Chapter 54: Succubus Queen (2)
by Afuhfuihgs
Everyone has a brilliant screenwriter living inside their head.
The screenwriter living in my head right now was rapidly deducing the identity of this woman I was seeing for the first time. A black coat covering her entire body and a dress that looked like it was meant for a banquet. Sharp teeth revealed between her smiling lips. Purple hair and violet eyes.
Her hair was beautifully braided down, giving her the air of a woman from the entertainment district.
Her relaxed demeanor, covering her lips as she chuckled, and the bright red sky visible beyond her back.
Just who could she be?
Who exactly was this woman who boldly intruded upon this secret hideout known only to Sophia, myself, and a select few?
Sophia was trembling, but she held me tightly as if to protect me, staring at the woman. I was just rolling my eyes, unsure of what to do.
“Milia-nim.”
Behind the woman, a muscular woman with deep brown skin and blonde hair revealed herself. She wore a revealing outfit that showcased her defined abs, looking down at us with cold eyes.
“What should we do?”
There was no escaping this woman either. Her knuckle-gloved hands had bulging forearms; it felt like she could kill me with just a flick to the forehead.
“Wait.”
Milia blocked her with her arm, the woman who was looking down at me coldly as if she could kill me right then and there. Milia took a drag from the pipe she held in her other hand and exhaled white smoke. Then, she chuckled and said this.
“We have to talk.”
The woman called Milia concealed her ample breasts with a luxurious coat. Milia, who had been looking at us while lightly licking her red lips, shifted her gaze to Sophia.
“Sophia. Do you think I wouldn’t have considered even the slightest possibility when entrusting you with such an important task? Walking around reeking of other demons and suddenly saying you’re calling off the operation… that’s just too obvious, isn’t it?”
The smell.
The smell seemed to be the problem. Sensing the scent that clung to Sophia after becoming my servant, Milia had realized Sophia’s betrayal. Milia said,
“I don’t know what possessed you to suddenly stop when things were going so well… Sophia. I really cared about you, you know? Betraying me like this hurts my heart.”
Sophia wordlessly shook her head and clung to me tighter. I couldn’t even breathe under the killing intent Milia exuded. Just by stepping into this space, she dominated everything. I felt like an ant facing a giant, holding my breath and crouching down as much as possible.
“And you…”
The instinctive actions I took to erase my presence only dredged up the humiliation and unpleasant memories hidden deep within my body. Memories of rubbing my face on the floor to avoid getting hit. Milia scanned me with a condescending gaze.
She was a sexy woman, her dark eye makeup and prominent eyelashes fluttering.
“You…”
Milia looked me over, then suddenly reached out. Sophia lunged to stop her, but before she could even touch Milia, the blonde beside her grabbed Sophia’s arm and threw her onto the bed. Sophia, slammed onto the bed, trembled but tried to crawl towards me again.
“Stay still. Sophia.”
Only after the blonde woman warned her in a low voice and stepped on her back did Sophia stop resisting. My chin was held in Milia’s hand. A faint scent of tobacco mixed with floral fragrance emanated from her.
Milia, scanning me back and forth with half-lidded, languid eyes, looked me up and down as if discarding trash and said,
“An Incubus. An Incubus. They’re quite rare. Usually, when an Incubus is born in a human village, they end up getting hanged after raping the village women.”
I remained defiant even to her monologue. Because I had never raped anyone. I had consensual relations with all women. Milia looked down at me with a strange smile.
“Especially an Incubus who has grown enough to take a demon as a servant is truly rare… What should we do?”
Milia frowned and looked at the blonde succubus. The blonde succubus seemed flustered by Milia’s gaze, avoiding her eyes and saying in a small voice,
“I-I don’t know. You can do as you please.”
Milia seemed very disappointed by Kelly’s statement. She scowled, letting her pipe hang down, and said,
“‘Do as you please’… Kelly. You’re always like this, aren’t you? You should seize the opportunities I give you. That’s how you’ll improve your standing, won’t you? Huh? Are you going to live your whole life beating up underlings for me?”
Kelly composed her flustered expression, nodded calmly, and said to Milia,
“That’s enough for me.”
“Haa…”
Milia shook her head as if frustrated. Then she looked back at Sophia and said,
“So, I thought it was such a relief when a smart and good kid like you came along after so long. Sophia. What is this situation? What happened to the scroll I gave you? You got caught by someone like this?”
Sophia carefully stammered her reply.
“Well… I-I challenged them to a sex battle…”
“Ah… Is that so?”
Milia looked back at me. Her dress was slit at the side, exposing her thighs completely. As my gaze drifted to her thighs, she snorted and hiked her skirt up slightly further at the side, saying,
“So, which faction do you belong to? Why did you come all the way to the academy I’ve been eyeing?”
Milia was smiling. But despite her smile, she didn’t seem like she was joking. She was merely enjoying the spectacle.
It was like catching an ant and tormenting it by tearing off its legs one by one. As if finding the ant’s reaction amusing with its mandibles moving up and down, she’d tear off its antennae, legs, and finally its abdomen. She was observing my reactions before separating my bones and flesh.
I desperately racked my brain.
What should I say here?
What on earth should I say here to please her and survive?
There was no right answer anyway. No matter what I said, if Milia didn’t like it, I’d either die on the spot or become Milia’s servant.
How should I speak to get out of here with all my limbs intact?
“Um, can you not speak?”
What on earth should I say? I need to think. I have to come up with an answer somehow.
“Hey. I’m asking you…”
“I-I came to propose to Milia-nim!”
Incubi are rare. While she would have killed any other demon instantly, Milia gave me a chance considering the rarity of an Incubus. I bowed my head to the floor, kneeling in the most demure posture possible.
Sophia stared at me with a bewildered expression. A strange silence fell upon the room, which had been filled with tension moments before.
Lying flat on the floor, I waited for the laughter that would surely follow. I was acting the fool right now. The absurd story of a pathetic demon wanting to propose out of admiration for Milia’s fame.
“…..To me?”
But what returned was a peculiar question. With a nuance that was neither angry nor amused, I wanted to lift my head, but instead, I pressed my forehead down as if trying to burrow into the carpet and said,
“Well… Hearing about Milia-nim’s beauty, which is widely known even in the human world…! I thought I wanted to become a man worthy of Milia-nim… That’s why I’ve been gathering power like this!”
“Ah, is, is that so?”
She seemed pleased at the mention of her reputation spreading in the human world. However, Kelly, standing beside her, asked sternly,
“Then why did you make Sophia your servant? Didn’t you know which demon she was?”
“To propose, one must have equal standing…! That’s why I couldn’t meekly become Sophia’s servant! I apologize!”
“Standing… equal…”
Milia was repeating my words. Kelly continued to press with a stern voice.
“Then why did you try to interfere with our plan?”
“I didn’t intend to disrupt the neutralization plan! It’s just that I wanted to become a more impressive demon before meeting you later… driven by that desire… I unilaterally postponed the plan slightly…”
“…Ah, uh, stop…”
Hearing that voice, I reflexively lifted my head. Even though I knew I shouldn’t lift my head, I couldn’t help it at her pained voice. Succubus Queen Milia wore a bewildered expression, covering her mouth with one hand. Her face turned sideways, her ears flushed red.
“S-stop… Ah, I get it, okay. You can stop…”
Milia nodded and hastily stopped me. Then, clearing her throat, she gestured to Kelly. Kelly, seeing her signal to retreat, asked with a flustered face,
“We’re just leaving?”
Milia darted her eyes around and answered awkwardly.
“…No, well… He said he meant no harm, didn’t he?”
“Milia-nim?”
Milia, her face flushed red in a way that anyone could see was unusual, stammered before abruptly ending the conversation with a burst of anger.
“Kelly! Why are you voicing your opinion at a time like this? I said let’s just go!”
“Still, dealing with this demon…”
Milia looked at me again. She blushed, then reached out towards me. A purple light spread widely.
“Waaak!”
“…Let’s talk again later. I can’t use much power here right now.”
Milia said that and disappeared towards a portal. I rubbed my eyes, sensing the faint purple afterimage before me.
Kelly glanced down at me with displeasure before disappearing, saying,
“…I’ll be watching.”
