Chapter 28: The Domain of the Water Lord
by Afuhfuihgs<Can’t you go a single day without acting so insolently?!>
The Water God didn’t fully understand what the middle finger meant, but he could tell it was an insult.
<Was it you who just attacked me?>
“That’s what I’m saying. Want me to show you some proof?”
Seyul pointed her spear.
She released mana through the spear and fired it like an arrow, attacking the Water God.
<Kh!>
This time, he barely managed to dodge thanks to being prepared in advance.
Still, he couldn’t help but be dumbfounded.
<You, you…>
The Water God was so shocked that he couldn’t even finish his sentence.
The level of impact was even greater than when Seyul first declared that she would fight him.
Back then, it had just been words.
But now, she was really attacking with the intent to kill.
<Are you truly trying to fight me?>
“You tried to kill me multiple times first, and now you’re acting like I’m the unreasonable one? “
“What, am I just supposed to sit back and take it?”
Seyul shouted, truly enraged.
She would have killed him last time if he hadn’t run away.
And yet, he came back just to pull more dirty tricks.
If she let him off again, she wouldn’t be a dragon just a pushover.
“I will kill you.”
<You talk big.>
“The first thing I’ll do is rip that loud mouth of yours apart. “
“Then, I’ll crush your limbs so you can’t move. “
“After that, I’ll beat you to a pulp until your entire body bursts apart, making sure you can’t run away.”
Seyul was overflowing with murderous intent.
The Water God instinctively took a step back, feeling the immense killing intent directed at him.
<Wh-what kind of human exudes this level of bloodlust?>
It was far beyond what any mere human should be capable of.
For a moment, he even had the illusion that a being far above him was determined to kill him.
<No matter how strong you are, do you really think a human can kill me?>
Trying to hide his fear, the Water God spoke in an arrogant tone.
But Seyul didn’t hesitate for even a second before answering.
“If you were a high-ranking god, maybe not. But a barely mid-tier god like you? Yeah, I’d say I have a shot.”
Seyul spoke coldly.
She wasn’t bluffing she had fought gods before in this world.
But to the Water God, who had no knowledge of that, her words sounded like baseless provocation.
<You dare call me a mid-tier god?!>
He was one of the five gods in his world’s warrior pantheon.
To him, that essentially made him the highest god.
So being called “mid-tier” made his blood boil with rage.
<Fine! Let’s do this! A one-on-one battle, fair and square I’ll kill you righ…>
As he raged, he suddenly looked down.
Despite putting in so much effort, all the monsters he had blessed were dead, their corpses strewn across the battlefield.
<…actually, this place isn’t a good battleground. If you really want to fight, come to my domain! That is, if you can even find it!>
Abruptly changing his words, the Water God vanished.
[He ran away again!]
The chat was filled with disbelief and frustration.
[He pulled this crap twice and ran off again?]
[What kind of nonsense is this?]
[He totally got scared and ran.]
[At least have the decency to fight after picking a fight yourself!]
[The Water God has top-tier survival instincts.]
[“If you can find me”]
[Translation: ‘Please don’t come find me. I’m scared.’]
[How the hell is she supposed to find him if she doesn’t know where he lives?]
Anyone who had played this game knew one thing nowhere in the game did it mention where the gods lived.
‘I swear, I’ll hunt you down and kill you!’
But Seyul wasn’t about to give up.
“Well done, Lady Seyul!”
Osman approached, ready to praise the hero who had led them to victory.
“Thanks to you, we all survived….”
“Hey, do you know where the Water God lives?”
Seyul cut him off, getting straight to the point.
“W-what? The Water God?”
Osman was utterly baffled.
Of all things, she was suddenly asking about the residence of a god.
“How would I possibly know that? A mere monster like me wouldn’t have such knowledge.”
“Then tell me where I can find someone who might.”
“Hm, someone who might know….”
Osman dug through his memories before speaking heavily.
“There is… one person.”
“Who is it?”
“One of the Five Lords, the Water Lord.”
An unfamiliar term made Seyul narrow her eyes.
“I don’t know much about you guys. Explain in detail.”
“The Five Lords are under the Demon King ah, but the term ‘king’ doesn’t mean the same thing as it does in the human world. “
“Anyway, they are the five most powerful monsters under his command.”
The Water Lord was one of these five, representing the element of water.
“She is probably the most powerful water-based monster among all existing creatures. “
“Since she also reigns over water, she should know where the Water God is.”
“Where does she live?”
“If you head in that direction”
Osman pointed in a general direction. After finishing the explanation, he suddenly spoke in a flustered voice.
“Wait, don’t tell me you’re going there right now?”
“Of course. Why?”
“But you haven’t received any rewards yet!”
This was unacceptable.
Seyul had resolved everything almost effortlessly.
After all the help she provided, letting her leave just like that didn’t make any sense.
“Please, even if it’s just for a few days, allow us to properly repay you. We’ll make sure you’re treated well.”
Osman desperately tried to stop her, but Seyul shook her head.
“I don’t need it. I never expected a reward in the first place.”
It was useless to her. Right now, dealing with the Water God took priority.
“That’s enough.”
Seeing Seyul’s unwavering determination, the Black Knight stepped in to stop Osman.
“She clearly has more important matters to attend to. If we try to hold her back, we would be repaying kindness with rudeness.”
“I suppose you’re right.”
The Black Knight had a point.
Trying to force her to stay would be nothing more than self-satisfaction.
Osman had no choice but to give up.
“We had some good times over the past few days.”
With slumped shoulders, Osman stepped back.
The Black Knight then approached Seyul.
“Well, you and I might cross paths again someday.”
“Oh yeah?”
“I’m a wanderer, just like you. It wouldn’t be strange if we met somewhere down the road.”
“True. I guess we could run into each other again.”
“So, I won’t call this a farewell. But before you go, I have one question. “
“That blue figure that made the monsters grow huge what was that? It looked similar to your summon.”
Of course, he had no idea it was an actual god.
As he stared at her in confusion, Seyul simply answered.
“Just some dumbass.”
With that, she turned away.
Having completed her business and said her farewells,
Seyul quickly set off to find the Water Lord and ask about the Water God’s whereabouts.
“Safe travels!”
“Thank you for your help!”
“We’ll never forget you!”
The monsters behind her cheered as they saw her off.
It was like villagers bidding farewell to a hero.
[Wait, aren’t these guys supposed to be monsters?]
[Oh, right.]
[I almost forgot because it felt so natural.]
From an outsider’s perspective, it looked ridiculous monsters celebrating the departure of a player who had just helped them.
Seyul continued toward the Water Lord’s territory.
Meanwhile, the chat was filled with excitement.
[Finally!]
[Finally (2)]
[We’re about to witness the Water God’s execution.]
[God-slaying route! God-slaying route!]
[We’ve been waiting for this moment!]
[She really has a short temper, huh?]
[After seeing her flip off a god, she’s definitely serious about this.]
[I wonder how the story will change if she actually kills a god!]
[Water God is done for!]
The idea of killing a god was already shocking.
But the fact that it was the Water God someone no one would feel guilty about killing only made it more exhilarating.
Most viewers eagerly anticipated Seyul’s god slaying moment.
[Will the Water Lord just tell her, though?]
However, a few had their concerns.
[Everyone’s so focused on the Water God that they forgot something important.]
[Getting to the Water Lord in the first place is a nightmare-level challenge.]
[You’re not even supposed to come here until much later.]
[This is a mid-boss of the game.]
The Demon King was the final boss, the warrior of the gods.
Below him were the Five Lords, serving as mid-bosses.
Naturally, their territories weren’t places one could casually visit.
[Unless you’re fully geared with endgame-level enhancements, you shouldn’t even think about coming here.]
[The Water Lord is dangerous, but her subordinates are just as bad.]
[You might get wiped out before even meeting her.]
[Are they really that strong?]
[Yeah, incredibly strong.]
[The Water Lord and her subordinates belong to the strongest race in the game.]
As the chat discussed the terrifying foes Seyul was about to face, it seemed as if their words had summoned fate itself.
<The Lake of Purity!>
<A domain ruled by the one who stands at the pinnacle of all water monsters.>
<Abandon all hope, for those who enter shall not leave.>
<The Water Lord and her kin are undoubtedly the strongest race.>
<No matter how much you struggle, victory is impossible.>
A foreboding narration played.
This only happened when reaching an important location.
Its presence confirmed that Seyul had arrived.
‘So this is the Water Lord’s domain?’
Wearing a slightly odd expression, Seyul scanned her surroundings.
Before her lay a vast lake.
A lake so breathtakingly beautiful that it exuded an almost divine aura strange, considering it was the home of monsters.
“What the…?”
Seyul was baffled by the sight.
It wasn’t that she disliked the lake.
On the contrary.
She liked it far too much.
A peculiar sensation washed over her, as if she had arrived in a place that perfectly suited her.
Still caught off guard by the eerie familiarity, she suddenly heard a voice.
“Who are you? Do you even realize that this is our territory Melusine’s domain?!”
A woman abruptly emerged from the lake, snapping at Seyul in a sharp tone.
Her sudden appearance left Seyul wide-eyed in surprise.
