    Chapter 60.2

    Chapter 60 (Continued)

Turning to look at Baek-seo with suspicion, I saw her usual gentle smile.

“We’re in the Disciplinary Committee, aren’t we? I won’t date anyone while you’re the Leader.”

Her answer held a double meaning.

    “…I see.”

I responded as a fellow Disciplinary Committee member.

    “That’s reassuring to hear.”

    I felt relieved.

Imagining Baek-seo with a boyfriend had twisted my insides.

Narrowing my eyes, I looked at Baek-seo.

Since she said it was a prank without a heads-up, I still had to scold her as the Leader.

“And don’t do that again. I’m a man too.”

Embarrassment made me almost stutter. In the end, my tone was calm rather than scolding.
Given the odd feeling, I couldn’t even get angry.

“Okay…. I’m sorry. Can you forgive me?”

    Baek-seo’s eyebrows lowered.

A solemn smile spread across her face.

She seemed genuinely sorry. It made sense. She had used her beauty to create a situation that had made my heart race uncontrollably.

Of course, I should apologize too.

“…I’m sorry too. I didn’t handle it well. I’ll be more careful next time.”

    “You don’t need to apologize….”

Baek-seo didn’t finish her sentence and chuckled.

I couldn’t bear to look at her face any longer, so I quickly turned my head forward.

    “Okay.”

Baek-seo responded with a laugh in her voice.

“I’ll be more careful next time too.”

    “Good.”

    “By the way….”’

    “Yes?”

    “Never mind.”

    ***

“I’m sorry, Leader!! I was just worried about the relationship between you and Baek-seo!!”

    “We committed a grave sin!!”

Ha Yesong and Park Minhyuk were on their knees, begging for forgiveness.
Meanwhile, Yoo Doha crossed her arms, looking at them with disdain.

“…It’s fine. At least we’re all together now.”

I sighed and sat on Yesong’s back, crossing my legs.

    “Leader, you’re heavy…. This is school violence….”

“Park Minhyuk, Yoo Doha. Who’s the main culprit?”

Minhyuk and Doha pointed at Yesong.

“You cowards!! Do you have no sense of camaraderie!?”

    Yesong wailed.

“That’s enough. You two, go prepare a late-night snack.”

Minhyuk stood up and saluted, saying, “Yes, sir!” while Doha asked, “What do you want?”

“You make cold buckwheat noodles with whelk.”

    “Right away.”

    Doha’s mouth watered.

She loves noodles. A cool bowl of whelk noodles on a summer night would calm her down.

    “Ugh…. Leader, what should I do…?”

“You stay put, as the main culprit.”

    Yesong groaned.

    “Heee…. Baek-seo, help me…!”

    “Hang in there.”

    Baek-seo’s smile was firm.

“The night is long. Since we’re all here, let’s start a proper executive retreat.”

    The executives all responded positively.

That night, we played games reminiscent of college drinking games from my previous life.

We took lots of pictures, vented our feelings, and shared funny stories.

I tried to maintain my image and refrain from laughing, but I couldn’t help but smile occasionally. Every

time that happened, Yesong reacted excessively in retaliation.

    It was quite fun.

The forest at night is pitch-black.

Thus, the orange lights filling the campsite stood out more brilliantly.

Kim Dalbi couldn’t stand in the light. The current relationship between her and Ahn Woo-jin was like the contrast between the illuminated campsite and the dark forest.

She could only watch Woo-jin’s daily life from the shadows, leaning against a tree.

    “……”

Dalbi had seen the time Woo-jin and Oh Baek-seo spent alone.

Whether they were aware or not, the two already had affectionate feelings for each other.

To Dalbi, it was a dazzling sight.

She couldn’t tell if the sensation of being pricked in the heart was from loss or jealousy.

All she could do was watch their happiness.

She heard the noisy chatter of the Ahsung High School Disciplinary Committee executives from the log cabin. She couldn’t make out what they were saying, but it didn’t matter.

“Leader, you laughed!? You laughed!? Wow! Park Minhyuk, take a picture!! This is a chance to capture the Leader’s disheveled look!!”

A female student’s loud voice came through clearly. They seemed to be having fun.

Dalbi imagined Woo-jin’s smiling face as she looked at the moon rising between the trees. The smile she remembered was from their childhood.

    It was a lovely smile.

    “Today seems fine.”

Dalbi whispered quietly and walked deeper into the forest.

    ***

    Late at night.

    “Cough…!”

Head Principal Lee Doo-hee covered her mouth, repeatedly coughing with phlegm.

    She looked at her hand.

    Blood was splattered.

    “Shall I call a doctor?”

A female student wearing a nun’s habit over her uniform, Spartoi Son Ye-seo, asked with a bright smile.

    “What day is it… today?”

    “Today is….”

    “No, don’t tell me. I’ll remember….”

Her diseased brain often lost grip on the memories it held.

“Enough…. Put me in the wheelchair.”

    “Yes.”

Ye-seo helped Doo-hee into the wheelchair.

Buzzzz. The wheelchair made a mechanical sound as it moved and stopped in front of the glass wall.

Doo-hee looked out at the view of Neo Seoul and quietly exhaled.

She had an IV in her arm.

Already frail, even breathing was difficult for her.

For a while, Doo-hee organized her thoughts.

After a moment of struggling breaths through her dry lips, she slowly began to speak.

“The more I think about it, the stranger it seems….”

    “What do you mean?”

    Ye-seo responded from behind her.

“Kim Dalbi, Oh Baek-seo, and… ‘that child’ are all intertwined with one boy.”

    Ye-seo clapped her hands lightly.

“You mean the Ahsung High School Disciplinary Committee Leader?”

“Indeed…. All of them are growling over Ahn Woo-jin. Do you think this is a coincidence?”

“He must be a man with many sins. He’s quite handsome, though.”

    Ye-seo answered nonchalantly.

“By the way, do you know this is the fifth time you’ve said that?”

    “…Indeed.”

Doo-hee stopped talking and took a deep breath.

Looking out at Neo Seoul helped her organize her thoughts.

    “Bring Ahn Woo-jin to me.”

    “Pardon?”

Ye-seo was startled by the unexpected order.

“But we were told not to touch him by ‘the one.’ You’ll get in trouble.”

“Priorities have changed. Ahn Woo-jin… he’s extraordinary. Such feelings are rarely wrong.”

Doo-hee tapped the armrest of the wheelchair with her fingers.

“So, I need to confirm it.”

    Ye-seo nodded.

“Who should I send? There might be significant trouble with someone of his level.”

“There’s a suitable pawn for such occasions.”

    “Then I’ll pick one.”

“Exclude Kim Dalbi. She’ll only interfere.”

    “Yes.”

Kim Dalbi would undoubtedly protect Ahn Woo-jin.

    “I don’t have much time left….”

Doo-hee looked up at the ceiling, then closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

“I must do what I can before I go. Understanding Ahn Woo-jin is part of that.”

    “I understand.”

    The night deepened.
