Chapter 7: School Life is Sick! (2)
by fnovelpia
What the hell is this insane guy up to!
“Hey, you damn jerk! No matter what, you don’t draw a sword in a school brawl! Did your mother raise you in a back alley to behave like this, huh!”
“I’m going to kill you!”
Can you believe it?! Never did I think he’d pull out a sword! This is way out of my calculations!
What kind of world is this, where a high school student attempts murder?!
“Help! Somebody, save meeeee!!!”
-Crash!
Pushing away chairs, knocking over desks, I sprint across the broad classroom. The so-called heroic students, taken by surprise, only stand still and are of no help whatsoever.
“This noisy bastard dares…!”
Ryu Chun-hwi, clearly pissed, follows after me. His sword begins to leak his murderous intent, just great!
The situation has already escalated! I just have to respond calmly! I can’t keep wailing like an idiot like yesterday!
“Quit your bullsh*t and put the sword down, you wannabe murderer! If you stop now, I won’t press charges!”
“Shut up!”
I compose myself.
Did he think I was just bluffing?
I didn’t create this chaos without thinking. At least if I scream for help, someone will come to the rescue. A teacher, or anyone. The morning roll call is about to start soon, someone will come running at the sound of the commotion. If it’s a teacher, it’s practically a guaranteed escape.
And there’s another fallback plan, too.
If this game follows the usual clichés…
“What’s happening here!”
The protagonist can’t stand to see injustice, right?
Isn’t that so?
He’s pretty handsome.
A student with hair as black as mine bursts through the door and shouts. The moment he does, I escape into the corridor through that very door. And then, I look back into the classroom through the door I just exited.
“Hold on a second. Fighting in school. What on earth is going on?”
“Get lost.”
“I can’t do that. There’s a student here ready to fight with a sword. I can’t ignore that.”
Look at that upright character!
I know! That guy is the protagonist, ‘Lee Si-hu’, from the game ‘War Hero of the Academy’! As per his profile, he’s kind and just. And a bit of a pushover.
A somewhat typical protagonist type.
He was one of my targets. Whether it’s a teacher, Lee Si-hu, or even Leona who I chatted with yesterday.
If one of these three shows up, the fight ends then and there.
It’s an escape success.
And if there’s any more trouble because of this, I’ll just go to the principal. Initially, it was this bastard who started the fight, so I have every right. Given that the principal had beaten the crap out of me before, she might just listen if I ask.
“Put the sword away first. Can you tell me why you’re fighting? It’s unacceptable to see friends fighting in school.”
Truly reliable.
According to the wiki, the protagonist has an immense potential for growth. I’m not sure, but given the game’s name, ‘War Hero of the Academy’, it seems like the protagonist will ultimately resolve the crisis.
That’s how it usually goes, right?
“What the hell are you doing?!”
“If you side with him, I will kill you.”
In an instant, Ryu Chun-hwi swung his sword at Lee Si-hu!
“Such a crazy psycho!”
Not only that, but while scattering his sword aura!
This guy is totally a murderer!
Suddenly, a classmate who had nothing to do with this was being slashed at just for trying to stop the fight! This is far beyond common sense!
He should be expelled from school right away…!
I should file a double lawsuit…!
But!
Clang!
Suddenly, Lee Si-hu, wielding a shining golden sword, successfully blocked that attack!
“What the hell are you doing?!”
“…Blocked it? My attack?”
“Huh? Wasn’t that an attack to be blocked? Ah, you didn’t mean to attack seriously? That’s a relief.”
“You bastard!!!”
His ability to provoke is outstanding too…!
And so.
Clash!
The duel between the top entrant Ryu Chun-hwi and our protagonist Lee Si-hu began. Their fierce sword strikes were randomly colliding, with sparks flying everywhere. It was such a spectacular sight that everyone was mesmerized.
An explosive action scene.
“Oh, oh…”
“That’s the top entrant’s ability…”
“But who is he? How can he block all of the top entrant’s attacks…”
The students were in the same state, too. Just like me, they were spellbound, watching the fight.
“I’ll kill you!!!”
“Wait! Let’s settle this through conversation! Ah, damn! If it goes like this, I have no choice but to show my abilities!”
“Shut up!!!”
As the fight intensifies.
“They are fighting well.”
A voice came from behind.
Is she talking to me?
“Indeed. What the hell, these kids fight so well… They’re human weapons.”
Turning around gently.
“I’m Instructor Lee Sora.”
“Ah.”
My heart feels like it’s going to break.
“Stop immediately, you fools!!!!!!”
At the same time the instructor shouted,
“Aaaaaah!”
Unable to resist the wind pressure, I was sent flying and crashed into a wall.
“Cough!”
Can I skip morning assembly?
After the morning assembly was over.
With the brief time remaining before the start of the first period, I took Lee Si-hu to the vending machine near the stairs to express my gratitude. Ryu Chun-hwi was taken away, so I felt relieved.
“Wow! Really, thank you! You’re Lee, right? Let’s get along!”
“Ah, yeah. I look forward to it. You’re Kim, right?”
He responds with a cool smile.
“Yeah, talk with me casually.”
Anyway, I handed the canned cola I got from the vending machine over to Lee Si-hu.
“Drink up. This isn’t my idea of a full repayment, but I owe you for saving me. You’re my savior, man.”
“Hahaha, there’s no need to worry about it. Isn’t it normal for friends to step in when there’s a fight? I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, so there’s no need for any repayments.”
“Is that so? Well then, it’s also normal for a friend to buy a cola. Take it.”
“…Ah.”
Lee Si-hu hesitated for a moment at my words but,
“Thanks.”
He thanked me and accepted the cola.
If he was going to drink it, why hesitate to accept it? Anyway, I got myself a diet cola. Regular cola is definitely tastier, so it’s the least I could do.
Gulp, gulp.
But the sensation of the fizz going down my throat… it’s truly the best! Even if the world changes, the cola stays the same!
“Wow! Seriously, thanks a lot! I’m not kidding, I was really about to be done for back there. I was okay with taking the fight, but the guy suddenly pulls a sword? It really scared the hell out of me. I thought I was done for. But then you came along and saved me.”
Expressing my gratitude, I patted Lee Si-hu’s shoulder. He laughed awkwardly, scratching his cheek as he replied.
“I don’t think he really intended to kill you. If he wanted to, he would have genuinely swung that sword.”
“It looked the same to me either way.”
This Lee Si-hu guy is the typical good-natured protagonist.
Judging from the game title, he’ll probably become super powerful and end up saving the world or something along those lines.
Being friends with him seemed like a very fortunate thing. After all, the game would be primarily centered around the protagonist. The closer I get to him, the more chances I would have to survive.
Plus, he’s the one who saved me.
There’s no reason not to be friends with him.
I’m really grateful.
“But what in the world were you fighting about?”
“It was nothing big. I was about to sit down and some kid had his foot on my chair. So, I told him to move it and he did. But then this bastard suddenly kicks me in the back… Agh! I got up, thinking I should give him a piece of my mind, and he pulls a sword. The kid must’ve lost it.”
I’m definitely reporting him. How dare that bastard do something like that? I can’t stand to see someone like that become a hero. I should formally protest at the school. This isn’t the wild, who pulls a sword like that?
“Oh, by the way, he pulled the sword because I cursed him out after he hit me. That sudden surge of energy from him… Man, it was no joke. That’s when I realized, ah, I can’t win against this guy. So, I ran like hell. Hehehe.”
With my explanation,
“Cough… Ha, haha! Hahaha!”
He laughed as if he found it really amusing.
“What? You’re laughing?”
“No, no! I’m not mocking you! It’s just that your explanation was so funny! Haha, you have a way with words, don’t you?”
“How much funnier could it have been? Ah, it’s all finished. Let’s go in now. Thanks again for saving me.”
“Sure.”
Is it really time for the first period to start now?
I don’t know what kind of lesson I’ll end up taking, but no matter what it is, it’s terrifying enough to make my skin crawl. But what can I do about it? I have a friend named Lee Si-hu. If there’s anything I don’t know, I’ll ask him. That way, I should be able to keep up with the lessons, right?
With that in mind, I was heading back to the classroom.
-Ding.
―――――――――――――――――
「Quest Complete」
「Defeat of a Hostile Student」
「Reward: 2,000 Coins」
―――――――――――――――――
The reward came in.
“Hehehe.”
Wow, is it really a big deal to defeat someone? If there’s a disturbance in the school, all the teachers know about it. Even if you try to hush it up and storm into the staff room saying there was a fight, everyone would try to break it up.
Especially here, it’s not just an ordinary school, but an academy. It’s a place where students walk around with weapons. Given the nature of the place, I had the belief that they would respond quickly and accurately, which is why I pulled that stunt.
Well, making a quick buck of 2,000 coins off some punk isn’t the most profitable business, but originally, that punk started the conflict, so this was bound to happen. It was just a matter of time. Consider it as pre-dealing with an event that was bound to happen someday.
I’m not at work, I’m at school, why would I bother with compromising? If you act like a jerk, you deserve to be hit.
I might worry if it was some giant monster, but humans in a civilized world aren’t that scary.
No matter what, it was fortunate that Lee Si-hu came. But even if he hadn’t, it would’ve been no big deal. I could’ve just searched for Instructor Lee Sora. Or my plan was to run down the hallway, shouting for help.
“2,000 coins are sweet, so sweet.”
I love it so much.
But where do I use this?
Tell me, you jerk.
“Huff.”
Anyway.
Shall I calm my mind before the first lesson?
As I sat down and was about to pull out my phone.
-Thump!
The door opened forcefully, and a beautiful woman entered.
“Hello hello! Welcome welcome! Hello, students! I am Kawar, your Magic Combat Instructor! Everyone, take your seats!”
She has a bubbly vibe.
