Chapter 146: One Man Army (2)

    Episode 146

A moment later, an employee climbed up the ladder, carrying something large on his shoulder.

He then presented it to Kim Jinsung.

It was a giant bazooka-shaped weapon with the word “Armageddon” written on its barrel in English.

“This thing costs 100 billion Blanc, right?”

“Yes. It’s actually one of the more affordable weapons among the latest models.”

Armageddon was a state-of-the-art bazooka that converted the user’s mana into homing missiles.

It was quite cost-effective, but its usage was limited, so it wasn’t a very popular weapon.

It couldn’t be used within the city, where killing was prohibited, and was mainly used for hunting monsters in low-level dungeons or on the outskirts of the city.

“It’s the perfect weapon for this situation. The missiles will automatically home in on the enemy.”

“I think that’s why the master readily provided it.”

Timbu, the leader of Hunter Team 4, agreed, and Kim Jinsung recalled the situation before their departure yesterday.

When he had asked Dangote if he could borrow a long-range weapon for use against people, Dangote had immediately recommended Armageddon.

“Let’s see how powerful it is.”

Kim Jinsung started channeling his mana into the handle, following the instructions he had received.

As soon as he heard the beep indicating that the missile was ready to launch, he pulled the trigger.

**Bang!** A ball of mana shot out, quickly homing in on the location where the enemies were fighting.

    **Boom!**

A large area of the battlefield was engulfed in an explosion.

    “…Not bad.”

Kim Jinsung muttered, a satisfied look on his face.

Timbu, on the other hand, was staring wide-eyed in surprise.

    ‘Was it always this powerful…?’

He had seen Akuma use it once during a battle on the outskirts.

But it hadn’t been nearly as powerful as this, completely engulfing such a wide area in flames.

Not only the range, but the firepower also seemed to have increased.

After the smoke from the explosion cleared, he could see through the binoculars that many enemies were lying on the ground, groaning in pain.

‘Armageddon is known for its power scaling with the user’s level…’

Timbu’s eyes narrowed as he realized the implication.

In other words, Alopsky, the leader of Hunter Team 1, was stronger than Akuma.

“Let’s try firing it in burst mode.”

Kim Jinsung switched Armageddon to burst mode by tapping its screen and channeled his mana into the handle again.

He then held down the trigger, and mana missiles launched continuously as they reloaded.

**Bang! Bang! Bang!** The firing sounds rang out almost every second.

The missiles, guided by their homing function, all landed on the enemy’s side.

    **Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!**

The area where the Slaughterhouse Alliance Forces were located turned into a living hell.

The entire battlefield was engulfed in flames from the continuous explosions.

Notifications started popping up in front of Kim Jinsung.

▶ You have defeated an evildoer.

▶ Acquired 100 Beast Karma points.

▶ Permanently increased Strength and Agility by 35.

▶ Acquired 110 Beast Karma points.

▶ Permanently increased Intelligence and Agility by 40.

▶ Acquired 95 Beast Karma points.

▶ Acquired the opponent’s skill ‘Adrenaline’.

▷ Adrenaline: Increases Agility by 1.5 times for 10 seconds. Consumes 300 mana.

▶ Do you want to delete an existing skill to acquire the ‘Adrenaline’ skill?

    ▶ ….

Kim Jinsung cleared the endless stream of notifications that were blocking his vision.

He could read them again after the battle was over.

“They’re still not retreating? Let’s see how long you can hold out.”

He kept his finger on the trigger, watching the Slaughterhouse Clan members who were still refusing to flee.

Mana missiles continued to shoot out of Armageddon’s barrel.

    ‘Oh my god…!’

Timbu watched Kim Jinsung with his jaw dropped.

‘How much mana does he have to be able to fire continuously like that?’

Weapons that fired mana missiles, like Armageddon, consumed a massive amount of mana per shot.

He still vividly remembered Akuma, the vice-master, drinking a potion immediately after firing five shots in a row because he had run out of mana.

‘He’s a monster. I don’t understand why someone like him would join Boko Haram.’

Timbu’s gaze towards Kim Jinsung was now filled with a mixture of awe and bewilderment.

Judging by his current performance, he was more than capable of operating within the inner districts of the B district. He couldn’t understand why he would join a small clan like Boko Haram.

    It was then that,

    “Damn it!! Retreat! Retreat!”

Jason’s loud shout came from afar.

He saw the surviving alliance forces running back the way they had come.

    “They’re retreating!”

    “Yeah!”

“They came here with such a large force and are running away without accomplishing anything! Hahaha!”

The 20 or so Boko Haram Clan members inside Slaughterhouse No. 3 cheered.

Kim Jinsung finally stopped firing Armageddon, put it down, and said to Timbu,

    “Inform the master.”

    “…Y-yes, sir.”

“And gather all our forces. We’re going to attack Slaughterhouse No. 4.”

    “…What?”

    Timbu asked back in surprise.

But Kim Jinsung looked at him as if he didn’t understand his reaction.

“Can’t you see the enemy forces are completely defeated and running back to the B18 district?

It’s not easy for them to send reinforcements when their slaughterhouse is under attack. This is our chance to take over their slaughterhouse.”

“No, but no one in Boko Haram, except for the master, can issue an attack order!”

Timbu waved his hands, trying to stop Kim Jinsung.

“If we move our troops without the master’s permission and lose, we could be immediately executed for treason!”

“Then there’s no problem if we win, right?”

    “What?!”

    “Let me ask you something.”

Kim Jinsung asked Timbu, who was looking at him with a dumbfounded expression.

“If I lead our troops and attack Slaughterhouse No. 4 without suffering any casualties, how do you think the master will react?”

    “…Well…”

Timbu couldn’t bring himself to say, ‘Of course he’ll be happy.’

But Kim Jinsung, quick-witted as he was, immediately guessed what he was thinking and grinned.

“Of course he’ll be happy. Who wouldn’t be happy if we captured a heavily fortified slaughterhouse with triple-layered defenses without any casualties?”

    “That’s true, but…”

    “Then let’s go.”

    “W-wait a minute!”

Timbu stopped Kim Jinsung again as he was about to jump down from the watchtower.

“How are we going to attack Slaughterhouse No. 4, which has triple-layered defenses, with only 30 men?”

He now voiced his objection based on a practical issue.

They only had 28 Boko Haram Clan members at Slaughterhouse No. 3. And they didn’t even know how many troops were defending Slaughterhouse No. 4.

“The exception you mentioned earlier only applies if we succeed without any casualties! If we suffer heavy losses during the battle, the master will be furious, regardless of whether we capture the slaughterhouse or not!

And we don’t even know how many troops are defending Slaughterhouse No. 4! Even if you’re strong, Team Leader 1, with these numbers…!”

“What if we attack with them?”

Kim Jinsung replied, pointing outside the watchtower.

    **Roar!**

    **Grrr!**

The pet monsters, which had been chasing the fleeing enemies, suddenly changed direction and started running towards the opposite side.

Kim Jinsung asked Timbu, who was watching them,

“Isn’t that the direction of Slaughterhouse No. 4?”

    “……!”

“What if we attack with them? Wouldn’t we be able to capture it easily without any casualties?”

    Timbu couldn’t answer.

If things went as Kim Jinsung said, it seemed possible to capture the slaughterhouse without any casualties.

    But he was also puzzled.

‘Why are those monsters suddenly running towards Slaughterhouse No. 4…?’

He couldn’t understand why they had suddenly changed direction and started running towards Slaughterhouse No. 4 after chasing the fleeing enemies.

It was as if someone was controlling them.

‘Could it be Team Leader 1…? No, that’s impossible.’

He immediately dismissed the thought that had briefly crossed his mind.

If he could control that many pet monsters alone, why would he join the Boko Haram Clan?

He would be able to exert significant influence in the B district even if he started his own clan. There would be no need for him to be under anyone.

“Now that you understand, let’s gather our men, shall we?”

    “……”

At Kim Jinsung’s words, Timbu finally gave up and shouted to his subordinates below,

“Everyone, gather! We’re going to attack Slaughterhouse No. 4, following those monsters!”

    * * *

The pet monsters headed straight for Slaughterhouse No. 4.

Although a surprisingly large number of troops were stationed inside the slaughterhouse, they couldn’t hold out for long and retreated to Slaughterhouse No. 5.

The defending forces, less than a quarter of the main force, couldn’t withstand the combined might of the pet monsters, which even the main force had failed to defeat, and Kim Jinsung’s “Armageddon.”

They had captured Slaughterhouse No. 4 with only 28 men!

Dangote, upon hearing the news, was so surprised that he immediately led the main force to Slaughterhouse No. 4 himself.

Of course, he showered Kim Jinsung with praise as soon as he saw him.

“Well done! You captured the slaughterhouse without any casualties by taking advantage of the monsters’ attack? That’s what an executive of Boko Haram should be able to do! Excellent! Hahaha!”

Dangote had no reason to scold him. They hadn’t suffered any casualties, and they had captured Slaughterhouse No. 4, which would have been difficult to conquer even with their entire main force, by utilizing the monsters.

Kim Jinsung, receiving his praise, immediately sought his advice.

“We need to attack Slaughterhouse No. 5 now, Master. We received a report that the monsters have reached the vicinity of Slaughterhouse No. 5.”

    “Really?”

Dangote, surprised, nodded. If the monsters were attacking Slaughterhouse No. 5, there was no better time to attack.

“Alright! All forces, attack Slaughterhouse No. 5!”

He led the main force and charged towards Slaughterhouse No. 5.

When they arrived, they saw the ownerless pet monsters engaged in a fierce battle with the enemy.

“Use the monsters to break through the enemy’s defenses!”

The Boko Haram Clan members provided support from a distance, allowing the monsters to break through the defenses.

The Slaughterhouse Clan members, already struggling to hold back the monsters, quickly crumbled under the additional pressure of the Boko Haram Clan’s ranged attacks.

Finally, the defenses were breached by the monsters.

Only two monsters remained, practically sacrificing themselves for Boko Haram.

    “They’re through! Charge!”

The Boko Haram Clan members seized the opportunity and charged into Slaughterhouse No. 5.

A moment later, the Slaughterhouse Clan’s flag was lowered from the slaughterhouse, replaced by the Boko Haram Clan’s flag.

Dangote had now taken control of all the Slaughterhouse slaughterhouses on the eastern outskirts of the B district.

    Kim Jinsung advised him,

“We can’t be satisfied with this. We need to seize the key areas of the B17 district while the enemy is weakened and our morale is high. We might not get another chance like this if we give them time to recover.”

    “Now?”

    “Yes.”

    Kim Jinsung nodded and continued,

“Give me command of the main force. I’ll lead the charge.”

As he spoke, he thought to himself,

‘If even the B18 district is captured, Jason will start wanting to contact ‘them’.’
