Chapter 82
Otherworld Demon King Survival Guide.
Episode 82: Human Bastards (5)
The moment I locked eyes with the nun, it felt as if time had stopped.
She was a young and beautiful nun with appropriately long blond hair, dressed in a typical nun’s veil and form-fitting habit, which highlighted her figure, almost drawing my gaze.
Her eyes were sharp.
Bloodshot? The sharpness in her red eyes made her look fierce, almost like a delinquent nun… Looks were irrelevant. My discomfort wasn’t because of that.
…
What I sensed at that moment was an ominous aura.
A discomfort on my skin, almost a burning sensation. I instinctively knew.
This nun had some special power akin to the magic I possess.
Just like I used black magic with my magic, I deduced that she could use similar skills. Seeing her, she held a sword – a warrior nun type. Though women’s physical strength was generally less than men’s, she looked dangerous despite her feminine figure.
“What, what? What’s with that guy?”
But the nun seemed as startled as I was.
Seeing me.
“Uh…?”
“Who’s that guy?”
The adventurers beside the nun were also taken aback. I was startled, and so were they. It was like a one-eyed person meeting a three-eyed person.
“It’s a spirit! A spirit of the forest, Sister! Haak! Haak!”
The man I was chasing gasped and shouted.
“A forest spirit? That?”
“It certainly looks like a spirit…”
The two human warriors expressed their doubts.
“Nonsense.”
But the nun was sharp.
“That looks like a spirit to you?”
“Well…”
Did she know about demons?
-Zzirit.
The nun glared at me again.
An aggressive stare.
“Hey. You.”
A voice filled with hostility.
“What are you? I sense something odd.”
-Chuk.
The nun pointed to the side of her head.
“The horns on your head, too. They look damn suspicious and evil.”
“…”
“Don’t tell me. Are you, like, a demon?”
Shit! How did she know!
I, let’s try making excuses!
“Me? Hahaha! A demon? What a joke! Sister, I don’t know what a demon is, but these horns are a deformity. A deformity. I was cast out from my village because of it… Hahaha.”
I said it rather smoothly.
“Huh…!”
“Wha…!”
The other adventurers, excluding the nun, were shocked.
Why?
Did these guys discriminate against deformities?
“I’m a person, a human being.”
“This asshole.”
“Huh?”
“Are you taking me for a fool?”
The nun kept glaring at me, spewing harsh words. This woman… She was looking for a fight. It was not about retreating or running. She had chosen to fight.
I wished they would have just run away. Hunting down and killing a fleeing enemy was easier than confronting one head-on. But now, I had no choice but to face them directly. I couldn’t let them go. I must kill them all. Now that they knew my identity, I couldn’t afford to let even one survive!
I coldly analyzed the power balance!
One ominous and dangerous-looking nun and what appeared to be her two average adventurer party members. And the tired man I was chasing.
In total, there were four enemies.
In contrast, we were sixteen in total: fourteen goblin squad members, as well as Sharan and myself. Five were goblin shield-bearers, and the rest were armed with spears.
I didn’t know much about the nun’s power, but I believed we could win this fight!
“A person? You expect me to believe that with such horns on your head?”
“It’s true. I said it’s a deformity.”
“Ah? Shut up, you bastard.”
“Hahaha, that’s harsh. Isn’t that a bit rough for a nun? Especially since we just met today.”
Human speech flowed easily from my mouth.
Thinking about it, my ability to acquire languages seemed exceptionally strong. That was why I quickly grasped the language even after reincarnating in another dimension.
I learned the language of the demon world on my own, without proper conditions. With Lumica as a great home tutor, learning the human language was also quick.
“The Lord said it’s okay to speak harshly to the likes of you. Anyway, you’re in a tight spot. Don’t expect anything good to come of this.”
-Whiik.
The nun twirled her one-handed sword, declaring her intent to fight.
‘Good luck,’ she says. Let’s see who would end up worse off. My fighting spirit swelled alongside my hostility. The aura the nun had been emitting was unbearably annoying. I needed to eliminate her immediately.
“Krrr…”
Breathing out, a throaty rumble escaped my lips…!
“Sister! He looks dangerous!”
“Ha, hah…! He killed all my comrades! We have to run!”
“Yeah, Sister! Let’s escape!”
Unlike the battle-ready nun, the adventurers looked terrified upon seeing me. Good. Thanks for being scared. A scared enemy was an easy target.
“Hey. If we run here, we’re all dead. If we flee, we’ll be hunted down together.”
“But…”
“Snap out of it!!!”
“Huh…!”
“We have to fight. You’re men, right? You wouldn’t think of abandoning this delicate nun and running away, would you?”
“…”
The male adventurers, frightened, contrasted with the brave and somewhat delinquent nun, who was the most aggressive of all.
I just hope she was not as strong as her mouth was big… But she didn’t seem strong enough to cut us all down alone. She, too, seemed to fear my army.
“Kek…!”
“Shaa…!”
My goblins and Sharan also showed their intent to kill.
“Damn! We’re outnumbered, Sister!”
“The goblins are armed with spears and shields…!”
Was it the numerical difference after all?
Even though the nun tried to boost their spirits, they were still scared.
No human was unafraid of death. If a horned guy showed up with a goblin army, I’d be scared, too.
Then.
I would use that fear.
To win, there was no need to be picky about the means. Use everything available! I was in an advantageous position, so a little bluffing was fine!
“Hahaha, hey, handsome young men.”
“What?”
“What’s he saying?”
“Don’t listen! It’s a demonic temptation! Hey, hey! Stay alert!”
The nun shouted sharply at my words.
But I spoke to the adventurers regardless.
“Ignore the nun’s words. If you run, I’ll let you live. What’s the point of fighting and getting hurt or killed? Survival is what matters. If a fight happens, one side will surely die. And the surviving side will be injured.”
“Don’t listen to him!”
“I haven’t even spent all the money in my pocket. You can’t die now, right? Escape. If you don’t fight, you can live. If it comes to a fight, I will kill you. Definitely.”
The right words.
If they ran, good; if not, so be it.
Of course, I had no intention of letting them live. If even one of them escaped and dispersed their forces, it would be a jackpot for me. I could crush the weakened enemy and then chase and kill the one who fled.
“That bastard’s not going to let us live! It’s a trick!”
The nun was passionately arguing, but…
“…”
“…”
The adventurers were already looking around, hesitant.
“Alright. It seems like only the nun here wants to fight. Those who want to fight can fight. That’s all there is to it, right? Please go back. There’s nothing good about fighting.”
“You really know how to talk, you demon bastard.”
The nun spoke very aggressively.
Looking at her, she was quite pretty, with a rather ample chest. I bluffed earlier, but now even I was convinced by my own bravado.
“Will only the nun fight?”
I started to feel more relaxed.
“I’ll give you five seconds. Those who run won’t be chased. Five. Four. Three.”
The moment I counted down to three.
“Aaaah!”
“You, you run too!”
Two of the adventurers.
They ran.
“Hey! Wait!”
“You bastards! Don’t run!”
The man I had been chasing and one of the nun’s party members. Although the nun and another adventurer shouted in panic, the men just dashed away.
“Krrrrrrhahahahaha!!!”
Elation!
The exhilaration overwhelmed me! Just by bluffing, I had eliminated 50% of the enemy’s strength! It worked! My bluff worked! It was easier to kill two than four!
“Advance, everyone!!!”
-Keeeeeeeh!
I immediately roared the command in the language of the demon world!
“Keraaaak!”
“Kerrruk!”
“Kek!”
Seizing the moment of confusion, the goblins charged with spears forward and shields up!
“Sharan! Stay by my side! Follow me!”
“Shaa!”
“Kill the men first!”
It was a basic strategy to take out the weaker ones first!
“Sister!”
“Damn it! Those bastards! Fight them! I’ll try to open a retreat!”
Sixteen against two?
You’re all done for!
-Papapat!
“Keryaaak!”
“Kerurung!”
The goblin formation advanced rapidly, and I circled to the right of the formation. The two were standing side by side. First, I targeted the man to the right of the nun!
“Shaaa!”
Sharan followed closely beside me, claws extended, and eyes slit like a predator. Sharan’s claw strikes were incredibly powerful!
“Aaaaaah!”
Realizing he was the target, the adventurer shouted and pointed his sword at me. He must regret not running by now. Such an enemy was just prey to me.
“I can’t believe this, damn it!!”
The nun tried to help him, but the goblin formation had already advanced close! I was keeping track of the entire situation!
“Demonic Breath!”
I breathed fire from my mouth and swung my sword!
“Aaaaah! This monstrous bastard!”
-Chaeng!
The two steel swords clashed fiercely, ringing out with a metallic sound! The tension was at its peak! This was the first time our swords had crossed like this! I was being careful not to get hit by the sword while trying to engage in a contest of strength.
-Chaeng!
“Huh?!”
I felt his sword wrapping around mine, and the distance suddenly closed. He was coming at me in this situation?!
“This monstrous bastard! That’s not how you use a sword!”
The moment he shouted!
-Chwahaaak!
Sharan’s slashing attack erupted.
“Shaaaa!”
“Ugh…?!”
Blood splattered as the man’s stance collapsed, and I didn’t miss the moment! I thrust my sword towards his neck without hesitation.
-Phuk!
“Kek!”
Simultaneously.
-Pook!
-Phuk!
The approaching goblins thrust their spears. The spears pierced the adventurer’s body. One down. Now, only the nun remained.
As I turned towards the nun.
-Chwahaak!
What I saw was…
“Keraaaaaak!”
A goblin shield-bearer being split in half and flying away with the shield!
“Chil-dol-ahhhhhhhhh!”
“You damn demon bastards! I’ll kill you all!”
The nun held her sword in a raised, slashing stance. Did she just cut the goblin and send it flying upwards?
What strength!
