Chapter 57: Field Trip
by AfuhfuihgsField Trip
Two weeks passed in an instant.
After removing the demon parasites that I had forgotten to remove from Arin and Kana, every day was a routine that didn’t differ much.
I would wake up early every morning to prepare meals at the temple, and after meal preparation was finished, on weekdays I would go to the academy for classes, and on weekends I would send out Isolde and Morgan to search for magic that demons might have set up.
More precisely, magic planted by demons for the large-scale magic circles I mentioned before.
Finding magic was a specialty of Isolde and Morgan, who were demons themselves, so every weekend I asked them to find magic and handed over their original weapons, and of course, they gladly accepted, being able to use their original weapons.
However, since returning their weapons imbued with magic greatly increased the risk, and it would be troublesome if other people caught them, I didn’t forget to set safety measures before sending them out.
And of course, I wasn’t just playing around with Mu while sending those two out.
I also trained in my own way during spare time to get used to the avatar bodies, and I trained the representative characters like Arin, Kana, Riana, Shati, Pina, and others who requested supplementary lessons from me.
Additionally, I spent time making buff foods to send to all the representative characters, so I could say I used my time diligently by splitting it up.
As a result of the supplementary lessons I gave, Arin, Kana, and Riana, who couldn’t even grasp the feel of Nullification two weeks ago, mastered it to the point where their success rate was about 50%, and Shati and Pina became able to use silent casting magic that almost perfectly realized their imagination.
On top of that, although I could only send out Morgan and Isolde four times in total, twice each weekend for 2 weeks, they returned to me with excellent results.
Actually, given the limited time, I thought it would be enough if they found just three or four approximate locations, but the two of them found and marked on the map more than half of the magic that Idea and the demons had scattered in the human realm.
Thanks to that, the problem of the large-scale annihilation magic circles that would have been a great threat in the future was also solved, and I trained the students as much as I could.
And now, after such a fruitful two weeks had passed.
At the academy, all first-year students and faculty were gathered together, preparing for the field trip to the underwater kingdom.
The day of the field trip dawned at the academy.
The main sports field where the first-year students and professors going on today’s field trip were gathered was so chaotic that one could hardly keep their wits about them, busy with activity.
“Is the student headcount finished?”
“Yes, it’s all done!”
“Good, then check the professor headcount next!”
Those separately checking the headcount of students and professors.
“I told you to match the magic infusion level!”
“I am matching it! Your side must be off!”
“Both of you stop fighting and just focus properly!!!”
The magic professor opening the huge gate leading to the underwater kingdom.
“We’re just going for one day today, right?”
“Yeah, I think that was it?”
“That’s a shame… It would have been nice if it was an overnight trip…”
Students gathered and chattering among the busy moving professors.
There were also students running around playing pranks in between, and professors arguing due to disagreements like just now, so the current main sports field was truly a sight appropriate to describe as a chaotic mess.
And seeing this main sports field that had become such a chaotic mess, I, Mu, Isolde, and Morgan, who had just arrived at the academy, couldn’t help but make disgusted expressions.
“This is the worst.”
“It’s so crowded…”
“It wouldn’t be strange to get crushed to death if we went in there.”
“I feel somewhat reluctant to go in there.”
The four of us, without exception, uttered negative words.
For reference, I was currently using Aria’s avatar as usual, and Mu was in Meiyel’s form.
And since I was asked to have all four of my avatars, excluding Yeonhwa who had entered as a new professor, attend this field trip, the duplicates of Yujia and Kama controlled by Mu were also standing beside us.
I stood with a total of five people including the duplicates beside me, looking at the scene of the main sports field with a disgusted expression.
I’m worried if we’ll be able to move properly if we go in there.
No, moving would obviously be easy, but my feeling was that I didn’t want to go into such a chaotic mess.
To use an analogy, it was like discovering a child peeing in a water park.
At the sight that seemed certain to meet with misfortune if we went in, I stopped outside the main sports field, and then some of the students at the edge of the field suddenly turned to look at me and started whispering in surprise.
“Hey hey, look over there! I’ve never seen those professors gathered together before…”
“Wow, me neither. This is really the first time I’ve seen this…?”
“My goodness, to see those four gathered together…”
Students whispering with faces that looked like they had seen something unbelievable beyond surprise. They seemed to be whispering thinking it wouldn’t be heard, but I could hear them perfectly well.
…Is it so amazing to see my avatars gathered like this?
I tilted my head at the students’ whispering that I couldn’t understand, but thinking about it, I realized that except for joint classes, I had never shown them gathered privately in front of the extra students, so I understood.
Then it certainly would be amazing.
While understanding like that, I overlooked the students’ whispering, but when I regained my senses that had drifted for a moment, I was still troubled by the unsolved problem.
“The question is how to get in there.”
Of course, I could just sit outside like those other professors sitting outside without going in, but it was a problem because there was a reason I had to go in.
“Dean Mira said to come see her as soon as we arrive, but… I don’t see any way to get there.”
What Mira told me yesterday, the day before the field trip. She said to come see her with my siblings as soon as we arrived.
I looked around the outside as soon as we arrived at the academy, but Mira was nowhere to be seen. This meant Mira was in this crowd.
In other words, it meant I had to wade through this crowd to find Mira after all.
So when I was steeling myself and about to slowly move towards the inside of the main sports field, a completely unexpected answer came from beside me.
“Hey, I don’t like going into this crowd either, so how about we fly? I see quite a few students flying when I look at the other human students.”
“…I didn’t think of that method.”
The one who spoke up was none other than Isolde.
She waved her staff at me as she asked, and my eyes sparkled at this new method I hadn’t thought of.
Because I was always in Aria’s body and Mu in Meiyel’s body, I had forgotten, but thinking about it, this colorful world had an excellent means called flight magic.
And at my face showing I hadn’t thought of it at all, Isolde narrowed her eyes as if looking down on me and held up her staff.
“Shall we fly then?”
“Yes, that would be good.”
As Isolde deployed flight magic, Mu beside her wiggled her hand as if she was about to do it herself, but unfortunately, Isolde’s magic unfolded faster than Mu could say anything.
“『Rise』.”
As Isolde chanted the magic briefly, our bodies all rose at once.
If we were the only ones flying in the sky, we would have attracted a tremendous amount of attention, but fortunately, there were several other students who had taken to the air due to the discomfort of the narrow crowd, so we didn’t particularly draw attention.
Thanks to that, we were able to comfortably rise into the air without any problems.
“I see her over there.”
“Ah, you’re right.”
As we rose into the air, unlike earlier when we were stuck to the ground, we could see Mira standing where the huge gate was being opened, beyond the hundreds of students.
Moreover, we could also see other familiar representative character students standing beside her.
When I pointed in that direction, Isolde nodded with a short sound, and then as she flicked her staff, our bodies that had risen began to fly towards where Mira was.
“I wanted to do that…”
“Don’t be too disheartened, Mu. I’ll rely on you more when we get to the field trip anyway.”
“Ah… Yes! Mother!”
And until we reached Mira, I had to console Mu, who was upset at having the chance to be helpful to me taken away.
It really feels like I’m raising a real daughter at times like this.
