dragon (2)
by fnovelpia
She really have a unique sense of humor.
There’s a saying that people only notice what they’re familiar with.
For someone who can’t even tempt properly, what’s in that head of yours?
“No, that’s unfair! Hey, why are you looking at me like that?”
“Anyway, shall we begin? Everyone, get your weapons ready.”
It’s time for everyone to strike with their weapons.
“Who goes first?”
“I’ll break its skull first. Then everyone can charge.”
“Sounds good. Not a bad idea.”
“Do you think you can cut through that with the Cheonma Slash?”
If it’s the Cheonma Slash, it could probably slice through those massive bones.
It looks like we need to crack that skull.
“It’s not impossible.”
“I guess I’m useless this time.”
The young girl looked deflated.
But that’s not true—she’s done well up until now.
That’s good enough.
From now on, it’s the grown-ups’ turn.
It’s time for the kid to rest.
Though, if she keeps poking at my chest on the broadcast, I won’t let it slide.
“You’ve done enough by guiding us. Let the adults handle it now.”
“I’m not a kid!”
“Sure, if you say so. Even the fish should join the attack now.”
There’s no time to be picky right now.
The fish need to attack together as well.
“Where should we aim?”
“Everyone has a weak point. It’s the head.”
“Got it.”
Good.
The time has come.
There’s no reason to hesitate anymore.
“Alright, let’s all attack!”
Crack!
I struck the skull with all my might.
“Aaarghhh!”
With a foul breath, the raid on the death dragon began.
Starting with the Cheonma slash, the battle mage’s giant spear pierced the dragon’s skull with ferocity and intensity.
Crash!
We didn’t stop at one hit.
I swung my mace again, followed by the battle mage’s spear and the Cheonma’s Strike.
The spear and the Cheonma’s attacks exploded in unison.
In battles like these, you have to hit multiple times, not just once.
Boom! Crash!
The death dragon, which had been sleeping, had to endure a barrage of ultimate attacks.
Not just one, but many.
Its bony body took all of it.
It seems pitiful, but that’s its fault.
If it didn’t want this, it shouldn’t have been born a boss monster.
In an instant, dust filled the surroundings.
But we could definitely hear the sound of something breaking.
And then…
“Screeeeeeech!”
“Ugh, that’s disgusting.”
The death dragon raised its head.
Even after all that beating, it was still moving.
Its legs weren’t able to move, but honestly, I was a bit shocked.
How is that thing still standing?
“Wow, this thing is seriously tough. What’s going on?”
“Right? I didn’t think my mace wouldn’t be able to break it in one hit.”
The dragon’s skull was still intact.
This isn’t right.
Are you telling me to break that?
If my mace can’t do it, nothing will.
“So, is this going to be tougher than we thought?”
“No way. It can’t be that bad, can it?”
No matter how tough it is, it can’t go that badly.
Definitely not.
[Wow, that skull’s not breaking.]
[What’s up with that thing?]
[That’s huge. Can they even take it down?]
[I heard the guild’s moving in too.]
Yeah, this does seem a bit tough.
Even the viewers started to find it strange that the skull wasn’t breaking.
Boom!
“So, what? Are we just going to stand here watching this dragon go berserk?”
No, that’s not happening.
I’m not planning to just leave it at that.
If we want to get out of here, we need to do something about it.
“There’s only one answer. It’s not like we’re not dealing damage. Look, see that crack?”
A crack had appeared on one side of the skull.
In other words, we’re doing some damage.
If we keep pounding away, sooner or later that skull will shatter completely, and I’ll win.
Yeah, there’s definitely a chance.
“And?”
“Basically, we just need to keep smashing its skull until it breaks.”
“What the hell…”
The plan is simple: keep smashing until it’s destroyed.
[Wow, perfect logic there, Saint.]
[Kanora Church! Kanora Church! Kanora Church!]
[What’s this Kanora Church thing?]
[This plan is as grand as her… well, you know…]
These couch potatoes sure love watching.
At least it’s helpful that the Heavenly King Guild’s Jeon Tae-yeon is stirring things up with the whole Kanora Church thing.
“Grrroooaaar!”
“For now, it seems like the priority is to block its attacks, right?”
The skull seemed quite angry.
From the look on its face, it appeared ready to cause us some serious trouble at any moment.
Crash…..Roar….
Rotten green gas spewed from the dragon’s mouth, disgusting to the core.
The eerie green gas started spreading through the air, carried by the wind, blanketing the surroundings.
Since it couldn’t move its legs, it resorted to this kind of attack.
“As expected, that’s it,”
“Yeah, it’s exactly the attack we thought.”
Just by looking, you could tell it was a “you’re screwed if you touch this” kind of attack.
As the gas spread, a bad feeling started to settle in.
“What is that?”
“What do you think? It’s obviously a ‘you’re screwed breath.’”
“Wait, it’s melting everything around it!”
Grrr
Everything the breath touched, whether it was rocks or anything else, began to melt.
[Respawn Field]
[Purification]
Just in case, I activated the Respawn Field.
Then I added Purification to reduce the damage from that breath attack as much as possible.
I should’ve properly learned a purification skill.
“Alright, everyone who can’t block this, gather around me!”
“Dammit, this is why I didn’t want to come here!”
Roar
Bones—
I didn’t know how it had such an ability, but the wind carrying the green gas reached us in an instant.
If regular people got hit by this, they would’ve been done for.
What about Cheonma and Battle mage?
I didn’t have time to protect them.
“Seriously, I want to curse so bad.”
“That gas seems really dangerous.”
Battle mage and Cheonma were holding on decently.
The two fish-like creatures looked a bit worse for wear but seemed to be managing, just slumping over.
“You can tell just by looking, right?”
“So what now? Damn it, won’t that thing use something else besides gas?”
“The gas isn’t stopping, is it?”
The dragon kept spewing its breath, which smelled like rotten decay, without pause.
It was as if it was daring us to do something about it—maybe to mess with me after I swore to keep smashing its head in.
“I feel like I’m going to die!”
“Is your body melting? Don’t worry! You’ll revive in the Respawn Field.”
Even if we die, we’ll revive.
So there’s no real issue—at least for now.
“Damn it! You’re planning on us dying, aren’t you? That’s not the point! My nose feels paralyzed from that stench! It’s like poison to mermaids! Look, the siren’s already out of it.”
Such an overreaction.
I mean, we’re not like dogs with crazy good noses.
I picked up the fallen siren and tossed her backward.
“Wait, what do we do? Isn’t there something we can do?”
“For now, we need to block it.”
“Can’t we block that gas with Holy Crash?”
“Oh, right.”
Can I actually do that?
Holy Crash is a sacred attack I came up with, and it does borrow the power of the gods.
So maybe it’ll work?
It’s worth a shot.
-It’s possible.
Why tell me that now?
-Did you ask?
Looks like the goddess doesn’t love me as much anymore now that she has more followers.
She’s such a pain, honestly.
No wonder I can’t stop cursing.
Well, since we’re talking about it, let’s give it a shot.
“Holy Crash!”
Boom
Luckily, I was able to repel the breath with Holy Crash.
If only this could also take down the dragon, that would be perfect.
But of course, that’s not going to happen.
“Ahh, finally, my nose is clearing up.”
“Wow, is this thing all-purpose?”
The two fish were thrilled to be free from the stench, but no, it’s not all-purpose.
“Not yet. The dragon is still fine.”
“Then how about blocking its mouth?”
We definitely can’t move forward while breathing in that gas.
We can’t just die at the hands of some hellish lizard.
“There’s a huge boulder over there. Think we can plug its mouth with that?”
The succubus pointed to a massive boulder in a corner.
But considering that the breath was melting everything in its path, it was a ridiculous suggestion.
“No, that’s not a good idea.”
“Will it even block it? The dragon’s breath melts rock. If we stuff it in its mouth, it’ll probably just melt it right away.”
We need to shove something more resilient in its mouth.
If only it was just regular breath. Instead, it’s nothing but pure stench.
“What about breaking off its jaw?”
“Breaking its jaw?”
“Yeah, its jaw looks weak, so if we all strike it at once, it might come off.”
This time, I decided to use every bit of strength I had.
It would’ve been nice if the Young girl could use her tricks, but it seemed she couldn’t use her ability at the moment.
Well, if she could use it anytime, that would be totally overpowered.
“Do you think it’s possible?”
“Let’s do this. While it’s not attacking yet, we’ll go for the jaw from all sides. We need to take it down before another guild shows up.”
“A guild is coming?”
“Yeah. They’re probably going to try and get in on the action. Another guild will just be a hindrance to us.”
There might be guild members as skilled as us, but they’d still get in the way.
Guilds are just after their own slice of the pie, nothing more, nothing less.
If we accept help from a guild, the public might start seeing them in a positive light.
To make sure the hunters take the heat, we have to tarnish the guilds’ reputation—except for Kanora.
[Kanora! Kanora!]
[Karina! Karina!]
[What’s this girl crush vibe…]
I glanced at the chat—it seemed pretty decent.
“Are you still streaming?”
“Yeah, I can still keep going for now.”
Even in the midst of all this, the young streamer was focused on her broadcast.
It was a strangely fitting combination—one side dealing with unexpected struggles, while the other continued streaming.
Since it’s on live stream, I kind of want to make it a perfect hero story.
Is this the streamer mindset?
“Guys, I found a weak spot.”
Oh, it was Ttaengchilli.
The android Ttaengchilli finally crawled out from wherever it had been hiding.
“Were you here? What were you doing, Ttaengchilli, sneaking out like this?”
“I’ve been looking for its weak spot the whole time.”
Oh, that’s news to me.
