Chapter 82: The Angel Who Creates a Style (13)

    Episode 82

“The power of friendship? What is this, a manga?”

Yu Si-hyun said as she charged towards Leffrey.

    Thus began…

    A clash.

Leffrey, who had taken to the air with magic.

Since he was an angel without wings, he couldn’t fly very high.

But Leffrey could fly high enough to fight.

    ‘This is my chance!’

He tried to strike Yu Si-hyun down using Martial Arts of the Archangel, but at that moment, the student council president perfectly countered it with an Iron Mountain Shoulder Strike.

Iron Mountain, powerful enough to even destroy a concrete building, now further amplified by the momentum Leffrey gained from flying…

    ‘It hurts!’

    Leffrey coughed up blood.

    ‘My ribs are all broken!’

    Struggle.

The angel, severely injured, tried to create some distance.

Then, cast behind Yu Si-hyun, was a spell from a hero of old.

Arrows of rainbow-colored flames were densely packed behind her.

‘The Magic power, her magical power is insane. If I get hit by that directly…’

Leffrey quickly flew up and tried to evade, flying erratically like the angels of old, but…

    “Even an idiot like me…”

This barrage of magic, as if designed by a demon, was not something a young angel like Leffrey could avoid.

“Can at least hit someone like you.”

    Kaboom- Kaboom-

Leffrey, who had been flying in the sky, had become a small sun.

    And war.

An angel, struck by magic and engulfed in flames.

Just as Venus once fell to Earth, so did Leffrey. (TL Note: Okay I want to explain the Venus thingy but later at the afterword notes I guess, it’s too long.)

And Yu Si-hyun naturally ran to where Leffrey fell, drew her magic sword, and slashed at his legs.

    ‘I-I’m no match for her.’

Leffrey, feeling his tendons sever, knelt down and looked up at Yu Si-hyun.

‘So this is Yu Si-hyun, the strongest in our academy, the student council president…’

Her swordsmanship was comparable to Hongwol’s, her martial arts rivaled Yumari’s, and her magical studies skills were on par with Soya’s?

    ‘She’s a monster.’

    But Leffrey didn’t give up.

    ‘I knew I wouldn’t stand a chance, but to think she’d be this strong…’

His entire body screamed in pain.

He had never felt this much pain in his entire life.

His chest was shattered by Yu Si-hyun’s shoulder strike, and his school uniform pants were already soaked in blood.

    But Leffrey got up again.

    Lusa entrusted him.

She said the sapling was her family.

And Leffrey remembered the pain of losing a family.

“Angel-nim, why don’t you give up?”

    Yu Si-hyun smiled cruelly.

“Whatever the professors’ circumstances is, It’s inevitable that our family will acquire that sapling.”

    ‘Fufufufu’ She chuckled.

Yu Si-hyun stopped her attack and watched Leffrey as he struggled to get up.

‘She’s giving me time to recover. Is this to completely break my spirit?’

Anyway, he had gained some time.

Leffrey healed his body using Angelic Power, fiddling with Sanctus, which was glowing on his right hand.

“The World Tree sapling, a priceless alchemical ingredient…”

    Yu Si-hyun continued,

“What family wouldn’t cherish such a precious treasure? So don’t worry, Angel-nim, and…”

A superhuman girl who resembled Yumari reached out her hand to Leffrey, who was stumbling.

“Become a part of our Seocheon Yu family.”

Hearing those words, Leffrey, amidst this excruciating pain that made him feel like his body was breaking apart, calmly began to speak his mind.

“That sapling isn’t some priceless ingredient.”

    “…Then what is it?”

    Leffrey replied,

    “It’s not a priceless ingredient. It’s something that shouldn’t be priced…”

    Leffrey took a stance.

Flabellum in his left hand, Sanctus on his right.

And the defensive stance unique to Fairy Martial Arts.

    “It’s someone’s family.”

Yu Si-hyun sighed softly and raised her magic sword.

“I can’t hand over Professor Lusa’s little sister to you, someone who doesn’t understand the importance of family.”

    “Then…”

Yu Si-hyun said with a smile,

    “Try it.”

Yu Si-hyun charged at him again.

Her magic sword aimed sharply for Leffrey’s shoulder, and Leffrey, naturally holding Flabellum in reverse grip, pressed down on the blade of her sword like a praying mantis.

    “Oh?”

Then came a flying kick from Leffrey.

She blocked the kick aimed for her head, even abandoning her sword to do so, but…

    “Soya-style Black Magic. Black Spear.”

…she couldn’t block the magic spear that followed.

    “Kugh!”

Yu Si-hyun stared at Leffrey, who was in a combat stance, with a shocked expression.

    “How… how is this possible?”

    Yu Si-hyun muttered,

“Just how did you… obtain such insane magical skills?”

Yu Si-hyun, still shocked, quickly approached Leffrey, shouting,

“Seocheon Yu Martial Arts, Swift Heaven.”

Swift Heaven, one of the techniques of Seocheon Yu Martial Arts,

It was a technique to move at high speed, aiming for the opponent’s Adam’s apple.

She didn’t know why his magic skills had suddenly increased. But if her opponent was a mage…

‘I have to disable their throat to prevent them from casting spells.’

    Yu Si-hyun’s judgment was correct.

Leffrey’s martial arts skills were much weaker than hers, and if he was at a disadvantage in one area, it was a superhuman’s way of thinking to solve it with another method or skill.

    But Leffrey muttered coldly,

“Seocheon Yu Martial Arts, Strong Heaven.”

Strong Heaven. A counter technique to Seocheon Yu Martial Arts.

A punishment technique of the Seocheon Yu that countered the opponent’s technique and sent it right back at them.

    And so, Leffrey…

    …struck Yu Si-hyun’s throat.

    “…!”

    Yu Si-hyun couldn’t even scream.

Leffrey naturally approached Yu Si-hyun to defeat her.

    “…!”

Now it was Yu Si-hyun’s turn to run.

Just how, how is this even possible?

Yu Si-hyun, who was overwhelmingly stronger in every way, why was she being pushed back by the injured Leffrey?

‘A technique that not even Archangel Leffriel could use.’

Leffrey possessed an ability that even Archangel Leffriel didn’t have. And that ability was…

    ===

[Title: Guardian Angel of the Genius Witch]

You have helped the young witch blossom and made her genius known to the world. This is only natural for a guardian angel.

    Title Effect:

Once a day, for thirty minutes, you can borrow 20% of the young witch’s [Han Soya] magical abilities.

    ===

    ===

[Title: Guardian Angel of the Young Half-Dragon]

You have guided the young half-dragon to the right path, bringing her one step closer to becoming a hero. This is only natural for a guardian angel.

    Title Effect:

Once a day, for ten minutes, you can borrow 10% of the young half-dragon’s [Yumari] combat sense.

    ===

It was a title obtainable by a guardian angel.

This title wasn’t an ordinary skill, but a privilege and a power unique to a guardian angel.

    Therefore,

It was affected by Sanctus, which manipulates Angelic Abilities.

Leffrey took to the skies again.

He casually created black wings on his back, as if he were using Soya’s black magic, then approached Yu Si-hyun like Yumari and shattered her defense.

    “U-Ugh!”

    Overwhelming.

It was overwhelming how Leffrey was pushing Yu Si-hyun back.

Yu Si-hyun’s magic was on par with Soya’s, and her martial arts rivaled Yumari’s, so just how was this possible?

The power he borrowed using his title was not even a tenth of those girls’ power.

‘The titles are the powers of a guardian angel. Therefore, they fall within the control range of Sanctus, which manipulates angelic powers.’

But Sanctus wasn’t an item that enhanced angelic powers. It was merely an item that allowed for more delicate manipulation of those powers.

‘Yes, I didn’t strengthen my Angelic Abilities.’

[The effect of your Angelic Ability has been temporarily changed by Sanctus!]

[The duration of ‘Guardian Angel of the Genius Witch’ title has been changed to 1 minute!]

[The duration of ‘Guardian Angel of the Young Half-Dragon’ title has been changed to 1 minute!]

    ‘I just chose and focused.’

    Choice. Choose power over duration.

Focus. Shorten the duration to enhance the power.

Leffrey could now use magic and martial arts that were even stronger than the current Soya and the current Mari.

Leffrey called this technique, ‘Time of Bonds’.

    “Ugh.”

Yu Si-hyun, recovering from the blow to her throat, opened her mouth again.

“Soya’s magic, Mari’s martial arts? No, you’ve surpassed them both.”

Yu Si-hyun, her lips torn and bleeding, finally seemed to understand, nodding.

“So that’s what you meant by the power of friendship.”

    That was ten seconds.

Leffrey now had 50 seconds left.

“Do you think you can defeat me…”

But Yu Si-hyun didn’t give up.

    “With such a weak power?”

    War began.

A war between an angel and a hero.

A war where each pushed their agenda, believing their justice was right, forcing their ideology upon the other.

“That overpowered ability, it probably won’t even last a minute, right?”

Yu Si-hyun spoke casually, dodging the black spears Leffrey cast and enduring the Seocheon Yu grappling techniques he used.

“How do you plan to block my Ultimate Skill once this power is gone?”

    “Your Ultimate Skill, Hero’s Descent.”

    Leffrey said with a smile,

“If you use it now… you’ll essentially lose, right? I’m an angel, you know.”

Yu Si-hyun’s Ultimate Skill, Hero’s Descent.

A powerful Ultimate Skill that allowed her to borrow the techniques of past heroes, an incredible skill that eventually led her to slay one of the Demon King’s Four Heavenly Kings.

But there was a problem. The moment she used it, she would be possessed by the personality of a past hero.

Would a past hero really raise their sword when they see an angel?

    Or…

Would they grant the angel’s request?

“…How, how do you even know this?! My Ultimate Skill should be a top secret within my family!”

“Well, it’s an angel’s divine intuition, I guess?”

Of course, Leffrey, a young angel, had no such divine intuition. The reason Leffrey knew was because of his knowledge of the future.

Leffrey knew that Yu Si-hyun’s Ultimate Skill wouldn’t be activated.

    Yu Si-hyun’s face turned pale.

“Even then, if I can just block it, I’ll win… Angel, you don’t seem to have any special attack methods.”

    “Do you really think so?”

But Leffrey had Flabellum, the Archangel’s dagger.

It was a dagger that lacked practicality due to its short reach, but when attacking an opponent who wasn’t moving.

It was a dagger that boasted overwhelming power.

    “True Cheongu Swordsmanship, First Technique.”

    “…Oh no.”

The brightly burning Flabellum began to turn blue.

    “Cheongu Nine Tails.”

    Cheongu Nine Tails.

One of the secret techniques of the nine-tailed fox that once ruled Cheonggu. (TL Note: Cheonggu is a real place in Korea and yes they once worshiped a fox deity, like for real for real.)

This technique, resembling its nine tails, created nine sword paths in an instant.

And started slicing at the girl called the student council president, almost at point-blank range.

    Swish- Whoosh-

It sounded like a balloon deflating. The sound of blood escaping from a girl’s body, that is.

“I guess I really was an idiot after all.”

Yu Si-hyun, blocking the gushing blood with her hand, slowly opened her mouth to Leffrey.

“But our family will never give up on acquiring an angel.”

Yu Si-hyun pointed at Leffrey and smiled brightly.

“The sapling? The professors? This world… even the demon king? None of it matters. We, the Hero’s Family, will always acquire an angel.”

    Yu Si-hyun declared,

    “Wait for the next time.”

With those words, Yu Si-hyun collapsed.

The opaque barrier for Secret Sparring deactivated.

    “Fi-Finally, the barrier is lifted.”

The student council referee’s voice echoed through the speakers.

    His voice trembled greatly.

“No, the president can’t be defeated! A-Are we going to announce this as it is?”

    Mumble mumble-

The sound of the student council hurriedly discussing something could be heard.

    “The winner is…”

The student council referee’s voice echoed once again.

“Though it is upsetting. The winner is…”

    The result was declared.

“The winner is! The first-year double major… Leffrey!”

    TL Afterword:

So Lucifer in Latin means ‘the morning star’ and coincidentally Venus is also called ‘the morning star’ and people got confused by a certain passage in the bible which contained ‘morning star’, so early Christian writers interpreted the passage as the fall of Lucifer, and so they used Venus as well to refer to ‘Lucifer the fallen angel’.

Basically, Venus is not directly another name for Lucifer, but the term “Lucifer” historically referred to Venus as the morning star before becoming associated with the fallen angel.

Confusing right? Yeah… I had to read the bible…

ANYWAY, READERS JUST KNOW THAT THE VENUS IN THIS CONTEXT FOR THE NOVEL MEANT LUCIFER THE FALLEN ANGEL, THAT’S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!
