Chapter 80: CUT. The Nazi Submariner Must Die (3)

He thought he had become friends with the muscular guy.

It was just a naive misconception.

Yeoreum and Yuna were thrown aside.

The engine room was firmly locked. The back of his head was throbbing.

“Nazi zombie! We’ve given you the two sacrifices you wanted, so let us go!”

The muscular guy shouted through the round glass window. He seemed to think he could negotiate with the Nazi.

How can someone be so stupid…

Naziface approached. Yuna aimed the harpoon.

The space was too cramped to fight… and it was dark without any lighting.

The flashlight was in the engine room.

Yeoreum banged on the closed passage door.

    “You coward…! Open it now!!”

“Would you open it if you were in my shoes? We don’t want to fight that monster.”

    The muscular guy said bluntly.

The rest of the group seemed to agree, ignoring Yeoreum and Yuna. Even the class rep had a smug look.

    The betrayal stung.

    Naziface lunged.

With a swoosh, it swung the MG42 attached to its right hand. Yuna raised the harpoon to block.

The gun barrel and harpoon shaft collided. The force was immense. Yuna staggered.

“Yeoreum, I’ll handle this. You go to the entrance…!”

Leaving behind the fierce clash between Yuna and Naziface, Yeoreum hurried towards the entrance.

His mind was racing, but he had to waddle due to the deep-sea diving suit.

The submarine was filled with thick darkness. He groped around with his hand to find the entrance.

When he found it, he pushed hard.

Of course, it didn’t open due to the water pressure.

He turned around to head back, but something grabbed his hand.

It was a long iron pipe. It seemed the pipes had come loose as the submarine rolled.

Yeoreum picked up the iron pipe.

The muscular guy watched the ‘College Girl vs. Nazi Human’ fight through the glass on the door.

    It was an incredible fight.

Yuna was fighting evenly with the huge Nazi.

He swung the machine gun implanted in his right arm like an axe. Yuna dodged nimbly like a weasel and counterattacked.

With a thud, the harpoon pierced the Nazi’s chest. Not a drop of blood came out.

The Nazi nonchalantly pulled out the harpoon and pushed Yuna.

    The destructive force was palpable.

    For a moment, he hesitated.

Should I go out and help? We might actually win?

    But it was too late.

They had driven Yuna and Yeoreum to their deaths. They would never forgive him for this betrayal.

The muscular guy rationalized it with cold sweat dripping. It was a betrayal for survival.

He never intended to fight the hideous Nazi.

    Yuna, Han Yeoreum…

Please die quickly. The monster will retreat once it sees your blood.

The muscular guy prayed fervently in his mind.

The battle outside was reaching its climax.

Yuna lost her balance and fell. Naziface pounded his fist down.

If it hit, she’d be meeting Hitler. Yuna barely rolled away to avoid it.

The Nazi’s punch dented the metal floor.

Yuna quickly grabbed the harpoon. Her back touched the cold wall. There was no room to retreat further.

If she fell again, she wouldn’t get back up.

The class rep watched the bloody fight beyond the passage with blazing eyes.

The source of all evil that hurt her cousin and lover… She wished for her to be torn to pieces.

In contrast, the senior looked worried.

    “Hey… this seems a bit too much…”

“Then will you go out and help?”

At the muscular guy’s retort, the senior’s shoulders shrank. He had no courage either.

But just waiting made him anxious.

The water had risen to their chests by now.

Before the seawater filled the submarine, the Nazi monster had to kill Yeoreum and Yuna and be satisfied…

Suddenly, a coughing sound was heard. It was the dying guy with the piercings.

    “Sis…”

In a weak voice, he called for his cousin and lover.

The class rep held his cold hand.

    “I’m here.”

    “Before I die… there’s something I want to say…”

    “Who’s dying? It’s almost over.”

“I’m sorry for telling you to get rid of the baby. I didn’t mean it… and…”

The class rep covered his mouth to stop his last words.

Water filled up to his chest, but what filled his heart was love.

His eyes were filled with longing.

After pulling away, the guy with the piercings confessed in a trembling voice.

    “The baby’s name is…

    Kwaang───────────────────────

    The saw whirred.

It cut through his shoulder and crushed his spine.

The class rep’s head was also hit by the blade, and it flew off. Everything above the lower jaw was gone. Her tongue dangled with spurting blood.

The saw shark, which had knocked itself out by hitting its head on the submarine, had woken up.

It thrashed around violently, swinging the saw.

    “Ugh… Aaaah!!”

The muscular guy and the senior screamed as the huge saw threatened to tear through the engine room.

The crack in the wall widened.

Like a dam breaking, water rushed in.

The engine room was flooded with seawater.

    “Kruuh…”

    Yuna gasped for breath.

Naziface hadn’t fallen. She had stabbed it over ten times with the harpoon, but it didn’t even seem to feel pain.

She had only landed one blow in return. It was a very strong hit. The struck area felt broken.

As she staggered, aiming the harpoon, Naziface approached.

It raised the gun barrel attached to its right hand.

Just as it was about to deliver the finishing blow, an iron pipe struck its back.

It was Yeoreum who had swung the iron pipe.

Though not powerful, it was enough to distract Naziface.

As it turned around, Yuna moved.

She thrust the harpoon deep into its neck.

This time, it reacted. Coughing violently, it flailed its arms wildly.

As if responding to Naziface’s fury, the submarine began to shake violently.

Through the passage’s glass window, they could see the engine room.

It was now completely underwater. They also saw a saw thrashing around like a mixer.

    The saw shark was rampaging.

A crack appeared on the round glass window.

If the glass broke, seawater would flood in here too.

    “Yuna. Go to the entrance.”

    “What about you, Yeoreum…?”

    “I’ll follow, just go first.”

Yeoreum was wearing a sturdy deep-sea diving suit. It was his chance to act bravely.

Hesitant, Yuna reluctantly headed to the entrance.

The glass, unable to withstand the water pressure, shattered. Water rushed in.

The torrent knocked Naziface, with the harpoon stuck in its neck, off its feet. Yeoreum was also knocked down.

The submarine was finally completely submerged.

    Yeoreum got up.

Walking through the water filled with darkness, he headed towards the entrance.

Yuna, waiting outside the entrance, welcomed him.

Her long black hair waved in the water. Even though the seawater must have stung her eyes, she forced them open to see Yeoreum.

    They had escaped.

Now they just had to get out.

But his body was pulled sideways.

He had been kicked by Naziface, which had followed them.

In slow motion, Yeoreum fell underwater.

    Naziface grabbed Yuna’s ankle.

Its grip was like that of a water ghost. Panicking, Yuna expelled the air from her mouth.

Naziface didn’t budge. It intended to drown her.

    Fallen Yeoreum stood up again.

He grabbed the harpoon lodged in Naziface’s neck and twisted it. The grip on Yuna’s ankle loosened.

Desperate for air, Yuna swam upwards.

Naziface also moved its limbs to pursue her.

    But it couldn’t rise.

Yeoreum was holding tightly onto the harpoon shaft.

A heavy deep-sea diving suit with lead weights. Its heavy structure proved its worth.

Naziface struggled violently. Yeoreum felt like his arms were going to be torn off, but he never let go of the harpoon.

    He wanted to protect Yuna.

    Naziface kicked his helmet.

The glass on the front of the helmet shattered. Glass shards lodged into his nose and cheeks.

It hurt. Cold seawater filled his suit. But still, he held onto the harpoon.

    He gripped it even tighter.

Blinded by fake friendship, he had neglected his true friend.

As a result, he was betrayed and abandoned disgracefully.

Yet, it was Yuna who fought for him.

Water rushed into his nose and mouth. Strangely, it was his heart that hurt more than his body.

He wanted to apologize, but Yuna was no longer beside him.

When he looked up, he saw the surface of the water rippling. He could also see Yuna’s silhouette rising.

    Yeoreum felt relieved.

Naziface kicked his helmet again. His blurry vision was shaken.

His grip on the harpoon loosened. He gathered his strength and held on again.

A piece of moonlight fell on the fading sea.

The wavering light brightly illuminated Naziface and Yeoreum. The sunken submarine served as the backdrop.

It was a scene as beautiful as a movie.

    Yeoreum smiled.

A movie… it could be made with just the two of us…

The last bit of air left in his lungs escaped from his mouth.

    Yeoreum fell asleep underwater.

Even in his unconscious state, he continued to hold the harpoon.

    Naziface’s painful thrashing finally stopped.

    Splash—

Yuna, having caught her breath, dove in.

She headed straight for the bottom of the sea.

She removed Yeoreum’s heavy helmet and pressed their lips together. She exhaled all the air she had into him.

    Bubbles floated up.

After removing the diving suit, she pulled Yeoreum to the surface.

The two floated on the night sea.

    “Haa…! Haaa… Haa…”

Yuna gasped for breath and pressed down on Yeoreum’s chest.

    Yeoreum coughed up seawater.

Meeting his weary eyes, Yuna hugged him tightly.

    Their surroundings were a mess.

Torn bodies and pieces of the submarine floated around them.

Amazingly, there was one more survivor.

    It was the fat senior.

He had somehow managed to escape through a gap in the wall the saw shark had destroyed.

The senior flailed around, barely staying afloat.

Yuna swam towards the pier with Yeoreum.

Then she suddenly noticed two people standing on the pier.

It was a woman in a black suit.

Now she recognized the familiar faces.

It was Joo-Yi and the narrator.

Yuna, in shock, had a blank expression. Joo-Yi smiled brightly and shouted.

    “Cut!”
