The Goblin Who Throws a Mountain(2)

The Goblin Who Throws a Mountain(2)

Inside the undeveloped gate dungeon where Gate Break had begun.

In the endless rocky mountain terrain, Jinhyun, Yun-ah, and the advance team hunters had temporarily taken refuge in a cave to avoid the fusion monster mass.

    “Damn it… Where did such a monster…”

“It seems like it was hiding in the lake and we irritated it somehow.”

    Jinhyun answers Yun-ah’s muttering.

The relaxed expression Yun-ah had at the start of the pioneering was long gone from her face, and now only fatigue and wounds from battle remained.

The giant water monster visible when standing guard at the cave entrance.

Although its entire body was made of water, the fusion monster mass’s appearance was clearly visible due to its body that easily exceeded 600 meters.

“We really have terrible luck. To think there’d be a fusion monster mass in an undeveloped gate that appeared next to the city.”

“You can say that again. Moreover, our radio was smashed when we were hit by that wave attack earlier… It’s the worst situation.”

“How many minutes will it take for support to arrive? No matter how I look at it, it seems impossible for us alone.”

“Since Gate Break has probably started, even if they prepared immediately upon seeing that… it would take 30 minutes to bring all the follow-up teams in.”

“This is really a fucking situation…”

“Ha! I think it’s the first time I’ve seen you curse in front of me. Yeah, it’s really a shitty situation.”

The undeveloped gate pioneering operation had seemed to be going smoothly.

However, due to an unexpected variable, the smooth sailing was miserably ruined.

The huge lake at the center of the rocky mountains they arrived at while slowly crossing the rocky mountains and taking out visible monsters along the way.

Jinhyun, Yun-ah, and the advance team hunters immediately tried to set up there as it was the perfect place to establish a temporary camp for pioneering, but before they could even finish unpacking, that fusion monster mass popped out of the huge lake.

And perhaps because they had invaded the fusion monster mass’s territory, its attacks began to pour down without warning.

Jinhyun and Yun-ah had no choice but to immediately flee with the advance team from the water magic that could carve away the rocks of the mountain.

They barely succeeded in escaping with Yun-ah freezing the monster’s feet and Jinhyun strengthening the cold with wind.

    “…It’s coming straight towards here.”

But before they could even treat their wounds after barely taking refuge in the cave, Yun-ah clicked her tongue at the sight of the fusion monster mass walking straight towards them.

Although she couldn’t grasp it accurately, the monster seemed to know their location somehow.

Its steps were slow befitting its enormous size of 600 meters, but its stride was so absurdly wide that it seemed the monster would reach this cave in 1 minute.

    “Is everyone’s condition alright?”

    “Cough…! Cough! I’m sorry…”

“Three people were severely injured after being swept up in the waves several times earlier, and twenty people ingested a lot of water, so immediate combat is impossible…”

    “I-I’m sorry for being a hindrance…”

“…The fusion monster mass was an unexpected situation, so it can’t be helped. Then you all should wait for support here instead. Ambiguous help would only be a hindrance. Mr. Jinhyun and I will draw its attention as much as possible and lead it elsewhere.”

Looking around once, as the healer said, only a very small number of people could fight.

Unlike Yun-ah and Jinhyun who only had scratches, most had quite large wounds on their bodies, and even those who could fight were pure physical fighters who couldn’t use magic.

Of course, their strength would be of no help in fighting the water-form fusion monster mass, so Yun-ah gave them a cold but rational order.

Glancing to the side, Jinhyun also seemed to agree, and although the advance team hunters seemed to feel guilty about being the only ones to stay out of the fight, they soon realized the reality and nodded.

Indeed, befitting high-ranking hunters with much experience, they didn’t act recklessly unlike rookie hunters.

At that, Yun-ah muttered inwardly that it was fortunate and then gripped her spear that had been lowered.

“Then we’ll draw its attention as much as possible, so please guide the support team that will come later.”

“Until then, focus on recovery as much as possible.”

    Thump—!! Thump—!!

Looking straight ahead, the fusion monster mass had already reached the second mountain in front.

At the monster’s footsteps shaking the earth as if saying there was no more time, Yun-ah and Jinhyun immediately jumped up from their spots, leaving behind the hunters’ worries and encouragement.

“Let’s lure it towards the lake from earlier first, Mr. Jinhyun!”

    “Alright, got it.”

They jumped up from the middle of the mountain where the cave was and landed on the summit.

As Yun-ah and Jinhyun reached the summit, the monster let out a roar that shook the air as if it had discovered them.

And as Yun-ah and Jinhyun, who had landed with a thud, rushed past the monster’s side, the monster’s gaze followed them.

    “We’ve properly drawn its attention!”

They were worried about what to do if it couldn’t take its eyes off the hunters hiding in the cave, but fortunately, this fusion monster mass seemed to prioritize enemies it could see right in front of it.

The monster began to turn its body that had been heading towards the cave, following its gaze that had turned towards them.

“Instead, attacks will be concentrated on us!”

However, if there was any misfortune, it was that attacks beyond what they had prepared for were about to pour down on them.

    “Guoooooooo!!!!!”

    “Here it comes!”

“I’m counting on you for freezing!”

The monster’s roar echoes once again.

Immediately after, a massive amount of water was fired in the form of beams at the two from the monster’s body where thousands of eyeballs were floating.

And at that unavoidable water cannon, Yun-ah stopped her feet on top of the rocky mountain she had been quickly jumping over and thrust her spear forward.

    “Haaaaaap!!!”

    Clash—!!!!!

A fierce collision sound that pierces the eardrums rings out from the tip of the spear, and the water cannon that touched the spear begins to freeze.

The end of the monster’s water cannon that began to freeze as soon as it touched the spear, despite its tremendous speed and thickness.

Then, as Yun-ah’s ice ring traveled up against the water cannon, Jinhyun standing beside her further boosted the freezing speed with the cold wind he had been preparing.

    “Please just freeze and die…”

A hope that might be possible if they continue this test of strength.

However, the fusion monster mass was not a stupid monster that would continue a battle of strength even though it was being pushed back.

    “Kuooo!!!”

    Splash—!!!

    “Kyaak!!”

    “Damn it…!”

When the monster stopped the water cannon it had been firing, the ice whose flow was cut off collapsed and fell to the bottom of the rocky mountain.

At that recoil, Yun-ah rolled backwards with a scream, and Jinhyun cursed as he saw the monster preparing to attack again.

The fusion monster mass begins to raise water from beneath its feet while raising both hands.

Realizing that action was preparation for the wave attack they had seen earlier, Jinhyun opened his eyes wide and grabbed Yun-ah’s arm who had fallen face down on the ground.

“Get up quickly! Hurry! A wave is coming!!”

    “Ugh… Yes!”

Although Han Yun-ah was someone he hated to even look at normally, there was no one more reliable than her, an S-rank 4th hunter, in a situation like this.

Therefore, Jinhyun immediately prepared to flee together with Yun-ah who had quickly gotten up by grabbing his outstretched arm, but.

    “Kuoooooo!!!!!”

    “Damn it… We’re too late!”

“I’ll put up an ice wall…!!”

Unfortunately, the monster raising the wave was faster than the two starting to flee.

A huge wave rushing towards them, wrapping around the rocky mountains as if a dam had burst and water was overflowing.

A hollow laugh flows out at the ridiculous size that jumps over rocky mountains as if the waves from earlier were mere splashes.

Yun-ah seemed to try to withstand the wave by raising an ice wall full of cold air, but the momentum of the wave was ominous enough for worry to precede faith.

“We said we’d try to draw attention, but at this rate…”

“Don’t give up, Mr. Jinhyun! We have to try to survive somehow!!”

    “Yeah… That’s right.”

There was nothing wrong with Yun-ah’s words.

No matter how desperate the situation, they shouldn’t give up.

But no matter how hard they struggled, a way to defeat that monster just wouldn’t come to mind.

    “Unless some hero appears…”

To take that down, it would probably only be possible if a hero from a fairy tale appeared.

Jinhyun inwardly muttered such nonsense at the surreal situation and stuck as close as possible behind Yun-ah, then clenched his fist as he watched the ice wall Yun-ah began to spread.

If only they could hold out until the support team arrived.

    “Hold on tight!”

    “Got it!”

In this desperate situation, Yun-ah and Jinhyun entrusted their bodies to the dome-shaped ice wall that began to envelop them while letting out a shout.

Crack, the freezing ice wall envelops the two, standing against the wave.

However, just before the ice wall could form a complete shape.

    Whoosh—!!!!!

Something huge flew towards the monster, brushing past the summit of the rocky mountain where the two were standing.

    “What?!”

    “Eh?!”

Of course, the two shouted in surprise at the huge something that suddenly brushed right past them.

But soon, they couldn’t properly see what it was due to the ice wall that had completely covered them.

Instead, what they heard was the sound of the wave fiercely hitting the ice wall, the sound of a huge water droplet bursting, followed by a tearing roar.

Fortunately, that fierce wave flowed away without even scratching Yun-ah’s ice wall, so the two simultaneously made puzzled expressions, and Yun-ah immediately collapsed the ice wall she had erected.

Then the scene that had been hidden by the ice wall came directly into view.

And at the scene that came into view, Jinhyun and Yun-ah said while drawing in a sharp breath, without needing to be first:

    “Wh-what in the world…?”

    “…What impossible thing has happened?”

As an S-rank hunter, of which only 6 exist, and as the second son of the highest power holder, the General Management Team, the two could boast that they had seen their fair share of unrealistic sights.

But at least the scene unfolding before their eyes now did not fall into that category of “fair share”, so the two blankly opened their mouths.

    “Half of its body…”

    “Has completely disappeared.”

The fusion monster mass that had been standing intact until just now was gone, and a fusion monster mass with its upper body blown away staggered and collapsed to the ground with a splash.

And what had blown away the upper body of such a fusion monster mass was none other than a rocky mountain.

Literally, a rocky mountain hundreds of meters in size here was filling the place where the fusion monster mass’s upper body had been until just now, embedded in another rocky mountain.

As if someone had pulled out a rocky mountain and thrown it.

    “Did a real hero appear?”

At this truly unrealistic sight, Jinhyun just muttered like that with a hollow laugh.

    “A goblin…?”

Only Yun-ah’s quiet recitation was buried under Jinhyun’s voice and scattered in the wind.

    Crash—!!!!!

The rocky mountain that flew through the air blows away the fusion monster mass’s upper body and embeds itself in another rocky mountain.

Immediately after, the monster’s body falls with a very satisfying roar.

    “Haha! Accurate.”

    『Hmm! It was accurate!』

At that, I, who had thrown the rocky mountain, shared joy with Hwa-gon while laughing.

    Mountain throwing.

As the name suggests, it was a traditional game of the Goblin Clan where they throw and play with mountains.

It was a game I used to play with other goblins when I was young and one I hadn’t played in a while, but it seems my skills still haven’t died.

I couldn’t help but smile at the mountain that was thrown so cleanly like in the old days.

    “Huh…”

    “Ah…”

It seems the two standing beside me weren’t the same, though.
