Chapter 81
Otherworld Demon King Survival Guide.
Episode 81: Human Bastards (4)
“Oh no! Guys! Spread out and follow me! When I signal, ambush nearby! Sharan, follow me!”
“Yes, Master!”
“Kek!”
-Papapat!
I ran towards the direction from where the scream came.
What was going on? Why the sudden scream? Could it be that another monster had appeared? It didn’t seem like the monsters around here would scream like that, could it be a Barghest!
The situation didn’t look good!
Or was it actually good?
-Aaaaaaah!
-Damn it!
Anyway, as I ran, the screams got closer.
“Stop. Ambush here, Buril.”
“Kek.”
After giving the goblins an ambush command at a suitable place, I moved forward again. Stay calm. The screams were getting closer. They wouldn’t hear our footsteps.
I maintained a low profile and approached the scene, and what I saw was.
-Kyahahahaha!
“Waaaah!”
“Aaaah!”
A fairy flying around, sprinkling dust, and… adventurers in a panic state after seeing the fairy.
“Run, run! It’s a real fairy! A murderous fairy has appeared!”
“Aaaaah!”
“There’s another one behind, damn it!”
Turns out there wasn’t just one fairy. Three were flying around, laughing.
“…”
What was this?
Weren’t they too scared of these guys?
“Aaaaah!”
-Kwak!
-Swak!
An adventurer with a sword swung it in the air, but it was impossible to catch the flying fairy. He even seemed slightly staggered, probably intoxicated by the fairy dust.
Fairy.
Certainly, a dangerous monster, but no problem if you kept your wits about you. But these guys acted like they had never seen a fairy before, completely panicking.
This was an opportunity.
Seeing them freaking out like that, they’d soon be completely intoxicated by the fairy dust and in a weakened state. Or they’d tire out while trying to escape. Then, it’d be easy to subdue or capture them.
Lucky me.
“Sharan. Bring Buril and the others from behind. Start preparing for battle immediately.”
“Shaa. Be careful, Master.”
“It’s just 30 seconds away. Don’t worry.”
So, Sharan went back to bring my goblin troops.
But at that moment.
“Run, just run!”
“But the dust is like a curtain!”
“Just break through with your body! If we stay here, we’ll die!”
-Paat!
The three adventurers seemed to have made up their minds and dashed… in my direction!
“Damn it!”
I straightened my bent body and pointed my sword! Why did they have to run towards me!
“What?!”
“That, what is that?!”
“A giant fairy!!!”
At that moment, I made eye contact with the group of adventurers rushing towards me!
It was a sudden situation, but yes! I could handle this! Now that it had come to this, there was no choice but to clash!
-Kerk!
My goblin troops were already coming to support from behind. I immediately gave them orders.
“Buril! Form up!”
“Kek!”
Buril’s voice came through. The adventurers running towards me seem to think they could kill us and get away. They were screaming like berserkers with their swords raised.
“Break through, quickly!”
“Aaaaaaah!”
Of course, they were bound to be seriously confused.
A situation where they were fleeing. Fairies behind them, and suddenly, an unknown entity in front – me. Confusing and scary. I understood all of it. And I never lost in such situations. Already halfway through the plan, what was a tactic? Taking advantage of the opponent’s panic, that was a tactic!
But it wasn’t just three running towards me! One in the back turned away entirely, trying to save himself alone!
It was even easier if I only had to deal with two!
“Demonic breath!”
-Hwaruruk!
Thinking this, I breathed fire to obscure their vision.
“Kuk?!”
“Fire?!”
The two charging adventurers were momentarily confused, and I simultaneously stepped diagonally to move to their side.
“Buril! Maintain formation and charge! Charge! Sweep these bastards away!”
I then ordered the goblin troops behind me, who had formed up, to charge in formation.
“Kereuuuuk!”
Not just a wild run, but a charge while maintaining formation! A charge relying on the shield bearers in the front line, and since it required matching steps, it was slow, but!
It would surely work well in a close-range, pre-collision situation like this!
“Keryaaak!”
Immediately, the goblins shouted and charged.
“U, Uaaaah!”
“Oh, oh no!”
Seeing this, the humans became terrified and tried to flee. Unfortunately for them, that was not an option. They were going to die here.
Catching and killing a panicking, fleeing being was very simple. They were no longer enemies, just easy targets.
“Where do you think you’re going!”
Thinking this, I aimed for the head of one trying to flee.
-Swak!
I swung my sword vigorously!
-Puck!
“Kek!”
I hit him wrong, but it was a 1kg iron mass hitting the head. The guy almost fell but just managed to keep his balance, and that was it.
It was already over.
-Phuk!
-Pook!
-Peuhuk!
My approaching goblin troops pierced the humans’ backs and thighs with their spears.
“Kek…!”
“Kuk…!”
Humans were weak. If pierced, they could only die.
“…”
Normally, they would have been difficult enemies. But I maximized their confusion and pressed them hard, reducing them to easy prey.
“You, what the hell are you…! Khuuk, kuaaaaaah!”
A fallen adventurer lifted his head to look at me and screamed. His eyes were filled with resentment and fear.
“…Finish him. Stick a spear in his throat.”
“Keraaaak!”
“Kek! Kereuuuk!”
-Phuk!
-Pook!
As soon as the order was given, numerous spears struck their necks.
“…Kuk.”
“Ugh…”
The end.
Their lives had been cut short…!
“Keraaaaaak!”
“Kek! Kereuuuk!”
“Kerurururung! Kerurururung!”
The goblins howled in the thrill of victory after defeating a strong enemy.
“Phew!”
I, too, exhaled.
“They’re dead!”
Killed two humans!
I brutally killed humans, with whom I had no particular grudge, like this!
Last time, it was because that guy charged at me senselessly, but this time, I had planned to kill these guys from the start! I committed the premeditated murder of these people, who were someone’s children!
An extreme criminal act!
But right now, I feel no guilt at all…! Because it seemed natural! Even now, I was feeling the thrill of victory like the goblins! And the joy of survival!
“Woooooo!”
A burst of shouts!
“Master! There’s one more human left!”
Sharan alerted me to that fact.
“I know. I’m aware.”
Obviously, I couldn’t let him escape.
“He saw me. I must catch and kill him.”
If he survived, it was the end for me and my subordinates. A strange fairy-like monster in the forest? Immediate dispatch of a subjugation team. We couldn’t beat the subjugation team right now.
It was a stroke of luck to have killed these two without injury.
“Leave the bodies here and track the other one!”
“Over there!”
“Everyone, follow!”
After all, he was human. And a tired one at that.
We tracked him immediately.
The fairies that I thought would be bothersome had already scattered.
No problem at all.
“Aaaaah! These monsters!”
Tracking a tired adventurer wasn’t very difficult. He was in such a hurry to escape that he didn’t even cover his tracks, and Sharan’s senses fully captured him, making it impossible for him to hide.
Just keep chasing.
-Tatatat!
The brown-haired male adventurer had long since abandoned his gear and kept running, but his speed had significantly slowed.
He was already exhausted.
The energy wasted on the fairy earlier and the fact that he ran into me and had to sprint in a different direction must have taken its toll. Regardless, he was more exhausted than I was.
But he was still holding a sword.
He was clinging to it until the end. It was his lifeline… Of course, there was no need to fight him directly. I or the goblins could get hurt.
Just keep driving him until he is completely exhausted, then capture him. That was all. He’d tire himself out.
Steady.
Let’s proceed steadily. No need for adventure. Stability was the best approach here.
“Don’t follow me! Don’t follow! I’ll leave your territory!”
The adventurer screamed in desperation.
Naturally, we didn’t heed his plea. We silently pursued him. I ran slowly, Sharan ran beside me, and the goblins kept pace behind us.
“We must catch him.”
Even though he was just one prisoner, he was very useful.
If captured, we could extract all sorts of knowledge and information about the human world. Right now, that was all I was thinking about. Capturing him and interrogating him would let me understand this world!
-Tatatat!
So very calmly.
While running and looking at the fleeing adventurer’s back, that happened.
“What, whaaat?!”
Suddenly, the adventurer ahead screamed out. What now? Encountered another fairy? This guy was really having a rough day. Could anyone be this unlucky?
-Chuk.
The running adventurer came to a halt.
Had he given up in despair?
I briefly thought that.
“…Master.”
“Hmm?”
“Humans.”
“Ah.”
“More humans have appeared.”
“…”
Up ahead.
A new group of humans appeared.
“Ah? What are you?”
“What, what! Whaaat!”
“What’s with this guy? Why is he screaming?”
-Chalang.
It was a woman with flowing blond hair. She was dressed like a nun and was holding the shoulder of the screaming adventurer.
“Are you being chased by a monster? Don’t worry. This lady is a nun from the convent.”
“What, whaaat! Whaaaat! That’s! That’s because! Haa, haaaah…!”
“Nun? Who is this person?”
“Don’t know. He just appeared out of nowhere.”
Behind the nun, two warriors dressed similarly to the fleeing adventurer appeared.
“Just calm down… Huh?”
I locked eyes with the nun.
