Double Bed

    Double Bed

    Buying time with money.

To be precise, it’s ‘efficiency’, but when I first heard about Yerin’s plan, I was dumbfounded.

What am I hearing right now?

“It’s a 5-day training camp. Everything needed is there, so you all just need to bring yourselves.”

A space where 5 people can sleep comfortably and rest?

And general matters like meals and laundry for 5 people?

Computers and other tools for 5 people to practice together?

When Yerin first brought it up, I suspected it was a joke.

And when that serious attitude continued to the end, I realized it was real and imagined at best a detached house where 5 people could live somewhat uncomfortably but manage.

    But reality was very different.

4 bedrooms alone, a storage room, 2 dressing rooms, living room, 3 bathrooms, separate kitchen and dining room, and a living room like a playground.

“Ha… How big is this place exactly? How many pyeong?”

“90 pyeong. Let’s unpack our luggage first.”

Everyone followed behind Yerin with round eyes, chirping like baby chicks in a kindergarten class.

    It’s truly a new world.

The world of the upper class only seen in dramas.

“You can put your luggage here. I’ve emptied it, so use one space each.”

After unpacking personal luggage in the dressing room and going out to the living room, there was a gentle-looking middle-aged woman.

Thinking she might be Yerin’s mother, I was startled and greeted her, but she smiled slightly and said she was helping with household chores.

Then she asked what drinks we wanted and disappeared into the kitchen.

“Excuse me, but your pa-parents? We should at least greet them…”

“Father went to America on business two days ago, and mother works in France, so she comes back once every 2-3 months?”

    “Uh, uhh… I see.”

I felt anew that we really live in different worlds.

Shortly after, we each received drinks offered by the housekeeper and familiarized ourselves with the structure of the space we’d live in for 5 days.

“You two can use this room. You can use the bathroom right next to it.”

“Great, great. The bed is amazing! We’ll sleep like babies.”

19girl and IDontLikeTools took the largest bedroom, and then Mia was given the smallest bedroom.

But it was a single room.

Now there are 2 bedrooms left.

But one of them was temporarily remodeled to be used as our practice space.

T-Then there’s only one bedroom left?

    “Slurp.”

    “…!”

I glanced at Yerin anxiously, and she was licking her lips.

No way, right? It can’t be.

“This is the practice room. I urgently set up high-end models for things like keyboards and mice, but if you have products from brands you personally prefer, please let me know separately.”

    “Ooooh!”

    “Amazing…”

Five desks neatly arranged against the wall.

And the computers on top of them.

The chairs also looked like very expensive high-end products at a glance, and new keyboards, mice, and headsets caught the eye.

I feel a bit burdened because it seems like too much preparation and cost went into this.

Is it really right to accept such goodwill so casually?

No matter how urgent winning is.

    So I said it.

I’m really grateful, but honestly, it’s burdensome.

But even while saying that, my duality of wanting to accept this goodwill for the sake of winning… Then Yerin smiles slightly and raises her index finger.

“Then add one more wish coupon.”

    “Is, is that really okay?”

“And you’re sharing a room with me today. I specially prepared a double bed!”

    “No, that’s a bit…”

It was a statement that snapped me back to my senses, regardless of burden or anything else.

    Buying time… efficiency with money.

It was vague when I first heard the plan, but when it actually happened, the effect was tremendous.

It’s incomparable to exchanging opinions through Discord etc. from each person’s individual home.

We communicate in real-time in the same environment as the tournament and pursue more accurate feedback face-to-face.

On top of that, we could focus solely on practice.

Before, there was a lot of time wasted due to individual circumstances when practicing games.

After finishing a game, someone would say they’re going to eat, then someone else had a hair salon appointment, parents asked for an errand… The delayed time was not negligible.

But there was none of that here.

    Practice, practice, practice!

We even stopped broadcasting after asking for understanding from viewers through a notice.

We practice over and over without rest.

One day, two days pass, and we start to feel teamwork being refined bit by bit.

Swift joining timing, accurate orders and movements accordingly.

Even practicing various positions in teamfights.

    But this wasn’t enough yet.

‘Once is enough for letting your guard down. Even a lion gives its all when hunting a rabbit!’

    [You’ve grown. It’s a good mindset.]

I asked Soldier for a favor.

To coach our team for the remaining three days.

At first, Soldier hesitated slightly, but perhaps remembering the positive changes due to his connection with me… and realizing that he himself had changed too, he accepted the coaching.

From then on, our team soared even higher.

Sharp feedback from the perspective of a pro gamer who conquered the World Series.

After every game, we had to be buried in numerous points and improvements, and it was a pleasant time.

Because it meant we had that much to fix and room to develop in the future.

“This should be enough to win. Thank you for enduring my harsh words all this time.”

“No! Sensei, how can you say that! You did all the hard work. Teaching such inadequate disciples!”

    “Soldier oppa is the best!”

I even revived the ‘oppa’ title after a long time in the spirit of service.

Five days of hell training that flew by like that.

We strengthen our resolve while enjoying dinner prepared by the housekeeper with team members.

    Tomorrow is the semifinals.

We’ll show our completely changed selves from before.

“But unnie… It’s the last day, so today we must!”

    “Ah, please!”

Yerin’s terrifying plot to drag me to the double bed was not over yet.

    19girl.

Although the occasional lewd jokes that pop out are a bit embarrassing, she’s an all-rounder who leads everyone as the team leader, plays the role of mood maker, and has excellent skills.

    IDontLikeTools.

At first, I thought she’d just be a filler-level role with her Iron tier, but she stuck with the 5 days of practice really hard.

Now she can proudly be called a member of our team.

    Mia.

I’m not sure about solo rank yet, but she seems to have firmly established herself in the mid position rather than support in team games.

Knowing how difficult position changes are, I applaud her even more and her passion to win no matter what.

    Yerin.

If we win, she could be said to be our team’s greatest contributor.

Of course, in terms of skill, she can’t keep up with 19girl or me, but she made us a ‘team’ in the true sense.

Lastly, even special coaching from ‘Soldier’, a World Series champion member!

With friends like these, how dare some extra team try to block our path?

The first semifinal match that started at 3 PM on Saturday.

Our team was reborn with a completely different appearance from before.

“Huh! Hani-nim has gone crazy! She completely succeeds in counter-ganking and destroys the enemy mid together with Mia-nim!”

“Is this really the Fighting Girls team we saw last week? Why did their teamwork suddenly improve so much?”

-Is she a god? Is she a god? Is she a god?

-Levia fanboys get rekt ㅋ Who’s the championship candidate now?

-Fighting Girls were hiding their strength.

-No ㅋ What is this when they said they’d fall in the semifinals. They’re just crushing them.

-Cut the reverse bettors! Reverse bettors, check the Han River water temperature before going in.

We destroy mid and corner top before beating them up.

The enemy jungler, who took a big hit from the start, is scared and has fled to the bottom side.

    A very one-sided game.

The opposing team tried to drag out time and aim for a late-game reversal somehow, but our improved teamwork didn’t allow it.

A snowball rolled with united teamwork.

In the end, the game was finished before 25 minutes.

“You were really amazing today! Where do you think the cause of the rapidly improved performance is?”

“Especially the jungle side was completely solved, could Hani-nim answer?”

Interview time after the game ended.

The excited hosts flocked to our team.

Not just them, but viewers were paying attention too.

We were picked as the top team to be eliminated in the semifinals, but we captured everyone’s attention with game performance on a different level.

The two teams playing after us were looking this way too.

They looked curious about what kind of answer we would give.

Should I say we bought time efficiency with the power of money?

    I don’t feel like there’s a proper answer.

Suddenly, one word flashed through my mind.

“Oh! Did you think of the secret?”

“What on earth is the answer? The secret to the team’s suddenly skyrocketing strength!”

I tell the secret into the microphone the host pushed forward.

“Maybe it’s thanks to the double… bed. After all, good sleep quality is necessary to play games well too.”

    “Eh?”

    “What does that…”

While everyone tilted their heads, only our team members who knew the inside story had small smiles on their lips.
