Chapter 36: Undiscovered Dungeon (2)
by AfuhfuihgsUndiscovered Dungeon (2)
I exchanged introductions with Senior Yeon Si-mun’s group.
The man who had laughed uproariously approached me first.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Heo Chang-woo, third year. I’m in the melee damage dealer and tank position.”
“I’m Lee Dojin.”
“I know, Wooden Sword Guy.”
“…Wooden Sword Guy?”
“Yeah, you only used a wooden sword in the mock dungeon exam too, right? The first-years call you Wooden Sword Guy.”
They came up with a strange nickname.
I’ve never heard it directly, so it seems they don’t use the nickname in front of me.
“I’m a mage. Jung Han-sol.”
A woman in a gray robe wearing horn-rimmed glasses approached Lee Dojin.
“It’s your first time seeing a mage, right?”
“Yes, it’s my first time.”
I’m seeing it for the first time.
A being called a mage. Of course, that itself wasn’t surprising.
“Let’s go in quickly.”
One man threw his gaze towards the rippling gate.
He was already wearing an armor-like suit.
“It’s been 6 days since discovery. In one more day, a dungeon break could occur.”
When a dungeon appears in the world, and if that dungeon is left unattended for more than 7 days, a dungeon break occurs where the dungeon bursts and monsters pour out.
“Let’s do that.”
Senior Yeon Si-mun’s voice was heard from behind.
The senior put her hand on my shoulder once again.
“If any problem occurs, just say we’re six people who happened to pass by and entered the dungeon we discovered today for the first time. It’s legal for academy students to enter dungeons like that.”
“I understand.”
Everyone equipped their hunting devices.
I put on the nano black suit I received from the Sword Empress.
Click-
Black armor enveloped my entire body.
Yeon Si-mun’s battle suit was dark red.
“Let’s go in.”
Yeon Si-mun walked in leisurely.
“Hey! Yeon Si-mun! I’m the tank!”
Ignoring Heo Chang-woo’s shout.
I naturally entered last.
Darkness covered my vision for a moment.
Soon after, the color that filled my sight was green.
“It’s a forest type, huh.”
Heo Chang-woo’s muttering was heard.
Forest-type dungeons were among the most common types of dungeons.
The undergrowth shook violently.
Thud thud thud-!
The ground shook fiercely.
“A huge one is coming right from the start.”
What burst out of the undergrowth was an ogre.
What surprised me wasn’t the appearance of the ogre, but the fact that no one was flustered by its appearance.
The tank, Heo Chang-woo, immediately ran forward and stretched out his arm. A huge shield completely blocked the ogre’s fist.
The shield shook from the ogre’s destructive power.
And someone darted out like an arrow from the right.
It was Senior Yeon Si-mun.
Red fighting energy was wrapped around her fist.
Pueouk!
The ogre’s chin shot upwards.
Yeon Si-mun’s feet didn’t stop. She firmly planted her foot on the ground and extended her arm once more.
This time it was the side. An explosive fist strike emitted light.
With just two direct hits, the ogre’s body crumbled.
Yeon Si-mun, who had stomped the ground, lifted her foot and stomped down on the ogre’s neck.
It was to completely cut off its breath.
Yeon Si-mun, who had killed the ogre in one breath, moved on nonchalantly.
While brushing off the ogre’s flesh stuck to her gauntlet.
There certainly wasn’t the clumsiness seen in first-year students.
They were skilled hunters.
Park Hyung-jun was a swordsman.
Like Lee Dojin.
So he wasn’t very happy about Lee Dojin’s recruitment.
‘Yeon Si-mun probably didn’t intend it, but.’
It was clear that she called Lee Dojin not because they specifically needed another swordsman class, but because they needed one more melee damage dealer.
Because the proportion of swordsman class is the highest among melee damage dealers.
She probably had no intention at all of making Lee Dojin and himself compete.
Because Yeon Si-mun was a hunter who didn’t put personal feelings into raids.
But even if he was the freshman representative, he was still a first-year.
He just didn’t like that someone who didn’t even have a hunter license yet was brought in as equal to, or even above, himself.
So Park Hyung-jun went ahead.
To prove to himself that he was a swordsman not inferior to that first-year.
Slash!
Two orcs and one ogre lost their lives to Park Hyung-jun’s sharp sword.
As he was catching his breath while shaking off his sword, a chilling feeling enveloped his entire body.
“…!”
Kwang!
As soon as he recognized that something was pouncing, his body flew far away along with his consciousness.
Park Hyung-jun’s body, which had flown far, crashed into a large tree.
“Keurk!”
It felt like he had been hit by a dump truck.
Thanks to the expensive suit, he didn’t take much damage, but his body wouldn’t move.
When he opened his eyes, he saw an ogre with two heads.
A beast rushing towards Park Hyung-jun who had been incapacitated.
Lee Dojin’s body shot towards that beast.
Twin-headed ogre.
Lee Dojin rushed without hesitation towards the confirmed S-rank monster.
Not the slightest hesitation was felt.
Jeouk!
He lightly avoided the huge fist swung with wind pressure using his footwork.
‘As expected.’
Yeon Si-mun closely watched Lee Dojin’s movements. It was a skillful movement that couldn’t be seen as a first-year student.
Thwack!
He stomped the ground hard.
Dust flew up into the air.
Lee Dojin’s body shot out like a bullet. The sword energy scattered from the tip of the sword bisected the twin-headed ogre’s body.
Puhwak!
Dark red blood spurted out like a fountain.
The body wasn’t in two pieces. The twin-headed ogre’s arms moved.
It was too fast to be believed as the thrashing of a dying creature.
“Uh…!”
A dull sound flowed from the tank Heo Chang-woo’s mouth.
Because the total of four hands reaching for Lee Dojin looked more vicious than any weapon.
Light flashed from Lee Dojin’s wooden sword.
Soon after, several layers of flashes drew in the air.
The twin-headed ogre’s arms were cut into pieces and floated in the air.
And another flash poured down in a straight line.
The wooden sword that had completely penetrated the abdomen was pulled out again.
Lee Dojin swung his sword once to shake off the blood.
Droplets of blood splattered on the grass below.
“I need to practice a bit more.”
Indifferent words flowed from Lee Dojin’s mouth.
“…What practice?”
A muttering voice was heard.
It was Jung Han-sol of the mage class.
Jung Han-sol reverse-summoned the fireball she had been casting in the air to help Lee Dojin.
She was dumbfounded because the word ‘practice’ came out of Lee Dojin’s mouth, who had killed an S-rank monster alone without any help.
Lee Dojin stared at the pieces of twin-headed ogre flesh stuck all over his black suit.
“There must be monsters we shouldn’t let flesh or blood get on us like this, right?”
Only one person nodded at Lee Dojin’s words.
It was Yeon Si-mun.
“That’s a very good observation. There are quite a few monsters that cause pain even after death. Like explosion spiders or acid trolls. To prepare for such creatures, it’s always necessary to study movements.”
Jung Han-sol clicked her tongue.
“Tsk… anyway, annoying genius bastards.”
Yeon Si-mun tilted her head.
“Aren’t you a genius too?”
Jung Han-sol belonged to the genius category even among mage classes. It was true that she had reached 4th circle at age 22.
Jung Han-sol clicked her tongue once more.
“Even among geniuses, there are levels. You two bastards are geniuses among geniuses.”
Yeon Si-mun tilted her head again.
“I don’t understand.”
Lee Dojin also tilted his head.
“I don’t understand either.”
In Choi Bit-na’s case, his innate talent didn’t seem that outstanding.
Jung Han-sol spoke while looking at Park Hyung-jun and Heo Chang-woo who were still standing blankly.
“Isn’t it fucking annoying?”
Heo Chang-woo chuckled.
“It is annoying.”
Park Hyung-jun approached Lee Dojin with a slightly stiff face.
“Thank you.”
Lee Dojin replied as if it was nothing.
“It’s nothing. It was something that had to be killed anyway.”
Park Hyung-jun smiled bitterly while looking at Lee Dojin.
‘How embarrassing.’
He realized that this wasn’t an opponent to assert his pride over with things like school year.
Yeon Si-mun confirmed that all group members had finished regrouping.
They killed a few more ogres and went deeper inside.
For a very brief moment, they passed through an area where even trees weren’t visible and the horizon stretched on.
Then soon after, another new scenery greeted the group.
An unusually dense forest.
The group instinctively felt that this dungeon’s boss monster was inside this forest.
Crack!
Yeon Si-mun cracked her neck once.
“Let’s go, to hunt the boss.”
Rustle-
And she lifted the forest’s curtain.
“…”
Yeon Si-mun’s brow hardened.
It was clearly a place where something should be. A place where something should exist.
But there was nothing.
Today, there were people who had entered the dungeon before they entered.
The boss monster of this place had died at their hands.
The fact that they hadn’t come out after killing the boss meant there was only the possibility that they knew the group would come and were waiting.
“Raise your shield, Chang-woo.”
Heo Chang-woo raised his shield without a word at Yeon Si-mun’s words and infused it with mana.
Something shot out like a streak of light.
A huge shield large enough to cover the front of all six people spread out in front.
Kagagagang!
A long crack appeared on the huge shield.
“Some rats were hiding.”
A man sitting on a thick tree trunk entered Yeon Si-mun’s eyes.
It was a snake-belly sword swung like a whip.
The man who had retrieved the snake-belly sword was wearing a huge uniform.
On the back of that uniform was written “New Humanity Society” (新人類會).
“I’ve come to execute the death list. Yeon Si-mun.”
Yeon Si-mun’s mouth twisted.
“Talk shit, talk shit.”
Though her tone was mocking, a terrible killing intent was flowing from Yeon Si-mun’s body.
It was an occasional occurrence for the New Humanity Society to try to kill promising hunters who had refused their recruitment.
“It’s been 3 years, hasn’t it? Yeon Si-mun.”
The man only raised the corners of his mouth while receiving the aura full of killing intent.
“You’ll have to die too, like that guy you called uncle.”
Red energy surged from Yeon Si-mun’s entire body.
“There will be a few more. That guy is probably the leader. I’ll handle him, so be careful.”
“W-wait! Si-mun!”
Jung Han-sol hurriedly tried to grab Yeon Si-mun’s hand to calm her down.
But Yeon Si-mun kicking off the ground and jumping up was faster.
Her silver hair fluttered like a lion’s mane.
A red light flashed in her two eyes.
She shot her body with the momentum to slaughter the man holding the snake-belly sword.
