    Chapter 37: I Was Lacking

Though others seemed disgusted, Seyul was rather unsatisfied.

If he had his way, he would have made the other swear on their parents too, but the other party was a god.

Since they probably didn’t have parents, he had no choice but to leave that out.

‘At least this way, they won’t be able to blatantly stab me in the back.’

That is, if the other party had any conscience.

Inwardly clicking his tongue, Seyul said:

“Now that we’ve written up the agreement, I’ll help as promised.”

    <Thank you so much>

The Wind God sneered, feeling hurt by the attitude that said “I don’t trust you.”

<Since you’re helping anyway, why don’t we go right now?>

    “Right this instant?”

<With your joining, all our forces are gathered. No need to waste time>

All other preparations and locating the target had been done long before Seyul arrived.

The Wind God had been itching to go after the enemy right away, but held back due to uncertainty about their forces.

“If you have no other schedule, I’d like to move out immediately as well.”

Alje, who was also eager to go with Seyul to take on the Goblin Master, seemed to be in a hurry.

    “Alright.”

Seyul had no particular reason to delay either.

As he readily agreed, the Wind God suddenly held out its hand.

<Then take this before we go>

    “What is this?”

    <It’s a miniature magic furnace>

The object called a miniature magic furnace was about the size of a head.

It looked like a vertically halved gemstone.

<If you attach this to your chest, the magic power of the furnace will be added to your own magic power. It boosts your magic and increases your power. Put it on before fighting>

    “I don’t need it.”

<Don’t be stubborn. The ones we’re about to fight are the army of Sikma, who have become unimaginably strong due to Drain. Fighting barehanded would be suicide>

“That’s your opinion. I’ll handle things my way, so worry about yourself.”

    <…If you insist>

A voice that seemed to be serious.

The Wind God didn’t seem to be in a good mood, perhaps offended that Seyul rejected its goodwill.

Turning its head sharply away from Seyul, it handed them to the other magical beasts including Alje.

<At least you all take them>

    “Yes!”

As it distributed them according to the number of people, the magical beasts accepted without complaint.

The other party was a benefactor who gave them the power to fight.

Even if given trash, they would accept it gratefully, let alone something actually helpful.

“Thank you so much. If it weren’t for you, Wind God, we couldn’t have even dreamed of revenge.”

Among them, Alje was especially grateful as he attached the miniature magic furnace to his chest.

“I will never forget the kindness you’ve shown, even after death.”

    <It’s nothing>

A battle where they might die at any moment was right ahead.

Alje gave words of thanks that might become his last will, and the Wind God accepted them lightly.

    [What a touching scene]

[The Wind God finally did something godlike in this game]

    [I hope they don’t die]

    [That depends on Seyul’s will]

The viewers who read the atmosphere also became solemn.

    “Hmm.”

Only Seyul’s mood did not sink.

After looking at the Wind God with searching eyes, he abruptly said:

“Wait. Are you coming along too?”

    <Yes>

“I thought you gods weren’t supposed to interfere in worldly affairs.”

<But I can provide indirect help. Like just now, by giving items or issuing commands>

The Wind God insisted on coming along, saying it would be helpful.

And so, the subjugation party including the Wind God set off to capture the root of all evil.

This world is just a game after all.

Even distances that would take days in reality can be traveled quickly for convenience.

So they were able to arrive at the Goblin Master’s location in just a few hours.

    ‘Is that him?’

Seyul frowned as he looked ahead, mixed in with the magical beasts.

Dozens of meters ahead was someone commanding countless magical beasts.

Green skin with protruding fangs, a ferocious appearance.

Wearing a necklace made of skulls and a blood-red helmet on his head.

Over 2 meters tall, with an extraordinary aura of magic power.

The very image of the Goblin Master.

    His real name was ‘Graham’

Originally, he would have become Seyul’s master if Seyul had played normally.

    [Where did the original go?]

    [It’s quite a sight]

[Is this really that Goblin Master?]

    [Looks like some boss monster]

[He looks strong at a glance]

[He did teach good skills, but he wasn’t originally this strong]

[For a goblin, the lowest rank of magical beast, to reach this level is quite an achievement]

[It’s impressive, but I wouldn’t want to emulate him]

Viewers who had seen Graham before widened their eyes in shock.

Except for being a goblin, he had completely changed.

Originally, he was small in stature since he was a goblin and somewhat old.

But after growing stronger through Drain, his physique grew larger and he became younger.

If not for his race and the distinctive red helmet he had worn before, they wouldn’t have recognized him.

    “You bastard!”

    “You son of a b*tch!”

The allied magical beasts trembled with rage upon seeing Graham.

It was natural, with their mortal enemy right before their eyes.

As they seethed with anger, looking ready to pounce at any moment, Graham turned his gaze towards them.

    “Hehe, so you’ve finally come?”

    An utterly relaxed attitude.

Though he guessed why they had come, Graham remained calm.

“Well, I’ve caused quite a ruckus, so it’s about time for a subjugation party to arrive. Very well, come at me if you dare.”

Just as the allies were about to charge at Graham’s provocation:

    “Wait.”

    Seyul stepped forward, restraining them.

He focused his gaze on Graham and spoke.

“Before we fight, there’s something I’d like to ask.”

“With that beauty. You must be the famous second Ruby Hero of late. What do you want to know?”

    “Why did you do this?”

Though it didn’t show, Seyul had been quite curious.

About what purpose the other had for causing all this.

“If it was just about you getting stronger through Drain, I could understand. But you didn’t use it alone, you unleashed it on the world. Why?”

    “It’s simple. For research.”

    “Research?”

    “My Drain was incomplete.”

The truth Graham revealed was shocking enough to stun not only Seyul, but even the viewers.

“The Drain I’m aiming for doesn’t simply end with absorbing the enemy’s life to become stronger. ”

“Actually, there’s a higher goal, and I needed test subjects for that. ”

“Test subjects to learn and test Drain in my place. ”

“Originally, I planned to persuade suitable ones who came to where I was researching, but either by bad luck or something else, no one came.”

He confessed that he had no choice but to go out himself and teach anyone he could find to use as test subjects.

The meaning of this confession was only one thing:

[So the original test subject was supposed to be the player?]

[And teaching Drain was purely to make them into test subjects?]

[So all this commotion happened because Seyul didn’t come, so he used others as test subjects instead?]

It was a truth they didn’t want to believe.

    [We were just test subjects]

[He wasn’t a good guy, just a villain]

    [I trusted him!]

[No, if you think about it, it was strange]

[Teaching a technique like Drain to humans who aren’t even his own kind]

[There must have been some ulterior motive!]

    [f*ck!]

[This is more shocking than being hit in the back of the head with a hammer!]

The ugly truth about the being they had even called master.

As everyone fell into confusion, unable to handle such a truth:

    Graham cried out in ecstasy:

“Thanks to you all, the true Drain has finally been completed. Rejoice, for you shall be its first sacrifices!”

    “That’s just your wishful thinking!”

Seyul sneered at Graham who was acting like he had already won.

He had asked just in case, but with such a trivial reason, there was no need to hesitate.

    The battle began.

    “Attack!”

    “Kill them!”

    The enemy and allies clashed.

The allied magical beasts bravely fought against the enemy magical beasts who had grown strong through Drain.

The allied magical beasts all had wind-based abilities thanks to the Wind God’s blessing.

When they clashed with the enemy, wind whirled in all directions.

    “O wind!”

    Alje was the same.

He summoned a huge whirlwind to attack his hated enemy.

But when the whirlwind reached Graham, it noticeably weakened.

    “What!”

    “Haha, are you surprised?”

Graham laughed gleefully at the shocked Alje.

“This is the true Drain I have completed. Beyond absorbing the power of those killed, it’s the ultimate technique that even absorbs the magic power released by the living!”

Depending on the opponent’s level, it can absorb at least half or more.

Considering that the magical beasts’ attacks are based on magic power, it could halve the power of all attacks.

A power that could conquer the world of magical beasts!

Graham was arrogant about this absolute power he had gained after a lifetime of research, but.

    At that moment.

His cheek was struck by a spear shaft, turning his head.

    “Wha-what…”

“Are you an idiot? If that’s the case, you just need to beat them physically without magic.”

Seyul spoke contemptuously to the bewildered Graham.

And for good measure, he struck the other cheek as well.

    “How dare you!”

Graham tried to counterattack, but Seyul immediately disappeared.

Seyul appeared and disappeared like a ghost, steadily landing hits.

Taking advantage of the opening, Alje also attacked again as they faced Graham.

    <Everyone, push in deeper!>

In the midst of the chaotic battle.

The Wind God issued orders to the allies.

<I’m about to provide support, but it’s most effective when both allies and enemies are gathered closely together!>

The Wind God ordered the allies to cluster together as much as possible.

Though they didn’t know what it was planning, all the allied magical beasts followed the order.

The Wind God that had come this far with them wouldn’t do anything to harm them.

    <Well done!>

When the desired clustered formation was complete, the Wind God rejoiced.

<Now that you’ve all served your purpose, please die!>

There was no time to question the sudden command to die.

The miniature magic furnaces the Wind God had given before the battle.

Those attached to the magical beasts’ chests all exploded at once.
