Chapter 177
I Proposed While Drunk and Now the Princesses are Obsessed.
Episode 177: 0th Princess, Reunion, Forced Marriage (52)
The entrance to the Purple Tower.
“Ah~ as expected, home is the best. This moment of returning to the Purple Tower is the most exciting.”
A young man with golden hair returned proudly.
His hair, shining in the sunlight, sparkled as it swayed, as if golden lightning were striking.
“Master Zeta! You’ve returned!”
All the magicians of the Purple Tower greeted him in unison.
The elder of the Purple Tower, Gendiz, spoke with a smile.
“Master Zeta, it seems like you’ve gained much insight during this mission. You seem to have made great progress since we last met.”
“Master Zeta, truly impressive!”
Other magicians joined in praising him.
“Hmm~ is that so?”
The young man, called Zeta, clenched his fist, and a burst of golden lightning shot out. It was an immense display of power.
The Purple Tower specialized in combat magic, and magicians who demonstrated terrifying killing power in actual battles naturally received high status.
Given the structure of the tower, it was only natural, and Zeta himself was the ultimate weapon of the Purple Tower.
As Zeta maintained such formality right from the entrance, it was impossible for him to go unnoticed by others.
Passersby from the Empire quietly conversed.
“Isn’t that the elder of the Purple Tower, Gendiz? Why is he showing such respect to such a young magician?”
“Don’t you know Zeta? Every time there’s a battle at the Purple Tower, he’s always the magician who defeats the most enemies. Of course, he gets treated well.”
“Why have I never seen him before?”
“He’s not someone you see often. He’s always leaving the tower for training, seeking out strong opponents, and enjoying breaking their reputations.”
“Breaking reputations…? That’s quite extreme.”
Zeta heard the whispers of the Empire’s people but didn’t pay much attention to them.
What good was it to gain approval from insignificant lower beings?
It was far more interesting to Zeta that high-ranking magicians, like the elder, who were older and held greater status, bowed their heads before him.
“Let’s discuss the rest inside the tower.”
Zeta laughed boisterously as he passed through the entrance.
As he walked, the expressions of the Purple Tower magicians he passed were filled with surprise, and they whispered to each other.
“Has Master Zeta returned?”
“It was inevitable. I heard he suggested an attack on the demons’ base in collaboration with the Imperial Tower.”
“Even Master Zeta is involved, this is really serious.”
Yes, that was the very reason Zeta had returned.
‘The Imperial Tower… are they crazy for this arrogance?’
He swallowed this thought several times.
Zeta was the Purple Tower’s most elite combat magician. Unless it was a truly massive issue, he was the type to wander the world, enjoying breaking reputations.
However, the Imperial Tower, backed by the Imperial family, had forcibly summoned the Purple Tower’s elite magicians. The reason was to attack the demons’ base.
“Those bastards… their guts have grown bold.”
As he muttered this, he entered the tower.
He brushed aside all the elders who wanted to speak with him, for the capable young man needed to meet with his twin sisters first.
Thud!
Finally, he arrived.
There was an entrance decorated with purple gemstones, a luxurious area in the Purple Tower that only select individuals could enter.
“Master Zeta has arrived!”
With the gatekeeper’s booming shout, Zeta stepped forward.
When the door opened, the interior was unexpectedly simple, revealing a neatly arranged room with only the essentials.
“You’ve returned stronger than before.”
Zeta’s sister, Herta, with her sharp nose and golden hair that cascaded down to her waist, spoke briefly.
She didn’t seem particularly interested in him. She continued to meditate, eyes closed.
Zeta lay down on a long, plush chair.
“Did you not hear the gatekeeper’s announcement that I have arrived? Where would you find a sister treating her only brother like this?”
Zeta looked at Herta’s twin, Leta, with subtle eyes.
Leta’s body, perfectly shaped with graceful curves, was quite a sight for her brother to admire as well.
“I’ve come back after a lot of hardship. Don’t you think you should comfort your brother a little?”
“You’ve just been killing innocent people again. After taking their lives, you must have forced them to drink the elixir.”
“So what?”
Sizzle!
Golden lightning crackled around Zeta’s palm. It was a level far surpassing the purple lightning.
Zeta clasped his hands behind his head and spoke.
“So the Imperial Tower arrogantly summoned us? The elite of the Purple Tower? How weak are they? Can’t they catch demons without us?”
At that moment, Herta finally opened her eyes. Her golden eyes, resembling lightning orbs, boldly appeared.
She had finally stopped meditating.
The woman parted her full, red lips.
“…About that, there’s something off. You know that the Purple Tower’s region was invaded by demons before we returned, right?”
“Of course I know. So what?”
“The elders of the tower claim they were betrayed, but it feels wrong. I’m sure they’re hiding something from us.”
“So what you’re saying is…”
Herta nodded in agreement with Zeta’s words.
“The Purple Tower has a history. I’m thinking that maybe we were the ones who betrayed them, and now they’re trying to cover it up.”
“Ah, this is why you’re no fun.”
Zeta clicked his tongue.
There was a fair amount of disdain and contempt in his gaze as he looked at his younger sister, Herta.
“Even if we did betray them, there’s no evidence, is there? What could the Imperial Tower do about it? They can’t even take care of themselves properly.”
“You must have been gone too long to know, but the Imperial Tower isn’t as weak as it used to be. And if we were wrong, shouldn’t we apologize first?”
“Ugh, so weak, so weak.”
Zeta shook his head as if disgusted.
“As soon as you apologize, you show weakness. It doesn’t matter what the Purple Tower did. Just let it go naturally.”
“What if we let it slide and something serious happens? The Imperial Tower didn’t ask for the Purple Tower’s cooperation without a reason. They must have another goal. We don’t know what will happen next…”
“Are you afraid that the Imperial Tower is going to punish us?”
Zeta laughed mockingly.
“Honestly, I’d find it more fun if we fought. The more famous my name gets, the better. Soon, I won’t even have to break signs to take the elixir.”
“I’ll have to ask the elder again. I need to know exactly what happened in the underground maze. If the Purple Tower goes any further off track–”
“Herta, you idiot, stop!”
Sizzle!
Golden lightning erupted, scorching a part of the room. Zeta glared at Herta, veins bulging on his forehead, as he spoke.
“I can’t stand your whining anymore. I’ll just kill the Imperial Tower’s Auditor. Is that good enough?”
Herta immediately narrowed her eyes.
“Make sure to confirm the truth before acting.”
“Truth? The truth doesn’t matter. This is how the world of magicians works. The weaker side is always in the wrong, including trash like you.”
Zeta’s eyes burned as he asked.
“So you’re really afraid that the Imperial Tower will punish us because we’ve actually committed a crime? You’re scared of the Imperial Tower’s Auditor, aren’t you?”
Herta was about to explain but gave up.
What Herta truly feared was the fact that the Purple Tower didn’t feel shame about its sins.
Thus, Herta believed that if the Purple Tower had sinned, they should apologize, regardless of the Imperial Tower’s Auditor’s strength. But she couldn’t communicate with Zeta.
Perhaps Zeta was the most fitting person for the Purple Tower’s nature. He solved problems only by fighting, killing the opponent, and then covering everything up.
Perhaps Herta’s temperament never truly aligned with the Purple Tower. Without her ability to wield lightning, she would never have fit in here.
She was forced to give a short reply.
“Yeah, recently, magicians plotting in the Black Tower were all punished by that Auditor.”
“That’s good. I’ll make my name known and show the strength of the Purple Tower while taking down some signs.”
“What?”
Zeta still had his usual relaxed demeanor.
“They’re coming here to punish the Purple Tower, right? Then we have no choice but to kill them. Only an idiot like you would stick their neck out and beg to be killed.”
“…Zeta.”
“Shut up. Just watch quietly while I do my thing.”
Zeta smiled slyly.
