Chapter 4: The Legendary Weapon(?)
by fnovelpia
I taught Ria the basics of swordsmanship, magic, and life skills.
First, basic swordsmanship.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
I corrected her posture while watching her swing the sword.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
I showed her how to fight while sparring with wooden swords.
Ah.
By the way, I had deactivated the [Instant Kill] trait for the sparring session.
If that activated, one hit would either result in [Instant Death] or [Near Death].
I don’t like pain, and I definitely don’t want to die, so I made sure to deactivate it before starting.
Smack!
“Ah!”
Smack! Smack! Smack!
“Ah! Ugh! Ah!”
One hour into the swordsmanship lesson, I was knocked into [Near Death] by Ria.
Yep.
That means I was completely overpowered by her swordsmanship.
‘Wow…’
‘Her talent is insane.’
Although her [Crybaby] personality made her seem weak, Ria is a hero and the protagonist.
She’s strong enough to clear normal difficulty adventures alone without any companions.
That means, she could even defeat the Demon King one-on-one.
Without cheats.
Yeah.
At this point, she’s definitely a monster.
‘She’s a monster, sure, but…’
‘Isn’t it a bit much to completely crush the teacher just after one hour of swordsmanship training?’
“Are… are you okay?”
“I’m not okay.”
“I-I’m sorry…”
“I lost myself in the training, so it’s fine…”
“You don’t need to apologize.”
“I needed the training too.”
I decided to leave the Demon King to Ria.
But.
This is a fantasy world filled with monsters and bandits.
To survive here, I need to get stronger too.
I thought that to myself while slightly convincing myself that I wasn’t defeated, but just training.
Next lesson.
I taught her basic magic.
Fwoosh!
“Fire.”
“This is the most basic fire magic, but even just this one can make adventuring a lot easier.”
“It’s a spell that lets you easily start a campfire or use it instead of a torch.”
…I explained it while teaching her.
Fwoosh!
“Master!”
“I did it!”
“…It looks like it.”
She succeeded the moment I showed her the magic book.
‘What’s this?’
‘Is this talent?’
Crackle!
“This is lightning magic.”
Crash!
“This is water magic.”
Whoosh!
“This is wind magic.”
Boom!
“This is earth magic.”
Crinkle!
“This is ice magic.”
Sparkle!
“This is light magic.”
Swoosh.
“This is healing magic.”
Ria happily healed my body with a smile.
30 minutes into the magic lesson, Ria had learned all the basic magic spells.
‘What…?’
‘Well, I guess that makes sense.’
Since [Crybaby] is a magic-focused personality, it makes sense that her magic talent is higher.
‘But what’s going on here?’
‘Why do I feel so bad about this?’
‘Is this what jealousy feels like?’
I’m so envious.
‘If I had been reincarnated as the protagonist, I’d be showing off overwhelming talent and ruling as the strongest…’
‘Ah…’
‘I shouldn’t be jealous of that.’
‘Reincarnating as the protagonist?’
‘I’d gain great power, but I wouldn’t be able to get my favorite character.’
When I think about the most important thing being enjoying sweet moments with my favorite character, even being weaker but having the chance to get them is better than being a D-rank Kain.
…I thought that as I continued the lesson.
“If you’ve learned magic, how about learning something else?”
“Yes!”
“Master!”
Ria shouted with a bright smile.
If things had gone according to the game story, she would have been crying through the tutorial right now, but not anymore.
She now knows her mother is alive and has found a way to meet her again.
No reason to cry and be sad anymore.
It’s nice to see.
…I thought as I continued the final lesson.
There aren’t many life skills to teach.
Most of the survival skills taught in the tutorial are for surviving in the wilderness, but since the protagonist has cheats, they don’t need those skills.
So, I skipped most of it.
What about problems later on?
There won’t be any.
Life skills can be learned naturally when living with other companions.
Once she meets her first companion, she’ll pick them up.
So, I just casually talked with her as we made our way toward the bandit den.
***
“Bandits?…”
“Are you going to the bandits’ hideout?”
“Yeah.”
“At your current level, you could easily beat them.”
“Really?”
“It’s fine, there’s no need to be scared.”
“Because you’ve got the strength your mother gave you.”
“That’s true, but…”
“Master… you’ll stay with me, right?”
“I will.”
There’s a chance she’ll be crying and getting beaten up again like last time.
Once she grows more, her [Natural Healing Power] will increase, and she’ll reach an absolute invincible state where she won’t die no matter how much she gets hit.
But for now, she could still die, so it’s necessary for me to be with her.
… I thought as we reached the bandit hideout.
“Ria.”
“Can you do it?”
“I-I’ll try…”
Ria hesitated, looking uncertain, but then slowly walked ahead, turning back to glance at me.
“Master?”
“Not coming?”
“Try going alone for now.”
“If it seems too dangerous, I’ll help.”
“Okay.”
“Yes…”
***
Ria arrived at the entrance of the bandit hideout alone.
As soon as she saw the bandits, she drew her sword.
“Come at me!”
“Die, you’re my mother’s enemy!”
She looked scared and like she was about to cry, but she took a stance.
The bandits just laughed.
“What’s this?”
“Isn’t this the survivor from the village?”
“Oh…”
“We thought you were dead, but there’s one left?”
“So what now?”
“She said to kill them all, but I couldn’t even taste one woman…” the leader said.
“Such a beautiful girl coming to us on her own…”
“This…”
“If we don’t take her, it will be a man’s shame, right?”
“Of course, of course.”
“Letting such a beauty go would be a man’s disgrace.”
“Wow~”
“She’s got a pretty face, and her figure… Oh my… Look at those big breasts…”
“Eek!…”
“Miss.”
“Before I get serious, put down your sword and spread your legs.”
“I’ll be gentle.”
“I… I don’t want to!”
Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!
Ria swung her sword nervously in the air.
It looked like an awkward move, but if it hit even once, it would cause an instant death or near-death state.
But.
I was the only one who knew that.
The bandits thought it was cute and lightly swung their swords.
They intended to knock her sword away and overpower her.
Clang!
The bandit’s sword shattered as soon as it touched Ria’s awkward sword.
“Huh?…”
The bandit’s sword broke instantly.
<One-hit kill> doesn’t just apply to living creatures.
It can break weapons and erase magic with a single hit.
The ultimate destructive power that makes anything enter an <instant death> state as soon as it’s touched.
That’s <One-hit kill>.
But.
There’s a weakness.
Thwack!
“Ouch!”
It only activates if it touches the target.
Noticing this, the bandit threw a stone at Ria’s head, hitting it hard.
Thanks to her <Absolute Invincibility> trait, it would only be the equivalent of a light flick, dealing 1 damage…
But Ria collapsed with just that one hit.
“Ugh… Ugh…”
“Waaaaaah!”
Ria sat down on the ground, crying.
“Masterrrrr!”
“I’m scared!”
“Help meeeeee!”
“Waaaaaah!”
She cried out, calling for help.
‘Hey!’
‘If you shout like that, you’ll give me away!’
‘This is bad…’
Thanks to her invincibility trait, Ria is safe, but I’m not.
I’m just a D-class adventurer.
‘I got a little stronger after leveling up from catching Kyuring, but…’
I’m weak enough to die instantly if surrounded by bandits.
‘What should I do?…’
I thought we could win if I just sent Ria away.
I’d won everything alone in the game.
But.
<Whiny> Ria is now sitting there crying after being hit by a stone.
She’s practically in a <combat incapacitated> state.
‘Should I run away?’
‘Running away is an option.’
‘But.’
‘I can’t be sure what will happen to Ria.’
‘<Absolute Invincibility> should prevent her from dying, but…’
‘If the bandits drag her away, she’ll go straight to a 19+ event.’
‘That’s a bad ending in another sense.’
‘Sigh…’
‘That can’t happen.’
‘It’s a problem if my beloved Ria goes through something like that, but if the bandits do those kinds of things to her, she’ll enter a <despair> state and won’t be able to go after the Demon King.’
‘Then, the world ends.’
‘The Demon King conquers the world, and everyone dies, including me.’
‘But.’
‘I can’t fight directly.’
‘Ugh…’
‘If she keeps crying for help like that, it’ll attract all the attention…’
‘If there were only 1 or 2 of them, I could handle it with a surprise attack, but because of Ria’s crying, all the bandits have rushed out.’
‘If I go, I’ll just end up dead.’
Sigh…
‘If I use my trait, I could easily fix this…’
But I can’t borrow Ria’s ability.
There’s no way to do it.
…Or so I thought.
‘Wait a second…’
‘I have a way to use Ria’s traits!’
I quickly ran.
“Waaaaaah!”
“Masterrrrr!”
Ria shouted when she saw me.
All the bandits turned to look at me.
Wow.
The aggro effect is amazing.
But.
I can overcome this.
‘It’s in full whiny mode…’
It’s funny that I’m about to risk my life at this stage, but…
Ria’s situation is more of an issue.
‘What’s the use of all these cheat abilities…’
‘But the person controlling her is weaker than her whiny level…’
Anyway.
I’ll have to suffer a little longer.
“Ria!”
“Masterrrrr!”
“I need to borrow your body.”
“Wh… What?”
I grabbed Ria’s legs and swung her fiercely.
“Ria Smash!!!”
Wham!
I swung Ria like a weapon and knocked one of the bandits away.
The bandit fell into a <near-death> state.
Oh.
It’s definitely powerful.
“Waaaaaah!”
It’s a little loud, but I’ve just equipped a legendary weapon with 9999 attack power and 9999 durability.
