Chapter 61: [EDen] The end of the human era has arrived [Yuki/Rin] (5)

[Belphegor: Are you ready to have a terrible time, kiddo?]

    -WA!!!! SANSSSS!!!!

    -zzzz

    -What’s wrong with these guys?

-Wow!! Belphegor!! Deus Ex Machina!! EDEN!!

    -Hahaha

-You know EDEN! It’s truly a GOD. TIER. GAME!!!

    -What is this

    -WA!!!

    -Wow! You know Belphegor!

    -What’s wrong with the chat

    -IT’S. F*CKING. DIFFICULT!

“No, really, what the hell is that skull thing that’s making the chat go crazy?”

    “Yuki-gong, surely you don’t know?”

“I don’t. What is it, you nerd.”

“Belphegor. The final boss of EDen, and if you don’t defeat him in time, Deus Ex Machina revives, takes over Lize’s body, and you get the bad ending…”

Seeing Rin excitedly explaining, it doesn’t seem like information I particularly need to know.

Not wanting the appearance of “Explainer Rin,” I let her words go in one ear and out the other.

While she continued her explanation, Belphegor resumed his lines.

[Belphegor: …Well, that being said, I usually just laze around in prison.]

[Belphegor: But since you’ve come out like this, I have no choice.]

[Belphegor: What a truly painful loss.]

The skeleton let out a cackling laugh, briefly lightening the mood.

But soon, he began to unleash attacks towards us, creating a storm of thorns that completely contradicted his lighthearted demeanor.

    Kwagwagwagwang!!!!

    “Kyaat─!!”

Perhaps she didn’t realize the attack was starting because she was focused on explaining?

Rin let out a short, sharp scream and dashed.

Still, thanks to her incredible reaction speed, she fortunately wasn’t hit by the attack.

[Belphegor: I don’t know why everyone doesn’t use strong attacks from the beginning.]

[Belphegor: Well, in my case, all attacks are strong attacks.]

While Belphegor was spouting more useless lines, Rin continued her consecutive dashes.

A long blue afterimage stretched out as she raced through Belphegor’s thorns.

Soon, having reached right in front of Belphegor, Rin brought down her crimson-stained sword vertically.

    [Skill ─ Overdrive]

    Kwagagagagak!!!

However, where Belphegor had been just moments ago, there was only the pipe-connected floor.

Then, Belphegor’s bony face contorted bizarrely, and an unpleasant, cackling laughter was heard.

[Belphegor: Did you think you were the only one who could dash?]

[Belphegor: But unfortunately for you, that’s originally my technique.]

As Rin dashed to attack again, Belphegor disappeared, leaving an afterimage of light.

Rin immediately turned around, parried the incoming thorns with a strong attack, and then dashed towards the airborne Belphegor.

    Kwagagak─!!

However, Belphegor once again used dash to evade Rin’s attack, and the skill she unleashed only left a long gash on the unfortunate wall.

    “Kuh, as expected, you’re annoying…!!”

    -Missed me~~~

    -He dodged that?

    -Lol…

    -Belphegor is crazy fast

    -Rin-sama… a loser?

“N-not a loser!! Just wait a little longer! This one can win…”

Rin, completely losing her temper at Belphegor’s continuous evasions, began to seriously utilize her dashes.

Up, down, left, right, front, back.

Whipping around in all 360 degrees, she shot forward as a blue flash.

And every time the afterimages left by Rin and Belphegor drew a zig zagged path, the screen that the viewers and I were watching flipped as if heaven and earth were being overturned.

    “Ugh… I’m dizzy…”

“Just endure it a little. This one needs to crush that skull bastard right now…!!”

    -Uhe…

    -Rin-sama is pissed

    -Real anger lol

    -I’m dizzy…

    -Scary

    -Rin-sama is scary

    -Hahahaha

    -Scary

    -My eyes are spinning…

How long had Rin and Belphegor’s battle continued like that?

Perhaps around 5 minutes had passed.

I had briefly looked away from the dizzily spinning screen.

    Kwaaaaaang!!!

With the sound of something exploding, Rin’s cheer came through the speakers.

    “Cleared it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

At Rin’s shout, I looked back at the screen to see the 5th floor in complete chaos.

And Belphegor, beaten to a pulp by Rin’s attacks.

Half of the skull had melted away, barely retaining its shape, and the other half was covered in marks that looked like something had clawed it.

The red flames that had been burning between the frames were now almost extinguished.

    “Die!!!!”

    Kwajik!!

Rin, having forgotten her RP by now, split Belphegor’s skull in half without any hesitation.

And with that, the faint light that had been shining from within the gashed eye sockets began to flicker and die out.

    [Belphegor: I, I… am a ma-ma-machine….. God, ma-ma-machine… God….. Gua-gua-guard…]

“At this point, Belphegor looks pitiful.”

“F*ck off. After toying with this one so much, this one cannot let him die peacefully. He deserves to be torn apart.”

    “Eek, scary…”

    -Lol…

    -Rin-sama is extra scary today…

    -Oni-Rin… (TL: Oni means demon)

    -Rin/Controversies and Incidents

    -Scary

[[Afterimage Shopping District For Lease] donated 20,000 won!]

    -Bunnagurin…

    -Bunnagurin?

-What the heck is that, you nerd

-It roughly means something like ‘Beat-the-sh*t-out-of-Rin’

    -Crazy lol

-Bunnagurin lol-This guy, totally Bunnagurin lololol

    -Hahaha

(TL: Bunnagurin (ぶっ殴り+りん): A word combining ‘to beat the sh*t out of’ and ‘Rin’.)

“Right? Rin has become too violent lately.”

    -Bunnagurin is right, FR

    -Totally violent!

    -As expected, Rin-sama was Cheonma…

    -Cheonma Rin…

-Isn’t the Rin Cheonma theory a conspiracy?

-To be as violent as Rin, one must be Cheonma… noted…

“So this one told you she’s not Cheonma!! And don’t take notes!!”

Rin finally exploded at the continuous teasing from the viewers and me.

However, even while Rin was yelling like that, the game’s story continued.

After defeating Belphegor, Rin’s character stood still for a while in front of the now scrap-metal Belphegor.

Only after a considerable time had passed did he slowly begin to walk towards the giant test tube in the center.

    “So Rin, what’s the story?”

“Ah, right. The battle started so suddenly, this one forgot to explain.”

“Quickly!! The story scene has already started!!”

    “Wa-wait a moment!! What happened was… originally on the 3rd floor…”

While the story scene was progressing, Rin hurriedly began her explanation.

And the content was roughly like this.

Originally, on the 3rd floor, you have to complete various quests to find Lize’s whereabouts and the path to the 4th floor.

And there, you apparently fight a ridiculous number of security robots to pad out the playtime.

Anyway, after clearing those quests, there are a few rumors you can learn.

That Deus Ex Machina is trying to descend into a new body.

And to find a ‘compatible one’ with a suitable brain, it was luring humans from outside the tower with ‘citizenship’ as bait.

Finally, that Deus Ex Machina would soon attempt to transfer its personality into that ‘compatible one’.

“So Lize came into the tower to get citizenship?”

“That’s right. But citizenship was bait from the beginning…”

“And Lize, who was deceived, got brainwashed by Deus Ex Machina.”

Lize was that very compatible one, and she fell for the sweet temptation of citizenship.

Eventually, her whole body was converted into a machine, and she became one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

And by the time we arrived, Deus Ex Machina was already being transferred into her body.

However, because Rin defeated Belphegor, the transfer was canceled.

All that remained was to confirm that Deus Ex Machina had not taken over her body.

And to confirm whether the brainwashed Lize had returned to normal.

Rin’s character, having reached the giant test tube in the center, drew her sword.

Then, taking a stance, he swung his sword towards the giant test tube.

    Jjaenggeurang!!!

The glass of the test tube shattered, and the liquid that filled it poured onto the floor.

    Hoodoo-dook.

The hoses attached to Lize’s back fell off.

Rin’s character caught Lize, who was collapsing limply.

At the unfamiliar touch, Lize slowly began to open her eyes.

    [Lize: ……]

    [Lize: …EDen.]

Lize called ‘my’ name for the first time in a hoarse voice.

Fortunately, the traces of brainwashing by Deus Ex Machina had completely disappeared.

All that remained was Lize, the pure girl she was before becoming a machine.

    [Lize: Sob… Hhuk…!]

Lize then began to cry, hugging EDen’s body.

EDen patted Lize, who was sobbing like a child, and at the same time, reached into his pocket and took something out.

Something Lize used to wear fondly.

Something in which a little of her untainted purity remained.

    It was a white ribbon.

    [Lize: You… this…]

Seeing the ribbon, Lize looked as if she couldn’t believe it for a moment, then began to cry again.

EDen tied the ribbon back onto her head.

Although the girl’s body had become a machine.

Although she could never return to her former life.

    [Lize: …Thank you.]

    She smiled.

With a bright smile, as if it would never happen again.

    [Lize: And I’m sorry…]

    [Lize: Because of my selfishness…]

[Lize: I thought life would be better if I got citizenship…]

EDen said nothing to the weeping girl.

Instead, he carried her on his back and slowly began to walk.

The place he headed was a narrow path leading above the 5th floor.

EDen continued to walk upwards, carrying Lize, and Lize continued to weep, apologizing to him.

A new world above the 5th floor.

Bright light shining in from outside the ‘Tower’.

The shadows of the two people were dyed white in that bright light.

    [EDen]

    And so, the game ended.

    “So it ends like this.”

“Still, it’s good that it’s a happy ending, isn’t it?”

“I don’t know. Did Lize really go back to normal?”

“That, this one doesn’t know. The setting book doesn’t describe the story after this part…”

“No, more importantly, why did that b*tch Lize even come into the tower in the first place? Abandon EDen? She abandoned EDen and came in by herself?”

    “Th-that is…”

    -Hahaha

    -Yuki suddenly exploding

-My mom acts like that when she watches melodramas

    -FR lol

-But honestly, Lize is a b*tch

    -Abandon EDen? Abandon your team?

    [[BigHotPretzel] donated 10,000 won!]

-Honestly, that part is pretty controversial, yeah.

I remember seeing a post somewhere saying that the EDen story was controversial, and it must have been about that.

Well, what does it matter anyway?

I don’t care about the story when I play games.

“Well, anyway, I guess we have to end today’s stream here.”

While Rin was excitedly beating up the boss, the time to end the stream had long since passed.

The stream, which was originally planned for about 2 hours, had been going on for over 4 hours, almost close to 5.

My stamina wouldn’t allow me to continue the stream any longer.

“So the EDen stream ends like this…”

    “Why. Are you sad?”

“Of course, this one is sad. This one wants to play more games like this with Yuki-gong…”

    “I don’t want to.”

“Eeeh? You don’t want to play games with this one?”

“Well, Rin, you’re too good at games. It makes my gaming skills look pathetic.”

    -FR lol

    -Rin-sama’s gaming is too good

    -Hahahaha

-Honestly, Yuki isn’t bad either, but next to Rin…

-Rin-sama, a veteran player again today.

Whenever I play games next to Rin, I feel like my skills get downgraded by double.

Still, I’m at least average in Lunaverse KR…

I mean, I’m much better at games than Miho and Akari senpai.

But it can’t be helped that I look bad when compared to Rin.

“Well, there’s also the reason that other games are piling up.”

    “Hing… Collabing with Yuki-gong was fun…”

“Let’s collab again when we get the chance. Then, we’ll end today’s stream here.”

    “Understood.”

    “Then everyone, today too, Yuki-gen~”

“Otsu-Ki~!! Have a good night today too!!”

    -Yukigen~

    -G’night

    -Otsu-Ki!!

    -YKG

    -Yukigen

    -Otsu-Ki

    -Yukigenyo today too!

    [Stream Ended]

And so, with the final farewells.

The long, long EDen stream finally came to a complete end.
