Chapter 23 : Good Deal (3) (Part-2)
by fnovelpia
Hmm.
The route to Incheon Port must be tightly controlled by Geummyeong Group.
Would they only block Incheon?
Probably not.
They’d likely have sealed off Busan Port, Ulsan, and even tiny obscure ports too.
Cheol-woo was starting to feel dizzy.
He had personally shot and killed over 30 people already—how many people did they even have to make this kind of operation possible?
[Now that we’ve got Section Chief Jeong, are we planning to just punch through the checkpoints? If we have an armored vehicle, it might be doable.]
“No. Are you crazy? How could we possibly break through that?”
[…]
They had set up checkpoints and were holding the line—was he actually suggesting ramming through them?
Han Sa-jang was horrified.
After smashing both Section Chief Jeong and Director Park, did they now see everyone else as pushovers?
Like people who lose their sense of money after a few big scores, this guy seemed to have lost his sense of strategic awareness.
“And if it’s discovered that I’ve teamed up with you, my sister who’s still in Korea will be killed by Chief Yu. We need to go in quietly, discreetly. The plan is to take a yacht from the Yeouido marina, sail out through the Han River, and enter Incheon Port that way.”
[Will the yacht hold all the equipment? It’s just under one ton in total.]
“Hmm… Well, we only need to get to Incheon Port, so if we rent a large enough yacht, it should work. You’ll be able to take everything with you to Hong Kong, and use it there as well.”
[Even the white phosphorus smoke grenades—can we use those too?]
“That… Let’s talk more about that.”
Han Sa-jang answered with a nervous sweat.
Well, yeah.
That would draw way too much attention, so Cheol-woo rethought it.
Causing loud explosions and chaos would only attract the attention of foreign agents.
Whether in Korea or Hong Kong, the key was to stay silent and subtle.
[Can we really avoid Geummyeong Group’s eyes when leaving from Yeouido?]
“There are plenty of rich people in Korea. On a clear, sunny day, quite a few yachts head out. If we blend in with them, it’ll be hard to tell us apart. The equipment will be loaded onto the yacht in the early hours, under the cover of darkness.”
[Hmm…]
The plan sounded solid.
But would it really work?
Cheol-woo grew even more uneasy seeing how confident Han Sa-jang looked.
When in doubt, the best remedy was to eat more.
“Yes, let’s do that. Please order two more servings of front leg.”
“Also two more of the striploin.”
“Make that four servings of striploin.”
“…?”
Didn’t they just order that?
Why are they ordering it again? Are they seriously planning to go through the entire menu twice?
Han Sa-jang felt her mind slipping.
Mi-young’s arm was going numb — it had gone past aching to the point of complete loss of feeling.
“What? One hundred… twenty…?”
Han Sa-jang’s eyes widened at the receipt sent to her phone.
They didn’t even order alcohol.
How was the bill this high?
More importantly, how was it physically possible for them to fit that much food into their bodies?
At this rate, a single meal was costing more than the pistols and ammo she’d gifted them.
Geummyeong Security Headquarters.
Director Yoo leaned back, almost lying in her chair, holding a tablet and playing a video.
The elevator doors opened, and a dummy grenade bounced off the wall, landing right in front of Section Chief Jeong’s previous position.
Section Chief Jeong vanished in an instant, and what looked like some kind of stain rushed out of the elevator.
“Ugh— I told you we should’ve installed a better camera. The frame rate is too low to capture anything properly.”
“Ha. Monsters, those bastards.”
Section Chief Jeong covered about ten meters in a second and disappeared into the office, while Min Cheol-woo chased after him and started shooting.
Even if Jeong was on some kind of drug, what about Min Cheol-woo?
Did that bastard take something too?
Judging by his performance, it was reasonable to assume he was on something, but after watching someone turn into a monster right before his eyes, would he dare take the same stuff himself?
Anyway, neither of them seemed like human beings anymore.
Could I keep up if I got caught between those two?
Hmm… probably not.
If I couldn’t get within three meters of them, I’d be shredded by their gunfire.
“Eh?”
Then, at the moment Min Cheol-woo threw a grenade, Director Yoo paused the video.
Did I see that right?
She rewound and played it again.
Slowly. At 0.5x speed.
Hmm?
She rewound again.
At 0.25x speed.
“Did he pull the pin on the grenade with his thumb? Hey!”
“Yes?”
“Bring me a grenade.”
“Understood.”
Min Cheol-woo was holding a handgun in one hand, aiming at Section Chief Jeong, and with the other hand, he pulled the grenade pin.
Was that even possible?
Director Yoo wasn’t sure, so she had one of her staff members bring a grenade.
She held the safety pin tight, pushed her thumb into the pin, and tried to apply force…
Huh? It’s not budging at all.
It’s not a matter of bending my fingers—if I can pull the pin with just the force to straighten my fingers, how strong must my grip be?
I have stronger grip strength than most bulky guys, but if it’s stronger than that…?
“So this is the performance without the drugs, huh.”
Everything—senses, muscle strength—was far beyond the average human level.
What would happen if that bastard took the Blue Pill?
If he didn’t change, that’d be incredible.
Of all the samples Director Yoo had seen, the ones that changed were all low-quality, and the ones who didn’t change were like Section Chief Jeong—promising individuals.
Basically, those with superhuman physical abilities didn’t tend to change.
If Director Yoo’s hypothesis was correct, Min Cheol-woo must not have changed after taking the drugs.
If this is what he’s like without the drug, what happens if he takes it?
“Ahh… ahhhhhh…”
Ah, I can’t stand it.
It’s exciting.
Drooling.
Director Yoo’s lips curled into a twisted smile as a strange laugh escaped her.
“You look like you’re having fun. The tracker the doctor put on him fell off, and we’re about to lose him.”
Kim, the manager, scolded her.
He had been trying to give her a hint to correct her slouching posture, but she didn’t seem to take it seriously.
“Really? Doesn’t it excite you just knowing that such a monster exists in our industry? It’s thrilling. Stimulating.”
Not at all exciting to me.
Thrills, stimulation… Kim just liked working quietly, peacefully, without any bumps.
On the other hand, Director Yoo hated calm work.
She’d die of boredom if things went smoothly.
The more crises came at her, the higher her efficiency soared.
At this rate, she’d probably create some problems herself, right? That thought crossed Kim’s mind.
“And remember, the game is always long-term. Just because I can’t make someone mine right now doesn’t mean I never will. People’s relationships always circle back, you never know when they’ll come back to you.”
“Hey… you didn’t purposely let him go after you could have killed him, did you?”
“Haha, of course not.”
After all, Section Chief Jeong and Director Park were the ones who had fallen in the field, and since Min Cheol-woo escaped, she hadn’t even looked him in the eye, so why was he so irritated at her?
Is he being sensitive lately?
Going through a mid-life crisis?
Well, I guess he’s at that age.
Kim, the manager, slapped his back and groaned, while Director Yoo tried her best to understand.
“But, boss.”
“What?”
“Don’t you want to try again?”
“The chairman position is already assigned to Myung Chairman. I’m focusing on reducing external noise. That’s what we agreed on, so what are you talking about now?”
“I’m asking if you really have no intention of replacing Myung Chairman.”
“Is this girl out of her mind? You do know Myung Chairman and I are former National Intelligence Service colleagues, right? How dare you, a mere secretary, make such a suggestion?”
Kim chuckled, but Director Yoo’s eyes were serious.
This girl… she’s too perceptive for her own good.
