Chapter 63: Silver Block
by AfuhfuihgsWhen the cold air of dawn filled the ice cave, I woke up from a light sleep.
It was amazing that I had this kind of biological clock even when I was in flower form.
The soft sunlight reflected off the ice walls began to illuminate the cave, and only the breathing of Ryandel and Ravie, who were still deep in sleep, broke the silence.
“One more step toward the master today!”
I immediately used polymorph and transformed into a human form.
Dark red smoke briefly enveloped the surroundings and slowly cleared, revealing my human form.
Ravie rubbed her eyes and got up.
“Ugh… Ah, Lycoris-sama, you’re already awake!”
Ravie jumped up from her seat.
Ryandel, who was next to me, also woke up and looked at me.
“Lycoris-sama, that transformation… It’s amazing to see it again.”
“Hehe! This is nothing special. The master’s polymorph is much more awesome!”
After a simple breakfast, we set off again.
The four Aces also found their respective seats.
Miel sat on my hair, Cecilia on my shoulder, and Lotte circled around me as always.
Only Glessia followed slowly behind.
“How much longer is it until the end of Seolhanryeong?”
“If we continue in this direction, we should be able to get there in a few hours.”
Before Ryandel could finish speaking, Miel suddenly flapped her hair vigorously on my hair.
It seemed as if she was saying, ‘Let’s go quickly!’
“Yes, let’s go quickly! We have to see our master as soon as possible!”
Although I had heard from Michel that our master was safe, my steps quickened because I wanted to see his face again.
As time passed, I finally began to see the end of Seolhanryeong.
The endless white snow and ice valley gradually narrowed, and a blue light shimmered ahead.
“You can see it over there. The end of Seolhanryeong.”
When Ryandel pointed with his finger, I started to run without realizing it, excited.
“Wow! Finally!”
The sight that unfolded before my eyes as soon as I left Seolhanryeong took my breath away.
The endless green grassland swayed in the wind.
The sky was clear and blue, and the clouds in the distance were soft like cotton candy.
“Wow… so pretty…”
The dazzling sunlight gently enveloped the vast grassland.
The flowers swayed as if dancing with the wind, and I could hear the rustling sound of the grass leaves being caressed by the wind.
I instinctively reached out and lightly brushed a flower. I felt the moist dew disappear from my fingertips and gently seep into my skin.
“Lycoris, if you go straight in that direction, you will come across a town called ‘Silverbrook’ in the Kingdom of Genes. It is an important trading city in the northern part of the kingdom.”
Ryandel said, pointing to the horizon.
“How long will it take?”
“It will take about three hours if you walk.”
“We have to walk again…”
I complained slightly, but in fact, walking through this beautiful grassland was not bad.
I really liked this scenery with various grasses and flowers growing as flowers.
We started walking again.
The feeling of the grass brushing against the hem of my dress felt good.
Cecilia and Miel seemed more excited about this new environment.
Cecilia’s flame wings shone even brighter in the sunlight, and Miel flew around, landing briefly on various wild flowers.
“It would be really nice to walk around a place like this with my master…”
Just imagining it made my heart race.
How well my master’s silver hair would match this blue background!
The sight of us walking together, holding hands, and occasionally having a pleasant conversation…
Glessia also flew around more energetically than usual.
Despite her large body, she looked cuter than I thought as she gracefully moved between the small flowers.
Only Lotte was still calmly circling around me.
‘Is Lotte a bit bored? Or is she not interested in this kind of scenery?’
As I walked with such thoughts, a small castle wall began to appear beyond the horizon.
The sun was slowly setting to the west, and the golden sunlight shining on the castle wall created a mysterious atmosphere.
“That’s Silverbrook over there,” Ryandel said, pointing.
“Oh, we’ve finally arrived!”
The walled town came into view more clearly.
Several guards were standing in front of the gate. Miel, Cecilia, and Glesia flew over and approached first.
Only Lotte was still circling around me.
“Wait, wait! What is that?!”
One of the guards suddenly shouted.
They immediately drew their spears and swords, especially when they saw Glesia.
“That’s… a wasp? Where can you find a wasp that big?!”
One of the young guards shouted with a trembling voice.
“Calm down. That’s definitely a monster.”
The guard who seemed to be a little older said.
“Captain! What should we do? I’ve never seen a monster like that…”
“Everyone, prepare! If they attack…”
“Kids, don’t go too far ahead!”
I shouted and quickly approached.
The guards seemed more nervous as I approached, and their postures became more tense.
“Don’t worry, they’re my children. I won’t hurt them.”
“Ki… children you’re raising?”
The young guard said with wide eyes.
“Yes, we are not here to threaten this village,” Ryandel said, taking a step forward.
“We are just travelers.”
The guard, who seemed to be the captain, looked at us suspiciously.
“I’m sorry, but we cannot allow such dangerous… creatures into the village. Even if they are tamed…”
“Oh, they are really good children. Listen to me. Look!”
I waved and Cecilia gracefully flew over and landed on my finger.
Miel flapped her wings cutely over my hair.
“Butterflies… are fine, but that giant wasp…”
The captain pointed to Glesia, still looking worried.
“Glesia! Say hello.”
Glesia slowly flew over and stopped in midair in front of the guards. She then folded her wings lightly and bowed her head slightly.
“Wow, you really do listen…”
The young guard muttered with a surprised expression.
“I’m sorry, but… you…”
One of the guards cautiously opened his mouth.
His gaze moved from my face to my dress, and then back to my actions.
“By any chance… what family are you from?”
“Huh?”
I tilted my head at the guard’s words.
“Why do you think so?”
“T-that’s… the young lady’s noble bearing and attitude… and that dress…”
The guard stuttered, seeming flustered.
“And the young lady’s hair and eye color…”
Another guard cut in.
‘Hehe. Am I the epitome of a noble?’
“No, I’m not a noble. I’m an S-class adventurer!”
I said with a laugh.
Then I took out my S-class badge and showed it to them.
The guards’ eyes widened at the sight of the blue metal, the sparkling crystals, and the badge with my name engraved on it.
“S… an S-class adventurer?!”
one guard asked back in surprise.
“Oh my goodness! In my 15 years of guarding, this is the first time I’ve ever met an S-class adventurer in person!”
The captain suddenly straightened his posture and said.
“You’re truly amazing! In that case… those monsters…”
“Yes, they’re the ones I’m raising. Don’t worry, they won’t harm anyone unless I tell them to.”
“Open the gate quickly! You can’t keep an S-class adventurer waiting!”
The captain ordered the young guard.
The young guard quickly opened the gate wide.
After confirming Ryandel and Ravie’s identities, they guided us into the village.
“Welcome to Silverbrook, Lady Lycoris. If you need any help, please contact the gate guard at any time.”
The captain said with a sincere voice.
As we passed through the gate and entered the village, we felt a scale and vitality that was incomparable to that of Sia Kalt Village.
Well-paved stone streets, various shops, and people bustling about.
There was a large fountain in the center of the village, and people in fancy clothes gathered around it.
“Wow, this place is really big!”
I exclaimed in excitement.
The village of Sia Kalt was small and quiet, but it was bustling and lively.
“Lyandel, what should we do now?”
“If you’re going to head straight to the next town, you can rent a carriage. Silverbrook is a major transportation hub, so there are many carriages and various lodgings.”
“Carriage?! Wow, we don’t have to walk anymore?!”
My voice rose an octave in excitement.
I’ve been walking all this time, so I was really happy to be able to travel comfortably by carriage.
“Why don’t you take a look around Silverbrook? The carriage usually leaves in the morning, so I think it would be good to rest here tonight.”
Ravie suggested.
‘Hmm… If you give me a lot of money, I can leave right away.’
The road to Desmere was still long, and I wanted to meet my master soon, but looking at Ravie’s bright expression…
it didn’t seem like a bad idea to take a look around a little.
“Yeah, let’s take a look around a little!”
We started walking slowly through the town.
We looked around various shops and restaurants that smelled delicious.
But I started to feel a little strange. Everyone’s eyes were focused on me.
And when our eyes met, most flinched and stepped back.
“Why do people act like that?”
I asked in a whisper.
“I think it’s because of Glesia. A wasp that big… would be scary.”
Ryandel explained quietly.
“Hmm… Then where should I leave Glesia?”
I looked around while thinking that, and a building caught my eye.
It was the Silverbrook Adventurer’s Guild.
It was a large three-story building, much larger than Sia Kalt’s guild.
“There’s the Adventurer’s Guild over there. Should I leave Glesia there and go?”
Ravie and Ryandel nodded in agreement.
“Oh, by the way, I’ll go in alone.”
If a young and weak-looking girl like me were to enter an Adventurer’s Guild that seemed to be full of people, of course they’d pick a fight?
And the cliché of other worlds is to trample on those guys mercilessly!
I absolutely can’t stand this!
“Lycoris-sama, is it okay for you to go alone?”
Ravie asked with a worried look.
“It’s okay! Hehe!”
In my imagination, a scene where all the adventurers would laugh as soon as I entered the guild, and then everyone would be shocked when I showed them my S-class badge.
A feeling of anticipation rose up in me at that thought.
“Then just wait a moment!”
I forcefully opened the door to the Adventurer’s Guild and went in.
At the sound of the door opening, all the adventurers in the guild turned their heads.
Their eyes widened and stared at me.
‘Now, who’s going to pick a fight?’
However, no one approached me.
Instead, whispers were passed around among the people.
“That girl… is she a noble?”
“Of course. Only nobles who’ve never seen the sun have skin like that.”
“I don’t think she’s from our kingdom.”
“Aren’t you from the empire? The nobles of the empire are said to be very pretty.”
“Yes, she really is pretty. She’ll be amazing when she grows up.”
“But why did you come to the guild?”
“I don’t know, did you come here to make a request?”
“A request from a family? Huh, I guess they’ll ask me to do something ridiculously dangerous again.”
The whispering continued, a mixture of curiosity and slight discontent.
‘Huh? What? Isn’t it the rule in other-worldly adventurer guilds that when you join one, you’ll laugh at at least one person and start a fight, and then later get hit and start shaking?’
But the adventurers here were different.
Instead of laughing at me, they were cautiously watching me from the beginning.
‘It’s not fun because you’re mistaken for a noble!’
I liked the story about my pretty appearance, but this wasn’t the picture I was looking for at all.
Disappointed, I trudged to the reception desk.
The female employee at the reception desk bowed her head with a slightly nervous expression when she saw me.
“Hello, distinguished guest. How may I help you?”
Her voice was polite, but she sounded nervous.
I handed over my S-class badge without saying anything.
The woman’s eyes widened as soon as they touched the badge.
I liked her surprised expression.
“Are you an S…S-class adventurer!?”
Her voice trembled slightly.
At that sound, all the adventurers around her looked in this direction.
“So, you’re not a noble, but an S-class…?”
Someone muttered.
“Oh my god! It’s a real S-class badge!”
Another voice was heard.
“How could you be so young…?”
“There were S-classes like that?”
In an instant, the guild began to stir.
‘Hehe!’
That’s right, that’s the reaction!
Everyone is amazed at me!
Even Michel-sama’s apostles are being exposed!?
Hmm…
Then is it going to be too loud?
“Hey, everyone, be quiet! Don’t be rude to an S-class adventurer!”
A thick voice was heard from behind the counter.
A middle-aged, muscular man appeared.
He had the guild master badge on his chest.
“Is that right, Lycoris? I’m the guild master of the Silverbrook Adventurer’s Guild. How may I help you?”
“Yes, that’s right! Could you take care of the monsters I’m raising?”
“Monsters…?”
The guild master looked slightly embarrassed.
“You guys outside! Come in!”
At my shout, the door opened and the four members of Ryandel, Ravie, and Ace came in.
Especially when Glesia’s huge body came in, the guild became quiet in an instant.
All the adventurers looked at Glesia with stiff expressions.
“This… This…”
The guild master’s face hardened.
“What, what is that…”
One adventurer muttered.
“Calm down!”
Ryandel stepped forward.
“These monsters all follow the orders of Lady Lycoris. They don’t harm anyone.”
“Yes, they are really good kids!”
Ravie also joined in.
“Oh, don’t worry. They are good kids. Just take care of one big wasp. I’ll be back soon.”
The receptionist looked at Glesia with a sad face.
“Uh… That… Wasp?”
“It’s not a wasp, it’s more like a monster…”
One adventurer said in a low voice.
“She’s an S-class, so of course she can handle a monster like that…”
“How can someone keep something like that as a pet? S-classes are really different…”
“I could never do that.”
The adventurers murmured.
The guild master took a deep breath.
“Lord Lycoris, our guild doesn’t have a separate monster storage, but… you can use the underground storage.”
“It’s okay. Glesia is nice, so she can stay here just fine. Glesia, stay here. I’ll be right back.”
Glesia slowly flew to the corner behind the receptionist and made herself comfortable.
He still looked lazy, but at least he didn’t look threatening.
“Look! Are you okay?”
The receptionist still looked at the guild master with an anxious expression, but the guild master slowly nodded.
Anyway, after leaving Glessia at the guild, I, Ryandel, Ravie, and the three Aces went back out into the street.
“I was hoping someone would pick a fight, but since they thought I was a noble, they were really cautious.”
I grumbled slightly.
“Just by looking at Lady Lycoris’s aura, anyone would think she was a noble lady. However, since nobles rarely visit Sia Kalt Village, there was probably no such reaction.”
“That’s right! Honestly, looking at it now, Ryandel and I look like complete attendants, don’t we?”
I flinched and looked back and forth between the two.
“Hmm, I see.”
It was because I was too noble.
“Moreover, I’ll probably be less bothered by the people who were uncomfortable because of Glessia!”
People’s eyes were still on me, but their fear had disappeared, and they seemed full of curiosity.
Especially because Miel, Cecilia, and Lotte were there, the children were pointing and having fun.
“That butterfly over there is so amazing! It has six wings!”
“There’s a strange ball floating around!”
I could hear voices saying,
“That girl is really pretty!”
Of course, there were more stories about my shining beauty.
Hehe!
We walked slowly through the town center. We saw stores selling fancy clothes and various restaurants.
The fragrant smell of bread and grilled meat tickled our noses.
“Lycoris, if you’re hungry, I think it would be nice to eat there.”
Ryandel pointed to a fancy-looking restaurant.
I was about to nod when suddenly the sound of a large carriage was heard. A fancy carriage was approaching us.
It was a magnificent carriage decorated with gold decorations and red curtains.
This carriage, drawn by two white horses, had a distinctly aristocratic quality that was different from ordinary carriages.
‘Oh, what is it?’
The carriage stopped in front of us, and the door opened wide.
A young man in a well-tailored suit got out.
As soon as he saw me, his eyes widened and he paused for a moment.
“Oh… Hello.”
He bowed deeply to me and greeted me.
I was taken aback by his overly polite attitude.
“I am Edwin Silverbrock, Baron of Silverbrock. Are you… from the royal family?”
“Royal family? Do you think I am royalty?”
The thought crossed my mind, and I laughed.
“I should say hello first.”
As I was about to say hello, my body suddenly began to move on its own.
I moved gracefully as if I was dancing, lifting my skirt slightly and bowing my head, perfectly executing the noble greeting.
“Nice to meet you, Baron Silverbrock.”
Even the words that came out of my mouth sounded more elegant and formal than usual.
Ravie and Ryandel looked at me with surprised expressions.
“This is… clearly due to the etiquette of a noble daughter?”
Do you only do this to nobles?
I was also embarrassed by my actions just now, but I tried not to show it on the outside.
“I am not from the royal family, I am just sightseeing.”
When I said this with a natural and elegant gesture, the baron’s face hardened for a moment.
“Ah… is that so? If you don’t mind, may I ask which family you are from?”
“Which family? The Prostia family, I guess…”
However, the words that came out of my mouth were completely different.
“Hehe, that’s a secret.”
‘Huh!?’
I was surprised by the aristocratic smile and tone that came out of my mouth without me knowing.
This is trouble!
I feel like I’ve completely become Lord Nis…!
The Baron simply looked at me with awe.
His eyes were filled with the respect one might expect from a high-ranking noble or royal family.
“I see. If you don’t mind, may I invite you to my mansion? I would like to entertain an honored guest who has come from far away.”
I hesitated for a moment at the Baron’s invitation.
It’s a bit awkward to go to a stranger’s house… but a noble’s mansion.
This kind of experience also seemed interesting.
“Yeah, good!”
‘What? This time it’s coming out right?’
I answered brightly, and the Baron smiled brightly.
He opened the carriage door wide and invited us in.
“Welcome. I hope you will rest comfortably in the mansion and have a meal.”
The carriage was much more spacious and luxurious than I had expected.
The red velvet seats and gold decorations were gorgeous, and there were cookies and tea on a small table.
Miel flew around the carriage curiously, looking around, and Cecilia looked around while sitting on my shoulder.
Lotte also seemed comfortable to fly around because the space was wide.
‘Should I eat a cookie?’
I tried to grab the cookie in the carriage.
But my hand moved on its own, and I caught the cookie very elegantly with only my thumb and index finger.
Then I lifted the cookie as if I was dancing.
My little finger was sticking out like a dragon’s finial, a typical noble lady’s gesture.
“Ah!”
I shouted in surprise, but even that sound turned into a noble exclamation.
“What’s wrong?” the Baron asked worriedly.
“No… I just thought the cookie looked delicious.”
I was not used to this characteristic of noble dignity or noble lady etiquette automatically working.
When I tried to take a bite of the cookie, my lips opened very slightly like a cat’s, and I delicately bit off only a small piece.
‘At this rate, it’ll take me a day to eat one cookie…’
Ravie looked at me with surprised eyes.
I must have looked like a real noble in her eyes.
The Baron also looked at me with admiration and then moved his gaze to Ryandel and Ravie.
“Are you two bodyguards of Lady Lycoris?”
Ryandel looked embarrassed for a moment but then seemed to quickly understand the situation.
“Yes, that’s right. We are accompanying Lady Lycoris on her journey.”
He answered politely like a perfect attendant.
Ravie looked awkward, as if she still hadn’t fully grasped the situation.
Ryandel poked her in the side.
“Oh, yes! I am also… assisting Lady Lycoris.”
I laughed because her appearance was so cute.
However, perhaps because of her characteristic, her laughter came out as an elegant “Hoohoohoo.”
‘Lyandel is a magician of the Magic Tower and Ravie is an A-class adventurer.’
“These kids are my servants. It’s okay, just relax.”
Another strange line came out.
What on earth is the criteria for this to be activated…?
I just kept my mouth shut and started looking out the window.
The carriage continued to move quickly, and we entered the central area of Silverbrook.
Beyond the window, more and more luxurious buildings began to appear.
‘Oh… Is that it?’
A magnificent mansion of overwhelming size stood tall.
The silver roof and white marble pillars were magnificent.
Wasn’t Baron the lowest of the noble titles?
Baron was actually a lot better than I thought!
