Chapter 51: What William is After 2
by AfuhfuihgsWhat William is After 2
‘What does Lord Theodore think about this?’
Yuria looked at Theodore, wondering what he was thinking.
Being the Chosen One seemed like a position of glory, but no matter how she thought about it, Yuria saw it as a position bearing the enormous burden of having to protect the world.
But this country seemed to have forgotten about the danger of the apocalypse and was filled with thoughts of only using the Chosen One.
Yuria was curious about how Theodore thought about this issue, but she didn’t ask.
Thinking that there would be a day when he would tell her on his own, she decided to wait for him to speak first.
“Lord Theodore. It’s nice to see you.”
At that moment, Louise, the Imperial Princess of the Britannia Empire, was seen approaching with a picture-perfect smile.
As she approached, Yuria unconsciously took a step closer to Theodore’s side.
‘That woman is coming with dark intentions again.’
Wariness was rising greatly within Yuria.
She felt hostility towards her rising from within, knowing no bounds.
“But if Theodore is really Theodore, and he’s the Chosen One, what happens to our country?”
“It means we’ve lost the Chosen One to another country, which is a really big deal.”
“Ah, then the benefits our Britannia Empire has been seeing will collapse, what should we do?”
“I’m worried too. Sigh.”
Theodore inwardly mocked the shortsightedness of those speaking.
‘As expected, they’re myopic. They only know how to look at what’s close, so they don’t understand what’s really important in the end.’
This was the perspective of the students of Minst Academy, where the talents of the Britannia Empire were gathered.
In fact, this problem occurred more easily because they were students of Minst Academy.
They had witnessed the actions of William, known as the Chosen One, as a complete ruffian from a close distance.
They could become victims of his violence if they went against his mood, and they also saw how he lived a promiscuous life with numerous female students.
‘Because of that, common sense itself has become a mess.’
The country had problems, focusing only on immediate benefits while maintaining diplomatic superiority over the other two empires by having the Chosen One.
But such a vision blinded by greed had spread like sharing a poisoned apple.
At the very least, if William had emphasized responsibility and shown a struggling appearance, there might have been more people who thought differently.
However, what William showed was using the position of the Chosen One as power and running wild with an arrogant attitude, so no one thought about the obligations that the Chosen One must bear.
No, it would be correct to say they deliberately turned a blind eye.
They abandoned everything with just the belief that he was the Chosen One of the prophecy and would somehow manage.
‘If William had been the Chosen One, it would have been nothing but destruction.’
Theodore was gradually sensing what the apocalyptic danger approaching this world was.
As the Chosen One chosen to protect this world from this world, he possessed numerous powers besides the power to slow down time to 1/1000 as he had shown Yuria and the power to move by folding space.
However, with all those powers, he had the obligation to protect the world in the future.
[I don’t care if a world like this disappears.]
A familiar voice momentarily flashed in Theodore’s mind.
The voice of a young boy filled with evil and hatred…
The image of a young boy in beggar-like appearance, glaring hatefully at the world itself, wandering without finding a place to direct his resentment, followed.
But Theodore quickly set aside that thought and threw it into the middle of that memory.
‘Unfortunately, the current me has reasons to protect this world.’
People had appeared whom he had to protect even at the cost of his life.
Those people wouldn’t want him to sacrifice his life, but he felt the same.
He wanted to protect the world because he didn’t want them to die.
He wanted it.
That was all.
“Lord Theodore. It’s nice to see you.”
As lunch time was ending, he saw Imperial Princess Louise approaching him with a picture-perfect smile.
Seeing Yuria taking a step closer to his side with a vigilant expression, Theodore almost took her hand but stopped.
“What brings you here?”
“Oh my, you don’t need to be so formal. Even though I’m an Imperial Princess here, we’re classmates, right? You can treat me more comfortably.”
Louise said with a bright smile, but Theodore guessed her intentions and responded with his own false mask of a smile.
“I understand.”
“Actually, I wanted to meet and talk during lunch time… but you weren’t there.”
Theodore glanced at Yuria, who was coming even closer to him.
- Play along for a moment.
After sending that message into her mind with his qi, he lightly put his arm around her shoulder.
“!”
Yuria’s expression showed slight embarrassment and surprise as her eyes widened, but she quickly calmed her expression and quietly leaned her body against him.
Moreover, she looked somewhat relieved.
“I had to prepare a meal for my beloved fiancée.”
At this provocation from Theodore, Louise’s expression almost subtly distorted.
She was approaching him, believing he might be the Chosen One, and would not hesitate to deploy her beauty as an Imperial Princess if necessary.
But the fact that he already had a fiancée, and that fiancée was the owner of a beauty of a different level, called the foremost beauty of the Arcan Empire, was becoming a wall for her.
‘It’s not like I prepared it with any particular purpose.’
The problem was just that Yuria Arsein had come in and broken down the wall of his defenses.
Thanks to that, he ended up voluntarily preparing lunch for her, which he wouldn’t have even thought of originally.
“With your fiancée… it seems you have a really good relationship with Lady Yuria?”
As Louise asked with a smile, forcibly suppressing her trembling voice, Theodore nodded.
“I’ve sworn to protect her with my life.”
Of course, that oath was made out of obligation before he gave affection to Yuria.
But to listeners, it would sound completely different.
‘I didn’t make a separate oath, but it’s not a lie.’
Theodore found the sensation of his hand on Yuria’s shoulder curious.
As he had felt when embracing her, the sensation of her feminine body seemed quite soft.
Her scent was good, soft, and contradictory in how it strangely stimulated and shook his mind and body while making him feel peaceful.
All of this would be the effect of his changed perspective towards her.
“Hmm.”
Louise seemed uncomfortable.
No matter how beautiful she was, Yuria was the foremost beauty of the Arcan Empire, and as there was no beauty in the Britannia Empire comparable to Yuria, her beauty would be the finest throughout both countries.
She was too formidable an opponent to face with a woman’s charm.
“Actually, I have something urgent to tell you.”
With that, Louise seemed to change her approach.
Rather than trying to seduce him with her beauty first, she appeared to be planning to build a relationship by conveying important information.
“Is that so?”
“Yes. William just requested the official declaration of Theodore Artin’s death, so House Artin has officially declared Theodore Artin as deceased.”
The confirmation of Theodore Artin’s death.
What this meant was that even if Theodore Artin appeared in the future, he would not be officially recognized.
Even if the real Theodore Artin revealed his identity, he would be treated as a fake.
That’s what it meant for a family to declare someone deceased.
That was exactly what William was after.
‘The Duchess Artin must have objected.’
Ceres would probably have objected, but it seemed Duke Artin had reluctantly complied.
More precisely, William probably caused such a huge disturbance that they couldn’t help but comply.
It was obvious without seeing that he had crossed lines recklessly to make this happen.
It was a desperate measure to protect his position as the Chosen One, but he had no other choice.
After all, he was just a fake.
“But why are you telling me this?”
Theodore answered without any hesitation, as if this story had nothing to do with him.
However, Louise seemed even more convinced of Theodore’s identity.
It was clear she had reached the conclusion that for William to take such excessive action, there must be a prerequisite that he felt threatened by Theodore Artin’s existence.
“I’ll explain that later. Well then, Lord Theodore, Lady Yuria. I hope you both have productive classes.”
And she deliberately slipped away without saying everything in this meeting, in order to maintain the relationship further.
‘Things will progress quickly now.’
It seemed that his old identity would be widely revealed soon.
Theodore thought this as he temporarily removed his hand from Yuria’s shoulder.
“Haa.”
He felt Yuria’s left hand grasping his right hand as it was lowered.
