    Chapter 110: This is click

Have you ever heard the words ‘male-dominated’ or ‘female-dominated’?

It’s a term commonly used when a certain group has an excess of men or an excess of women.

There are places where men and women are mixed in appropriate proportions, but there are also places that are not.

Just like how mechanical or electrical engineering departments have many men, and early childhood education or nursing departments have many women.

No one intentionally arranged it, yet the numbers get divided by gender like that.

In a way, it’s an ironic thing.

    Internet broadcasting wasn’t much different.

The streamers might be different, but the viewer base could not escape the gender imbalance.

It was safe to say that the majority of viewers were male.

It was also the reason why some people said you shouldn’t even dream of streaming if you weren’t a woman.

They said that unless you have an exceptional talent that can draw people’s attention, it would be difficult to even attract the interest of the viewers, the majority of whom are male consumers.

At one time, I had thought, ‘Is it really that bad?’ and brushed it off, but now, it was a sentiment I deeply sympathized with.

In fact, hadn’t I also benefited quite a bit from my changed gender?

I remember that in the early days of my stream, quite a few viewers came in because of the image of a skilled female user who had played nothing but Camilla for several seasons.

Of course, there was some groundwork done before that, but even that wouldn’t have been as effective if I had been a man.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand.

The fact that my new student, nickname ‘SuperCutieCamilla,’ was a woman caused quite a stir.

    [Wait, what? She’s a girl?]

[So she was a girl? lololol]

[Isn’t that a voice changer program?]

[With the streamer right there, do other women even catch your eye? lol]

    [I’m just saying it’s surprising.]

    [Noonaaaaaa]

[Why go through all that trouble? It’s not like there’s anything to gain.]

[What’s the big deal about a girl lol the streamer is a girl too.]

    [So Kayak-fangirls really existed?]

[Was she the one who was always calling her ‘unni, unni’ in the chat?]

[Unni ㅠㅠ I’m good at Camilla too.]

    [I don’t think so.]

[The streamer has quite a lot of female fans, yep.]

[A female user (Bronze) who’s played over 1000 games this season alone, this is not easy….]

[She’s a fiend on the teacher’s level ㄷㄷ]

I was surprised too, but honestly, the gender of my disciple wasn’t a very important issue to me.

You know, it’s not like I teach while discriminating by gender, and if I had to nitpick, the factors I mentioned earlier were more important.

However, it seemed the viewers thought differently, as the reaction was now distinctly more favorable than before.

Really, they just can’t help themselves when they see a woman.

Just a moment ago, they were making a fuss, telling me to kick her out and pick again.

Well, it was a good thing.

I was worried my student might get intimidated by the angry chat window, but it seemed that wouldn’t be the case.

    “Ah, ah, yes… I’m a girl!”

“No, that was my mistake… if there’s anything in the chat that makes you uncomfortable, please let me know privately.”

    “I’ll take measures for you.”

    [Her voice is nice.]

[This is much better to watch than a collab with a recent student ^^]

[Come to think of it, most of the people Kayak teaches are girls.]

    [She’s a female-friendly streamer.]

[Kayak, aiming for the Minister of Gender Equality and Family position ㄷㄷ]

Ignoring the chat window spewing nonsense, I asked about things I needed to know before starting the coaching.

“How old are you, by any chance?”

    “Uh, my age…? D-do I have to say…?”

For the first time since the call connected, a hint of hesitation appeared.

Is she sensitive about her age?

Thinking about it, that was entirely possible.

There was no need to poke at a sore spot, so I changed the direction of the question.

    “No, that’s not it.”

“I’m just curious about what kind of life our Jjang-milla-nim usually lives.”

“My, my life? More importantly, what’s with Jjang-milla–.”

“I shortened SuperCutieCamilla. Is it a bit much?”

“Uh, a nickname… is that what it is? If you’re the one calling me that, teacher, I like anything.”

[Why does it sound like she’s reluctantly saying she likes it? lolol]

[Jjang-milla is f*cking awful lolol just give her a completely new one.]

[This person’s naming sense sucks too, yep.]

[Already on a nickname basis ㄷㄷㄷ]

[Something something polar bears, something something global warming….]

[Ahem, it’s a pure relationship between a streamer and a fan.]

[Seeing as she’s asking not to be asked her age, she must be a bit old.]

    She likes anything.

From using my face as her profile picture to her reaction now, she certainly seemed to be my fan.

Should I be happy that she’s a fan, or not?

I’m human too, so it wasn’t easy to be harsh and teach a fan who said they liked me.

“But are you curious about my life? Why…?”

“Ah, not to the extent of your private life.”

“It’s just that, just yesterday, you played 14 games in one day. I was wondering if you usually play that many games.”

The average game time in Abyss is between 20 and 30 minutes.

Due to the nature of the game, there is no set ending point.

Sometimes it ends very quickly, and though rare, there are times when a game drags on for over an hour.

Excluding such special cases, and assuming one game takes 30 minutes, the total time Jjang-milla played Abyss yesterday was 420 minutes.

Converted into hours, that’s a total of 7 hours.

If you add another hour for matchmaking, queueing, and dodges, that’s a total of 8 hours.

Some might ask if it’s not possible to play that much on a day when the game is going well, but the problem is whether you can play like that every day.

It was a question to find out her usual routine, how much practice time she had, and how much time she could invest in the game.

However, her reaction was different from what I had expected.

Wasn’t she hesitating and trailing off her words, just like when I asked about her age earlier?

“I usually play that much, yes….”

“So, do you usually play games for about 8 hours a day?”

“There are times I play for 10 hours, ugh… if you turn on your stream, teacher, I either turn it off or play with it on the side….”

[Why is she so persistent? lolol]

[Is this person interrogating her or something?]

    [A viewer’s dignity being obliterated in real-time….]

[Look at Noona getting dejected lol]

[Teacher, you’re a real piece of work.]

[Wow, that life routine is f*cking crazy lolol]

[I’m taking splash damage, please stop hitting me…]

[Twish chatters who suddenly feel a sense of kinship, hit the upvote lolol]

[Is it that fun to make fun of the unemployed?]

The long stream of viewers’ chats.

    “Aha….”

Only then did I realize why Ms. Jjang-milla had been dejected.

“You can be unemployed, why not?”

“A person can be without a job.”

    “You all too.”

“Being unemployed is not something to be ashamed of.”

    [ㅇㅇ has donated 1000 won!]

    – Please stop hitting me….

Why were they like this when I was encouraging them?

There was a time when I was also a long-term job seeker, so I could well imagine how it felt.

Though, Ms. Jjang-milla’s situation was a little different from a typical unemployed person.

“So there’s no particular problem with your livelihood, then?”

    “No.”

    “It’s a situation where it doesn’t matter if I don’t work.”

To summarize briefly, her father’s business had done well, so she quit her stressful job and started dedicating herself solely to watching my stream and playing Abyss.

The viewers feeling a sense of betrayal, thinking she was a comrade but turned out to be a pretender, was a bonus.

    “That’s actually great.”

“It means you have an environment where you can focus solely on the game.”

“Yes…! I can play the game anytime except when I’m sleeping!”

    “Good, very good.”

“Are you looking at my stream screen right now?”

On the screen, the display I had up earlier had reappeared.

SuperCutieCamilla’s match history, revealed through the stats website.

The fact that it was stained entirely in red was quite impressive.

Having confirmed my screen, Jjang-milla hurriedly continued speaking.

“Teacher, that’s not it, I may be Bronze, but there’s a reason for all of this–.”

[I’m sure there was a ‘reason’.]

    [There are reasons….]

[Noona, I think I’m going to have a ‘reason’ – This message has been deleted.]

[Still, isn’t Bronze a bit too much?]

“I’m not trying to say anything, but I’m curious how your KDA ends up like this.”

I wasn’t just saying it, I was sincere.

What teacher would criticize a lacking student? Even more so when I had deliberately sought out a lacking person. If I said anything, I’d be the crazy one.

This was simply a procedure to more closely understand the student’s condition.

Such brief numbers couldn’t represent the essence contained within them.

In that case, I figured it would be better to watch a game being played directly.

“Would you mind playing a ranked game as you usually do?”

“I’d like to see how you play once.”

    “Ye-yes…!”

If you untangle things one by one, a path is bound to appear.

That was the way of life, of the world.

No matter how unsolvable a problem seemed, if you slowly worked on it from a very small part, it would eventually be solved.

I too held such a truth in my head.

It was a piece of life wisdom gained from living for a not-so-short period of time.

However, perhaps it was because the years I had lived, their density, or in vulgar terms, my ‘experience,’ was lacking.

I had no clue where to even begin with a problem like this.

“…Why did you go in just now?”

    “I thought they were alone.”

“It was a kill angle, and they kept giving me an opening….”

“You died just now going in like that.”

“It’s a similar situation to before–.”

    “No, wait.”

“Don’t type, don’t type in chat.”

    “Don’t fight with your teammates….”

“I’m sorry, they keep saying things to me… Just now, they didn’t cover me and then had the nerve to say that–.”

A lack of learning ability, a lack of teamwork with teammates…?

As I was organizing the other myriad of minor problems scattered about in my head.

There were so many things to point out that I eventually opened a notepad.
