Chapter 110: How to not become unemployed.

Cleaning up the mess his daughter had made was the father’s responsibility.

Jeon Daein visited the office and called Manager Jeong Minhee, who also served as the figurehead president, and Editor Kim Yeongsang to ask for their opinions.

“Now that she has announced her retirement, there are two options.”

“We can either liquidate the business and file for closure, or we can recruit another streamer and continue the management.”

    “Which option do you prefer?”

Editors and managers inherently have very unstable employment.

The two of them must have known that from the beginning.

As a brief silence filled the room, Jeon Daein recalled the past.

Long ago, he had strongly wished for his reliable eldest son to inherit the company.

This remained true even after his son became his daughter, and he had provided support for her.

Like having her major in business administration at a prestigious American university.

But he had never once doubted how that was possible.

He had never considered how a son, to whom he had given nothing, could grow up so admirably.

He, who was a parent for the first time, neglectful of his family, yet so proud of his accomplished child.

Why was a man so perfect in business so clumsy at home?

Why did he, a perfectionist in his work who needed to meticulously examine and fully grasp any business to feel at ease, neglect his child so?

    Of course, he had excuses.

His second child was very sick; his wife, worn down by caring for the second child, was also ailing in spirit.

Meanwhile, his ever-expanding business also demanded his attention; there were too many places that needed his eye.

As they say, no news is good news.

His attention was too stretched to also look after his first child, who wasn’t causing any apparent trouble.

Thus, he only saw the first child’s flawless exterior and never looked within.

When everything changed, the child’s empty insides were all spewed out.

A child who couldn’t get along with her peers at all.

A child who greatly provoked the children around her.

A child whose insides were actually rotten.

A child who became terrified of the world after witnessing a mass shooting.

Since he had committed many sins, there was no reason to blame others even if things went wrong.

    Jeon Daein simply thought.

He wished that child would just live, not die.

Just as he had been grateful every single day that his second child, who had been so sick, was alive.

    Please, just don’t die.

    He prayed so.

    “Chairman.”

    “Have you decided?”

“To be honest, public opinion is very good.”

“She doesn’t seem to need to retire.”

“But if it’s a burden to her, we can’t force her.”

“Couldn’t you at least give us a chance to persuade her?”

Jeon Daein didn’t expect anything from Seol-ah.

It wasn’t due to distrust or indifference, but because of the guilt he carried.

“You’ve watched the Young Lady’s broadcasts from time to time, haven’t you?”

    “How did she seem?”

“Didn’t she look like she was quite enjoying herself?”

She was a child who had caused so much trouble in a short period.

In terms of fame alone, she must have already far surpassed her father’s recognition.

The child, under the gaze of so many people—did she look happy?

    Sad?

    Distressed?

    Joyful?

“I also think Ex-Legend enjoys broadcasting!”

Kim Yeongsang, who had remained silent while Jeong Minhee and Jeon Daein talked, also spoke up.

    “I think she likes people!”

It wasn’t always the case that people knew themselves accurately, and discrepancies between how others saw oneself and how one saw oneself were very common.

Seol-ah thought of herself as someone who streamed rather reluctantly, finding it difficult, but to others, she appeared to greatly enjoy broadcasting and her viewers.

“Not closing down, nor recruiting a new streamer, but continuing with the Young Lady is what I want.”

“Of course, it would be better for the company too.”

Child’s play—compared to the company Jeon Daein directly managed, this company run by three people was truly only the scale of child’s play, but.

It was also someone’s livelihood and life.

Therefore, Jeon Daein decided to take a step back.

Not to run away, not to pass the buck to others, but to give her the chance to take responsibility for her own life.

    “Alright.”

    “Try to persuade her.”

‘I admit I was like trash.’

‘Dumping the employees I work with on Dad and going silent.’

‘But everything I do, I mess up, it doesn’t work out, there’s no solution, I’m stupid, cowardly, clumsy, like trash, and I probably won’t be able to finish things properly anyway, so it’s better if Dad handles it cleanly…….’

I was scolded by Dad and told to meet the employees directly and talk to them.

I know that’s the right thing to do, but it’s too hard to put into practice.

    My stomach hurts.

But I guess it’s impossible to run away any further from here!

‘Let’s just prostrate myself in apology and then lock myself away in my room forever.’

‘As expected, I was a human who shouldn’t try to do anything, because I’ll mess everything up with a 100% probability.’

A hopeless b*stard who doesn’t even have the courage to meet people properly without her younger sister by her side.

There was even the terrifying thought that they might stab me with a knife in retaliation, out of anger from becoming unemployed!

Fortunately, however, the two people’s faces didn’t look that angry.

    “Hello, it’s the real Seol-ah.”

    “I didn’t disguise myself today.”

I removed the height insoles, the fake breasts, and didn’t wear a wig.

I also skipped the disguise-level makeup.

‘If I look like a really young child like this, wouldn’t they be less angry?’

‘Why, if an adult is seriously angry at an elementary school student, that’s strange, isn’t it?’

    “Streamer-nim, please come over here.”

Minhee called me over to the computer.

‘Surely she’s not going to hit me?’

As I trembled with anxiety, Seol Yoon took the lead, held my hand, and guided me.

“This is a public opinion poll we posted on LightIt.”

    [Ex-Legend, come back – 4207 votes]

[It’s right for her to quit broadcasting – 11 votes]

“Th-this is my home ground, isn’t it?”

“Only my fans come here, so of course the results would be biased.”

“These are comments from an internet news article.”

[She tried to hide her true appearance because of the trauma of almost being shot and killed, so why retire? She bowed her head cleanly, so let’s continue broadcasting – Likes 96 Dislikes 2]

[Broadcasters should learn from this person. Many people carelessly expose their addresses and personal information, which can lead to real trouble. There are many crazy people in the world, and the police can’t perfectly protect citizens. You need to know how to protect yourself – Likes 25 Dislikes 0]

“Aren’t you just cherry-picking the parts that are favorable to me?”

“There must be people cursing me out.”

“It’s not like there aren’t any.”

“But who in the world doesn’t get criticized?”

“Society isn’t so harsh that it can’t understand the trauma of someone who was shot.”

“……I wasn’t actually shot, I was almost shot.”

    “That’s a relief.”

“But I already did a retirement stream, how can I come back!”

“You can do an apology stream for the retirement stream.”

    “Th-that’s right!”

“Even people who caused considerable trouble all come back and stream!”

“There’s no need to retire when public opinion is this good!”

    “Heuk?”

When Kim Yeongsang suddenly shouted, tears welled up in Seol-ah’s eyes.

The perpetrator of her trauma, the one who committed the mass shooting, was also the type who was usually quiet like that and then suddenly caused an incident when excited.

    “Ah! I’m sorry!”

    “My voice was too loud!”

    “It’s still loud.”

Seol Yoon shot a cold gaze towards Yeongsang and hugged Seol-ah.

    “It’s okay, it’s okay.”

    “I’ll protect you.”

The concepts of younger sibling, older brother, or older sister mean nothing.

The reality is just the incredibly strong, agile, and sturdy Seol Yoon and the limp, weak, flat, tiny Seol-ah.
‘Yeongsang is a man, but he looks far from athletic, so Seol Yoon could probably subdue him easily,’ I thought.

“If you’re afraid of retracting your retirement, I’ll tank for you.”

    “Tanking?”

Tanking, in games, refers to the act of intentionally drawing enemy attacks towards oneself to protect the rest of the party.

What Manager Jeong Minhee meant here was that if insults or criticism flew, she would take them.

“I, who didn’t want to be fired from my manager position, forced her to return!”

“We can just push that narrative.”

“I’m sorry for putting you at risk of unemployment because of me!”

“That wasn’t why I said it.”

    Minhee earnestly persuaded Seol-ah.

    “Then let’s do this.”

“If public opinion is bad during the comeback stream, we’ll give up then.”

“People will criticize me for testing the waters……”

“People like you more than you think, Ms. Seol-ah.”

    “R-really?”

Seol-ah, too, actually felt an emptiness.

The thought that there would be no more broadcasting in her life.

The fact that she still had no idea what to fill those long, long hours with.

She was a fool who had declared, “I don’t need viewers!” but then teared up when she thought her viewer count had dropped.

Well, it’s shocking enough for 50,000 to become 500, but she was a child who, without even suspecting the numbers were too low, had a mental breakdown and cried—a child who, in fact, loved her viewers very much.

    “But deceiving people is wrong.”

“If I did that, I should take responsibility and retire.”

    “Why is retiring taking responsibility?”

“Isn’t broadcasting more diligently and more entertainingly taking responsibility?”

“That’s the typical logic of someone who’s brazen-faced……”

“That’s when you’ve done something truly wrong!”

“People have that much understanding, you know?”

Seol-ah couldn’t understand why Minhee was so desperate to persuade her.
