    Chapter 139: Pet Monsters

    Episode 139

    “Whoa!”

    “What, what’s going on?!”

Everyone inside the truck jumped up in surprise.

    Fortunately, no one was injured.

Kim Jinsung had sensed something flying towards them from outside and quickly enveloped the entire truck in a thick protective barrier.

    ‘Ugh…!’

Kim Jinsung gritted his teeth as he continued to hold up the barrier against the impact of the explosion.

The force behind the attack he had just blocked was stronger than he had expected.

    ‘And there’s more coming!’

The problem was, his keen senses detected another identical attack flying towards the truck from afar.

Judging that it would be difficult to keep holding up the barrier, he shouted,

“Everyone, get out of the truck!”

He then kicked the back door open with all his might.

    **Bang!**

As the door flew open, Kim Jinsung jumped out first.

However, the others hesitated instead of immediately following him.

They were still unsure if it was okay to act independently without orders from the executives through their earpieces.

    Then, Terem shouted,

“Hey! We gotta listen to the guy who cleared Level 10!”

He jumped out after Kim Jinsung, and

    “Me too!”

“Ah, screw it! I don’t know!”

His comrades, Musa and Moffi, followed suit.

    That was the trigger.

The rest of the people inside the truck, caught up in the herd mentality, started jumping out one after another.

‘He cleared a Level 10 dungeon?’

‘That means he’s stronger than me?’

‘If he’s that strong, I can trust him!’

They all had the same thought as they jumped out.

And their decision turned out to be a stroke of luck.

    **Boom!**

The moment the last person jumped out of the truck, another missile flew in from outside and blew up the truck.

The special military truck, reinforced with thick steel and powerful protective magic, was completely destroyed by a single missile.

“Yikes! Holy crap! Damn it! Shit!”

“What kind of missile can destroy this truck with one shot?!”

    “Uh oh…! More are coming!”

The terrified men turned their gazes towards where Moffi was pointing.

They saw dozens of identical missiles launching from all directions, filling the sky.

Just as their eyes widened in shock,

“Everyone, take cover behind the truck!”

Kim Jinsung’s shout reached their ears.

    They instinctively followed his instructions.

Kim Jinsung also moved behind the truck, activated the microphone on his earpiece, and shouted urgently,

“Missiles are heading towards the trucks! The trucks need to scatter, and everyone inside needs to get out quickly!”

A few seconds after Kim Jinsung’s shout,

Dangote’s voice, the master of the Boko Haram Clan, came through the earpiece.

    – Everyone, get out of the trucks and scatter!

Only after Dangote’s order did the back doors of the trucks following behind open simultaneously.

As the hunters started to get out,

the missiles that had filled the sky rained down around the trucks.

    **Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!**

The power of the missiles was immense.

They exploded all around the trucks, engulfing the area in a thick cloud of dust.

    “Whoa! Whoaaaa!”

“They didn’t mention this during the briefing!”

Terem and his two comrades, practically screaming, clung to Kim Jinsung, who had summoned a protective barrier.

Fortunately, Kim Jinsung’s barrier held up until the missile bombardment ended.

Thanks to him, everyone who had been in the same truck, including the three luggage carriers, survived without major injuries.

However, the situation with the other trucks looked dire.

More than half of the trucks were completely destroyed, engulfed in flames, and charred corpses were scattered around them.

    “Ugh… Aaaargh…!”

    “Potion… please…!”

There were also quite a few injured people, covered in blood, groaning in pain, seemingly hit by shrapnel.

The scene that unfolded before Kim Jinsung’s eyes could only be described as “horrific.”

    – Everyone, report your status! Truck No. 1, report your status!

Dangote’s voice came through the earpiece. The gazes of those around him naturally focused on Kim Jinsung.

Kim Jinsung naturally started reporting on behalf of everyone.

“This is Truck No. 1. Everyone is safe, except for the loss of the truck and the driver.”

After finishing his report, Kim Jinsung listened to the other reports.

    – Truck No. 2! 14 survivors out of 30! 7 are injured, and 2 are critically injured!

    – T-truck No. 3… Ugh! Only 7 of us are left, and we’re all treating our injuries. Ugh… Does anyone have any spare potions…?

Judging by the reports, Kim Jinsung’s Truck No. 1 was the only one that had survived unscathed.

The others had lost at least half their members or were too severely injured to fight.

    – Damn it! What the hell happened?!

Just as Dangote shouted in anger after hearing all the reports,

    “Hahahaha…!”

Loud laughter erupted from the darkness ahead, loud enough for all the surviving Boko Haram members to hear.

“Dangote, you monkey bastard! Did you think I wouldn’t be able to predict your simple-minded plans?!”

Dangote gritted his teeth through the earpiece.

    – Jason…! That scrap metal pig…!

    ‘Jason?’

Kim Jinsung’s eyes sparkled with interest.

Wishan had mentioned that the master of the Slaughterhouse Clan was named Jason during the briefing.

That meant the ones who had ambushed the trucks were Slaughterhouse.

‘So they knew about our executives’ plan.’

As he was thinking, Jason’s shout continued.

“This is perfect! You were a thorn in my side anyway, so I’ll wipe you all out this time! Hahahaha…!”

After his laughter subsided, a brief silence fell.

Then, heavy footsteps that shook the ground started approaching from afar.

    **Thud. Thud. Thud.**

The owners of the footsteps, coming from all directions, soon came into view.

    They were monsters.

    “We’re screwed! Pet monsters…!”

Musa, who was still clinging to Kim Jinsung, muttered as he saw the monsters.

    Kim Jinsung looked at him.

Musa, sensing his questioning gaze, quickly explained,

“Slaughterhouse is known for capturing monsters, brainwashing them, and using them as pets in battle.

Naturally, they also modify their bodies, so they’re much stronger than the average monsters on this continent.”

“Stronger than the monsters on this continent?”

    “Yes.”

Kim Jinsung looked at the approaching monsters with renewed interest.

The monsters on the Sselepoh continent were already far superior to those on other continents, and these guys were even stronger than them?

    “My beloved pet monsters!”

Jason’s shout came from the darkness.

“It’s time to run wild! Unleash your suppressed instincts! Hahahaha…!”

Just as Jason’s laughter was fading,

    **Roar!**

    **Grrr!**

The monsters, which had been approaching slowly, suddenly roared and charged with all their might.

    – They’re coming! Prepare for battle!

Akuma’s order came through the earpiece.

Just as everyone drew their weapons and focused on the charging monsters,

    – Everyone, retreat!

Wishan immediately gave the opposite order.

    – Slaughterhouse’s pet monsters are very difficult to deal with without specific countermeasures! We need to retreat and regroup!

    – What are you talking about?! We’re already surrounded!

    Akuma immediately retorted.

    – And most of our trucks are destroyed! We’ll suffer even greater losses if we try to escape on foot and get caught by the monsters!

    – We’ll be annihilated if we fight here! Why are you being so stubborn when even you, Akuma, can’t handle a single one of those monsters!

    – What?! You little…!

“Ah, damn it. What are you two doing?”

“Why are you fighting on the battlefield?”

“What are we supposed to do…?”

The rest of the Boko Haram members were thrown into confusion by the two executives’ bickering.

    – What the hell are you two doing!!

Finally, they stopped arguing after Dangote’s roar.

    – Just fight! It’s too late to retreat!

As Dangote said, the pet monsters had already reached them while the two were arguing.

They had no choice but to fight for their lives.

    **Roar!**

The first group to be attacked by the monsters were the survivors from Truck No. 1, where Kim Jinsung was.

    ‘It’s a Minotaur.’

Kim Jinsung easily identified the monster charging towards them by its head.

‘But I’ve never seen one with four arms.’

And each of its four hands held a giant, sharp-looking greatsword.

‘Should I try to handle it alone?’

    Kim Jinsung shouted to everyone,

    “Scatter and fall back!”

After confirming that everyone was following his instructions, he charged towards the Minotaur.

The Minotaur swung its greatswords at him as he closed in.

    **Whoosh! Whoosh!**

The sound of the Minotaur’s swords slicing through the air whizzed past Kim Jinsung’s ears.

He narrowly dodged all the attacks and managed to get close, then swung his sword at its abdomen with all his might.

    **Clang!**

    “……!”

    Kim Jinsung’s eyebrow twitched.

    ‘That sound…’

It was the same sound he had heard when he had swung his sword at Jacob’s bare arm, the master of the Nature Animal Clan.

    ‘Could this guy also…? Yikes!’

He hurriedly jumped to the side to avoid the greatsword that was coming down at him.

As he landed safely after a mid-air spin,

    “Be careful!”

    Musa’s shout came from afar.

“That monster’s skin is also reinforced, so ordinary attacks won’t even scratch it!”

Kim Jinsung nodded slightly, confirming his suspicion based on Musa’s words.

    ‘In that case…’

He charged towards the Minotaur again.

This time, he jumped high, aiming for its head.

But before he could reach it, he had to deal with the greatsword that the Minotaur was swinging at him.

He spun his body with all his might, narrowly dodging the greatsword, and at the same time, shot spiderwebs at the Minotaur’s shoulder.

He then used the spiderwebs to swing himself up and over the Minotaur, landing behind it.

He threw his sword into the air and reached out his palm towards the back of the Minotaur’s head.

Musa, seeing this, shouted in surprise,

“No, I told you its skin is reinforced…!”

    **Thud!**

But he couldn’t finish his sentence as a thudding sound rang out.

He just stared with wide eyes and an open mouth, his expression filled with disbelief.

    ‘…What?’

The headless corpse of the Minotaur fell backward like a rotten tree, playing out in slow motion before his eyes.

‘Did its head just explode with a single touch of his palm?’
