Chapter 64: Shy
by Afuhfuihgs“We have arrived, Licorice.”
I turned my gaze out the carriage window at the Baron’s words.
A truly magnificent mansion spread out before my eyes.
The white marble pillars and silver roof shone dazzlingly, like a palace from a fairy tale.
When the carriage stopped, more than ten servants were already lined up.
They were all neatly dressed and had polite expressions.
At the very front stood an old butler in a gray suit and bow tie, standing elegantly.
“Come, let’s get out.”
The Baron got out of the carriage first and held out his hand to me.
Before I knew it, my body elegantly took his hand and got out of the carriage.
I couldn’t see the hem of my dress fluttering slightly in the wind, but judging from the servants’ admiring looks, it must have been wonderful.
“Jason, an honored guest has arrived. Prepare the best meal.”
“Yes, Baron. I will prepare it right away.”
The butler bowed his head politely and answered.
Then he bowed deeply to me.
“It is an honor to welcome you to our Silverbrock Manor.”
“Yes. Thank you.”
I tried to speak plainly, but my voice flowed out smoothly as if it was gliding over water.
The Baron smiled with satisfaction and gestured toward the manor.
“Would you like to take a look at my modest garden as you pass by?”
Garden?
The sight that unfolded before my eyes as I passed through the black iron gate took my breath away.
The expansive garden was filled with all kinds of flowers and trees.
Well-kept lawns and stone paths, white marble statues placed here and there, and even a large fountain in the center!
‘Wow!’
“Oh…”
I exclaimed involuntarily.
The exclamation that came out of my mouth was a bit different, but…
As a flower, my heart fluttered for no reason when I saw such a beautiful garden.
What if I made a garden like this in Sia Calt?
Would my master like it?
How romantic it would be to walk through a garden like this with my master…
Just thinking about it made my heart pound.
At that moment, Miel and Cecilia suddenly flew up and quickly headed toward the garden.
Blue and red lights intersected as they disappeared among the flowers.
“Eh.”
I was worried for a moment and tried to follow them.
But the Baron smiled and stood in front of me.
“Don’t worry. I’ll show you around the garden myself.”
I actually felt good about the Baron’s kind offer.
It was fun to look at beautiful gardens!
‘That would be great!’
Just as I was about to answer brightly, something completely different came out of my mouth.
“Gardens like this are all the same. I’ll go and come back alone, so go in first.”
My voice sounded somewhat bored and arrogant.
That wasn’t what I was going to say!
No, this is too much!
I’ve hurt the Baron’s feelings!
The Baron’s expression turned gloomy for a moment, then quickly changed to a professional smile.
“Understood. We’ll go in first. Feel free to look around and come back.”
The Baron led Ryandel and Raby into the mansion.
Raby looked at me with a slightly confused expression and followed the Baron.
‘Ha… What should I do? That’s not what I was going to say…’
Because of my trait, I ended up saying something completely different from what I intended.
Why did Lord Nis give me this trait?
What kind of person was he trying to make me?
I felt a little depressed for no reason.
Lotte was still hovering around me, watching over me.
Yes.
I should go see Lotte’s garden.
With every step I took, a new beauty of the garden caught my eye.
Flowers of various colors greeted me with their fragrance.
In particular, there were orange flowers planted here and there, and their color was so pretty.
‘What kind of flower is this? I should ask Ryandel later.’
I walked along the narrow stone path that crossed the garden while admiring the flowers.
The stone path that zigzagged between the flower beds guided me through beautiful scenery like a maze.
However, I was momentarily distracted by the flowers and did not notice the stone at my feet and stepped on it.
I lost my balance for a moment and almost fell forward.
“Oops!”
But my body suddenly moved automatically.
The hem of my dress fluttered gracefully, spinning around like a ballerina before regaining my perfect balance.
Even my fingertips were elegantly pointing to the sky.
“Wow, this is really great!”
I didn’t know that the noble trait would work like this in a critical situation where I would fall!
I complained about that, but it’s surprisingly useful?
“Sometimes it seems good, right?”
I muttered to myself.
I turned toward a small pond past a narrow path.
I continued walking, looking around for Miel and Cecilia.
I had already walked for quite some time, but I still couldn’t see them.
“Where on earth did they go?”
It would be easy to get lost in such a large garden…
As I turned my head to explore the garden further, I noticed a small gazebo in the corner of the garden.
It was a pavilion-like building surrounded by white pillars, and I could see something moving inside.
As I approached it, I saw a familiar blue and red light.
Miel and Cecilia!
But they weren’t alone.
A little boy was with them.
The child had neat brown hair and was dressed neatly.
He looked remarkably like the Baron.
Could he be the Baron’s son?
The child was observing Miel and Cecilia with curious eyes.
A thick book was spread out on his lap.
I could see the title, “History of the Great Dragons,” written in gold letters on the cover.
Will the Master appear in that book?
As I approached, Miel and Cecilia noticed and quickly flew to me.
Two butterflies happily circled around me.
The child also raised his head as if he had noticed my presence.
At that moment, a look of surprise spread across the child’s face.
“Hello?”
When I greeted him friendly, the child’s eyes widened.
Then suddenly he averted his gaze and his face turned red.
His hand, which was tightly holding the book, seemed to tremble slightly.
At that moment, Miel fluttered subtly and hovered near my ear.
He saw the child avert his gaze and his cheeks turn red, and then he suddenly began to flutter very excitedly.
Then he quickly flew over the child’s head and landed.
What is Miel doing?
When I looked, she was fiddling with her little legs, fiddling with the child’s hair.
She didn’t seem to know yet…
When I got closer, I saw that Miel had made a heart shape out of the child’s brown hair at the crown of her head!
This guy’s eyes sparkled whenever he talked about love!
‘Hey, don’t joke around!’
I scolded Miel internally, but Miel had already completed the heart shape and was proudly spreading her wings as if showing off her work, sitting on top of her heart-shaped hair.
I almost laughed at the ridiculous situation, but I held it back.
“Are you the Baron’s son?”
“Oh… Yes, yes… Shai Silverbrock…”
The child’s voice was small, as if crawling.
Her name is Shai?
She really does seem timid.
She’s living up to her name!
“What were you doing here?”
“Uh… I was reading a book when a strange butterfly came…”
Shai stopped talking and looked at Lotte floating next to me.
At that moment, the child’s eyes widened even more.
“Wow…”
The metal surface of Lotte sparkled, reflecting the sunlight.
Shai’s surprised reaction was so cute.
It was like a child seeing magic for the first time.
My playfulness kicked in and I wanted to tease him a little.
“I’m going to eat. Do you want to come with me?”
“Yes? Yes, yes…!”
The child stammered in embarrassment, his face turning red like a tomato.
How cute!
“Oh, by the way, this is your house.”
“Yes…?”
I couldn’t help but giggle at Shai’s confused expression.
This kid is really cute!
The reaction was so innocent that it was teasing.
“Good, right? Come on, let’s go.”
I started walking with Shai.
It was funny how the child followed me hesitantly.
I thought, ‘This is your house, shouldn’t you be the one leading the way?’
But I didn’t say anything.
I thought she’d get upset if I teased her any more!
We walked along the garden path in silence.
As the awkward silence continued, Shai mustered up the courage to ask in a small voice.
“Uh… who are you, my sister…?”
‘Licorice. A subordinate of the great Lord Prostia, and an apostle of Lord Mikel.’
The moment I was about to proudly answer, something completely different came out of me.
“Hehe. It’s a secret.”
Ugh!
Another strange word came out!
My voice sounded mysterious, like a noble person keeping a secret.
“Ah…”
Shai became sullen, as if she was speechless.
I felt sorry for no reason.
“But, my sister? How old are you?”
I asked to change the mood.
“Eight…”
“I’m six?”
“Huh…? Lies…”
Shai’s eyes filled with suspicion.
No matter how small my stature was, I was about a hand’s length taller than Shai.
“It’s true. I’m not human.”
At that moment, Shai’s pupils shook.
It was as if she realized something.
“S-Surely… a dragon…? In the book…”
‘Hehe. The dragon is the master and I’m a flower!’
“Hehe. Imagine as you wish.”
Another completely different word came out of my mouth.
I automatically made an elegant gesture of covering my mouth and smiling.
This is bound to cause a misunderstanding!
“Dragons… I thought there were only guardian dragons of the Kargon Dragon Kingdom…”
Kargon Dragon Kingdom?
It was the country I saw on the world map Ryandel showed me.
It was said to be a kingdom protected by dragons in the southern part of the continent.
I wanted to know more.
‘Tell me about the Kargon Dragon Kingdom.’
“The world is vast. It’s not everything that’s written in books.”
No…
This trait is really strange…
I’m already being mistaken for a dragon, and it’s making it even deeper!
Will they really think I’m a disguised dragon at this rate?
Ah… How can I turn this trait off?
