    Chapter 336

    Chapter 336

    Otherworld Demon King Survival Guide.

    Episode 336: Dimensional Monsters (4)

“Battle is imminent! Hold the defensive line and annihilate the enemy!”

    “Keryaaaak!”

Shouting loudly, I put on my helmet.

The enemy had anti-air capabilities. In other words, they could launch long-range attacks.

Since I didn’t know the enemy’s identity yet, I’d climb to the platform to observe their approach directly. Of course, if I got shot in the head while doing so, it was over. Hence, the helmet was crucial.

Anyway, let’s scrutinize the enemy and make a cold judgment.

    —Tutututututu!

From beyond the horizon, something began kicking up dust as it charged forward. Were they finally here? Well, it didn’t matter who they were. Come face my Demon King’s Army.

    “Kerrrgh…!”

    “Krkkk!”

My soldiers began to tense up.

Now then. Let’s see what these so-called Dimensional Beasts were all about.

    “Kaaaaaaahhhhh!!!”

Infusing my voice with magic, I roared to raise the soldiers’ morale while focusing magic in my eyes to observe the enemy.

    —Squirm, squirm!

    “Oh, shit!”

At first glance, grotesque creatures were rushing in. They were bizarre monsters with eyeballs the size of pumpkins, covered in wriggling tentacles behind them.

    “Eyeball monsters!”

Beneath those eyeballs were mouths resembling those of snails! I couldn’t shake the feeling that getting caught by them would spell disaster.

    “They’re flying!”

And these eyeball monsters were gliding at low altitude…! Watching their tentacles whip through the air as they moved felt mind-numbing.

    But that wasn’t all.

    —Dududududu!

    The ground.

From the ground, others were charging forward. These ones had bodies resembling a shrunken, flesh-colored sphere with ostrich-like legs, creating a grotesque appearance.

    —Dududududu!

Using their powerful legs, they sprinted toward us…! Wait, did they even have faces? No eyes, nose, or mouth—just a lump of flesh with legs.

The spear struck the creature’s open maw with precision, causing it to stagger backward.

“Karuti! Are those the Dimensional Beasts?!”

“No, this is the first time I’ve seen them! Brother Kyuse, they seem to have been modified to cross dimensions efficiently!”

“They really know how to commit atrocities! Anyway, everyone, don’t be afraid! They’re just monsters made of bare flesh! No spears, swords, or armor! Slaughter them all!”

    —Keryaaaaak!

    —Kerrrrk!

    The goblins roared.

“Serinu! Shoot down those eyeballs! Spread out in squads and annihilate them!”

    “Got it!”

    —Vwooong!

As Serinu gave the order, pixies spread out and began firing Wind Cutters.

    “Disgusting creatures!”

    “Just die already!”

    “These aren’t Evil Eyes!”

    —Fwip, fwip!

    The high-speed magical blades.

    —Thwack!

Pierced the pupils of the tentacle eyeball monsters perfectly.

    —Squelch.

The flying ones crashed to the ground and were trampled and crushed by the charging flesh-ostriches behind them.

Good. Our attacks were working effectively on them.

    “Queeeak!”

    “Grooooaaak!”

Strange cries echoed. A mindless, reckless charge. Soon, the flesh-ostriches were nearing us.

    “Kerk!”

    “Kerk!”

At the goblins’ war cries, the flesh-ostriches collided with the large shields.

    —Boom!

    —Thud!

A horrific sound of flesh being crushed.

    “Stab them! Kill them! Kerrrk!”

    “Keryaaak!”

The goblins, overtaken by madness, thrust their spears at the flesh-ostriches, tearing them apart.

    —Slash!

    —Splatter!

With no armor or shell to protect their bare flesh, the spears easily pierced through, spilling their innards.

    —Riiip!

At that moment, one flesh-ostrich jumped high and spread the flesh on its face in four directions, revealing a gaping maw…!

    “Vanessa!”

    “Got it!”

    —Clink!

Vanessa, standing nearby, took a throwing stance.

    —Whoosh!

And hurled her spear with all her might.

    —Boom!

The spear flew swiftly and struck the creature’s throat dead center. Nice! The flesh-ostrich fell.

    “Kill them all, Kerk!”

“Kill them all! Leave none alive!”

    —Splatter!

    —Slash!

Similar battles broke out along all defensive lines.

    “Groooaaak!”

    “Keryaaaak!”

The mindless charging flesh-ostriches were halted by the large shields, then pierced by spears. Meanwhile, the eyeball monsters gliding leisurely were shot down with Wind Cutters to their pupils.

    —Thud!

    —Thud!

Some were crushed into pulp by the massive fists of the central Mud Golem.

However, the Plant Towers placed in position proved largely useless. The seeds they launched were simply ignored, and the Venus Flytrap Plants could only catch one before becoming ineffective.

    “Good! Everything’s going smoothly!”

The defensive line was solid, ensuring a stable battle.

“Damn, they’re disgusting… Are these really demons?”

    Reika, standing beside me, frowned.

“Even in the Demon Realm, we don’t know much about them.”

If Karuti didn’t know, they must be experimental new weapons or something.

    “Master, they’re so gross…!”

    “Ugh. Truly horrifying.”

    “I agree.”

    Honestly, they were revolting.

    “Wait a moment.”

    Just then.

    “Hold on.”

    Vanessa spoke.

    “Yes? Vanessa, is something wrong?”

“Something feels off. These creatures… they don’t seem particularly strong.”

    “That’s true.”

“But how did this city fall? Honestly, with monsters of this caliber, they should have been able to either escape or resist to some extent.”

    That was it.

    “Keryaaaak!”

    “Guooaaak!”

I turned my eyes back to the battlefield.

My well-armed and trained soldiers were slaughtering the mindless flesh monsters. Frankly, these creatures didn’t even have any steel plating over their flesh. They were far too easy an opponent.

It was like wild beasts of inferior size recklessly charging at a heavy infantry phalanx. Dangerous, sure, but there was no way we would lose.

Could it be that they overwhelmed the city with sheer numbers?

“And who blocked the gate? Did those stupid flesh monsters somehow think, ‘Let’s block the gate’ and then do it? There has to be some kind of commander. And if there is a commander, they wouldn’t waste their forces so mindlessly.”

    Vanessa’s point was valid.

Could it be a second wave?

Were they planning to launch a second assault with stronger elite units?

    And a commanding entity…

“Could it be there’s some kind of mothership or origin creature producing these monsters and commanding them? If so, this offensive could be a ploy to exhaust us.”

“We should definitely consider that possibility.”

    For now, reconnaissance.

    “Serinu, come here.”

    “Huh, yeah?! What is it?”

“Fly higher and check if there’s anything else approaching.”

    “Got it!”

Anxiety began to creep in. What was going on? Why did this city fall to something as pathetic as those flesh monsters?

The battle remained one-sided. My soldiers were dispatching the grotesque creatures with ease.

    —Vwooong!

    Soon, Serinu descended.

“More enemies are approaching! But I don’t see anything unusual!”

    “Anything bigger or more dangerous?”

    “I didn’t see anything!”

If Serinu didn’t see it, then it wasn’t there—yet.

“Is the second wave going to arrive late?”

At that moment, something peculiar caught my eye on the battlefield.

    “Huh?”

The shredded entrails and corpses of the flesh monsters began to writhe on the ground, then slowly floated upward, as if gravity had reversed. What the hell?!

    “Imsoong!”

    They were trying to regenerate!

Wait, but wasn’t Imsoong sent up earlier?!

    “Imsoong’s right there!”

Serinu pointed to the rooftop of a building.

“Alright! Serinu! Tell Imsoong to lob grenades at them!”

I immediately issued commands to the reserve imps.

“Guys! Grenade launch! They’re trying to regenerate!”

    “Krrrrk?! Grenades toward those bastards!”

    “Krrrrrrrk!”

The imps, waiting in reserve, instantly conjured fireballs and began hurling them. This was a drill we had practiced countless times. My imps were sharpshooters among sharpshooters, their primary role being fire support from behind the goblin phalanx.

    —Boom!

    —Boom, boom!

Explosions erupted all over the battlefield.

    —Fwoooosh!

    Flames roared to life.

    “Qyaaahhh!”

    “Kyaaaaak!”

The floating flesh pieces and charging creatures alike were engulfed in fire, screaming in agony. These bastards… they had been hiding something. Regenerating flesh? Was this how they compensated for their low combat strength?

To think they kept such a trick hidden. If they were to feign death and then endlessly regenerate to continue their assault, it could indeed be dangerous.

“That was close, Brother Kyuse! Regeneration, of all things!”

“Yeah. Not knowing the enemy’s abilities is incredibly dangerous.”

“Exactly! Ah! Brother Kyuse, look over there!”

    At that moment.

    —Squaash!

In the left alley, where the imps’ firepower was weaker, a massive amount of flesh began floating and coalescing around an eyeball monster. The flesh was rapidly forming into a larger mass!

    —Crunch!

    —Crack!

In no time, the lump of flesh grew to the size of a medium car!

    “Kerk! What’s that?!”

At that size, neither the imps nor the pixies could take it down, and even goblins with spears would hardly make a dent!

“So, these creatures had this ability too.”

    —Crunch!

    —Crack!

The writhing flesh swelled larger, evolving into a new type of monster.

    —Fwoosh!

I immediately jumped down from the platform.

    “Master?!”

    “Hey!”

    “Demon King!”

The officers called after me from behind.

    “It’s fine.”

    Here and now.

“The Demon King will handle this personally.”

    —Goooo.

I gathered the surging magic within me. It had been a long time since I’d entered direct combat, but now, I could feel the growth in my power with absolute clarity.

    “Dark Flame…!”

Harnessing dark magic, I summoned flames to my palm.

“Karuti, watch closely. This is the power of a high-ranking demon.”

    “Unbelievable…! A high-ranking demon, Brother Kyuse?!”
