Chapter 39
Otherworld Demon King Survival Guide.
Episode 39: Becoming The Dungeon Master (10)
“Kereuk! Kereukhe!”
The terrified goblin began to scream hysterically. All he could do now was scream. Vines wrapped around his feet, leaving him immobile. He looked like a deer caught in a trap.
“Shaah!”
Sharan seemed to threaten as if she wanted to kill the creature.
“Wait!”
An immediate command to halt!
“Shaah?”
“Sharan! Don’t kill him! Just scare him like I do! Like this! Roar!”
I approached the tied goblin and shouted loudly!
“Wh, what?!”
The goblin turned pale!
Good! Let’s make him completely panic and faint! Then, the domination magic would have a 100% success rate!
“Rooooar! Rooooar! Sharan! Like this! Make noises and just scare!”
“Shaah?”
Sharan tilted her head for a moment.
“Shaah Shaah!”
—Sparkle!
With shining eyes, she brought her hands to her chest and nodded her head!
She understood!
And then!
—Swipe!
Raising both hands eerily above her head, Sharan began to circle the goblin, her fingers twitching like a ghost.
“Shaahhhhh! Shaahhhhhh!”
She shouted threateningly and eerily!
“Arrrghhh!”
The goblin screamed, peeing himself in fear as if he had fallen into hell.
“Good! Well done! But where’s Buril… Huh?”
“Kereuk…! Kereuk Kereuk!”
Buril, seeing Sharan’s threats, was shaking in fear in the corner, stuffing his fist into his mouth.
“Ah! Hey, Buril! What if you get scared, too?”
“Shaah! Shaahhhhhh!”
“Huhuhuuu!”
Sharan’s playful teasing and the terrified Buril.
Whatever, it was fine!
“Kick him! Sucker!”
I pretended to deliver a massive kick to the goblin’s head to scare him even more.
“Arrgh!”
“Kick! Sucker!”
“Yikes!”
Nobody would remain calm when a demon man twice their size tried to kick them in the face.
“Shaahhhh! Shaahhhhhh!”
“Kick! Sucker!”
Thus, Sharan and I continued to mentally torment the goblin.
And then.
“Gah!”
The goblin finally fainted.
“Now’s the time! Sharan, stop! Alright! Demon Domination Magic!”
—Woooom!
Immediately, I unleashed my dark magic!
“Infuse!”
I infused it into the back of the fainted goblin’s head. Then, Pzzt. My orb infiltrated his body, and a few seconds later…
“Ke, keruk…?”
The goblin, having regained consciousness, fidgeted.
“Look at me! Goblin! Look at me!”
“Keruk…?”
“Good! You’re looking at me! Now… raise your left arm!”
“Keruk.”
ㅡCheok.
The goblin raised its left arm.
“I did it!”
A shiver.
I felt a thrill.
I had successfully acquired the second goblin. Realizing this, emotions of thrill surged from deep within my heart.
“Wow, wow! Wow!”
I cheered joyfully, circling the goblin.
“Sha-aaaaaa! Sha-aaaaa!”
Sharan also imitated me, joining in the triumphant shouts behind me. So, together with Sharan, we celebrated.
“Keruk…?”
While keeping the bewildered goblin in the center.
“Keruk! Kerukkeruk!”
But this fellow also seemed intimidated upon seeing Sharan. Maybe this was an innate reaction.
“Anyway, Buril! You’ve got a new junior! A fellow goblin junior!”
I approached Buril, who was sitting in the corner, shoving his fist into his mouth and crying, to deliver the news.
“Kerung…?”
“Yeah. Look there. You have a junior now. Dude, you’re showing such a scared face now? You have to manage well. If you show weakness from the start, how’s that?”
After my persuasive words,
“Ke, keruk!”
Buril, seeming to understand, abruptly stood up!
“Sharan, come here. Buril, go train him.”
“Keruk!”
ㅡPapapap!
Buril rushed off.
“Shaasha.”
Sharan approached me, flapping her ears.
“Yeah, Sharan did well. Sit beside me.”
“Shaa.”
So,
“Keruk! Kerukkeruk!”
“Ke, keruluk…”
Sitting side by side with Sharan, we watched Buril train the goblin rookie. Truly, it was an extremely delightful time.
Then, we went hunting with the new goblin recruit. As we had a larger group, the hunt was a success in no time, and we returned to the dungeon with our day’s catch.
“Keruk. Kerukkeruk.”
Buril, now walking with pride, scolded the new recruit as he led the way.
“Ke, Keruruk…”
The goblin, no, since he was Buril’s junior, we decided to call him Rookie. Rookie was understandably nervous. He was intimidated by his senior, and behind him, there was a Dryad.
Fortunately, Buril became a bit bolder now that he had a junior. It seemed that he would guide him well in the future.
“Anyway, Sharan. You did really well. I truly love you.”
“Sha-a.”
Our Sharan was truly adorable. She had a pretty face and a great figure, and even her actions were adorable. She didn’t have any flaws. I should really consider making her my wife.
Upon our return to the dungeon,
“Kkurung!”
“Gyusatsat.”
“Oh, big brother’s here. Let’s light a fire and eat.”
I was welcomed by my subordinates, and we lit a fire and ate. Of course, the one responsible for lighting the fire was Imsoong. The Gyuil fellows also gathered good firewood.
“Alright! If everyone’s done eating, let’s get to work!”
“Keruk!”
“Gyusat!”
After eating, it was time for work.
I began dungeon expansion work with my subordinates. Today was Rookie’s first day.
To be honest, assigning work to a new recruit on his first day usually signified a very poor-quality unit, but this was the front line. We had no choice but to make him work.
“Kerukkeruk.”
“Kaerung.”
Buril was teaching Rookie how to use a shovel. He was certainly reliable.
While they were busy digging,
“Sha-a.”
Sharan tapped my shoulder. It seems she approached while I was watching the work.
“Hehe, Sharan’s here? Why?”
“Sha-a sha-a.”
Churuk.
She pointed towards the entrance of the dungeon.
“What’s there?”
“Sha-a-a.”
Jjooook.
She raised her hand upwards.
“A cliff.”
Our dungeon entrance was situated below this cliff. It was not a very high cliff, and when I looked up, I saw various trees and plants growing there.
“Sha-a. Sha-a sha-a. Sha-a? Sha-a-a.”
She seemed to suggest looking upwards. Then, with much enthusiasm, Sharan started explaining something about the dungeon entrance.
“Uhm… Sharan? I really like you, but I still can’t understand what you’re saying.”
“Sha-a. Sha-a sha-a. Sha-a.”
Such a pity.
While we were in this state,
Ssruleuk.
“Sha-a…”
Suddenly, Sharan touched the wall of the dungeon and summoned her powers. She was enveloped in a green aura.
“Keruk!”
“Kkureuk!”
Naturally, the rest fled in fear into the dungeon. I, on the other hand, observed Sharan closely.
“Sharan, you’re planning something, aren’t you?”
“Sha-a.”
Sharan nodded as she placed her hand on the wall.
Gooooo.
The mysterious magic continued to unfold.
After some time,
Ppudeuk!
Suddenly, what looked like tree roots burst through the wall of the dungeon!
“Wha?!”
These protruding roots climbed the dungeon wall and reached the ceiling, almost as if ivy was covering the wall.
“Could it be…”
No way.
“Sharan, did you… strengthen the dungeon’s endurance?”
Reinforcement of endurance.
“Sha-a, Sha-a.”
Sharan nodded with a smile.
“Sharan!”
And with that,
Whack!
I pulled Sharan into a warm embrace.
“You even reinforced the dungeon…! Wonderful! My Sharan!”
The tree roots would support and uphold my dungeon!
“Sharan!”
With proper reinforcement, I wouldn’t have to worry about dirt falling from the ceiling! And once it was complete, the dungeon would truly feel like it was enveloped in plant roots!
Joy welled up within me at the thought.
“Sharan! Sharan…!”
“Sha-a, Sha-a…”
Lick.
Sharan groomed my face.
“You’re just too lovely!!!”
As Sharan groomed me, a thought occurred.
In the future, I must manage Sharan’s energy usage properly. Creating tools drained her, as did restraining prey with vines and reinforcing the dungeon. All of it consumed her energy.
So, recharging Sharan’s power was of utmost importance… What could I use to replenish her?
“Mana infusion?”
That might just work.
“Sha-a!”
As expected, Sharan greatly enjoyed my mana infusion. Beyond that, she appeared very spirited. She must be overflowing with energy.
“Do you like it, Sharan?”
“Sha-a!”
Good.
Every morning, I should infuse her with mana like this. It was good for Sharan, and as I used my magic regularly, its maximum capacity should gradually increase.
With the growth of my mana and some leisure time, I could even open the dark magic book and study.
“I’ve laid the foundation, so it’s time I also grow.”
I would also have the chance to grow as a demon, and then, I could infuse more mana into Sharan.
Moreover, as Sharan frequently used magic, her proficiency would improve, and her skill level would rise.
Perfect!
“Great!”
If I could expand this dungeon and grow my subordinates and power, I should be able to fend off any threats!
“So, shall we go hunting today? Sharan, let’s go out, just the two of us this time.”
“Sha-a, Sha-a.”
“Buril! Take care of the kids and work while I’m gone! I’ll be back soon!”
“Keureuk!”
Thunk!
Buril, holding a shovel, saluted me.
“You’re just too cute.”
He was really dependable.
“Okay. Let’s move! Sharan!”
“Sha-a!”
As if going on a date,
I left the dungeon with Sharan.
As I was moving forward with Sharan,
“Sha-at? Sha-a.”
Thunk.
Sharan suddenly stopped. This meant something was amiss.
“…”
I immediately shut up and pressed closely to Sharan’s side. She, too, was on high alert, staring intently ahead.
If Sharan was this cautious,
Could they be dangerous?
Swish.
Without hesitation, I took cover and began to crawl forward. Sharan hid behind a nearby tree.
Peeking through the bushes ahead, I heard…
“Grak! Grik!”
“Grak! Grik!”
…the sound of their chanting.
“Grak! Grik!”
“Grak! Grik!”
They were slightly larger than goblins.
With red, plump skin.
Their noses were so flat that it seemed like the nostrils faced forward.
“Grak! Grik!”
“Grak! Grik!”
These creatures,
“Grak! Grik!”
“Grak! Grik!”
were armed with seemingly self-made stone axes and wore leather clothing… They were moving in unison, almost like an army.
“A new species.”
I instinctively deduced.
Those guys were dangerous.
