Chapter 47: Demon King Girl (7)

Demon King Girl (7)
“Foolish.”
“Hey, are you thinking the same thing as me?”
“Kuh, to true predators, the rules of insignificant beings are of no importance.”
Mamut and I managed to agree on this thought.
Of course, no one in this land can control me. It’s not just my problem alone.
Ignoring the voices of those who were ranting like they were having a fit, I continued my fight with Mamut.
I’m not just some powerful mysterious person who unnecessarily causes a big commotion. Moreover, even the great Demon King is now trapped inside the body of a magical girl, whose maximum rank is only SSS.
As it had been until now, it was impossible to overwhelm with overwhelming force in one go.
“Kuhahah!”
The tentacle of the mammoth, which seemed harder than any divine sword, stretched over tens of meters and whipped around, literally splitting a building it hit in half.
Now completely transformed into an octopus-like form, it seemed confident in its tentacle play.
Then the original tentacle creature can’t lose. I not only wielded the steel thorn whip in my hand but also transformed my shadow to shoot out hundreds of tentacles.
I can say with certainty that I’ve never drawn this much power since becoming a magical girl.
“What an excellent movement.”
“Thanks for the compliment. You’re not bad with tentacles yourself.”
It managed to block my attacks while sustaining injuries.
As my fighting instinct awakened, I somehow started to enjoy it more. Who would have thought I could feel this way on Earth.
“Die by being pierced through!”
The mammoth’s growling tentacles broke through my shadows and rushed towards me. This is not a bluff, but a force that can really pierce my body right now.
Since I prefer to be the one doing the tentacle play rather than receiving it, I threw my body backward to avoid its attack.
Seemingly annoyed that I dodged, it violently writhed its body, opened its large mouth wide, and shot a concentrated beam at me.
I can’t dodge this. I hurriedly drew up power to defend against the attack.
“A-Are you okay!?”
“Shut up.”
In the thick dust. I grabbed Ren’s head as he was making a fuss next to me and threw him.
Where I was embedded was on top of a half-destroyed building with the sky clearly visible. I clicked my tongue and got up from this dust hole. My dirtied body ached. The mammoth’s power was enough to inflict damage on this body.
“This is indeed fun.”
Of course, I never thought I would lose. It was just a matter of time. Now that I’ve barely caught the tail, I have no intention of letting it go.
“This is…”
“Now, shall we take a proper look?”
With a cracking sound, I twisted my body and moved the shadow. A space that only I could enter, where no one else would dare to intrude.
The widely spread, rippling shadow began to rise into the air and envelop the area. Only when it covered the sky, forming a dome-like shape, could we be completely isolated from the outside.
“What an interesting trick.”
“I have to set up something like this so I don’t have to worry about being noticed.”
I grinned and my eyes flashed. Now, here in this place.
Perhaps I could unleash the Demon King’s power for just a moment?
“Shall I show you what a real monster is, kid?”
Although this delicate girl’s body was created by Yggdrasil’s power, it was possible to transform and twist it to its limits.
The power I had been suppressing in the form of clothes and decorations was now fully unleashed. And this power was too much for a normal body to handle.
Large horns grew on my head, and from my back, wings covered in black membrane tore through my skin and spread out.
Too much magical power was being released, creating a separate space to store it.
“What… what on earth are you?”
“I’m not a Magical Girl. Should we call me a Demon King Girl instead?”
I gathered the power that was causing the area to shake, slowly making it swirl around.
The Mammoth, looking up at me, resisted by swinging its tentacles, but it was like cutting water with a knife. It would be swept away by this power and torn to shreds.
“How, how dare you…!!”
“What? Is that all you have to say for your last words?”
The swirling force became a vortex and engulfed the Mammoth. The dense magical power turned into countless microscopic blades, inflicting wounds on its sturdy body and finally drawing blood.
The vortex gradually darkened with its blood.
And when the vortex finally subsided, I relaxed my power and looked at the now empty ground. For what had been an entertaining exchange, it was quite an anticlimactic exit.
“This, this can’t be… You really defeated a Mammoth single-handedly? This is impossible!”
“Don’t you trust your own eyes?”
Still inside this dome of shadows I was maintaining, I broke off the horns on my head with a cracking sound.
These lumps of magical power soon turned to dust with a hissing sound and returned to my body.
“But this is impossible. The Mammoth is an SS-class disaster!”
“There’s a level above that, you know.”
“SSS? SSS-class Magical Girls are half myth. They’re said to have potential and power they can’t even control themselves, like ticking time bombs that could go berserk at any moment. That’s why most of them have their memories sealed and live as ordinary people.”
“Really? Do I look like that to you?”
I smirked as I looked at Ren, who flinched and froze.
“No, you don’t.”
“Then what’s the problem? And while this incident with various complications was interesting, I have no intention of getting involved in such troublesome matters in the future. What if, following the cliché, stronger enemies keep coming? I still won’t get involved.”
“…Then this would be the birth of the strongest, essentially the first SSS-class in history…”
As the shadow dome slowly crumbled, Ren clicked his tongue and shook his head. Everyone’s attention was already focused on me, but their gazes became even more unsteady when I emerged alone.
“Hah. Let’s go back.”
At least there was no annoying nonsense. I adjusted my uniform cap and soared into the sky in one breath.
“Th-there will be enormous repercussions!”
“Really? But that’s been the case since I first appeared.”
I laughed at Ren’s words. It was something I had decided to accept to some extent anyway. Because I could always undo the transformation.
*
“You’ve turned the world upside down again.”
Early evening. Kim Su-jung, who was nibbling on food next to me, muttered while watching TV.
The breaking news that had been going on for hours since early dawn was still repeating the same story.
It was all about how I single-handedly dealt with the Mammoth yesterday.
“They’re calling you a true SSS-class.”
“How is that different from before? I was already famous.”
“No, this time it’s different.”
I tried to change the subject casually, but she shook her head.
“What’s different?”
“It’s not what I think, but what people think. They say that the existence of Magical Girls, who had been compromising with the local order to some extent, is now deviating from that order and making it useless.”
Kim Su-jung said with a serious face. Listening further, the conclusion was that the problem was that I had expanded my range of activities beyond Korea to foreign countries.
There had been an unspoken rule among Magical Girls. The rule not to operate outside one’s homeland.
I had now shattered that minimal order that had been compromised with ordinary people.
Indeed, no ruler would like a powerful outsider roaming freely in their country. People would also dislike superhumans like Magical Girls violating the order and laws they enjoy.
“It says here that countries around the world, centered on the UN, might regulate extensively. Though it’s uncertain if that’s possible given that you’re an unprecedentedly strong being who defies common sense.”
“How grand of them.”
I snorted. What could they possibly do by stepping up? As someone who has belonged to both sides, I can assert that they can never stop me.
“I think it’s good actually. Not everyone will dislike it, right? After all, you caught that terrible monster this time too.”
At that moment, Kim Su-jung glanced at me cautiously and carefully spoke. Her gaze clearly conveyed her meaning. She was asking if I, as Takilas, didn’t like myself.
“I like it too.”
“Yeah, isn’t that right?”
She smiled with relief upon hearing my answer. Of course, I couldn’t say I disliked myself.
In fact, that wasn’t really important to me right now.
“I told you, didn’t I? Once this job is over, I’m going on vacation.”
“I heard that, but what does that even mean? Are you saying you’re taking a break from activities? Where can you go with your current identity?”
“I can manage that on my own.”
While changing clothes to go to school, I took the opportunity when Kim Su-jung left to inform Ren. Ren seemed flustered, but my decision was already firm.
Of course, I wasn’t planning to run away from this facility.
I opened a dimensional door. It’s magic I learned from the fairies. Ignoring Ren, who stood there with his mouth agape, I summoned someone from that place.
“I came urgently at your call, Demon Lord… Aaaaah!! A human!!!”
“Shut up and stop talking nonsense. People outside can hear you!”
Startled, I stepped on the creature that was screaming in shock.
It was a bizarre life form that looked like it was made of sticky slime. Eyes, ears, and a mouth floating here and there in the slime were extremely grotesque.
“Oh… This power, you must be the Demon Lord who’s away. But what’s with this strange appearance?”
“Stop touching. I have a mission for you, Legion Commander Fleshia. Transform into my appearance right now.”
I lifted my foot from the slimy sensation that was slowly touching my feet. The slime wriggled and gradually began to take shape as it rose.
“I’ve done as you commanded for now.”
Soon, another me appeared before me. Legion Commander Fleshia was a doppelganger. A being that could become anything.
It flinched awkwardly while sniffing and touching its body. It felt strange seeing something identical to my body doing that.
