It’s Not My Fault, So I Have No Reason to Suffer (7)

It’s Not My Fault, So I Have No Reason to Suffer (7)

Yona was momentarily dazed by the sudden change.

Even though she was emitting demonic energy, she hadn’t expected something even more surprising to happen.

Yona’s trembling hand brushed through Alec’s abundant hair.

The sensation on her fingers made her realize it was undoubtedly real hair.

    “…This isn’t the time.”

Only then did Yona become aware of her surroundings.

This place was still in the middle of enemy territory, and now she had become an enemy to the entire Celestine Church, so she couldn’t afford to be lost in thought like this.

    “Kaiyak.”

    “I’ve been waiting.”

Kaiyak emerged from the shadows, hidden by her demonic energy.

From the beginning, Yona’s request to Kaiyak was to retrieve Alec.

Knowing well that she couldn’t properly move Alec with her own strength, she had infiltrated while hiding Kaiyak in her shadow.

    “The necklace works well.”

“Yes, it did. Without a doubt.”

Kaiyak nodded while fiddling with the necklace around his neck.

This demonic energy, which no ordinary human could withstand, was no different for a Lizardman.

But the necklace directly consecrated by Yona, now the saint of the demon realm, played the role of preventing him from being affected by the demonic energy,

Thanks to this, Kaiyak could hide perfectly within the demonic energy.

    “Kaiyak.”

Kaiyak, who was approaching to retrieve Alec, glanced at Yona.

Yona couldn’t bring herself to face Kaiyak and lowered her gaze.

“I don’t intend to force you to sacrifice yourself too. If you want to leave me, now is the time. I promise I will never harm you.”

There was no reason for Kaiyak to go this far for her.

Yona clenched her fists and waited for Kaiyak’s answer.

An answer like ‘This is as far as I go’— or ‘Let’s end it here’—

“You’re talking nonsense. A life-saving grace is repaid with one’s life, Yona.”

But the answer that came was quite different.

“My life is already yours, Yona. I owe you the lives of my entire clan, so even that isn’t enough. The day you die is the day I die. So don’t worry about it. I don’t care if you’re a demon or whatever.”

Kaiyak raised his hand and wiped his nose bridge.

Then he turned from approaching Alec and came towards Yona.

Even in the flames of red and black demonic energy, Kaiyak was unfazed.

The surging demonic energy also subsided as if making way for Kaiyak.

Kaiyak, who approached like that, raised his hand and patted Yona’s shoulder—

“I serve the Water God. I have no relation to the god of humans.”

    “…I see.”

Yona watched as Kaiyak picked up Alec and melted back into the demonic energy.

Then, with her gleaming eyes, she looked around.

The first thing she saw was a small girl—

Red hair and a petite figure.

A girl wearing saint’s robes that were practically in tatters.

She thought she had surely collapsed and been carried away by the hero,

Yet there she was again, standing firm while dripping cold sweat.

    “Yona…!”

Yona stared intently at that girl.

The brilliant and radiant, once holy and beautiful radiance that she too had once pursued.

The girl shining within that radiance, Bigrind.

With Bigrind in the middle, the Pope and Rudvik were aiming their weapons on either side.

And on both sides, dozens of cathedral knights were raising their weapons, glaring at Yona as if they would kill her on the spot.

“Nun of the Celestine Church, Yona. Surrender now.”

    Arczel IV’s solemn voice echoed.

“You too are human, and your sin of turning to demonic temptation, straying from the Celestial God’s benevolence. Though it is indeed deep, if you surrender now—”

    “If I do.”

    Arczel IV’s face hardened.

    In his decades as Pope,

There had never been anyone who so blatantly cut off his words.

    But Yona was bold.

The only difference is the god they serve.

Yona still knows nothing about the god she serves, but she’s originally the ‘saint of the demon realm’ who doesn’t serve a god, after all.

But anyway, now she was in no way inferior even compared to the Pope.

“Pope of the Celestine Church, Arczel IV. And Saint of the Celestine Church, Bigrind.”

    Yona quietly closed her eyes.

Even with her eyes closed, she could feel that clear hostility.

Only killing intent directed at her surrounded her.

The erupting demonic energy was calming down.

As if it were a lie, just the fact that she had retrieved Alec again was making her heart incredibly peaceful.

To the extent that nothing else mattered.

“You are already my enemies. Just as I am your enemy, we have become people who cannot stand under the same sky. And yet you tell me to surrender— aren’t you being too shameless?”

“I don’t understand what you’re saying, apostate. You are merely an evil seed fallen to demonic temptation. What kindness should be shown to such a being?”

“I never wanted any kindness. I just wanted to live peacefully. Yes, peacefully.”

Yona opened her eyes and glared at Arczel IV.

    The Pope, Arczel IV.

    He hadn’t directly harmed Yona.

But she had witnessed it too clearly.

Alec, trying to protect Yona who was dumbfounded by the sudden explosion of demonic energy.

Alec, desperately pleading to the Pope for a chance to explain.

    But what had he done?

And now, to say such things—

“It’s not even funny… really. You’re too brazen. Utterly shameless. Truly… it’s just pathetic. So much talk after it’s all too late.”

The longer she spoke, the more she felt her anger reigniting.

Each and every reason why things had come to this.

In all those reasons, was there anything Yona and Alec had done wrong?

    There wasn’t.

They hadn’t done a single thing wrong.

Berbaria had descended at the Port of Kapatia, and they had stopped it.

And they had helped Ceres prevent the incident in Semek.

    That was all.

    And—

    Ah.

For a moment, Yona’s thoughts stopped.

    Port of Kapatia.

    Berbaria.

    —Rubina.

    “…Where is Rubina?”

    Rubina.

    The black-haired girl.

The small and cute girl who followed her sister well.

Finally, Yona came to remember Rubina.

Amidst the sudden commotion, Rubina was trembling in hiding in a corner.

Although they had exited after finishing the hymn, the waiting room was just behind the courtroom, hidden by a curtain.

Rubina, sitting there huddled with the other children, had been feeling an inexplicable chill.

And then she heard a familiar voice.

Although it sounded very pained, she could still recognize Alec’s voice.

Rubina wanted to rush out immediately, pull back the curtain and check.

Why was big brother Alec here, where had big sister Yona gone.

But she didn’t have the courage to do so, and Rubina just hugged her knees and trembled.

And then came the collapse, and that voice that was undoubtedly Yona’s.

    Followed by Scarlet’s agonizing screams—

Rubina wanted to cover her ears from all of this.

    But she couldn’t.

Because she could hear the voice of the big sister she loved, she couldn’t.

So Rubina was just holding back her tears within the thick curtain that hid her when the curtain rod collapsed with the destruction.

    “—Where is Rubina?”

Finally, she heard big sister Yona’s voice.

Nevertheless, Rubina couldn’t bring herself to step out and say she was here.

    An instinctive fear and dread.

The feeling that if she pulled back this curtain covering her now, the image of that big sister Yona she remembered would disappear forever.

    Rubina instinctively realized this.

“Rubina… wasn’t she the child in the choir? Then behind that curtain…”

    Ceres’s voice was heard.

It would have been better if she had pretended not to know, but at Ceres’s voice, Rubina pulled down the curtain with childlike hastiness.

And then the suddenly bright— courtroom mixed with brilliant golden radiance and red and black demonic energy.

The figure of Yona standing in the middle of it.

Yona’s arm with a jet-black tattoo, the left sleeve having disappeared somewhere.

Yona, emitting an entirely black and red, frightening energy.

    “Big sister… Yona?”

Rubina shrank back at the sight.

Calling Yona’s name in a tiny voice.

    “Rubina…!”

    Yona was approaching.

With her arms wide open, at least her face towards Rubina was still Yona’s own—

Rubina unconsciously opened her arms and tried to run towards Yona.

    It was faster than that.

    Faster than Rubina running.

    Faster than Yona approaching.

    A face Yona knew.

Faster than Yona, faster than Rubina, the face of the cathedral knight who ran and snatched Rubina.

“…You, your name was definitely Luis.”

The captain of the cathedral knights who had been with them during the tide of the dead in Semek village, Luis.

He had snatched Rubina and was holding a dagger to her throat.

    “Surrender, apostate!”

    “…What?”

Yona’s eyes began to burn fiercely.

Yona couldn’t calmly accept this situation that had just occurred.

“Sir Luis! Stop this! What are you doing!”

“Stop this immediately! What are you doing to a child!”

    “Sir Luis!”

The voice of Arczel IV trying to stop him,

    The ridiculous voice of Ceres,

The voice of Bigrind rebuking him,

Rudvik’s voice telling him to stop.

None of them could be heard.

Not a single one could be heard.

“If that apostate surrenders, everything will be resolved! The Celestial God will also forgive—”

    “Aaaaaaaarghhhhhh—————!!!!!”

    Yona’s scream burst out.

Along with it, the demonic energy once again began to rage like a storm.

    Again— again.

Those vile creatures taking even Rubina hostage.

Even though she couldn’t understand why they had to go this far,

    Again, again, again—

    Yona’s anger burned madly.

Cathedral knight captain or whatever, whether that was human or not—

Demonic energy began to flare up from Yona, who was consumed by anger to the point her eyes turned blood-red.

    “Su-surrender—! The-then this child will—!”

    “Shut uuuuuuuuuuuuuuup—————!!!!!”

    Yona’s roar echoed.

The storm of demonic energy began to rage as something beyond a storm.

Even the radiant incantation Bigrind had set up began to twist, caught in that storm,

The courtroom began to collapse even more violently in this storm of demonic energy.

“To go this far, to go this far—! What on earth is the reason for going this far—————!!!”

The demonic energy became flames and turned into snakes.

Several black snakes rose up and lunged towards Luis, who was holding a dagger to Rubina’s throat.

In the blink of an eye, the snakes that lunged at Luis instantly clung to his limbs, crushing his armor and breaking his bones.

In the end, even his neck bone was broken, and Luis collapsed with his eyes rolled back, his neck bent at a grotesque angle.

Yona no longer spoke with words.

Burning even Luis’s corpse with the fierce fire of demonic energy, Yona approached and picked up Rubina.

Though not consecrated, the demonic energy that couldn’t approach Rubina.

This meant that now this demonic energy was under Yona’s will, but Yona didn’t care about such things.

Holding Rubina tightly, Yona looked up at the sky.

    The brightly risen full moon.

Looking up at that full moon, Yona shouted loudly.

    “Berbaria—————!!!”

The full moon began to turn blood-red.

Blood-colored clouds that appeared out of nowhere covered the full moon, and from within, the shadow of a giant snake began to appear.

The giant snake that appeared like this was falling.

The nine heads merged into one, becoming a single massive head,

And with its mouth wide open—

    -Kukwaaaaang!!!!

With a thunderous roar, Berbaria fell onto the courtroom.

The impact caused the courtroom to start collapsing completely,

And that collapse continued for quite some time.
