Chapter 881: End of Revenge (2

The first expression on Nari’s face when I showed her Geum Jangmi, who had already been captured and brought in, was truly like that of a child receiving a Christmas present.

It seemed likely that Geum Jangmi, who had directly inflicted phantom pain, had suffered more than Geum Dallae. Although Geum Dallae had passively observed and agreed, she apparently wasn’t the one who took the lead in tormenting her.

Conversely, Geum Jangmi’s expression upon first facing Nari was truly something to behold. Her eyes alone conveyed a look that said, ‘So you were the culprit.’

    “Ugh!! Eugh!! Eueueugh!!”

Although her mouth was gagged, preventing her from fully expressing her thoughts.

It couldn’t be helped. Even after being told it wouldn’t work, she kept biting her tongue so fiercely that I had no choice but to forcibly immobilize it.

I couldn’t allow her to escape the suffering she deserved, just by fainting or something. Especially considering what she had done to Nari up until now.

Explaining how to use Geum Jangmi, who was bound entirely and covered in wires, or rather, how to torture her, wasn’t difficult at all. Most of the torture methods were similar to how Geum Dallae was handled, with just a few additions.

Just adding extra rules specific to Geum Jangmi, like ‘be careful, she’s still aggressive and might try to bite with her teeth,’ or ‘if she refuses to eat, feed her from below.’

And even mentioning that if desired, torture could go so far as to break her mind completely. After all, if only one of them, No. 2, could be properly tamed, there was no need to use No. 1 anymore, so it didn’t matter if she broke now.

    “Nari Agassi.”

    “…Yes, Sungchul-ssi.”

“I’ll be waiting just outside the door, so please enjoy yourself to your heart’s content, Nari Agassi, and come out when you’re done.”

I didn’t particularly need to observe Nari tormenting No. 1. It was probably just torture with a higher intensity than what she inflicted on No. 2.

I had no intention of stopping her from pouring out all the pent-up resentment she had accumulated onto Geum Jangmi, but I didn’t particularly want to witness it myself.

After torturing the two women for several days, I was starting to get tired of this whole ordeal. This whole thing was initiated solely for Eunbyul in the first place, so once I handed it over to her, I didn’t want to bother with it anymore.

    “Ugh…!! Ugh…!!”

Of course, as I was about to leave while the torture was in full swing, Geum Jangmi desperately shook her head. She probably meant, ‘Don’t leave me alone here with Geum Nari.’

Well, Bitch No. 1’s wishes didn’t really matter anymore. Judging by Eunbyul’s markedly different attitude, it seemed pretty clear who she intended to raise as her informant dog.

“Alright, good work. I think I need to have a very… intense time with this damn bitch I haven’t seen in ages, so I’ll enjoy myself thoroughly before leaving.”

    “I’ll be waiting, Nari Agassi.”

    “Ugh! Ugh…!!”

    -Clack.

And so, after leaving Nari alone with No. 1 in the torture chamber to have her fill of their private time.

About three hours later, Eunbyul emerged from the torture chamber, drenched in sweat and breathing heavily, clearly exhausted in more ways than one.

    “Haa, ha, haaaa….”

“Looks like you had quite the enjoyable time.”

“…I apologize. For showing such an unkempt appearance as a servant….”

“Can’t be helped. It’s been years, hasn’t it? It was your first chance to get revenge on the sisters who kept exploiting you.”

    “…….”

“So, how do you feel? Did it relieve some of the burden?”

Eunbyul lowered her gaze quietly and answered my question.

It wasn’t the satisfying answer I had somewhat expected.

“I feel a bit sorry saying this to you, Master, after you went to such lengths to prepare this situation….”

    “It’s fine, tell me.”

“To be honest, it feels a little hollow. It makes me feel like a fool for having avoided women like these for so long.”

    “…….”

“Of course, I’m not complaining about you, Master, for making this happen. If you hadn’t been here, I would have had to continue an endless life of running and hiding, let alone getting revenge. Or perhaps those women might have not only kidnapped me but also done worse.

But now that it’s happened, I feel like I’ve become like those sisters back then… Honestly, I’m not as happy as I thought I’d be. Although, not having to live in hiding, constantly avoiding people’s gazes, is a great fortune in itself.”

Well, I kind of expected this reaction. Eunbyul’s personality wasn’t really the type to enjoy revenge in the first place.

She was more the type to bottle things up and suffer internally rather than vent through revenge. That’s probably why, even with the chance for revenge, she only enjoyed it at first and not anymore.

However, no matter what, the victim Eunbyul didn’t need to feel guilty towards those two bitches who were the perpetrators, so all I could do was offer a little advice.

Advice, at the very least, that what she did today was by no means wrong.

“Eunbyul, you seem to be mistaken about something, so let me tell you.”

    “Yes?”

“Revenge isn’t really about wanting to feel relieved emotionally. Revenge is about ensuring there are no loose ends.”

    “That… is true, but….”

“First off, one thing’s for sure: those women did things that warranted you taking revenge on them. They even shamelessly threatened your safety, and you nearly got into trouble when you were actually kidnapped once.”

“…Yes. I’m still grateful that you saved me then, Master.”

“Well, maybe repaying what happened to you, Eunbyul, in this manner isn’t the best way to get revenge. But what can you do? At least making them feel the same pain will help them understand, even a little, how you felt when they hurt you, right?”

    “…That’s true.”

As Eunbyul nodded quietly, listening to me, I elaborated further on why revenge wasn’t necessarily futile.

At times like these, when clear judgment was needed, holding onto her emotions firmly was crucial for her.

“Even if revenge feels hollow right now, it was something that had to be done. Whether it was truly necessary or not, you can regret that after you’ve gotten your revenge.”

    “Huh?”

“Only after proving you can do it should you indulge in feelings of futility. Saying things like ‘it’s better to break the cycle of hatred’ or ‘forgiveness is the best revenge’… It’s much better than mumbling those words without being able to do anything, isn’t it?”

    “…Yes.”

“At least you, Eunbyul, seized the opportunity for revenge yourself. It doesn’t matter that it was with my help. What matters is that you now have the choice whether to torture Geum Jangmi and Geum Dallae further.

And just in case, don’t think about letting them off too easily. You might be able to forgive, but who knows if those women, who were your sisters, have the same personality? If you’re going to get revenge, don’t leave any loose ends.”

    “I’ll keep that in mind.”

“And if revenge feels hollow, start recording their attitudes towards you whenever you get the chance. Or perhaps, recalling their past actions towards you would be good too.

Then, when you feel that sense of emptiness, read the records you’ve written. ‘Ah, right. This is how much it hurt when you did this to me. I really wanted to kill you back then. And this. And this too.’

Of course, even doing all this, you might eventually feel hollow and regret it, thinking it was a waste of effort. But at least for that moment, you feel relieved, right? That’s enough. Humans are emotional creatures, after all.”

    “…….”

“Acting on impulse isn’t wrong. Even if you think it was a mistake later, it’s okay to act on your feelings now. You can’t live your life without making mistakes, can you?

And besides, even if you feel a bit bewildered now, your feelings might change after you’ve taken your revenge until you truly feel relieved. After all, the pain and hardship you endured for years probably won’t be resolved by just a few hours of torture, right?”

“…Yes. As you say, Master, it’s definitely not something that can be resolved in just a day.”

To Eunbyul, who seemed to have reached some resolve, I finally conveyed my ‘real request.’

Regardless of whether Eunbyul actively tortured them or just managed their survival, I had intended to leave the two women in Eunbyul’s care for a few days anyway.

“Do as you please for a while. I was planning to leave those two women with you, Eunbyul, for about two days anyway.”

“…Are you talking about two days in real time?”

“Yep. So, precisely about a month and a half. Of course, I’ll keep the dungeon entrance open. So you can go back and forth inside and outside the dungeon as much as you want, Eunbyul.

Actually, I’d prefer if I handled the management and you just did whatever you felt like, Eunbyul, but I’ve got a bit too much on my plate these days.”

“No, it’s fine. I don’t belong to any specific affiliation right now anyway. Since you, Master, ordered me to manage those women, I will naturally comply.”

“Thanks for saying that. By the way, you can use the food in that warehouse over there, and as for how to handle them….”

In that process, Geum Jangmi and Geum Dallae were handed over to Eunbyul’s care.

A month and a half should be plenty of time for various things.

Both to verify if No. 2 was truly a useful woman for me, and to sufficiently break No. 1’s mind to the point where she couldn’t even think about revenge.
