    Chapter 35

    Chapter 35

    Otherworld Demon King Survival Guide.

Episode 35: Becoming The Dungeon Master (6)

“Damn it! Everyone! Get ready for a joint attack! We absolutely cannot win if we don’t fight together!”

The Dryad was a formidable opponent. We’d only have a slim chance of winning even if we risked our lives and gave our best.

So, we had to give it our all!

    “Bremen Music Brigade Formationnnnnn!”

At my shout, my demon army groaned softly.

    “Oooooooon!”

And the moment I gave that command.

    “Keurek!”

    “Kkeureureuk!”

    “Gyusatsat!”

Braver than ever, my invincible demon army took their battle formations.

    -Cheruek!

Imsoong climbed onto my shoulder, with the kobolds positioned behind me. Buril stood right beside me. Now, Imsoong would throw flames upon my command while Buril and I would split and target from the sides. The kobolds would charge from the front.

    “This is our ultimate form!”

Our most potent battle formation, ready for a desperate fight to the death!

“It’s the ‘Kyuse Demon Army Bremen Music Brigade Formation’!”

    “Keureureureuk!”

    “Kkeureureuk!”

    “Gyusatsat!!!”

Witnessing our murderous battle cry, the Dryad responded:

    “Shyaa?”

She simply put a finger to her lips, cocked her head, and fluttered her leaf ears.

She was looking down on us!

“You think our full strength is nothing but a joke to you!”

    She truly was powerful.

But her arrogance and carelessness would cost her. This was a cold judgment. She had explosive power but was frail in stamina. We had a chance.

    At that moment,

    -Swoosh.

The Dryad stepped out from the bushes and began walking towards us.

    “Kyaak!”

Seeing this, I screamed like a child, hugged my spear, but then quickly regained my composure and aimed it again.

    So it begins…!

    “Shyaa, Shyaashyaa.”

    “Hmm?”

But then, the approaching Dryad suddenly stopped midway. She looked around as if surveying the surroundings.

Inspecting the battlefield before the fight?

    “Shyaa!”

After finishing her surveillance, the Dryad nodded once, then turned around and started walking towards a tree behind her.

    “Keurek…!”

    “Kkeureuk!”

Buril and Imsoong, both paralyzed with fear, exclaimed.

“What, what? Why? Why is she leaving?”

    What was going on?

Reaching the tree, the Dryad gently caressed its bark with her delicate and smooth hand. Unsure of her actions, I continued watching.

    “Shyaaaa… Shyaa…”

It seemed like she was singing or… Wait!

    -Dugeun!

I felt a power similar to magic fill the air! Was it the Dryad’s energy? That energy turned into a transparent green flame in her hand.

    “Green Fire Fist…!”

    While singing,

She stroked the tree bark with her Green Fire Fist.

    And then,

    ㅡSproing, sproing…!

    ㅡSproing sproing!

Suddenly, branches started growing from the tree at an incredibly fast speed! Even faster than how bamboo shoots grew! They grew right before my eyes, and…

    ㅡPop!

Out came a branch. This wasn’t just some casual breakage. The Dryad used magic to make the tree branch grow and then received it from the tree.

    “Plant magic…!”

    But that wasn’t all.

    “Shaa.”

In the Dryad’s hand was a long, thick branch. And something mysterious began to happen at its end. It started to swell on its own.

    “Keerlurk…!”

    “Krr!”

Buril and Imsoong were literally shoving their fists into their mouths, tears streaming down their faces. It felt like watching a horror movie.

    And then,

    ㅡRustle.

The Dryad’s plant magic was finally complete.

The branch had morphed into something strange… Could it be? Did she create a weapon? Did she craft a weapon using wood magic? It looked somewhat like a club or an axe… But weren’t her nails stronger?

    “Shaa!”

    ㅡNod nod.

The Dryad looked at the tool in her hand, nodding as if pleased. Then she approached me again.

“What the hell! What are you trying to do…?”

    A tense moment.

    The advancing Dryad stopped.

    “Shaashaya.”

She extended the piece of wood to me.

    “What?”

    “Shaa. Shaashaa.”

    “What are you saying?”

    “Shaa.”

She kept offering the wood to me.

    “Huh?”

    Could it be…?

    “You’re giving that to me?”

When I tapped my chest to ask,

    “Shaa.”

The Dryad nodded with a smile.

    “…”

Was she serious? Was she giving that to me? Why? For what reason? And what was it in the first place? My mind was racing.

    “Gulp…”

    “Cough…”

    “Groan…”

Imsoong had already fainted. Buril was shaking with eyes rolled back, foaming at the mouth. And the Kobolds behind me were lying down, showing their bellies.

    A damn useless bunch!

    Anyway!

    “Shaashaa.”

This deadlock couldn’t continue. I put down Imsoong from my shoulder and slowly, cautiously approached the Dryad.

    ㅡSwoosh.

The Dryad held the wood out closer to me.

    “Hmm?”

But looking at it… it was wood.

    It looked like a spade.

A straight handle. The end had a slightly rectangular feel. If I trimmed the end with my hand axe, it would actually look like a wooden spade… Why did she make something like this?

    “…!”

    Perhaps.

She knew I was digging the ground. Recognized its utility and magically crafted the appropriate tool?

    For me?

    Was this a gift?

“So, is this a gift? Well, thank you.”

    ㅡChuck.

    As I grabbed the handle,

    “Shaa!”

    “Eek!”

The Dryad burst into a broad smile!

    I was startled!

    “Shaashaa.”

She nodded with a bright expression. With such a scantily clad, gorgeous woman leaning back and smiling right before me, I felt my senses numb.

    “…”

    Anyway, this wooden spade,

It really looked like a genuine spade.

To think she’d give me this.

I was grateful, but what was this all about?

    “Th-thank you?”

I tried to express my gratitude again with a slight bow and a misshapen posture.

    “Shaa.”

Acknowledging my gesture, the Dryad turned and walked back into the bushes. She then disappeared, leaving behind the wooden spade and a pleasant fragrance… Oh, and a view of her figure as well.

I could only blankly stare in the direction where she disappeared.

“She just gave me a spade and left?”

    What was that about?

    “Spade.”

I looked at the spade again.

No, really. It looked like a good spade. It felt solid when I held it, and the blade part seemed sturdy. I took a moment to take out my hand axe and did some trimming on the shovel’s blade part.

    ㅡSwish swish.

    ㅡSwish.

After a while, I had crafted a pretty darn good wooden spade.

    “Strength?”

Immediately, I turned towards the dungeon entrance. My henchmen were all unconscious. Overwhelmed by fear, they all succumbed to the bliss of fainting.

    “Damn.”

    Couldn’t blame them.

    It was my inadequacy.

    Anyway…

I drove the spade into the dungeon wall.

    ㅡThud!

    “Oh, oh…! Damn it!”

    Damn!

    ㅡThud!

    ㅡSavage!

It smoothly dug through, with dirt piling up with each scoop!

    “Damn, this is awesome!”

Although it was a pure wooden spade and couldn’t match the metal spades we used in the army, this was an excellent spade! With this, the pace of dungeon excavation would surely increase by dozens of percentages!

“How can she give something like this!”

Although I didn’t exactly know why she gave me this shovel, after seeing its performance, I felt an overwhelming gratitude towards the Dryad!

“Thank you! Thanks! No! Thank you! Lovely Dryad Noona!”

It didn’t seem she was solely out to kill or eat me! If she had such intentions, she wouldn’t have given me this shovel!

“It seems I might have misunderstood.”

This beautiful and sexy Dryad Noona was not a wicked monster but just an older sister who simply loved nature.

Maybe when she seductively swayed her chest at me and chased after me, it was merely to greet the new neighbor. Considering the gift she gave me, it was quite clear. I might have overreacted.

I was still a bit uneasy, but I should express my gratitude again the next time we met.

“Damn it! Hey! Wake up! Did you all just faint and leave me behind? Huh?”

I quickly tried to wake up my subordinates.

    “Kerek…? Kerek! Kereruk!”

Buril, who quickly sat up, began to mumble in fear. I promptly reassured him.

“Hey. That Noona left. So calm down.”

    “Kerek? Ke, Kereruk…”

Only then did Buril, who was rubbing his chest, stand up.

    “Kerek!”

    ㅡ Ppaak!

But damn, as soon as this guy woke up, he threw a punch at Imsoong and fell back.

    “Kkureuk!”

Lying flat on the ground, Imsoong grabbed his head and jumped up. What was he, a frog?

    “Kerek! Kerekkeruk!”

    “Kkureruruk!”

These guys were really something. Even though he had also fainted, he was now reprimanding his junior.

But I could probably forgive Buril.

    “Kya!”

As I properly dug with the shovel, a deep admiration surged from within.

    ㅡ Pasak!

    ㅡ Ssweuk!

Every time I dug in and scooped out the soil, I felt such a sense of fulfillment. The primitive tools we used to use, the wooden spades and the like, couldn’t even compare to this.

    Humans really needed tools.

It was truly an amazing tool.

If I were to rank it, it was Rare.

For reference, Buril was Uncommon, and Imsung was Common.

I guess I’d be around Unique.

    “Kerek!”

    “Gyusatsat!”

The work speed visibly increased drastically. Seeing me digging, my subordinates cheered and praised me.

“Kuu…! Dryad Noona really is the best.”

It has been three days already.

    Since she left.

Thanks to the Dryad, even though we went hunting in the morning and started working from noon, our work progress was moving at a very fast pace.

I was thinking it would be good if she visited again while I was digging…

    “Shaa!”

    “Eh!”

    The Dryad appeared again!
