Chapter 13: Minst Academy, and the Reunion 3
by AfuhfuihgsMinst Academy, and the Reunion 3
William was seen running away while screaming.
“Huh?”
Headmaster Albert looked on in incomprehension at William’s sudden change.
Knowing how terrible a ruffian and morally bankrupt William was, he had expected a major confrontation to occur from William’s actions, who was behaving tyrannically while claiming to be the Chosen One.
And as he worried about the aftermath and was getting a headache, he doubted his eyes and ears when he saw William suddenly turn his body and run away screaming.
“Lord Theodore? Why is he suddenly acting like that?”
Yuria was also looking at the scene with a dumbfounded expression.
William’s behavior and the insult she suffered from him were infuriating to the point that her teeth were chattering.
Yuria, who had been prepared to draw her sword against him as he tried to molest her and treated her like a cheap prostitute for one night, would really have drawn blood if Theodore hadn’t stepped in.
But it was too absurd to see William, who had just tried to intimidate Theodore, suddenly turn his body and run away screaming in disgrace.
“He simply realized his place as mere filth that would stink and cause trouble to the surroundings even if left on the street. Such filth dared to try to antagonize me, who shines brilliantly even among clouds, so he was overcome with fear.”
Theodore spoke in his usual arrogant manner, but Yuria felt that he was speaking indirectly to hide the truth.
However, she decided not to press him.
“Is that so?”
She had something else to say first.
“And thank you for just now, Lord Theodore.”
That was to express gratitude for protecting her from William.
“I just kept my promise. I promised to protect you here. And I will continue to do so.”
Theodore spoke as if it were nothing.
‘What kind of relationship do they have?’
Yuria could predict that there was some important relationship between Theodore and William.
Theodore, the heir of House Skyroad, and William, the heir of House Artin, should normally have no point of contact, given that they belonged to different countries: the Arcan Empire and the Britannia Empire.
“I sincerely apologize. Lord Skyroad, Lady Arsein. For the rudeness of our student… as the headmaster of Minst Academy, I apologize on his behalf. Sigh.”
Headmaster Albert, who had suddenly suffered national humiliation, sighed and formally apologized to the two children of foreign noble families, not treating them as students but as the headmaster of Minst Academy of the Britannia Empire.
William’s misdeeds, immersed in the fame of being the Chosen One, had truly crossed the line significantly, and he seemed completely unaware of his wrongdoing.
“Such rudeness to Lady Arsein… I am truly mortified. I sincerely apologize to Lady Arsein, who is the victim… and I also apologize to Lord Skyroad for the rudeness shown to your fiancée.”
Headmaster Albert was apologizing while considering diplomatic relations.
If he were to treat them as students, the aftershocks could spread even larger, so he was treating them not as students but as children of noble families from another country and apologizing first.
And he thought the reason for Theodore’s anger was because of the rudeness and insult toward Yuria, his fiancée.
But Yuria thought differently about why the relaxed smile had disappeared from Theodore’s face, replaced by a coldness that was frightening.
His anger was surely not due to the rudeness directed at her.
‘Come to think of it, I heard that the person from House Artin is a twin.’
It was a famous incident that had reached even Yuria’s ears, though she wasn’t usually interested in rumors.
Not just anything, the existence of the Chosen One who would save the world from the apocalypse was being watched by the whole world, and the fact that there were two who met the conditions, but one had gone missing due to House Artin’s indifference, had dealt a major blow to House Artin’s reputation.
‘Could it be?’
The appearances of William and Theodore were too similar to be unrelated.
While there was a difference in hair color, black and gold, hair color was just a matter of dyeing with magic or medicine.
However, it was also strange that someone from House Artin would occupy the position of heir to House Skyroad, of all places, as an adopted son.
Because of this, she also thought that it might not be that possibility.
‘If I want to know the answer, I could just ask directly.’
But she couldn’t ask that.
If it were true, it would be quite a painful memory for Theodore.
Yuria didn’t want to dig into someone else’s painful memories for her curiosity.
‘Let’s bury it.’
Therefore, Yuria decided to bury her curiosity.
If Theodore told her the story directly, she would find out, and if not, she wouldn’t know.
That was all there was to it.
“I have heard the headmaster’s apology. This seems to be a matter for Lady Yuria and House Arsein to decide.”
“…I understand.”
At Theodore’s words, Headmaster Albert was seen nodding with a dark expression.
Though he had heard the headmaster’s apology, as Theodore said, this was a matter for Yuria herself and her family, House Arsein, to decide.
‘I’m worried Mother will be furious.’
Yuria was concerned that her mother, the Duchess of Arsein, who had already opposed her studying abroad, would be greatly angered and turn everything upside down, but she had no intention of giving up on this study abroad.
It seemed like running away to abandon her studies abroad just because of something like this.
Of course, as a woman, it was angering and humiliating to be treated and insulted like this.
But recalling her oath to herself to grow into a swordswoman whose name would be known throughout the continent, Yuria recalled the problem she should prioritize.
“For now, please show me to my room first. I will separately inform my family about this matter.”
‘This is impossible!’
William felt like he was having a terrible nightmare right now.
‘My brother… Theodore is alive? And what is that power?’
The power to make the world’s time flow extremely slowly. He couldn’t believe that such a terrifying power existed in this world.
It was a frightening level of power that was incomparable to the telekinetic power he possessed.
In his early childhood at the age of two, which he barely remembered, after awakening the power of telekinesis, the world marveled at his power.
Without any other elements, the world was amazed at his power, which could naturally be exerted by will alone, and admired it as a special power worthy of the Chosen One.
This power, which only consumed mental energy, played a major role in instilling in William a sense of privilege that he was the Chosen One who would save the world.
‘Damn it! Damn it!’
But what was filling his heart now, which had always been full of pride in his power, was only misery, inferiority, anger, fear, and confusion.
The authority shown by his long-gone twin brother, who could make the world’s time flow at 1/1000th of its normal speed and allow only himself and those he chose to be free from its effects, was at an unimaginably formidable level compared to mere telekinesis.
‘He says he’s the Chosen One?’
After seeing that power, the thought kept occurring that he had to acknowledge it, whether he wanted to or not.
William was also aware that there were people in the world who compared him to his missing twin brother, Theodore, and speculated that the real Chosen One might be Theodore, not William.
However, with pride in his special power of telekinesis, he had never doubted that he would be the Chosen One mentioned in the prophecy, so he had laughed at those who spread such “false rumors.”
But now he could no longer laugh at them.
‘No. Something’s wrong. There’s no way he’s the Chosen One!’
William knew that the fame and privilege he enjoyed were possible because he was the <Chosen One>. Then, if he was no longer the Chosen One?
He would no longer be able to enjoy the same privileges as now.
He might not even be able to maintain his position as the heir to House Artin.
“No. No.”
William shook his head from side to side like a madman.
It couldn’t be.
Such a thing shouldn’t happen.
“I am the Chosen One… I am the Chosen One…”
In this confusion, William made up his mind.
‘He didn’t seem to intend to talk about this fact directly.’
Then he too would not reveal it.
One Chosen One, himself, was enough.
No, only he should be the Chosen One.
‘Theodore, I’ll make you regret reappearing. I’ll make you disappear again in a miserable state.’
He had to somehow destroy Theodore to prevent the fact that he was the Chosen One from becoming known.
William, blinded by greed and fear, began to harbor endless hostility and hatred toward his twin brother.
‘Yuria Arsein, that woman is also mine. The position of the Chosen One is also mine. You have nothing.’
The twisted affection of House Artin had turned a young man into a monster.
