Chapter 128: True Education from the Beginning

“By the order of the guild master, the owner of the Artemis Guild, I have come here to greet you. I am Lee Hyun-seung, and from now on, I will be working as a team leader of the Artemis Guild.”

As Lee Hyun-seung spoke, all eyes turned toward him at once.

Yoo Hee-yeon briefly met his gaze but quickly looked away, while Kim Hee-ra gritted her teeth as she stared at him.

    ‘Lee Hyun-seung…’

Kim Hee-ra felt nothing but disgust as she looked at Lee Hyun-seung, who boldly introduced himself as a team leader of Artemis.

Originally, he was just a non-awakened with nothing to his name — a mere piece of trash.

Yet, not only did such an incompetent person enter the Artemis Guild, but now, after such a short time, he had even received the position of team leader.

What infuriated her the most was that Lee Hyun-seung, whom she should have looked down on from the stage, was now being viewed on the same level as ordinary guild members.

She was so enraged she felt like she might lose her mind.

‘If only it weren’t for that bastard… that guy…’

Everything had gone wrong since she tried to frame Lee Hyun-seung as a stalker.

No matter what method she used, Lee Hyun-seung slipped through her fingers like an eel.

Even Yoo Han-beom, who had always supported Kim Hee-ra, inexplicably refused to fully accept her claims when it involved Lee Hyun-seung, and instead seemed to show excessive favoritism toward him.

‘What the hell is so good about that piece of trash?’

To Kim Hee-ra, Lee Hyun-seung was just a thorn in her side.

Her current situation was like a ridiculous case of a fishbone stuck in her throat while trying to swallow a fish.

Lee Hyun-seung stared intently at Kim Hee-ra, and she was the first to look away.

She worried that Yoo Han-beom might see her hostile expression.

If she showed her dislike so blatantly on her first day in the guild, it might worsen her already strained relationship with Yoo Han-beom.

Though it was unfair, she chose to avoid eye contact first.

    crack

    ‘I will definitely kill you.’

    Her face twisted maliciously.

Regardless, Artemis Guild Master Yoo Han-beom spoke grandly.

    “Come up to the auditorium.”

Inside the Artemis Guild, when something special happened, Yoo Han-beom gathered people in the auditorium to introduce the person.

However, with over hundreds of teams within Artemis, the simple fact that someone was appointed team leader normally did not qualify as a ‘special event.’

Yoo Han-beom gathered everyone because it was not just that a new team leader was appointed.

It was because Lee Hyun-seung had been appointed as the new team leader.

When Lee Hyun-seung and his party stepped onto the auditorium stage, Yoo Han-beom shouted to the guild members.

“Listen up! Lee Hyun-seung has been appointed as the new team leader of the Artemis Guild. Not only did he recently resolve the conflict with the Blacksmith Association, but he single-handedly stopped the magic contamination terror incident at Broad Academy and is a simultaneous awakener capable of controlling the Berserker trait and crafting artifacts. That is Lee Hyun-seung.”

Yoo Han-beom paused and looked around as he continued.

“I know what you are thinking. A rookie who just joined, bringing in outsiders and taking a team leader position—that might seem like a rolling stone causing trouble or an eyesore. I’m aware of that. But considering the achievements he has made, isn’t this level of privilege justified?”

In fact, many within the Artemis Guild held negative opinions about Lee Hyun-seung and his team joining.

While some were appointed team leaders based on their abilities, no one had ever brought all their acquaintances into the guild to form an entire team like Lee Hyun-seung had.

To other guild members, this was an enormous privilege and, further, outright discrimination.

At that moment, a girl from the audience raised her hand and shouted.

“Guild Master! I cannot accept this. Lee Hyun-seung—I understand he was a non-awakened just a few months ago. For someone like that to be team leader so soon is hard to accept.”

Soon after, a woman holding a magic staff removed her robe and shouted.

“I want to see his abilities firsthand.”

She wanted to directly verify or spar with Lee Hyun-seung.

The girl who raised her hand earlier was Choi Yoo-jin.

She glanced at Lee Hyun-seung standing beside her.

‘That weak-looking guy is supposed to be a team leader?’

Choi Yoo-jin had endured countless hardships and trials to become a team leader in Artemis Guild.

She had nearly died during a labyrinth exploration, was dispatched on special missions, and had carried out even the dirtiest tasks she wanted no part in, before finally earning the team leader position.

Being a team leader in Artemis was considered honorable—not just for the money or benefits but because of the prestige that came with it.

Artemis was considered the top-tier guild in the country.

The position of team leader, commanding regular guild members there, stoked people’s ambition and competitive spirit.

    Even more so…

    • Yoo-jin, do you know? Your magic is special. So please, fulfill the dream your father could not… here in Artemis Guild…

Her late father’s dream was to enter the country’s top guild, Artemis.

More than that, his dream was to work in a high position within Artemis.

It wasn’t out of some great mission.

He personally respected Yoo Han-beom, the guild master, and considered being close to him as recognition.

    crack

For Choi Yoo-jin, with such circumstances, Lee Hyun-seung was no more than a rolling stone.

    ‘What’s so great about him?’

Choi Yujin looked at Lee Hyunseung.

    His height seemed average.

At a glance, he looked thin.

His jawline was slender, but there was nothing about him that seemed especially outstanding.

Moreover, the weapon he held was none other than a handgun.

How could a mere gunslinger have stopped a magical disaster and fought Hilleon alone?

No matter how much she wanted to believe what Yoo Hanbeom said, it was hard to take it at face value.

And not only was he supposedly strong in combat, but he could control the Berserker trait using a blacksmith’s simultaneous awakening? It sounded ridiculous.

Besides, because of the nature of the gunslinger class, there were clear limits.

Ultimately, the power a gunslinger wielded came from bullets, and bullets had a fixed maximum amount of mana that could be imbued.

So Choi Yujin couldn’t accept Yoo Hanbeom’s absurd claims about Lee Hyunseung’s achievements.

She thought Yoo Hanbeom was just trying to create a hero.

For some unknown reason, Yoo Hanbeom seemed intent on making Lee Hyunseung into a hero.

It wasn’t surprising to her that powerful people might place a hollow puppet in a position of power to use as their pawn.

With that conviction, Choi Yujin stepped forward.

Yoo Hanbeom quietly glanced at Lee Hyunseung, his gaze saying, “Do as you wish.”

Lee Hyunseung checked Choi Yujin’s magic staff, smiled, and said to Yoo Hanbeom,

“If she wants it, I have to respond.”

    Yoo Hanbeom shouted,

“Choi Yujin, come to the auditorium!”

Then, Choi Yujin, a team leader and magician, walked to the auditorium.

She smiled slyly and spoke to Lee Hyunseung,

“You’re still young and naive. If you eat something you can’t handle, you’ll get indigestion.”

But Lee Hyunseung ignored her words and quietly raised his gun.

“Before you worry about me, you should worry about yourself.

I prefer to keep the peace, but if someone starts a fight, I won’t avoid it and will do my best to fight back.”

    Crack

Choi Yujin raised her staff and began chanting a spell.

“I’ll make you regret joining the Artemis Guild.”

Lee Hyunseung also aimed his gun at her and replied,

    “I’ll take your best shot.”

Then, Lee Hyunseung glanced at Kim Heera watching from afar and smiled faintly.

    Click!

The sound of reloading echoed through the hall.

The magic-nullifying magazine has been loaded.

▶ When using this magazine, it nullifies one magic spell cast by an opponent with a lower class rank.

    Lee Hyunseung added,

“If you want to use any magic, I’ll wait. Please cast your strongest spell.”

Choi Yujin’s expression twisted in frustration, while Kim Heera’s face was full of shock.

‘That… that weird bullet… Damn that guy… He did it on purpose from the start…’

The bullet that instantly nullified Kim Heera’s magic.

Unaware of this, Choi Yujin cast a high-level magic spell. It took a long time to cast, but the power was unquestionable.

    Swish

Lee Hyunseung did nothing but aim his gun at her, holding his breath to control the recoil.

‘This will be a noisy start.’
