Chapter 114 February 16, 2025
by AfuhfuihgsThe Outer God Needs Warmth – Chapter 114
I approached the burning sword that had fallen to the ground.
It’s a trace of someone who resisted until the end, knowing they would die, targeting only me without giving up until the last moment.
I tore off Hwangbo Cheon’s severed arm that was tightly gripping the sword.
The sword named Demon-Suppressing Sword flickered like a flashlight that had run out of battery not long after being held, then its light disappeared.
It really is a lightsaber.
I looked around.
Of course, only a few Taoists who tripped over feet in the middle or were pushed too far away to escape barely survived, trembling in fear while holding onto Sealing Needles.
Just before Soo-oh swung her sword.
Because Hwangbo Cheon gathered his subordinates behind him, the enemy was cleanly cut away.
Snow falling from the sky slowly piles up along the deep valley that appeared in front.
Now what should I do?
After pondering briefly, I decided to head towards where the contractors are for now.
Even as I moved my steps, the Taoists didn’t attack.
They just gripped their weapons and looked at me with terrified expressions.
In the end, I wasn’t hit even once until I left that area.
I climb the hill towards the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult’s main building.
Far away, the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult’s main building and the battle scene above it are visible.
With the current weather of localized concentrated sword light flashing, surprisingly Heavenly Demon might be able to survive.
As for the rest, well.
Gapjae died after being hit by a weapon similar to a gun. He died after being hit by a bullet that only made the sound of cutting through air, perhaps not using gunpowder like the Sealing Needles.
Searching through faded man’s memories and other memories, basically bullets are faster than the speed of sound, so by the time you hear the sound it’s already too late.
Of course, guns already exist in this world.
But it’s a weapon used only by the military, so people who have lived their whole lives in the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult don’t know about it.
So Gapjae and many other protectors and hall masters couldn’t properly respond and died.
Projectile weapons are like seeing hidden weapons for the first time for those seeing them for the first time.
Still, as martial artists, even those ranked lower than Gapjae could resist after some people died, but there were no longer enough people left to reverse the war situation.
And Yin Simwon.
This man immediately entered his lair and used techniques to block external enemies. But more than half didn’t work because they relied on fish-people connected through the Blood Vessel Secret Religion and Severance Religion. The devices that were still alive only managed to bind feet for a very short time.
Still, he desperately did everything he could.
But there were technicians who could counter it, perhaps already knowing that the Great Kraken’s technology was mixed into the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult. Most were broken without even being properly used.
Around the time Soo-oh died.
Yin Simwon was finally killed by people called immortal disciples, or Taoists for short. Of course, he had enough skill to be called a hall master, so he didn’t die alone.
Thanks to that, I learned that those who pursued Yin Simwon were Taoists and that they already knew about the Great Kraken’s technology.
There is a causal relationship.
The Great Kraken has fought with the immortals of this world before. And he was defeated by them once. So after fleeing into the sea, he steadily built up his strength.
In other words, the immortals had information about the Great Kraken.
And they discovered traces of the Great Kraken inside the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult from Jung Jaewoo and Byeongil. So they deployed this many immortals to attack me.
At least, they think the Great Kraken is still alive.
Supreme Leader Tongcheon.
They were wary of the possibility that an opponent called that might appear.
It seems they don’t know that place has already evaporated from the Great Kraken’s explosion.
Well, it’s a city the Great Kraken created in hiding. It would be strange if they could immediately know in Kunlun what happened there.
I gain memories along with warmth as Taoists die here and there.
The memories come out like fragments, but when pieced together, a lot of information pops out.
Supreme Leader Tongcheon. Severance Religion. Ocean Way Sect.
If these are words describing the Great Kraken and his subordinates, the opposite is this:
Primordial Heavenly Lord. Heavenly Religion. Mountain Sect.
The “heaven” in Heavenly Religion is not the “heaven” meaning sky, but the “heaven” meaning to illuminate. They were wary of remnants of the Severance Religion even after winning, and when that was revealed, they sent this many Taoists.
So Hwangbo Cheon and his master Cheong Dojin were Taoists and immortals from the Heavenly Religion.
Taoist refers to a group that is still human, and immortal refers to people who have half escaped the cycle of lifespan.
Surprisingly, it seems not all immortals have an enormous light like the Great Kraken. Cheong Dojin was an immortal, but when I saw him, he was only about 10 times larger than Hwangbo Cheon.
Hwangbo Cheon is about 10 times larger than the light of a person who lived well.
In other words, it’s not really that large.
Even people at Cheong Dojin’s level were occasionally present in the first world.
Or maybe they didn’t use methods to expand their light like that.
The Great Kraken’s light was enormously huge. Considering how the light of the subject used to make pills was ground and added to the light of the person who ate them when eating pills.
Perhaps, surprisingly, even the one called Primordial Heavenly Lord may not have such a huge light.
The Great Kraken greedily ate others’ light to grow his, but there’s a possibility they won without doing that.
The size of the light may not be the only explanation for pure strength.
Until now, larger light meant stronger, but that may not always be the case. At least in the memories of Taoists and immortals I’ve obtained, there’s no information about grinding people into pills to eat.
Rather, they stay away from meat and grains. They ate a lot of bitter herbs, mushrooms, beans, and fruits.
Well, not all immortals grow by grinding and consuming people.
Rather, the Severance Religion is heterogeneous because it’s made with technology from another world.
In other words, it’s right that the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult is falling because it deserves to fall.
That side is based on moral norms, pure goodwill, and the compassion that people should have, while this side is an extremely wicked world made by boiling down malice.
I don’t intend to deny that the position they’re standing in is strange just because they were people who weren’t bad to me. Rather, I’m at the extreme of that evil.
At least I don’t misunderstand what I am.
I’m just a monster.
I can’t turn back time, I can’t create the world as I think, and I don’t have the omnipotence to do anything for those I meet.
I can never become something like a god.
Because I’m that kind of monster.
To gain warmth, I can do anything.
Anything.
Thinking that, I watch an immortal whose sky is dyed dark purple, cut in half and falling to the ground.
Splash!
One fragment among them fell next to me as I was walking towards the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult’s main school.
Only the left half of a man’s body remains.
This one is an immortal too. He’s one of the Twelve Immortals said to be renowned in the Heavenly Religion, but he’s not an extraordinary immortal. He was a newcomer who had only just properly taken the name of Perfected Person.
At the top of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult’s main building, Heavenly Demon is clashing with a powerful immortal.
The Great Kraken was so overwhelmingly powerful, and Heavenly Demon had barely resisted in front of him, so I thought it would be difficult for her to defeat an immortal, but surprisingly she’s killing them well.
As I climbed the hill and arrived at the main building, this time the left leg of another immortal fell next to me.
This person didn’t die. It was just cut off.
The dark purple sword light shining in the sky shows no signs of stopping, but the natural disasters occurring around it are weakening moment by moment.
Now rather than natural disasters, they’ve fallen to the level of just magic. The magic occasionally seen in the first world.
Exactly that level.
Heavenly Demon really will survive.
But the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult is over.
If there are no more harvesters left in this area, it’s over.
Of course, there are harvesters left besides Heavenly Demon.
The frontline infantry unit similar to spearmen who first used me like bullets. Only nine remain now, but they survived by going too deep into the Murim Alliance’s territory and avoiding strong people.
But except for them, the only harvester left alive now is Heavenly Demon. In other words, it means there are almost no properly living Heavenly Demon Divine Cult believers.
Thinking that, I raised my head to look at the top of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult’s main building where Heavenly Demon is.
This time, a huge ring of dark purple light appeared above the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult.
From Heavenly Demon’s perspective, a person muttering “sword ring” was torn apart by that ring and died immediately.
When the ring exploded and spread in all directions, the magic-like phenomena covering the surroundings disappeared in an instant.
Heavenly Demon’s gaze looks around. Several immortals can be seen without a single intact spot.
Then Heavenly Demon discovers me.
Cough.
She lets out a small cough and approaches me.
Before long, Heavenly Demon came in front of me.
She’s a mess.
There’s not a single intact spot on her blue skin.
Wounds are all over, with purple-tinged blood flowing down.
Of course, her blood isn’t actually purple. Looking at the hem of her clothes, it’s properly dyed red.
She’s closing one eye, perhaps due to blood flowing from a long wound on her head.
As soon as she arrives, she asks me:
“Soo-oh?”
“She died.”
At my answer, Heavenly Demon just nodded. Then Heavenly Demon raised her head to the sky. But her gaze doesn’t settle anywhere.
She’s thinking about something.
“What were her last words?”
It’s a tone as if she knew she had died. I thought about asking about that, but decided to answer her question first.
“Soo-oh Heart Technique Choseol.”
At my words, Heavenly Demon chuckled. Then, she tried to wipe away the blood covering her eyes with her hand, but failed because too much blood was flowing and just pressed on the wound.
But she looked straight at me with both eyes as if the blood had been wiped away and asked:
“That’s enough for me, but there’s no way you’d make that expression after hearing those words. What did she say before that?”
A tone that knows me too well. Unfortunately, I can’t directly read Heavenly Demon’s thoughts. I can only confirm through physical reactions, but.
Heavenly Demon’s body is too much of a mess to guess from that.
So. I said the words I had heard just before. I said that spell.
Hearing my words, she turned her gaze to look in the direction where the house was.
She took in that place for a very brief moment, then looked beyond it.
The huge valley where snow is falling from the sky.
The place where Soo-oh died.
And Heavenly Demon looked at me.
Then she removed her hand that had been pressed against her wound.
And after looking at her bright blue hand covered in her own blood, she approached me.
Thud.
And she left a handprint made of blood on my chest.
“I want to put it on your forehead, but unfortunately my arm can’t go up any higher. Let my wish be contained in Soo-oh’s wish too.”
As the surviving immortal approached with a face full of awe and determination, Heavenly Demon also cast a spell on me.
“I was thinking of giving up the name Heavenly Demon in three years and going on a journey with you and Soo-oh to fulfill your wish. But it didn’t work out.”
Heavenly Demon, who let out a small sigh, now looks at the sky.
“I’ve always been like this. But I’ve done everything I could for the people I love, sweeping away the emptiness that can’t leave anything behind.”
And perhaps due to her wounds, she stretched her sword forward with an arm that wouldn’t go up from the front.
“You who have no name. Who am I?”
I know what she’s going to do.
Knowing that, I answered like this:
“Contractor. Heavenly Demon.”
Heavenly Demon smiled.
