Chapter 34: [EDen] Wake the f*** up, SAMURAI. Let’s burn down the city together [Yuki/Rin/Lunaverse] (1)

[Rin: Unnie! Did the move go well?]

[Rin: How’s the new place? Do you like it?]

[Rin: And you remember we’re collabing in Eden at 8, right?]

[Yuki: One question at a time;;]

[Yuki: The move went fine, and the house is nice. Super clean.]

[Yuki: And I’ve already installed Eden.]

    [Rin: Thank goodness.]

“This girl… why’s she so hyped?”

Well, not that I couldn’t understand.

If a tech nerd gets to play a cyberpunk-themed game, not getting excited would be the weirder part.

Considering how awkward things were between us just last month, Rin’s energy today was totally off the charts.

It wasn’t my first time seeing her get this hyped, but seeing someone who normally speaks all formal suddenly act this excited…

    It felt… different, somehow…

    [7:52 PM]

    Time had flown by.

Only 8 minutes until the stream—time to get things rolling.

[Rin: Shall we start streaming now?]

    [Yuki: Yup.]

[Yuki: Let’s turn it on and put up the waiting screen first.]

I launched my streaming software and began setting things up.

First time playing a AAA title.

With all the money poured into this, the quality and playtime were bound to be high.

It probably wouldn’t be a one-stream game. This one would need multiple sessions.

    [Yuki: I’m going live now.]

    [Rin: Okay!]

[Rin: I’ll connect the call right away!]

    [Yuki: Got it.]

    [Rin#9273]

    [Incoming call…]

    “Hello? Can you hear me?”

    “Yeah. Going live?”

    “Yes, yes. Let’s do it.”

As soon as Rin said that, I hit the stream button.

And just like that, our first Eden collab began.

    [Yuki has started a livestream!]

[【EDen】Wake the f*ck up, SAMURAI. Let’s burn the city down. 【Yuki/Rin/Lunaverse】]

    [21,000 viewers watching]

    – 11111

    – Seated!

    – First!

    – Yukigenyo~

    – Eden stream HYPEEEEE

    – Yukigen

    – Yukigenyo!!

The chat exploded the moment the stream went live.

Since Rin and I both went live at the same time, the viewership was a little lower than during previous collabs.

Still, I could understand why some of my Yukidan flocked to Rin’s side.

    But even so…

If you switch sides like a reed swaying in the wind, Yuki-chan…

Gets a little hurt, you know?

Might just memorize your username out of jealousy and hit you with a ban. Just sayin’.

    ……

    Let’s just stream.

    “Yukigenyo~ Hello everyone! It’s your girl, Yuki-chan!”

“Konnatsuki! I am Natsuki Rin, the swordswoman who cleaves moonlight.”

    – Yukigen~

    – Konnatsuki!

    – “Kon”

    – okgㅇ

    – Yukigenyo!

    – Konnatsuki!

“The game we’re playing today is called ‘Eden.’ I heard it’s trending right now—is that true?”

“It’s still trending. Almost at the tail end, though.”

“Then I’m glad I didn’t miss the wave.”

    – For real, a few more days and it would’ve been too late

    – Eden on

    – Finally, Yuki plays Eden!!!

    – Eden seems like Rin’s kind of thing

    – fr lol

    – Haha Rin-sama is such a tech nerd lol

“Yup, it was Rin’s idea to play this.”

“T-That’s not quite right! You were the one who said you’d download Eden, and then you asked if we should collab…”

“Yeah, I just asked if I should get it, remember?”

    “W-Was that so?”

    “Yup.”

    – lololol

    – Rin is cute

    – She’s like an otaku in her element

    – lmaooo

    – Yeah Rin totally initiated this

    “I-I did not tempt her!!”

“Just accept it. You totally lured me in.”

“I-I told you, I did NOT!!”

“Anyway, let’s get the game started. At this rate we’ll never finish the stream.”

I ignored Rin, who kept denying everything, and began streaming the gameplay.

The sleek cyberpunk logo spelling ‘EDen.’

The title screen, based on the idea of paradise, was stunning.

Neon lights and floating structures filled the sky—it reminded me of a futuristic Laputa.

“Hey, is this like Shadow House? Can we play multiplayer?”

“Yes. This time the room setup is a bit tricky, so I created the session in advance.”

“Ooh, so I just need to join?”

“Correct. I’ll give you the code—come in right away.”

    – A martial artist who likes cyberpunk… rare sight

    – Heavenly Demon Laser~~~

    – lololol

    – Rin-sama is seriously an angel

I entered the code Rin sent via DM and joined the multiplayer server.

The game began, and the first thing to appear was the customization screen.

As expected of a AAA game, character customization was wide open.

“Just rush through the avatar setup. We need to move fast.”

“Wait, wait—just give me five, no ten minutes. For Yuki-chan, this is a critical decision!”

    – lmao so true

    – Character customization IS critical

    – “For Yuki-chan” I’m dead lol

    – lolol

    – Is she making another bald one?

“I… I don’t see why it matters. You barely even see the character while playing.”

“Even if I don’t see it, it still needs to be pretty. You know what they say—good-looking food tastes better, right?”

    Customization is a serious matter.

If the avatar isn’t cute, the game just doesn’t feel right.

If I were a hardcore player, I’d have just slapped on some pink skin and called it a day. But since it’s my first time, I wanted to do it right.

“Haah… Fine. You get five minutes.”

    “Yesss!”

After negotiating with Rin, I dove into customizing my character.

I based the face on typical anime proportions.

Lowered the face, made the eyes bigger—super deformed style.

Increased the head size and shrank the body for a 5-to-6 head-tall ratio.

Hair color: #E0E0E0. A light silver long style with warm-tone highlights.

Hair style: a slightly tomboyish ponytail.

Used black hair accessories to recreate the ribbons I usually wear on my twin tails.

Then, after adjusting the eye and skin tones…

    “Tada!! Yuki-chan, complete!!”

    – ooooh

    – Ponytail kawaii

    – Wow… she’s a customization pro

    – If only there was a ponytail costume

    – She made it look like her model in under a minute

    – But the proportions are cursed

    – lol yeah

    – This isn’t the Yuki-chan we know!!

    [Resporusaemo has donated ₩5,000!]

    – Um… sorry, but it kinda looks like an orangutan.

“I know. But it was fast, right?”

    It was fast.

I managed to create something vaguely resembling Yuki in under a minute.

Sure, the features and proportions were jacked, but…

Shouldn’t I get points for speed?

    “…Being fast isn’t everything.”

“I was gonna fix the proportions anyway. I’m not playing with an orangutan.”

I’d focused on color choices first, so I hadn’t touched the proportions yet.

I quickly fixed the distorted facial features and body structure.

Aligned the eyes, adjusted the jaw and cheekbones, tucked in the forehead…

    After about 5 minutes—

    – oooh

    – It’s Yuki-chan!!

    – 5252, Zenzai!! I knew you’d pull through!!

    – She did it

    – lololol

    – Yuki-chan! Yuki-chan! Yuki-chan!

My character looked just like my model.

The outfit—a leather coat—was nothing like my dress, but that didn’t matter.

What mattered was the cute silver-haired, red-eyed ponytailed girl on the screen.

“Wait a sec. Just one more thing to set.”

Since it’s a cyberpunk setting, just being a pretty girl wouldn’t cut it, right?

If we’ve got cool mechanical parts, might as well go all out.

I opened the “Mechanical Parts” tab to check what was available.

Robot arms, prosthetic legs, artificial eyes—tons of parts to choose from.

I replaced my character’s left eye with a glowing blue cyber-eye.

It wasn’t too over-the-top, but still gave off major style points.

It contrasted perfectly with the natural red eye, enhancing the futuristic vibe.

“If I mix blue and red like this, it symbolizes political neutrality.”

    – ?

    – Huh? What is she talking about?

    – Political neutrality?

    – Has she lost it lol

    – She’s nuts

    – Red~ and blue~

[Failed Art School Kim Taeyang has donated ₩5,000!]

    – This one’s suspiciously good at being politically neutral wwwww

“Enough nonsense. If you’re done with customization, let’s start.”

    “Okay, okay~”

I’d already spent 10 minutes on customization.

Since I usually stream for 2–3 hours, time was running short.

I finished up and hit the start button.

The screen went black, then lit up again with my character in a coat.

    [Me: Lize!!]

    A silver-haired girl chased after a black-haired girl.

But the girl called Lize didn’t look back, running toward the light.

    “Hmm… is this the opening?”

“Yes. It was in the trailer too.”

    “Can I skip it?”

“Unfortunately, no. But it’s short—might as well watch.”

    “…Tch.”

    – Skip lol

    – hahahaha

    – Classic Korean trait

    – lmao

    – Yeah, if we can’t skip, we get impatient lol

    – True lol

    – Pure-hearted noob energy

Beyond the light stood shadowy figures waiting for her.

‘Me’ ran as hard as I could after Lize, but couldn’t catch up.

    Step.

Lize stepped over the threshold of the light.

Realizing it was too late, ‘Me’ stared blankly at the entrance.

    Lize turned back and said,

    [Lize: …I’m sorry.]

And with that, she disappeared into the light.

    [Me: Lizeeeeee!!!!]

The silver-haired girl screamed, reaching out.

Then she pushed off the ground and leapt toward the light.

The screen was washed in white light—

    BAM!

A loud crash. The screen went black again.

    [Me: Ugh… Where am I…]

The screen lit up again with blinking-eye effects.

All around was an endless landscape of garbage.

    Nothing else moved—except one thing.

    Clank.

    A metal-clad human beside her.

No—could you even call that human?

It looked like a superhero suit.

A glowing core in the chest, body fully mechanical, armor everywhere.

Even the sleek helmet had slits glowing with the same color as the core.

    “Ah… Awaawa…”

    “Yuki? What’s wrong?”

    “Y-You… Your customization…”

    – Eh

    – What the…

    – Did she make a Rider?!

    – Holy…

    – LOL

    – That customization tho…

    – Rider appears!

    – Rider Kick!!!!!!

    – lolol

    – She literally turned the whole body into robot parts;;;

    That’s right.

Rin’s customized character was decked out entirely in robot parts.

She looked just like a transformed tokusatsu hero.

(TL note: Tokusatsu (特撮) is a Japanese term that translates to special effects”.)

    Yeah…

    That was definitely…

    [No License has donated ₩10,000!]

    – RIDER TRANSFORMATION!!!!!!!!
