    Letter

    Letter

    “Crazy!”

After finishing the letter, the exclamation slipped out naturally.

How could such a humble position be offered to me?

Would becoming a professor be a glorious moment in the history of education?

    Hmm…

It feels a bit too much…

    Is the flattery too thick?

Was this because Ryandel recommended it?

It turns out to be something like this…

    No…

    It doesn’t seem right.

Rereading the letter slowly, my conviction began to grow.

The first SS-rank in the history of the continent, the first Apostle in 5,000 years…

It’s a pity it’s not SSS-rank, and Cecile is also an Apostle, but…

    Still, I’m truly exceptional!

I’m the only SS-rank adventurer and the only known Apostle!

Cecile is an Apostle of a strange being, so she must have hidden it!

    “Congratulations, Lycoris.”

Walter bowed his head politely, offering sincere congratulations.

His white hair glistened softly in the sunlight, exuding an air of dignity.

An elite butler could surely discern the hidden meaning in the letter…

“Hehe! Let the elite butler take a look too!”

    “The honor is mine.”

Walter politely accepted the letter and began to read it carefully.

His expression remained unchanged, as if meticulously examining each character, like a precise machine.

Iris sneaked up behind him, peering over his shoulder to read the letter together.

Her black hair glistened in the sunlight, and her large, curious eyes followed the text.

Her serious expression as she struggled to read the letters looked very earnest.

“The achievements of Lycoris that can be seen here are truly remarkable.”

Walter’s calm voice echoed through the banquet hall.

“This reminds me once again of how great the one I serve is.”

    Wow…

    Such excessive praise…

Having been mocked all this time, hearing such words made me feel somewhat embarrassed…

    My face felt slightly hot.

    “Huh… Is there more?”

    “Most importantly…”

Walter’s voice became even more serious.

“The fact that Elaria de Lunastre, the Academy’s Chancellor, personally wrote the letter holds great significance. She is known for valuing equality and fairness, and has often opposed special admissions and appointments. Most such matters were handled by the Vice-Chancellor.”

“So, she, who is like that, wants to hire me?”

    “Yes.”

    Walter’s voice was unwavering.

“We are Lycoris’s hands and feet, and it is a great honor to sacrifice for her.”

    “Huh…”

    Crazy elite butler…

    How cool…

    “Walter.”

Iris’s voice was filled with admiration.

Her clear eyes sparkled with reverence.

My name value is that high…

It’s as if I’ve become an overpowered champion…

But somehow, it feels a bit strange.

“Still, isn’t this excessive? I’m the same as before, but waking up one day, I’m suddenly being praised this much…”

“Perhaps it’s due to Frostia’s influence.”

Walter carefully folded the letter and replied.

    Oh!

    Master?

“Ah! Because of the monster wave?”

“Yes. The Heshet Empire has suffered particularly heavy losses from the monster wave. Three major cities near the capital were overrun by monsters, and 40% of the Imperial Knights were lost.”

    “Eh…”

    The Empire fell so easily…

Not the image of the Empire I had in mind…

    “Huh…”

Iris also covered her mouth, shocked.

“Moreover, the Academy itself suffered greatly. Half of the faculty are on the front lines.”

“So, if I, the mighty one, go, it’ll be easier to stop the monster wave, and Master, who is now called the Guardian Dragon, will come too.”

    “Exactly. Your insight is impressive.”

    You told me all that…

Or is being an elite butler just a cheat?

“But… isn’t this unfavorable for you? If we go to help the Empire, the Kingdom might struggle to hold back the monsters.”

Walter’s face momentarily showed a thoughtful expression.

But soon returned to his usual calm demeanor.

“How could a servant hide things from their master. I merely stated the facts I knew.”

    His voice was steady.

“We are Lycoris’s hands and feet, and it is a great honor to sacrifice for her.”

    “Huh…”

    Crazy elite butler…

    So cool…

    “Walter.”

Iris also spoke with an moved voice.

“Alright! I’ll go before I change my mind! I’ll wipe out all the monsters around the kingdom and leave! I’ll tell the king that it’s all thanks to the elite butler, so he’ll give us treasures and gold!”

    “Hoho… Thank you.”

Walter bowed slightly with a small smile.

    Shall I go now?

It’s been a while since I’ve leveled up, and I can watch Master fight too!

    “Where is Master now?”

“To the east, in the Geomun Gorge. Most of the monsters invading the kingdom have been found to come from there.”

    “Got it! Prepare the carriage!”

    “Yes, I’ll prepare it immediately.”

Walter bowed politely and left the banquet hall with elegant steps.

His straight posture and dignified departure exuded an air of refinement.

Oh, should I bring Rote too?

I heard she’s preparing to become a legend, but she might be idle.

Just like how my friends who were studying for exams spent their days at the PC room…

I should conduct a surprise inspection!

Like a mom suddenly visiting her child’s dorm!

“Iris! Take me to Rote’s detached house!”

    “Ah, yes!”

Iris quickly stepped forward, leading the way out of the banquet hall.

Her small footsteps moved busily, looking very diligent as a maid.

Walking down the corridor of Crystal Elysium, the path was familiar at first but soon became unfamiliar.

Passed by the ice tree garden.

The transparent trees sparkled in the sunlight like rainbows, and the rustling of leaves sounded like gentle bells.

Passed by the crystal pond as well.

The surface was as clear as a mirror, reflecting the clouds in the sky.

And finally arrived at a place I had never been before.

    “Wow…”

It was a vast square-like area with beautiful white marble walls.

The floor was also made of white marble, so smooth it almost looked like a mirror.

The sound of footsteps echoed softly across the square.

    “Lycoris, that’s the detached house!”

    Looking where Iris pointed…

    “Oh!”

It was a really cool building.

Much smaller than the main hall, but with an elegant spire reaching for the sky.

Its silver exterior glistened in the sunlight, and the color subtly changed with the angle, creating a mysterious glow.

Especially the white square and the silver detached house complemented each other well.

It felt like a night sky with moonlight and starlight intertwined.

But the most fascinating part was the spiral staircase.

It wound around the outside of the building like a DNA helix, elegantly twisting upward.

The silver railing reflected the sunlight, resembling a staircase of light leading to the heavens.

“Such a place existed here! Why didn’t anyone tell me?”

“Well… You arrived and slept for a day…”

Ah, I’ve been here for a day and only been awake for a short while.

Most of that day was spent outside, at the orphanage and the adventurer’s guild…

“Hmph! Just an exclamation! Let’s go up!”

    Started climbing the stairs.

As soon as I stepped on the first stair, a cool sensation rose from beneath my feet.

But it wasn’t unpleasant, just refreshing…

    Like Master’s presence…

    “Haa… Haa…”

After climbing several spirals, Iris panted behind me.

Looking back, her face was slightly red.

    Huh.

    Is Iris cold?

“Iris, are you cold? I can go up alone.”

    “No, I’m fine…!”

Iris waved her hand, her face still red.

    But she clearly looked tired.

Her small shoulders rose and fell with each breath.

“If you’re tired, feel free to go down!”

    “Yes…!”

    Continuing up, I looked around.

The higher we climbed, the more of Crystal Elysium came into view.

The majestic main hall, the sparkling ice tree garden, the distant castle walls…

Rote must have made a great deal…

After climbing for a while, we finally reached the top floor.

And before us was a door adorned with beautiful flower patterns.

    “Hoo… Finally!”

    “Hek… We’ve finally arrived…!”

Iris wiped the sweat from her brow, sighing in relief.

    Great!

    Now, let’s go inside!

    “The terrifying mother has arrived!”

    Creak creak!

    Huh?

    Locked…?
