    Chapter 261

    Otherworld Demon King Survival Guide.

Episode 261: Conquering The Barony (17)

“Ha ha ha! Lilriel! Show us what you’ve got!”

    “Understood!”

    —Flash!

Angels, crouching behind the goblins, casted Dark Flame spells. Their expressions reveal that they were swept up in the excitement of battle.

    “Haaaap!”

“The power to destroy that barrier…!”

Though overpowered by pixies last time, they were now the hunters. The joy of victory. The thrill. All these sensations fused in their hands.

    “Fire!!!”

As the firing command was issued,

    —Zeeeeng!

    —Zeeeeng!

The dark flames of the fallen angels arc through the air.

    —Boom!!!

If imps were riflemen, then angels would be mortarmen. As the Dark Flame hit the barricade, a massive explosion followed. The barricade was shattered, and a soldier behind it was killed.

“Indeed! So powerful! To think angels have this much strength!”

“Ha, hahaha! Have you finally realized? Now, give me the company commander position!”

    “Understood! I’ll consider it positively!”

The strength of the angels was no mere talk. Their firepower was overwhelming. Although the casting time was a bit long and energy consumption high, not to mention the range wasn’t very long, their destructive power was beyond a cavalry charge.

Even if the lamias charged with all their might and speared the walls, they couldn’t destroy them. It was expected. But the angels could.

    “Short-range destruction power is unmatched.”

Going forward, the angels would be developed with a focus on firepower. Stronger than riflemen in any case.

“Lilriel. Can you increase the range of the Dark Flame?”

“If you enhance our power. Specifically, we need to absorb more of your magic.”

    “Exactly.”

    The answer was anal sex.

“Now, anyway! Look! The baron’s forces are no match for us! With our firepower, we can easily crush them!”

    “Kerrrrrrgh!”

    “Krrrrrgh!”

They kept winning as they ascended.

The baron’s soldiers diligently built barricades and retreated, resisting, but with just these soldiers, defending the castle was impossible.

    —Whoosh!

    —Boom!

Everything was simply destroyed by the imps’ firebombs and the angels’ Dark Flame as they continued to retreat.

    Anyway, they kept ascending.

“Hmm… this building is quite spacious.”

They found spaces like halls and dining rooms.

The fortress was a reasonably large building. Naturally, such facilities existed.

There were soldiers’ barracks, halls where they could gather, a dining area, even a large bath, and restrooms. Interestingly, there was a device that could pull water up to the higher floors, as turning the faucet in the restroom produced water.

    “Impressive.”

“Heh, fascinating, isn’t it? That’s human civilization for you. Even in such a high building, water usage is easy.”

Seeing the restroom and being amazed was like boasting about one’s nation, perhaps?

Being from modern times myself, I was not particularly surprised. It was rather the presence of such water supply facilities in the baron’s castle that amazed me.

“How do such things exist here?”

“There’s a complex device built in. It draws water from underground. And just so you know, it’s not sewage water. It’s been purified, so it’s safe to use.”

    A water purification facility, too?

Well, it’s a world with magic, so such technology was expected. But such modern facilities… interesting. It’d make life a bit easier from now on.

Honestly, the environment here was better than in a dungeon or cave. Especially less dusty.

“Excellent. If we control this facility, we can surely grow much larger. Soon, we’ll even collect taxes… Hehehe. Let’s make good use of it.”

So we took a short rest here before regrouping.

“The baron must be on the top floor. Unless there’s a secret passage I don’t know about, he’ll lock the door and hold out until he thinks of surrendering.”

    “Surrender.”

“In a war among nobles, if the opposing side surrenders, they must be treated accordingly.”

“Hehehe, Lady Vanessa. I am not a noble but a demon king. So, what should we do?”

We obviously must follow local customs.

Or at least pretend to. If I, as a demon king, blatantly disregarded human customs, I couldn’t rally the anti-angel faction.

I must think like a human.

From now on, my stage was here in the human world. It was necessary to adhere to human customs.

“You must have thought this through.”

“Of course. We must follow human customs. We need to form an alliance with the anti-angel faction soon, and ignoring customs could cost us their trust.”

“Oh, wow… did you think that far? Impressive.”

Vanessa nodded. She knew it all.

Anyway, after capturing the baron, I’d throw him in a makeshift jail and get various kinds of help from him. He’d have to live in prison from now on.

    While contemplating this.

“My lord. Isn’t this facility impressive? I just realized, there’s something great about this place.”

    Buril spoke in admiration.

“It’s completely different from the dungeon’s dirt walls. Right?”

    “Isn’t it?”

Buril and others took a break and regained some strength, and it seemed their minds became clearer as other subordinates also looked around, continuously marveling.

For monsters who had lived their entire lives in the jungle, this artificial fortress must seem truly wondrous.

“Human beings live in such places.”

    “It’s truly amazing! Heh!”

    “Heh…!”

    The goblins were purely admiring.

“Yes! Exactly! And there are so many rooms!”

    “It’s full of hiding spots!”

“Let’s drive out all the humans and play hide and seek!”

    “Yay!”

    The pixies were simply ecstatic.

    “Gyusassass.”

“My lord, is there no soil to sell here?”

    “It’s outside.”

    “Gyusaaaaat!”

“Hehehe, hey Imsoong. Did you rest well?”

“Krrrk! No problem! Ready for more rifling!”

    “Good!”

    Shall we advance again?

“Alright! Everyone’s rested! Let’s head up again!”

    “Kerrrrrgh!”

    Let’s go!

After a few more battles, we reached the top floor where the baron’s office was. Not a single casualty on the way.

“The door is closed. Lilriel. Go call the landlord, please.”

    “Understood. Dark Flame loaded!”

    —Whoosh!

The fallen angels casted skillfully. Soon, they completed the Dark Flame and used it to knock.

    —Boom!

    Dust rose.

What appeared with the shattered door was…

    “They’re here…!”

    “It’s them!”

    “That army!”

Scattered barricades and heavily armed soldiers surrounded a man in full plate armor at their center.

    That man was the baron.

    “Lady Vanessa?”

    “It’s him.”

    Soon, the baron shouted.

“Who are you people? How dare you attack us so cowardly in the middle of the night! Have you no honor?”

    There’s no point in answering.

“I am Baron Fickel! As a noble, I wish to negotiate with you! Let the representative come forth!”

Words were to be ignored. Negotiations or not, we would capture him. Let’s see. Any escape routes? Apparently, there were none. He clearly intended to make his last stand here and negotiate.

    “Hmm.”

If we weren’t here for a surprise attack, we could just retreat and wait for them to weaken from hunger. That would mean winning without a fight.

But there was no time for that. I needed to take control of this place as soon as possible.

    Then, we must fight.

“Imsoong! They’re crying out from hunger!”

    “Krrrk! Awesome!”

    —Whoosh!

The moment the imps casted their firebombs.

“Look, look! A fireball is coming!”

    A soldier shouted.

It looked like they wouldn’t hold.

“I knew it! All forces, charge!”

And the baron gave the order to charge.

    A charge?

Well, in such a situation, it’s better to charge than to hide behind barricades and burn to death. But still, we had angels. It’s a poor decision… Well, they didn’t really have the luxury to consider that.

Negotiations had just broken down. If it’s a fight, we’d fight with all our might.

    —Aaaaah!

    —Aaaah!

    The armed soldiers charged.

But I was not the least bit afraid.

    “Lilriel!”

    “I’m watching!”

The angels were already casting. The completed Dark Flame was fired through the ranks of the baron’s forces.

    —Boom!

    It exploded nicely.

    “Aaaaaaah!”

    “Ahaaaaa!”

    “Cough!”

Taste the power of the Dark Flame that even the gates couldn’t withstand. The explosion sent soldiers flying, shattered, and fallen.

Now they could no longer fight.

    “Infantry, advance!”

    “Kerrrrgh!”

    And my infantry advanced.

    “Ahaaaaah! Save meeeeee!”

    “Khek! Die!”

As the shield bearers entered and struck down the fallen soldiers, my subordinates spread out into a wider room from the straight corridor, taking control of the baron’s office.

    We quickly took the initiative.

“How can this be…! What are these creatures!”

The baron, who was relatively unharmed at the back, was shocked.

    “Monsters! Are they monsters?”

I kept an eye on him. After all, the baron’s forces were no match. The surviving baron’s forces screamed and swung their weapons, but all were blocked by the shield bearers and then stabbed to death by the spearmen behind them.

“Vanessa. Keep an eye on the baron.”

    “I am already on it.”

“Shaah. Master. I am here too.”

    “Right.”

The baron was a formidable opponent.

If we were to suppress him without injury, we must deploy our experts. Well, that way, my subordinates knocked down all of the baron’s soldiers.

    They were simply no match.

The difference in morale was too great, and we were prepared. In contrast, they only retreated in despair.

    “Ah, ah…”

The baron did not even fight.

He just stood there in shock.

Shall we have a conversation now?

“Nice to meet you, Baron Fickel.”

As I moved behind the shield bearers to speak.

    “Who are you?”

The baron replied with a bewildered face.

“Well, that’s not important. Starting today, I might take over this barony. You’ll need to help out.”

    “What, what?”

    “Does that sound strange?”

“Such nonsense… You think you can take the barony by killing me? Don’t be foolish. What do you see as the basis of land ownership?”

“Ah, of course, I know all about it, Lord Fickel.”

“What do you mean you know…”

    I looked back.

“There. Is the saintess ready? Come this way.”

    “Understood.”

    “What?!”

The word ‘saintess’ shocked Baron Fickel.

    —Thud.

The saintess came and stood next to me.

    “Uh, uh…!”

The baron pointed at the saintess.

“What a pathetic sight, Baron Fickel.”

    “You, you wench!”

“You really tried to kill me.”

“Damn it! This witch! You really did bring the army of hell!”

The baron burst out in anger.

But he did not move rashly.

“Quiet down. I feel like killing you just by hearing your voice.”

    “Gasp…!”

“Ah. Saintess. Isn’t that too scary?”

“I was being pursued by these people.”

The saintess maintained a very cold attitude, evidently much affected by the ordeal. Such a side of the sister. I could feel the charisma.

“Baron Fickel. From now on, this barony will be ours. Precisely, this saintess here intends to make it so.”

“Ha! The witch talks big! This land has already received the angels’ blessing! Everyone already knows you’re a witch! No one will believe your words!”

    Baron Fickel shouted defiantly.

    “Hehehe, angels, huh. Lilriel?”

    “My turn to step in?”

We had angels on our side too.

    “What?! You people!”

As Lilriel stepped forward, Ariel and Luziel flanked her. Seeing them, the baron was shocked again.

“Ariel and Luziel are not dead?!”

    They were originally from here.

They had joined the baron’s reinforcements.

“Weren’t they killed?! What is this?! And the angels are on the saintess’s side?!”

    —Thump.

Suddenly, the baron knelt down, clutching his head and muttering.

“Angels on the saintess’s side?! A witch?! Why would angels do this?! Is it a trap? Have I fallen into a trap? Where did the trap start? Ah! Ahhhhh!”

The baron wailed… Honestly, it’s enough to drive one mad.

    I acknowledged that.
