Chapter 263: Epilogue – A Story of a Certain Future
by Afuhfuihgs
Whatever the event, time eventually turns it into a legend.
It took quite a long time for the kingdom’s scars to fade, but people could laugh again. They could mention the hero Wolf with chuckles or bring up fond memories recalling Evan, the first king of the new kingdom.
Near the royal palace, elderly people leisurely strolled the streets. In a memorial hall a short distance away, there was a large mural. Children gathered closely in front of it, pointing at the painting and chirping like chicks.
The teacher, elderly and wearing glasses, smiled as she explained about the mural.
“Yes. Everyone. This painting depicts the time when Evan-nim, the first king and hero, defeated the evil demon.”
The dramatic scene of stabbing the demon from behind stirred heroism even in the children’s hearts. The sight of Saint Lumia grabbing the demon’s arms and chanting spells was a sacred image representing the church itself.
“Teacher! What are these white marks in the painting?”
Around the demon, a pure white liquid was scattered as if paint had been splattered. The teacher said,
“They say that at the very moment the demon was vanquished, its blood boiled up, turned into holy water, and scattered everywhere. People praised Evan-nim while being showered by the shining holy water.”
“Amazing. Teacher. But why didn’t the hero continue to rule the kingdom and just disappear?”
The teacher made an awkward face. It was because she couldn’t answer the children’s questions. The first Saint Lumia and the first King Evan. And the heroes, including those two, who saved the country, had suddenly handed over their positions to their successors and disappeared one day, as if by prior arrangement.
“Well. Why do you think they did that?”
The teacher turned her head and looked at the kingdom’s plaza. The figure of Evan, majestically holding his sword aloft, wore a brilliant smile.
People were gathered in an old country tavern. A nerdy-looking man wearing glasses flapped a newspaper and said,
“See! I’m telling you, those monsters might have been summoned by Hero Evan! Look here. There are people who saw these monsters near the mansion where Flancia Isabel lived. Huh? Maybe Evan intentionally did it to slander Hero Wolf. Huh?”
It was a story about the giant monsters that invaded the capital on the day of the final battle. His companions, drinking with the man, were busy looking around with awkward faces every time he spun a sensational story.
“What the hell are you talking about, idiot? If you’re drunk, just go to sleep.”
“Hey! I’m not drunk! What do you mean drunk! Huh? Hero Evan really the demon…”
The nerdy man couldn’t continue speaking. A man drinking at the next table had just smacked him on the back of the head. Face-planted into his soup bowl, the nerdy man blinked and turned his head. The muscular man, sporting a bushy beard and chewing meat noisily, said,
“What the hell are you looking at, bastard?”
“Ah, well, that’s…”
The nerdy man looked around. Everyone was staring at the bespectacled man with the same look in their eyes. He quietly ate his soup, refraining from any more loud talk.
“I-it’s tasty…”
“Fuck, look at this atmosphere you’ve created.”
The companions grumbled, scolding the nerdy man for his reckless behavior. From a corner seat, a man wearing a hood pulled low watched the nerdy man intently, then asked the man sitting next to him.
“People who talk like that seem quite common.”
Despite being addressed by a stranger, the drinker nodded and replied politely.
“They’re all crazy bastards. Back during Hero Wolf’s time, it really didn’t feel like people were living, and yet they spread such nonsense. Youngsters are like this, it’s no good.”
“And if it were true, what would you do?”
The drinker looked at the hooded man, showing discomfort. He wondered if he himself wasn’t one of the ‘youngsters’ the drinker was talking about. Knowing the misunderstanding his gaze might hold, the man replied politely.
“Hypothetically speaking. Strictly hypothetically, if Hero Evan had such a sin, what would you do?”
“Would anything really change? Whatever he did, it was far better than Wolf’s time. When I think about how scummy those guys from the Hero family were back then, I still shudder. D-do you know there was a guy named Orland in that Hero family? The women he raped while attending the academy alone would almost fill an oxcart. And yet, just because he caught some demons up north, he tried to act like the ruler of that town.”
“Indeed.”
The hooded man downed his drink and nodded. The drinker, seeing the man drinking alone, clicked his tongue, then poured him some from his own bottle, and they toasted. The glasses clinked with a kkaeng sound, and the drinker wiped his lips with his sleeve.
“Recently, I heard the news that since Wolf died, they’re purging the remnants of the Hero family, and Orland was kicked out, apparently. It’s a good thing. How many parents are grinding their teeth because of that guy, and how many nobles are sharpening their knives-can he really just live well on his own? In the end, wasn’t the reason he got so far because the Hero family filled his belly?”
“That’s right. What you say is true.”
The drinker asked the hooded man while taking a drink.
“Sir, you sound like you think it’s unfair that the man named Orland was kicked out.”
“Who knows.”
“Apparently, Orland governed quite well in the north, and they even protested, saying not to take him away. But is that something we should care about? He should have drawn the line. After all, he lived his life as Orland of the Hero family, didn’t he?”
The hooded man took a sip of his drink and looked back at the drinker. The drinker grinned, and the man nodded and said.
“That’s right. He committed too many sins. It was his mistake to think that just catching demons would be atonement. He should have gone to those people and apologized on his knees.”
“That’s already too late, isn’t it? Orland?”
Orland looked back at the drinker. His eyes, hazy with alcohol, now held a clear killing intent. Orland twisted his body, trying to jump up from his seat, but suddenly several large men approached and grabbed his shoulders. Along with the smell of alcohol, a faint scent of blood pierced his nose.
“Nnngh…!”
Before Orland could resist, sharp, elongated daggers stabbed his side repeatedly. The purple-tinged daggers turned black upon contact with blood, Orland’s face turned pale blue, then purple again, and he buried his face in the appetizer plate while clutching the table.
The drinker said,
“Even if you run from your sins, the price will surely follow.”
He said that and downed more drink. Then, lifting Orland’s bluish eyelids, he said,
“When you get to the afterlife, at least apologize to my daughter.”
Leisurely afternoon sunlight dominated the world.
Isabel was spending her time leisurely tending the garden, and Elena was humming a tune while doing housework. Looking out at the yard, Lorena was practicing swordsmanship, and Sophia, who came out to watch because she was bored, was counting for her instead.
Alice was reading the newspaper, while Sylvia and Milia were chatting as they researched magic.
Taffy slept with his head on my lap, and Petunia Titi hesitantly tried on a maid outfit. The white stockings and fluttering attire seemed quite unfamiliar to her.
“E-Evan? I-is this okay?”
“Lift the skirt up.”
Hearing my command, Petunia Titi lifted her skirt with a face full of embarrassment. The characteristic white line of the pantyhose and the protruding panty line excited me. I lowered my posture in front of Petunia Titi, then bit her stockings with my mouth and pulled them down.
“Ahh…!”
Each time my breath touched her pubic area, Petunia trembled slightly, making a pained sound.
I massaged her buttocks and said,
“From now on, you are the maid of this mansion. A maid who will do housework with Elena and have sex with me.”
“Nngh…!”
Happiness was evident on Petunia Titi’s face. I massaged her buttocks again and raised my head to look out the window.
The giant rift was closing its mouth and fading away. The final link connecting the demon world and this land was disappearing. Like zipping up a coat, beyond the slowly fading space, Lilith was approaching, waving her hand.
Taffy woke up, unbuckled my belt, and asked,
“Evan. Giving up the throne. Don’t you regret it?”
“I don’t regret it.”
As expected, being king wasn’t my job. There were many people in the world more suited to be king than a human like me, who is weak to temptation. The king chosen as my successor seemed to be managing the kingdom with sound politics in his own way.
Saying that, I waved my hand towards the yard. Lorena, who was exercising, was startled, blushed, and said this.
“I, I’ll just take a shower and come back!”
Sophia giggled and came into the room first, while Milia and Sylvia, sensing the atmosphere in the house, knocked. Alice’s voice was heard from the first-floor lobby.
“Ah, that’s unfair! Dad!”
Elena, who had been tending the garden, walked into the house muttering ‘Perverts’ while untying her maid outfit ribbon. Isabel came up the stairs with a shy expression. Rat Trap slowly approached, and Lumia, who was in the study, came outside.
I closed my eyes, overwhelmed by the intense pleasure felt from my penis.
When I close my eyes and open them again,
A happy scene that will continue forever into the future flows before my eyes.
