Chapter 14: I Was Just Lucky

    ▶ Goblin Shaman

    Rank: E

    Level: 3

Skills: Sorcery, Goblin Enhancement, Telekinesis (Equipment Effect)

Description: A special goblin created after goblins gained a certain level of intelligence. Not significantly threatening, but capable of using sorcery. It also serves as a religious leader, commanding the regular goblins.

    ▶ Enhanced Goblin

    Rank: F+

    Level: 2

    Skills: Club Swing

Description: A goblin enhanced by the Shaman’s sorcery. It possesses greater ferocity and aggression than regular goblins. Its Strength has slightly increased.

The Goblin Shaman and the three goblins under its command.

‘This guy must be the leader here.’

‘Will it be stronger than a regular goblin?’

The level itself hasn’t increased much.

However, the Goblin Shaman’s skills are a bit concerning.

    ‘Telekinesis.’

    Goblins don’t have great power.

But letting my guard down wouldn’t be wise.

“I’ll handle the Shaman. I can leave the rest to you, right?”

    “Of course, Master.”

    -Pa-ang!

Hilde charged towards the goblins, brandishing her spear.

    “Ki-hik! Kya-ha!”

The Shaman thrust out its staff and shouted something.

Then, the goblins immediately rushed forward.

    ‘Finish them quickly.’

I dodged them and leaped sideways.

Pushing off the cave wall, I instantly headed for the Shaman.

    “Ki-hi?”

‘If the Shaman isn’t here, those guys are no different from regular goblins. The same applies the other way around!’

The defenseless Goblin Shaman, now without its guards.

I threw ‘Adol’ straight at its face.

    “Ki-hi?”

    -U-ttuk!

The Shaman thrust its staff forward.

The flying knife stopped in mid-air.

    ‘Is this its skill?’

It must be using the Telekinesis from the equipment effect.

But since I expected it, there’s no need to be surprised.

“I have more weapons, you know.”

Putting all the momentum from my charge into it, I dropped from the air and slashed downwards with the rabbit bone dagger.

    -Kwa-jik!

The Shaman raised its staff to block it.

    “Ki-ha-ha-ha!”

Unfortunately, a bone sword has weak power.

It wasn’t enough to completely shatter the staff.

    But this is sufficient.

    ‘Come back.’

The knife, which had fallen to the ground when the Telekinesis lost its power, returned to my hand.

I immediately stabbed it into the Shaman’s chest.

    Pu-hak!

    “Ki-hi-ik?”

The sensation of bone breaking and innards being pierced flowed through my hand.

    I swung the knife sideways.

    Chwa-ak!!

Its body tore open, and blood spurted out.

The Shaman staggered as if trying to cast a spell, then collapsed sideways.

    ‘It wasn’t much.’

Of course, if my weapon was only ‘Adol’, or if I didn’t know about Telekinesis, I might have panicked.

Fortunately, I was well-prepared, and its attack wasn’t threatening.

    “Hilde’s……”

    “Ah, Master! You finished already!”

When I turned my head, the goblins were already down.

It seemed easy for her, regardless of whether I defeated the Shaman.

    “Are you hurt?”

“Thanks to the spear you gave me, Master, it was easy!”

Hmm, unlike my Adol knife, her spear probably didn’t have any special effects.

Wasn’t I the one who was actually enhanced?

‘Still, it is a good spear.’

Hilde has the leg strength to catch rabbits just by running.

Besides, goblins are nothing special anyway.

“Is this the last of the goblins?”

    “I think so.”

    -Tti-ring~

The quest notification rang out perfectly on time.

【You have cleared the Event Quest ‘Annihilate All Goblins’!】

【Perfect Annihilation! You achieved overwhelming results with excellent preparation and armament!】

    【You have obtained 500P as a reward!】

    【You have obtained a Guaranteed C-Rank Draw Ticket as a reward!】

‘Oh, the rewards are quite substantial?’

A whopping 500 points from a single quest!

Thanks to this, I’ve now accumulated 800 points.

    And a guaranteed C-Rank draw!

‘Among what I’ve drawn, only Adol the knife, the Ability Use Permit, and Hilde are C-Rank or higher.’

While they give out a lot of points, the probability is bad.

In that sense, a guaranteed C-Rank might be better than an ambiguous amount of points.

‘Besides, this isn’t the only reward.’

I picked up the staff lying before me.

“Isn’t that what the Shaman was using earlier?”

“It seems to contain a useful skill.”

I examined the staff properly using Appraisal.

    ▶ Old Staff Containing Telekinesis

    Rank: D-

Description: A staff made from a branch imbued with ample spiritual energy, granting it a special power. Allows the user to use Telekinesis. Unfortunately, it is old, so its effects are weak, and it likely won’t last much longer.

Effect: Enables the use of the skill ‘Telekinesis’ when equipped.

    “Hmm, the rank is ‘D-‘.”

It’s lower ranked than my Adol, and even lower than Hilde’s spear.

The description also says its effects are weak due to age.

‘The mention that its lifespan is ending is also concerning. Besides, if I have to hold it to use it, its utility is questionable.’

Still, it’s not bad to have it for now.

I put the staff into my inventory.

“Hilde, I’m sorry, but could you move the goblin corpses outside?”

    “Understood. What about you, Master?”

“I’m going to see what’s inside the cave.”

    “Ah, won’t that be dangerous?”

Hilde looked worried, but I shook my head.

“The ‘Clear’ message has already popped up, so it should be fine.”

Of course, I’ll be careful, but it’s safe to assume there’s no major threat.

Hilde replied affirmatively and started moving the goblins energetically.

    ‘Alright then.’

I immediately walked towards the back of the cave.

The path was short, so it didn’t take long.

Arriving in the inner chamber, I frowned.

    ‘It’s not a bust… but it’s too late.’

There was indeed a person there.

But she wasn’t moving, not even breathing.

    “No pulse. Pupils are dilated.”

It was a woman with long, flowing hair.

Her clothes were stripped off, and her body was covered in wounds.

Judging by her condition, she seemed to have been used as a plaything by the goblins.

If the goblins had cared about the condition of their spoils and given her water, she might have made it in time.

But goblins wouldn’t have that kind of intelligence in the first place.

“Since revenge has been served, closing her eyes in peace… is meaningless.”

Death is the end for a person.

Whatever happens after death, the corpse knows nothing.

Revenge and such are ultimately self-satisfaction for the living.

It meant nothing to a corpse returning to dust.

Besides, in a situation of being stranded, survival or death depends entirely on luck.

My pity is arrogance and a luxury.

‘I was lucky, and this woman just wasn’t. Furthermore, the goblins were lucky for a moment, but that was actually their misfortune.’

Didn’t I kill the goblins for my own safety?

I am fundamentally no different from them.

‘From the goblins’ perspective, I must have been a monster.’

Anyway, this woman’s existence meant quite a lot to me.

‘The important point is that another person exists on the uninhabited island.’

I had considered the possibility that this wasn’t Earth.

The sudden appearance of the Gacha ability and the island’s ecosystem.

    Both were far from normal.

‘I had thought maybe I was the only person on this planet.’

But this woman’s existence sparked new possibilities.

‘There might still be survivors on this island.’

Honestly, it’s not exactly welcome news.

The danger posed by humans in an apocalypse goes without saying.

In a survival situation, people are often more dangerous than fierce beasts.

Well, even so, with Hilde and my abilities, I would win.

‘Anyway, let’s focus on survival for now.’

Thinking about it won’t change anything.

I’m too busy trying to survive myself to worry about anyone else.

After entrusting the woman to Hilde, I searched the goblin lair.

‘Since they were goblins, I don’t expect much. But since there was a leader, something should come out.’

The lair was dirty, not even properly cleaned.

Rummaging through the junk, I found a few items I’d seen before and a smartphone.

    ▶ Restraining Leather Handcuffs

    Rank: E-

Description: Leather handcuffs made to effectively bind a person’s arms. Made with mediocre craftsmanship, but sturdy enough to fulfill their role.

    ▶ Broken Smartphone

    Rank: –

Description: A completely broken smartphone that has lost all function. The internal components seem damaged, making it unusable.

The smartphone was shattered, even internally.

Even if it were intact, it would be useless without electricity.

‘Besides, would radio waves even reach here?’

Animal bones, clubs, slightly shiny stones.

    Searching further yielded only trash.

‘I was expecting more since it was a Shaman. In the end, they’re still just goblins?’

As I lamented my disappointment, I happened to spot a wooden plank.

▶ Crude Map Drawn on a Wooden Plank

    Rank: F-

Description: A map crudely made by a Goblin Shaman. It depicts the surrounding terrain in a very approximate way. Darker markings seem to indicate the location of something.

A waterway and a roughly drawn forest.

And in a corner, something was colored in black.

‘A map made and recorded by a goblin…’

It filled me with both worry and curiosity.

Moreover, even if crude, it’s still a map.

‘I haven’t even grasped the surrounding terrain well enough to draw it myself. This could be useful.’

    I planned to explore anyway.

It wouldn’t hurt to check what this marking signifies.

“In the end, the only useful items seem to be these leather handcuffs and the map.”

The leather handcuffs were probably used to bind prisoners or women.

I wish they had put that effort into making weapons instead.

Or perhaps their desire for Eros elevated the goblins’ intelligence?

“Anyway, this cave itself is quite usable. It might take time, but I might use this as a base.”

To do that, I need to clean the cave and quickly deal with the goblins.

As the suddenly increased workload made me ponder where to start.

“Master! I’ve moved everything outside as you instructed!”

Hilde came in, smiling after finishing her task.

But her gaze stopped as she saw my hand.

    Specifically, the handcuffs in it.

    “What’s wrong?”

Hilde tilted her head slightly, looking embarrassed.

“No, well… even though it’s me, I don’t know much about goblin play… But if you, Master, desire it…”

‘No, what terrifying thing are you saying with that pretty face?’

    What is goblin play, anyway?

Is it like, I tie Hilde down so she can’t resist, and she begs me to stop while I fuck her wildly like a goblin?

    Damn, that sounds hot?

    “Hahp! Hahp!”

A woman was running through the bushes.

Her throat was parched, and her legs felt weak.

Her stamina was already at its limit, but she couldn’t stop.

It was better than dying or becoming a goblin’s plaything.

‘Why the hell are there goblins here?’

How many hours had it been since she found the goblins?

It was fortunate she found them early enough to escape like this.

    “Hoo!”

After running for a long time like this.

She could finally stop after confirming there was nothing around.

She swore she wouldn’t go near the direction of the goblin colony again.

    “……I’m hungry.”

As the tension subsided, her empty stomach began to rumble again.

She hadn’t eaten properly since arriving here.

“I wish they were natives instead of goblins.”

Of course, there was no guarantee they would be friendly just because they were human.

But right now, she felt like she’d sell her soul or her body for just a little food.

“Haa~ There’s no way anyone would be on an uninhabited island where goblins have made their nest.”

The woman sighed and got up, starting to walk.

Exactly in the opposite direction of where the goblin colony had been.

The woman had no idea that a man had annihilated the goblins.
