Chapter 89: Nice 4
by AfuhfuihgsWhether they were heroes or holy knights…
Humans like them always flocked here.
They were good toys to pass the boring time, but now, even that had grown tiresome.
“The source of the evil energy is here! Nys is over there!”
One of the knights pointed at me.
His voice was quite confident.
Perhaps because he was with the hero, he didn’t seem to be an ordinary knight.
“Hello~ human-nims~”
I waved my hand in greeting.
They did not let their guard down.
Their armor was excellent, and I could see a few valuable-looking magic items.
“You who created this cursed land, leave this place! Do not create any more victims!”
A laugh escaped me.
How cute human righteousness is!
“Cursed? This is just my taste. And these are just background props for atmosphere.”
With a wave of my hand, the surrounding ghouls and skeletons all collapsed.
They returned to their state as corpses.
Then, with a snap of my fingers, the ground split open and the real undead rose up.
Death knights, liches, banshees, bone colossi, and countless other undead surrounded the knights.
“Wh-what is this!”
A man who appeared to be a mage was horrified.
“So just go back. I’ll let you live if you just leave~”
But they only moved closer.
‘Quite brave, aren’t they?’
“We cannot let a demon like you rule this land!”
The man who seemed to be the hero drew his sword.
It was a shining holy sword.
‘Quite a fine item.’
“The judgment of the sun awaits you!”
“Oh, what a cliché line. Don’t you have anything more creative?”
The battle between the undead and the humans began.
However, the humans were not to be underestimated.
The hero burned the undead with his holy sword, and the mages cast quite powerful spells.
The fight dragged on longer than expected.
‘This is getting really boring now.’
‘But why does it feel like they’re only coming for me?’
‘It seems they haven’t even gone near Prostia’s side.’
‘Could it be… that I’m the easier target?’
“Hah… I don’t like my original form, but…”
‘Polymorph.’
My dress began to evaporate as if it were peeling off one layer at a time, and cracks formed on my skin, turning into black scales.
A red light, like lava, seeped through the cracks, but it had a strange beauty, like red jewels shining in the darkness.
My entire body flowed like a wave, stretching out, each movement unpredictable yet possessing a strange rhythm.
The process of my face changing was both violent and delicate.
My jaw opened menacingly, revealing sharp teeth, but their shape formed a regular pattern, like the thorns of an ancient crown.
My eyes grew larger, and my blood-red pupils elongated vertically, in which a depth like an abyss could be felt.
“What, what is happening?”
The humans backed away in terror.
Someone dropped their sword, and another wet themselves on the spot.
One mage tried to cast a spell but was choked with fear and couldn’t speak.
My body grew increasingly massive.
First twice the size of a human, then as big as a house, and finally, it stretched to a size that seemed to pierce the sky.
Each of my scales became as large as a shield, and darkness seeped out from between them, dyeing the surroundings in shadow.
I shed my human form and transformed into the shape of a snake.
But not an ordinary snake. The world serpent that could swallow everything, Jörmungandr.
This was my true form.
Thump, thud…
My vibrations shook the ground.
My body was now large enough to encircle a city.
My black scales absorbed even the moonlight, and my red eyes shone like two moons.
“Aaaaargh!”
The knights screamed.
How insignificant their power was.
With a single sweep of my body, everything was wiped away.
The forest was shattered, and the earth was split.
The hero and his knights exploded the moment they were hit by my tail.
“This can’t be… Sir Hero of the Sun…”
A mage who had barely survived despaired.
‘Yes, you run away and tell them what kind of being I am.’
‘If you dare challenge me again thinking I’m weaker than Prostia, you’ll end up just like that hero!’
. . .
Several weeks passed.
The rumors must have spread, as not a single human approached.
I could only continue to wait, but there was still no news of Lyco.
“She’s taking a really long time…”
I sighed, sipping tea at a newly erected red table.
This table was made from the hero’s holy sword.
I thought it was a rather nice piece of work.
Just then, I heard a strange sound from afar.
It was the sound of collective kneeling and prayer.
“Huh?”
I lifted my head to see dozens of people shouting something at the bottom of the hill.
They were all wearing black robes, and on them was embroidered the symbol of the Ouroboros.
“Oh my, what is this?”
Curiosity piqued, I rose from my throne and approached them.
When I appeared, they began to kneel and pray even more fervently.
“Great Ouroboros, Lord Nys! Please accept our worship!”
The people in black robes bowed to me.
‘Eh?’
‘Ouroboros?’
‘That foolish snake that eats its own tail?’
‘What on earth are they mistaken about!’
Just as I was about to feed them all to the undead in this absurd situation, the one who appeared to be the leader of the group brought up an interesting story.
“Great Lord Ouroboros, we have only now realized that you are the messenger of Lord Abraxas! We will offer you everything!”
Pfft.
They must have seen me in my Jörmungandr form and thought I was the Ouroboros, a symbol of the evil god.
“Hmm, so what will you offer?”
As I asked, fanning myself with the black fan in my hand, they immediately began to display the items they had brought.
Food, treasures, and even sacrifices.
Delicious dishes and desserts, brilliant jewels…
‘Hmm, I quite like this.’
“Lord Ouroboros, we were creating a passage as per Lord Abraxas’s teachings. But now that you have come in person, we will create the passage here again!”
“A passage, you say? Explain in detail.”
The leader bowed his head and answered.
“Great Lord Ouroboros, since the human and demon worlds were severed five thousand years ago, Lord Abraxas has been continuously striving to connect the two worlds. Now, we are finally able to complete the magic circle, and we were assisting with that ritual.”
‘Oh… these fools.’
A wicked plan formed in my mind.
A passage connecting the demon and human worlds…
Evil gods would cross through that passage…
“Excellent, create the passage at once!”
At my command, they began to draw a complex magic circle on the ground with joyful expressions.
The magic circle grew larger and larger, emitting an ominous aura.
While they worked, I enjoyed the food and desserts they had brought.
The delicious meat dishes and sweet desserts were truly wonderful.
They were perfectly to my taste.
“Hehehe…”
A small laugh escaped me.
These foolish followers were trying to summon an evil god, but they knew nothing of my past.
In the distant past, I was an ordinary snake.
The reason I was able to become the ruler of the Great Labyrinth was because I ate evil gods.
The first time, I accidentally came across the corpse of an evil god.
The second time, by a stroke of luck, I found a wounded one. From the third time onwards, having grown stronger, I hunted them myself.
I have eaten five evil gods so far, and their power was truly delicious.
Each time I ate an evil god, I grew stronger, and my abilities improved significantly.
Even if multiple evil gods were to pour out at once when the passage opens, evil gods who descend to the human world can only use half of their original power.
But me?
I now possess the power to overwhelm two evil gods at once, and if need be, I can ask Prostia next door for help.
‘It’s been a truly long time since I’ve seen an evil god… I will devour them all and become even stronger.’
It will be my greatest feast.
The mere thought of it was delightful.
“Lord Ouroboros, we have determined the location to draw the magic circle. We are now about to begin the ritual. May we have your permission?”
One of the followers asked politely.
His bowed form was quite cute.
“Of course, you may begin.”
As I gestured elegantly, the followers began the ritual in unison.
They stood in a circle around the magic circle and began to chant.
The magic circle started to glow red.
Watching the ritual proceed, I thought.
‘It would be good to feed an evil god to Lyco as well.’
Before long, Lyco will hear the rumors and come to find me.
And together with Lyco, we will greet the evil gods of the demon world.
Of course, they will become our meal.
‘Prostia will like it too. I’m sure of it.’
It was truly fortunate that Jörmungandr and Ouroboros looked similar.
These foolish followers mistook me for a messenger of an evil god, but in reality, I was the one who would devour their god.
“Great Lord Ouroboros, the passage ritual we have been preparing for months was originally scheduled to take another three months.
However, with your advent, we have found such a perfect ritual site.
With the offerings and materials already prepared, we can complete it in ten days! It is truly a great blessing that Lord Abraxas sent you!”
‘Ten days… that’s enough.’
That would be enough time for Lyco to arrive.
Just as flowers bloom and birds take flight, my precious and cute Lyco will soon find her way here.
I thought as I ate a macaron at the holy sword table.
What would Lyco’s reaction be when she sees this sight?
She would probably be surprised at first, but she would soon come to like it.
The body of an evil god is unimaginably delicious.
‘Lyco… what will she look like?’
The thought alone made my heart swell.
What would the human form of that lovely flower be like, and how beautiful would she be?
“I’ll be waiting, Lyco. Prostia is also eagerly waiting for you.”
