Chapter 12: [Singing Broadcast] I’m singing a song! [Yuki Yuki / Lunaverse]
by Afuhfuihgs[Yuki has started a live stream!]
[【Singing Stream】I’m singing now!! 【Yuki / Lunaverse】]
[15,000 viewers watching]
“Yukigenyo!! Hello, everyone~”
(TL note: “Yukigenyo” is a formal-style greeting invented for Yuki’s fanbase. Yuki is trying to enforce it as her trademark hello.)
–She’s live─!!!
–Yukigenyo!!
–Heya~
–Hey~
–It’s finally singing time──!!!
–Yo yo
–Hi Yuki!
“…Um, can we please just pick one greeting? Either ‘hey’ or ‘yukigenyo’? Mixing them all together is kinda giving me whiplash.”
Why is everyone saying “hey” anyway?
The official greeting Lunaverse gave me was Yukigenyo, wasn’t it?
But now suddenly everyone’s going with “hey” and “hi Yuki” instead.
–LOL
–Since when do viewers listen to the streamer?
–So true lol
–“Stay unpredictable.”
–Hahahaha
–Nope! I’m saying hey!
–Heeey~
–Hi Yuki~
–Hey!
“……”
So you were all just here to mess with me from the start, huh?
Fine.
In that case, I have no choice but to use the technique.

–Hey

–Huh?
–?
–What just happened
–It’s gone…
–Heeey~-He… (Message deleted)

–What the heck??
–There was a flash and it vanished

–THE CRACKDOWN HAS BEGUN!!!
–RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!
(Message deleted)
“From now on, if you don’t say ‘Yukigenyo,’ I’m locking your chat. Consider this your warning.”
Yeah, viewers never behave unless you put your foot down.
Unless I personally take the ban hammer into my own hands, they’ll keep yelling about their so-called freedom.
That cold, heavy feeling…
“It’s time for the return of Sword Saint Kim Yuki.”
–?
–bruhhh
–You’re kidding, right?
(Message deleted)
–C’mon now
–This is going too far…

–CALL OFF THE CRACKDOWN

–Where’d everyone go…
–This is scary…
“It’s fine. As long as you follow the rules, you won’t get banned.”
Seriously, getting all dramatic over this?
I only put you in time-out for five minutes.
You just can’t chat. You can still watch the stream, so what’s the big deal?
–Bring back democratic Yuki-chan!!
–You fools!!! Don’t you know?! The blue, friendly Yuki-chan is dead!! Only the red, tyrant Yuki-chan remains!!!!
–LMAO
–LOL
–She’s lost it lol
–Red Yuki-chan is real
–She’s gone mad hahaha
–Hahahahaha
“…Don’t slander me. Yuki-chan was always red from the beginning.”
(TL note: “Red” is referencing authoritarian or strict behavior, and also her character design. A play on political color symbolism.)
Her eyes were red since the character design phase.
Maybe she was made to be a dictator from the start?
…Just kidding. Probably.
Historically, propaganda and disinformation have always been the best tools to rule the masses.
So suppressing bad vibes in chat is totally justified.
Yeah. What’s wrong with shutting down a few trolls?
Yuki-chan… isn’t the bad guy here, right?
“Anyway, let’s try this again! Yukigenyo!!”
–Yukigenyo~
–Haha… Yukigenyo…
–Yukigenyo!!
–…okay…
–Yuki…gen…
–…okay…
–This is hell…
And with that,
Peace returned to my stream once more.
Even with that little hiccup, the stream kept going like nothing happened.
It’s my stream, so of course I’m the one in control.
A viewer uprising? Not on my watch…
So, what song am I singing now?
It’s a meme song. A really famous one.
Pretty sure everyone has heard it at least once.
🎵 “And I say~” 🎵
Yep. It’s He-Man’s What’s Going On meme version.
(TL note: The song “What’s Up” by 4 Non Blondes became a meme through a parody video where He-Man sings “What’s going on.”)
That was the first song I sang in this stream.
🎵 “HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA~” 🎵
–HAHAHAHA
–Oh god yes
–The mental video just auto-played
–This is gold
–Heeeeeey yeah~~ yeah yeah~~~~
–I’m losing it lmao
–The first song of hell’s playlist…
–Heeeeey yeah~~~
–WHAT’S GOING ON~~
–Yesss~~ yeah~~~~ yeah~~
🎵 “I said hey~ What’s going on~” 🎵
I repeated the chorus once more and wrapped up the first verse.
Honestly, I wanted to sing the second verse too, but… I didn’t know the lyrics.
I didn’t have time.
I only had a few days to prep for this stream, and just learning the first verse was already pushing it.
Besides, going for verse two might’ve been overkill.
“Thanks so much~”
–👏👏👏
–(Clapping emoji)
–He~ey yeah~~~
–Low-key, you’re kinda good
–Clap clap clap
–Nice one!!
–Why are you good though?
–lick clap clap clap clap
–Wait, you can actually sing?
“It’s only natural that the ultra-cute Yuki-chan would also be an amazing singer, you know?”
–?
–That’s a stretch
–LOL
–Bit much
–She really called herself cute
–Yeah no
–Unanimous rejection
Okay, fine. That was a lie.
I’m actually not a great singer.
My vocal range did go up after becoming a girl, but it didn’t fix the root problem.
My falsetto’s still nonexistent, just like when I was a guy.
That’s why I picked a meme song as my opener.
Since I can’t sing well, I’ve got to at least be funny.
“Alrighty, what should I sing next?”
–s*x on the Beach
–Yodeling, let’s go
–‘LIME’ by Yozune Ken
–Yodeling? Really??
–Sing ‘Hyper Boy’
–Cruel Angel’s Thesis
–Yodeling’s wild lol
–Let’s go Pony
–Chainsaw! Chainsaw!
–How do they remember all these titles so fast?
Seriously though.
How do they remember every single song title?
Yuki-dan really is full of hardcore nerds.
…Not that I’m any different—I recognized every song they typed in chat.
“Since you all can’t decide, I’ll just pick one from the MR tracks I brought.”
(TL note: “MR” = Music Removed = instrumental track, often used in karaoke.)
–?
–Seriously?
–At least give us the yodel!!
–Where’s our freedom…
–Let’s go yodel~
–Bring it on~
“No yodels. I literally can’t.”
If I can’t even do falsetto, how am I supposed to yodel?
Actually, is there a single VTuber who can?
If I pulled it off, I’d be the first in the world.
Well, anyway—
“I’ll just pick something reasonable and sing that.”
I picked a popular song from the MR list my manager gave me and started singing again.
And like that,
My first singing stream continued.
A woman with a neat bob haircut and a business suit.
She’s the general manager in charge of all the Korean VTubers in Lunaverse.
Yuki calls her “Manager-san.”
She opened the office door.
“Team Lead, here’s this week’s activity report.”
Inside the room sat a man with a warm smile and a shiny bald head.
The “Team Lead” accepted the report with a small nod.
“Thanks. Let’s have a look.”
Flip. Flip.
The sound of turning pages filled the room.
Then silence again—only paper rustling.
“Um…”
The manager spoke, and even the paper sounds stopped.
“Can I ask something personal?”
“Hm? What’s on your mind?”
“It’s about Yuki…”
“Oh, the one who got suspended?”
“Yes.”
“She’s quite rare these days. Cheerful, well-mannered…”
“……”
The team lead’s comments were mostly positive.
The manager hesitated, then asked with a troubled expression:
“Why did you hire her?”
“Hm?”
“With that kind of past? If it ever gets exposed, it could cause major backlash…”
Yuki—Seo Eun’s past.
If her history as a cam girl came out, her VTuber image would take a hit.
The viewers would feel betrayed if the streamer’s “ideal image” didn’t match reality.
…Though in Yuki’s case, the outside and inside matched perfectly.
“But you’ve seen her recent streams, right? They’re skating dangerously close to the line.”
“…Yeah, I’ve noticed.”
Flip.
The team lead set the report aside.
He looked at her with sharper eyes.
“You’re asking why I hired Seo Eun?”
“Yes.”
“Simple. She seemed the most desperate.”
“…What?”
The manager blinked in surprise.
The team lead chuckled.
“She went full kneel during the interview. Begged us to pick her. Said this was her only shot at survival.”
“……”
“She even tried to do a handstand at the end. I had to stop her and send her home.”
Yeah, she did seem desperate.
Who kneels like that at an interview unless they really have no other option?
Still, that alone shouldn’t be enough.
Lunaverse wasn’t the kind of company to hire someone just because they seemed desperate.
…Then again, looking at how extreme some Japanese VTuber streams get, maybe it was.
But the team lead’s next words finally convinced the manager.
“Well, I didn’t know at the time… but turns out she was a diamond in the rough.”
He handed the report back.
On the open page were stats:
[Miho]
Subscribers: 134K
+72.8%
[Arin]
Subscribers: 127K
+82.5%
[Yuki]
Subscribers: 214K
+114.9%
Hard data.
She had the fastest growth among the second-gen members.
Her stream was clearly working.
So no one dared criticize how close to the edge she played.
“Looks like I’m not washed up yet. Still got an eye for talent.”
“……”
An eye for talent.
She hoped—really hoped—nothing would go wrong.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
“…Okay.”
“And if something does happen, we’ll step in.”
That’s our job, after all.
With those final words, the manager quietly left the room.
[Playlist]
- What’s Going On (He-Man Meme ver.)
- Kick Out
- Delusional Sensibility & Empathy
- Flame Lotus
- Ievan Polkka
- Hyper Boy
- WIND:RE
- Stalker
- One Shot of Soju
- —
The stream was absolute chaos.
As you can tell from the playlist, I started off mostly singing Japanese songs.
But I totally biffed Flame Lotus and got so mad I jumped into the Padoru Song next.
After that, I switched to Korean songs.
I sang a bunch of idol and pop songs, and before I knew it, over an hour had passed.
“Alright, last song of the night!”
–Huh?
–Already?
–Noooo don’t leaaave
–If you don’t mind… could you stream for like five more hours? (shameless)
“I’ve been singing for a whole hour! My throat’s dying here…”
Seriously, my voice is destroyed from all the yelling.
I have no technique—just scream and hope for the best.
But if you scream for an hour straight, your throat will die.
“Alright, here comes the finale!”
🎺 Ba ba BAM ba BAM~ ba ba BAM ba BAM~ 🎺
The trumpet blared.
After a short intro, I belted out—
“s*x!!! s*x!!! s*x ON THE BEACH!!!!!!”
–LMAO
–No way
–This is the last song?!
–Legendary
–HAHAHAHA
–s*x ON THE BEACH!!!
–Oh my god
–LOL
Yep. My final pick was s*x on the Beach.
A god-tier song where I can legally scream “s*x” on stream.
“SEXXX!!! SEXXX!!!”
–s*x!!!!!
–S3X
–HAHAHAHA
–WTF LMAO
–S.S.
–s*x ON THE BEACH!!!!
–HAHAHAHA
And so, shouting “s*x” like a deranged parrot,
I brought my very first singing stream to a close.
