Chapter 446: Resonance (1)
by Afuhfuihgs
Destruction of the Demon.
It was Wi Seol-Ah’s power that gave the Central Plains hope, and ultimately, how she was able to slay the Heavenly Demon.
Back when Wi Seol-Ah fought against a Demonic Human for the first time, when I wasn’t even one at the time, her sword shone unusually bright when others started to fall after being affected by the enemy’s Demonic Qi.
She wasn’t affected by Demonic Qi, and it was actually pushed away by her sword instead.
How was that possible?
Perhaps that power came from the Moonlight Dance technique she learned?
People of the Central Plains questioned this, but the Sword Emperor said he wasn’t able to do what Wi Seol-Ah did with his own Qi.
This meant that this power was exclusive to Wi Seol-Ah.
Why was that the case?
The question arose, but people didn’t have the time to think for long.
The important part in the end was how her power was able to annihilate Demonic Qi.
Demonic Qi was a lethal weapon against martial artists, but a martial artist who could fight against such a weapon appeared.
It didn’t matter if they were young, a female, or even a Young Prodigy.
Because of this reason, it didn’t take a long time for Wi Seol-Ah to become the Central Plain’s hope.
Moreover, many people placed their hopes in her because she was unbelievably talented in martial arts.
Isn’t that ironic?
Just because they finally found a small hope they could rely on, they not only made her into a hero, but even gave her the burden of saving the world.
Damned bastards.
The story only made me feel angry.
However, I was able to understand where they came from.
Everyone who experienced Demonic Qi for themselves knew how nasty the energy was.
It was obvious for them to place their hopes in a person that was able to fight against such Qi.
I knew that myself, but I wasn’t able to relate to them.
It’s because I know what happens to people that was made to carry such burdens.
They would be buried along with their burden, and they would be slowly forgotten.
That was the reward they got for carrying the hopes of people.
Plus, you know what’s even worse?
People already know they would end up that way, but they place their hopes in them anyway.
They knew that she would eventually fall carrying all of those burden, but they had to pretend as if they didn’t notice because they wanted to live.
That was the nature of people.
I despised them.
Moreover, I resented her for carrying such a burden despite her obviously knowing it all.
It was the same this time.
Despite already knowing they would slowly eat her life away, the foolish swordswoman will keep her head high with sword in her hand.
I hated it so much that it drove me insane.
As silence continued,
Tap, Tap.
I started to hear a noise that broke my focus.
I turned my head toward where the noise came from.
It was the Demon Emperor tapping his armrest with his finger.
It was a habit of his whenever he thought deeply.
The air pressure became gradually heavier.
Qi poured out from the Demon Emperor, and it pressured his surroundings.
Even in this situation, the Demonic Humans endured the pain without letting a single groan out.
It was obvious that damned bastard wasn’t in a good mood.
To other Demonic Humans, it probably seemed like their Captain was thinking deeply to himself due to the unexpected ambush, but I knew what he was thinking.
He must have a lot on his mind.
That head of his was only filled with the Celestial Sword.
Rumble…
The Silent Fist spoke in the uncomfortable atmosphere.
“…Captain, please give us an order.”
The other Demonic Humans all knelt down after the Silent Fist spoke.
That included the Demonic Sword as well.
The enemies have come closer to our territory, and they were gathering their forces.
This means they are preparing for war.
I didn’t know its magnitude, but it was certain that the Murim Alliance was preparing for war.
Moreover, considering how both the Heavenly Venerable and the Celestial Sword were here,
…It definitely won’t be a small battle.
One thing that was fortunate was the fact that her Destruction of Demon power couldn’t cleanse Demonic Qi like my Destructive Flame Art.
Should I even be glad about that?
Should I be happy that she couldn’t cleanse Demonic Qi?
How ironic I was being.
I wonder.
What choice will you make in this situation?
I observed the bastard’s reaction as I kneeled down with the other Demonic Humans.
The best way to deal with this situation was to first, report it to the Heavenly Demon.
If she was informed that the Alliance was gathering forces and that the Heavenly Venerable appeared, then it was likely that she would either send reinforcements or make an appearance herself.
I didn’t know how strong the current Celestial Sword was, but at the very least, she wasn’t strong enough to fight against the Heavenly Demon.
Not even the Three Venerables combined could win against the Heavenly Demon after all.
I didn’t know if they truly intended for a war, but this was the fastest solution.
However.
You won’t do that.
The bastard named the Demon Emperor wasn’t going to make this decision.
I knew better than anyone.
Creak.
The Demon Emperor slowly stood up as the Demonic Humans remained kneeled.
Then, he spoke to the Silent Fist after coming down from his seat.
“…Silent Fist.”
“Yes, Captain.”
“Lead me to those bastards.”
At the same time that he spoke, all the Demonic Humans got up instantly.
The room was completely filled with their Combat Qi.
Everyone knew what the Demon Emperor meant by his words.
After seeing that, I made a bitter smile in my mind.
You retarded bastard.
It’s what I expected from you.
He acted just as I expected him to.
The bastard’s decision wasn’t going to change.
He will choose her until the end.
Whether that was in a past life, or this story.
The future you would do the same too.
You will always be an idiot.
He chose this path despite knowing that no one was going to acknowledge him in the end.
That was who I was.
What would I have chosen to do if the current me were in that situation?
I thought to myself as I watched the Demon Emperor walk outside.
I already knew what I would have done.
Probably.
I would’ve made the same choice as that dumb bastard.
Because I knew that, I couldn’t even curse him out.
That bastard was a retard, and I still was as well.
I just hoped.
I hoped that nothing else would change in this situation, as it was already hard to deal with.
The location that the Silent Fist reported was a village that was right outside the border that separated Sichuan from the outside.
It was hard to find that place as only a few people lived there and it was located deep in a mountain.
The Murim Alliance chose that location of all places to gather their forces. Perhaps they did it on purpose?
How strange.
I still remained curious as I increased my pace.
It may have been right outside of the Sichuan territory, but did they really think that Demonic Humans wouldn’t notice?
The Alliance may have been filled with dumbasses, but they weren’t that stupid.
They definitely had a plan.
He knows this himself, but he still chose to head straight towards it.
I thought to myself as I stared at the past me who led the group.
Was that bastard unaware?
Of course not.
He was well aware.
Despite knowing, he made the reckless decision to head towards the enemy.
Moreover.
Bringing this much force…
I glanced behind me.
There were a ton of Demonic Humans following from behind.
There were at least more than a hundred of them.
That meant that he was bringing Demonic Humans that were guarding the border as well.
Whenever I brought this much force with me…
I either planned to destroy the enemies,
Or to destroy our own forces. It was either one of the two.
After running for a long time, the Demon Emperor started to speak.
“Silent Fist.”
“Yes.”
When the Silent Fist gazed back, the Demon Emperor spoke as if he was waiting to.
“I’m going to go first, so bring our men there.”
“…Understood.”
It was originally the Demonic Sword’s job to lead the army as a Vice Captain, but the Silent Fist was made to do this task as the Demonic Sword would most likely get lost if she led the way.
Putting this aside, I couldn’t help but frown a little after hearing him.
He’s going first?
He must’ve been in a hurry for him to leave his army behind to go first.
What was this?
Why did he make such a dumb decision when he didn’t know what was waiting for him?
I really wasn’t fond of him.
Blaze.
Obviously not knowing how I felt, the Demon Emperor wrapped himself in flames.
Crash-!
After making an unbelievably explosive sound, he leaped forward.
He was so fast that he completely disappeared out of my sight after a couple of seconds.
Holy.
He increased his speed using an absurd amount of Qi.
If I were to try to do what he did, I would completely run out of Qi after an hour.
I was able to run all day long like that and still be perfectly fine back then.
Even though I insulted him for his reckless Qi usage, I felt the necessity to increase my Qi after seeing something like that.
Right after the Demon Emperor disappeared, the Silent Fist spoke to the Demonic Humans while hiding his confusion.
“We are almost at our destination. Prepare for battle.”
Demonic Humans’ Combat Qi started to rise after they heard the Silent Fist’s warning.
I slightly gulped nervously at the sight.
It was highly likely that the Silent Fist and obviously the Demon Emperor were still wary of me.
Even so, they brought me to this war, which made me think about how dire this situation was.
As Demonic Qi in the air started to resonate with each other after they left Demonic Humans’ bodies,
Slaaaam-!
“Ugh!”
The ground shook heavily as if a sudden earthquake had occurred.
Due to the sudden impact, everyone’s posture and balance were broken.
When I paused to see what was happening,
“That’s…”
Everyone looked in front after hearing the Silent Fist.
Hah…
I let out a laugh of doubt after seeing what happened.
He went there first, and that’s the first thing he does?
On what appeared to be the side of a mountain, a huge wave was made in the distance.
A black wave so overwhelmingly big that it seemed as if it was about to sweep the whole mountain.
A wave made with flames that rose all the way to the clouds.
I didn’t even have to wonder what that thing was.
They were all black flames.
The flame was so big in size and amount, it seemed as if a huge tsunami appeared.
